SportsSheyi Ojo: England U20 World Cup Winner Open To Representing Nigeria by Eizzy003(op): 12:07pm On Sep 27, 2019
England Under-20 World Cup winner Sheyi Ojo says he would consider playing for Nigeria at senior international level - if the West African country came calling.

The 22-year-old Liverpool player, who is now on loan plays for Rangers in the Scottish league, is eligible to play for the Super Eagles because his parents are Nigerians.

Under Fifa rules he can switch allegiances because he is yet to play for the senior side.

It's starting to get to the time where I have to start thinking about my future. And of course, if Nigeria were to call me now it would be an honour

Sheyi Ojo
England U-20 World Cup winner
And, despite 43 England caps from under-16 to under-21 level, Ojo is keen to fly with the Eagles.

"To be honest, I don't know much about it (Nigeria interest), but if they call me I'd be honoured to go to Nigeria," Ojo told BBC Sport.

"It's obviously a massive nation. I'm just really focused on club football at the moment, but I'm excited for the future, both club and country.

"My parents are originally from Nigeria as well, so they know a lot about it. They've always been keen on the idea [to represent Nigeria] but so far I've mainly been focusing on club football.

"It's starting to get to the time where I have to start thinking about my future. And of course, if Nigeria were to call me now it would be an honour."

Ojo played five matches including the 1-0 win over Venezuela in the 2017 Fifa U-20 World Cup final to help England to their biggest international title since 1966.

Nigeria have previously succeeded in snapping up former England youth internationals like Sone Aluko, Victor Moses, Shola Ameobi, Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina for the Super Eagles.

The three-time African champions are also close to persuading Everton striker Ademola Lookman to play for them rather than England.

Ojo, who joined Liverpool from MK Dons as a youth prospect in 2011, would love to join such an illustrious list.

"Of course, if I was to get selected I'd definitely think about it, I'd never turn down Nigeria," said Ojo.

"I'm from Nigeria originally so it'd be an honour, likewise with England as well. If I keep doing well, opportunities will come by for club and country.

"It's not really something I'm thinking about at the moment but you never know what could happen in the future."

For the moment, Ojo who has one goal in 13 appearances for Liverpool's senior side, is focusing on establishing himself with Rangers where he has made 4 appearances and scored 1 goal.

After loan spells with Wigan Athletic, Wolves and, last season, Fulham, where he scored four goals in 24 appearances for the Cottagers, he opted for a challenge outside England to prove himself.

"Obviously, Rangers has given me the opportunity to play regular football and I am pretty excited for the season, so hopefully it will be a good one," he added.

"The main aim is to use this as a platform. It's up to the Liverpool manager to give me the opportunities. I feel like so far I've done what I can to get the opportunity, obviously it hasn't come.

"Hence, why I am on loan and hopefully after this loan spell you never know what could happen. Opportunity could arise next season.

"I have some goals of my own, but I'll keep it to myself. Now it's just to help Rangers do as well as they can. The main focus is to do well, shine as much as I can. Just to showcase what I can do in Scotland and all around Europe."

A return to the golden generation is in sight.

What I don't understand is how a certain Onuachu ranked above Onyekuru and Osimhen in Rohr's books at AFCON.

Is he Onuachu's agent or something?
I think its because Paul onuacha played at a better team and scored more goals than osimhen last season.
so dat might have given him an edge over osimhen
SportsOsimhen Beats Psg Golden Boy Mbappe To Player Of The Week Award In Ligue 1 by Eizzy003(op): 11:59am On Aug 13, 2019
Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen has been voted the Ligue 1 ‎player of the week after his debut brace for his new side Lille in their 2-1 win over Nantes yesterday.

Signed for Charleroi for a fee in the region of € 14m, the 20 year old wasted no time in making his mark in the league with the opening goal for his team in the 19th minute of play before netting the winner ten minutes from full time.

His brace came as a surprise to many considering the fact that he has barely trained with his new team as he arrived one week ago but yet delivered after just three training sessions with the first team.

In a poll conducted to pick the best player in the French top flight, Osimhen pulled more votes than the golden boy of France football Kylian Mbappe who scored and assisted another for PSG in their 3-1 win over Nimes.

Mbappe ‘s teammate Edinson Cavani finished third in the poll while Jeff Reine-Adelaide of Angers finished fourth thanks to his effort in Angers 3-1 win over Bordeaux. Thiago Mendez of Olympique Lyon finished fifth after his double assist for Lyon in their 3-0 win over Monaco.

SportsFIFA 20 Chelsea Player Ratings: by Eizzy003(op):
Ethan Ampadu

Position: Centre Back
FIFA 19 Rating: 63
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 69
Ethan Ampadu's game time was mainly limited
to Europa League appearances last season.
However, Maurizio Sarri seemed to pick him
over Chelsea's official captain, Gary Cahill , more
often than not.
Despite Ampadu's limited game time, he largely
remained solid at the back. He showed some
potential, but most of the time did not play
against the hardest of opposition. A 69 seems a
fair rating for an up and comer.

Danny Drinkwater
Position: Midfielder
FIFA 19 Rating: 79
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 73
Danny Drinkwater had an extremely uneventful
season on the pitch, playing just 30 minutes in
the Community Shield final and being named in
the squad just one more time, against Derby in
the EFL Cup.
He made more of a name for himself off the
pitch, by being charged with drink-driving in
April. It is fair to say this is a season that
Drinkwater wants to forget, and his FIFA rating
will probably reflect that as well.

Mason Mount
Position: Midfielder
FIFA 19: Rating 71
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 74
Mason Mount had a solid season on loan at
Derby, and it seems as he might be recalled to
Chelsea, especially if his manager at Derby
Frank Lampard is given the gig at Stamford
Bridge.
This small upgrade is only one step in Mount's
rise.

Willy Caballero
Position: Goalkeeper
FIFA 19 Rating: 75
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 74
Willy Caballero's season will probably be
remembered by most for being failed to be
substituted on during the EFL Cup final. He had
a fairly quiet season, by playing only once in the
Premier League.
Caballero has done nothing to receive an
upgrade, but it would be harsh to give him
much of a downgrade, given the positive results,
when he played, including the crucial 2-0 victory
against Tottenham .

Fikayo Tomori
Position: Centre Back
FIFA 19 Rating: 66
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 74
Fikayo Tomori had a great season on loan at
Derby and looks likely to be recalled to the
Blues' first team along with Mount.
However, EA needs to change his position as
well as his rating, with the starlet currently
listed as right back.

Davide Zappacosta
Position: Right Back
FIFA 19 Rating: 79
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 76
Davide Zappacosta was another player who was
limited to cup competitions. He did not do much
that impressed and it seems as though he is
largely limited to a wing-back role, which
Chelsea no longer require.
It looks as though Zappacosta could be one of
few to leave Chelsea despite the transfer ban,
and his reputation is going down, as well as his
FIFA rating.

Reece James
Position: Right Back
FIFA 19 Rating: 63
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 76
Reece James had a magnificent season on loan
at Wigan , and was in FIFA's Championship
Team of the Season.
It's clear he will receive a significant upgrade
and somewhere in the mid to high 70s seems
only fair.

Emerson
Position: Left Back
FIFA 19 Rating: 76
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 79
Emerson had an inconsistent season at left
back. He occasionally impressed and showed
signs of promise, but then often made defensive
errors, when he was out of position, that led to
goals.
However, he seems to have now overtaken
Marcos Alonso in the pecking order and
probably deserves a slight upgrade to show for
it.

Ross Barkley
Position: Midfielder
FIFA 19 Rating: 79
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 79
Ross Barkley was another player that had his
first full season as a Chelsea player. In the early
stages of the season it seemed as though he
was the goalscoring midfielder that Chelsea
have lacked since Frank Lampard. His formed
then dipped after New Year, and it never really
recovered.
Disastrous moments like that clearance against
Man City have been balanced by flickers of
inspiration (see his free-kick against Malmo)
but until Barkley improves his consistency, he is
unlikely to be given an upgrade.

Kurt Zouma
Position: Centre Back
FIFA 19 Rating: 78
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 79
Kurt Zouma had a much improved season at
Everton, proving himself as one of the strongest
defenders in the league, and surprisingly one of
the fastest.
Will EA give him the strength and underrated
sprint speed stats that he deserves?

Marcos Alonso
Position: Left Back
FIFA 19 Rating: 82
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 80
Marcos Alonso was heavily criticised by Chelsea
fans throughout the season. He did have a
position switch from wing back to full back, but
this was his worst season in a Chelsea shirt,
even losing his place to Emerson.
He is still a threat from set pieces and in general
attacking play, but he should receive a minor
downgrade, as he no longer is the best left back
in the Premier League and does not carry the
same threat as he used to.

Tammy Abraham
Position: Striker
FIFA 19 Rating: 74
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 80
Tammy Abraham was the Championship 's
second top scorer helping Aston Villa to
promotion with 26 goals. Returning from loan, it
looks as though Abraham could well be finally
leading the line for the Blues next season.
His pace is his biggest strength, and by being
given a Championship Team of the Season card,
it is almost certain that Abraham receives a
significant upgrade.

Callum Hudson-Odoi
Position: Winger/Attacking Midfielder
FIFA 19 Rating: 68
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 80
The biggest upgrade in the group. Callum
Hudson-Odoi is Chelsea's crown prince, adored
by the fans and seen as the heir to Eden
Hazard's throne.
Since his mid-season refresh, where he was
upgraded to 71, he is actually a very
underrated player to use, given his four-star skill
moves.
He definitely deserves an upgrade and 80 may
seem generous, but he will almost certainly be a
regular star next season, and this rating can
only improve in the future.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Positon: Midfielder
FIFA 19 Rating: 77
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 81
Ruben Loftus-Cheek is another Chelsea
academy graduate who enjoyed a
successful season, despite it being hindered by
injury. Before his fitness issues, the England star
had displaced Matteo Kovacic , in Sarri's
preferred midfield three.
Loftus-Cheek's patience has finally paid off at
Chelsea and his rating should improve to go
with it.

Andreas Christensen
Position: Centre Back
FIFA 19: Rating 82
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 81
Andreas Christensen rarely featured in Premier
League matches, before Antonio Rüdiger got
injured. He was rather average when he played,
not doing anything special. However, nor did he
make many notable mistakes.
He did not do enough to receive an upgrade, but
his limited game-time may unfortunately mean
that he will receive a downgrade.

Christian Pulisic
Position: Winger/attacking midfielder
FIFA 19 Rating: 78
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 81
Chelsea's new £60m man, Christian Pulisic,
comes with lots of potential, but his 2018/19
season has been full of injuries.
Given his large transfer fee and potential, it
seems as though he might get an upgrade.

Antonio Rüdiger
Position: Centre Back
FIFA 19: 81
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 81
Antonio Rüdiger, like most Chelsea players, was
inconsistent. He was at times imperious at the
back, but often was humiliated in big games.
Keeping the same rating for him, seems the
most plausible.

Olivier Giroud
Positon: Striker
FIFA 19 Rating: 82
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 82
Olivier Giroud rarely started in Premier League
matches. However, he was excellent in the
Europa League, scoring 11 goals and helping
Chelsea win the competition.
He cannot be given a downgrade surely, but his
age and the fact that he was limited in the
Premier League means he also probably cannot
improve.

Willian
Position: Winger
FIFA 19 Rating: 84
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 82
Willian was disappointing throughout the season
and it seems as though he would be sold if not
for the transfer ban. His best performances
came against lower league sides, such as
Sheffield United in the FA Cup, but he failed to
impress in big matches.
He was often reduced to the role of impact sub
in the latter stages of Sarri's reign, which is
also probably the best way to use him in FIFA,
as his pace and tricks can help late on.

Pedro
Position: Winger
FIFA 19 Rating: 82
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 83
Pedro may not have had his best season, but he
was solid throughout and has recovered his
starting position from Willian. He may be past
his prime, but his solid contribution to the team
and 13 goals, should get him the upgrade he
deserves.

Jorginho
Position: Midfielder
FIFA 19 Rating: 84
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 84
Jorginho is arguably the most hated player right
now by the Chelsea fans. It may be harsh to
give him a downgrade as he has not done
anything terribly wrong, but his addiction
to sideways passing in an unremarkable
campaign means an upgrade is unlikely at best.

David Luiz
Position: Midfielder
FIFA 19 Rating: 83
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 84
David Luiz has probably had his best season in
a back four at Stamford Bridge. Yes, he has
been the occasional liability, but he has become
much more disciplined and his passing range is
as good as its been.
He has improved throughout the season and is
now one of Chelsea's most experienced players,
and probably deserves the slight upgrade.

Kepa Arrizabalaga
Position: Goalkeeper
FIFA 19 Rating: 83
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 85
The world's most expensive goalkeeper is
probably known best for the drama in the EFL
Cup final. However, he has proved that the
doubters wrong, by saving helping Chelsea win
two penalty shoot-outs. He also finished with
14 clean sheets in the Premier League, and has
ousted David de Gea as Spain's number one.
Despite his tantrum, Kepa has proven to be a
solid signing, with only room to improve and his
FIFA rating should reflect that.

Cesar Azpilicueta
Position: Right Back/Centre Back/Left Back
FIFA 19 Rating: 86
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 85
Mr Consistent, Mr Versatile, Dave, Azpi or
whatever you want to call him, Cesar
Azpilicueta has again been a rock for Chelsea.
He is now the club's playing captain and with
Cahill departing, it seems as he will be official
captain as well.
However, he is no longer the same threat as he
used to be going forward.

N'golo Kante
Positon: Midfielder
FIFA 19 Rating: 89
Predicted FIFA 20 Rating: 90
N'golo Kante has undergone a position switch
this season. Despite the criticism, he has
adapted to his new role and is still one of the
best defensive midfielders in the world, if not the
very best. He still has enough energy to run up
and down the pitching, making it seem as
though Chelsea have two Kantes.
He has scored four goals this season, which is
his personal best, and played the final of the
Europa League injured. Kante deserves an
upgrade as much as anybody.

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has joined Ligue 1 club Lille on a five-year contract from Belgian side Sporting Charleroi.

Osimhen was on Thursday, August 1 unveiled by the club and has been given the No 7. Jersey.

“The LOSC is a very good club that leads a quality project and includes high-class players, even more in recent years.” the 20-year-old striker said in a statement on Lille's website.

“Great Nigerian players have also played here. I would like to join their lineage and follow their footsteps.

“I am very happy to be here and to join this great club that is the LOSC. I am still young, I am learning and I think that this project suits me perfectly to continue to progress.”

IMPRESSIVE LOAN STINT

Osihmen was signed by Lille after the impressive year he had in Belgium with Sporting Charleroi last season.

The 20-year-old scored 12 goals in 25 appearances to take the club to the brink of Europa League qualification and was named the club’s Player of the Year.

“We welcome Victor Osimhen today with a lot of fun. He is a player with great potential who has already demonstrated his value and his ability to establish himself as a good scorer in a nearby league, in Belgium, which can also facilitate his integration,” Lille’s Director-General Marc Ingla said in a statement on the club’s website.

“Victor is a fast forward player with a very vertical game, great physical abilities and a real intuition in front of the goal. Despite his young age, he is already international in Nigeria.

“He goes one step at a time, which allows him to consolidate his nascent fame in the world football landscape. It will be our job and especially that of the technical staff to help maintain this progress.”

Osimhen had initially joined Charleroi on a loan deal from Wolfsburg before he was signed to a permanent contract after an impressive year in Belgium.

The move to Lille continues Osimhen’s rise after his career initially stalled at Wolfsburg, the club he joined after he broke out at the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup.

Osimhen snagged the limelight after he scored 10 goals and took home the Golden Boot as the highest goalscorer and Silver Ball as the second-best player of the tournament which Nigeria won in Chile.

He had trials with Zulte Waregem and Club Brugge which were unsuccessful after he failed to impress but Charleroi took a chance on him.

SportsXavier Amaechi: Arsenal Winger Signs For Hamburg On Four-year Deal by Eizzy003(op): 8:18pm On Jul 27, 2019
Arsenal winger Xavier Amaechi has completed a move to Hamburg after signing a four-year contract with the German second division club. Hamburg will pay a fee in excess of 2.5m euros (£2.25m), plus several million in performance- related add-ons, while Arsenal have a sell-on clause but no buy-back option. The 18-year-old England youth international, who passed a medical on Saturday before putting pen to paper, will wear the number 17 shirt at the Volksparkstadion. Amaechi turned down a number of high-profile suitors and an offer to extend his Arsenal deal, which had a year remaining. He received approaches from Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Nice, Hertha Berlin and Championship sides, as well as late interest from four Premier League teams. Arsenal agree £72m deal for Pepe Hamburg were among a dozen German outfits who had been closely monitoring Amaechi since early 2019 and their pitch to the Bath-born attacker proved decisive. The role of their sporting director Michael Mutzl was said to be key as he, manager Dieter Hecking and director of sport Jonas Boldt - all recent appointments - committed to a project that will see Amaechi used as a regular starter on either of the flanks. Amaechi moved to Arsenal from Fulham in 2013 and is regarded as one of English football's most promising talents, though he is yet to make a senior appearance. His 2018-19 campaign was disrupted by injuries, but he did make his debut for the first team in a friendly on their late-season warm-weather trip to Dubai and was also in the Gunners' travelling party for the Europa League final in Baku. Hamburg viewed Amaechi as an ideal recruit in their bid for promotion back to the top flight and the player saw them as the perfect place to continue his development. Having been the only team to play in every Bundesliga season since the league's formation in 1963, Hamburg were relegated for the first time a year ago.

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez says he will not celebrate if he scores against Liverpool at Anfield in Tuesday's Champions League semi-final second leg.

Suarez, who left Liverpool in 2014 after three-and-a-half seasons, scored and then celebrated in Barcelona's 3-0 first-leg win at the Nou Camp.

The Uruguayan apologised for celebrating last week and says he "respects" Liverpool fans.

"I think people know the work I did here," said Suarez.

"I think there will be more applause than whistles. There may be quite a few who are not happy but I think there will be more who are happy and grateful."

He added: "Celebrating the goal last week, people who know about football, who love this sport, know about the importance of this.

"I have all the respect in the world for the Liverpool fans. Because I scored and celebrated with my fans, I say sorry.

"Obviously, it is clear that if I score a goal against Liverpool I won't celebrate it in the same way."

Suarez who scored 82 goals in 133 games for the Anfield club, added: "Being captain of Liverpool was one of the proudest moments of my career. It is something I won't forget. Playing in the elite with Barcelona was because of Liverpool and what they made me."

Salah left the pitch on a stretcher after an aerial collision with Newcastle keeper Martin Dubravka during Saturday's 3-2 win.

Manager Jurgen Klopp says concussion will keep Salah out, as Liverpool look to overhaul a 3-0 first-leg deficit.

Firmino missed the win over Newcastle with a muscle injury.

"Two of the world best strikers are not available tomorrow night and we have to score four goals," said Klopp.

"It doesn't make life easier but as long as we have 11 players on the pitch we will try."
