NFF grooming Yobo as Super Eagles future coach, says Pinnick Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick has disclosed that the federation appointed Joseph Yobo as assistant coach of the Eagles to prepare for a future role of the team’s manager. Pinnick noted at the weekend that the leadership role displayed by Yobo when he was the captain of the Eagles motivated the NFF to appoint him as a member of the team’s technical crew. He maintained that Yobo’s appointment would contribute to the development of the Eagles, as the team look ahead to qualify for the 2021 African Cup of Nations and the 2022 World Cup. “When Yobo was captain of the Super Eagles before he retired, I saw inborn leadership character in him. His charisma and the way he carried other players in the team was exceptional. “Yobo is a born leader. This is why the federation decided to appoint him as one of the assistants in Super Eagles team. “We are looking up to Yobo to manage the Super Eagles in future and being part of the team’s technical crew will give him that opportunity to coach the Super Eagles in the nearest future. “The Late Stephen Keshi was also an exceptional leader when he was the captain of the Super Eagles. He later grew in the coaching job to handle the Super Eagles. Yobo needs to be encouraged. “This is not the first time a Nigerian retired player would be given this type of opportunity. Yobo’s presence in the Eagles will help the team,” he said. On Yobo’s lack of the required certificate for the job, Pinnick clarified that “apart from the first assistant in the national team, other coaches that are yet to get coaching licence are allowed to be in the team’s technical set up according to the rules. So, Yobo’s appointment is on track.” The president also revealed that the federation was working round the clock to raise funds for the Super Eagles’ campaign to qualify for the AFCON and World Cup when hostilities resume after the COVID-19 lockdown. |

andrewbaba44:PSG want Leicester's Ndidi; Partey, Bakayoko also options - sources Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Leicester's Wilfred Ndidi, as they search for a new central midfielder in the summer transfer window, with Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey and Monaco's Tiemoue Bakayoko also considered options, sources have told ESPN. Ndidi, 23, was in fine form for Champions League-chasing Leicester before the break due to the coronavirus outbreak and became the subject of interest from some top European clubs. And PSG, through their sporting director Leonardo, are positioning themselves to make a move. The Nigeria international arrived at Leicester in 2017 from Genk for £15 million and still has another four years left on his contract. His value is estimated at around £45-50m. Despite recently bringing in two central midfielders in Idrissa Gueye last summer for £30m from Everton and Leandro Paredes the previous January for £36m from Zenit, the Parisians still feel they need a strong and aggressive holding midfielder which neither the Senegal nor Argentina internationals are. Ndidi ticks all the boxes and Leonardo could soon accelerate on their interest. Ndidi is not the only midfielder on the list. Partey, 26, who is also having a very good season, is also another name on their shortlist. The Ghana international's buy-out clause is £43.7m. Leonardo is also a big fan of Bakayoko. The Frenchman, 25, had a revival at Monaco this season and still belongs to Chelsea, where he endured a difficult spell before being loaned to Milan and then back the Ligue 1 side. Monaco will not trigger his £30m release out clause. In addition, PSG are also looking for a right-back and a left-back as Thomas Meunier and Layvin Kurzawa are both out of contract in the summer. https://africa.espn.com/football/story/4091095/psg-want-leicesters-ndidi-partey-bakayoko-also-options-sources?src=com |

Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Swedish Allsvenskan outfit Hammarby have pulled off a transfer coup by reaching an agreement to sign Nigeria U17 international Akinkunmi Amoo. The Sidos Academy wonderkid has signed a preliminary contract with Hammarby which will come into effect on June 7, 2020 when he celebrates his eighteenth birthday. It is understood that Amoo's contract with Hammarby is for four years and a twenty percent sell-on clause has been inserted into the deal taking him to his first professional club. One of the players in the Golden Eaglets squad that left with his reputation intact despite their disappointing showing at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup, Amoo had attracted interest from European powerhouses such as Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, Arsenal, Monaco and Atlético de Madrid. Diminutive in stature, Amoo, who has been likened to Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, was the Golden Eaglets player with the most assists during the tournament in Brazil, setting up goals in three consecutive matches against Ecuador, Australia and Netherlands. Hammarby part-owner Zlatan Ibrahimovic helped to swing the deal in their favour as he was actively involved in negotiations and had a personal chat with Amoo about joining the club. Amoo is presently in Ibadan, Nigeria following his trip to Sweden, where he was shown the facilities of his new club and also took part in training. |
Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr has stirred up the hornet's nest after disputing the recent statements made by Nigeria Football Federation boss, Amaju Pinnick regarding his contract situation and invitation of home based players to the national team. The German football tactician aimed a thinly-veiled dig at Pinnick at the way he went on air to discuss the conditions attached to his new proposed contract. One of the conditions Rohr must accept before he's offered a new contract is that he must reside in Lagos or Abuja, but the former Bayern Munich defender has claimed that he spends more time in Nigeria than in Europe and argued that the Super Eagles players are based abroad with the exception of goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa. In an Instagram Live conversation with Colin Udoh, Rohr said : "My philosophy is not to speak publicly about these things. I saw, like you, what was said on social media, but I can't comment. "Already, I've spent more time in Nigeria over the past three years. All my players, except one, plays abroad." Rohr added that some unnamed countries have been in touch with him over a coaching job but his first priority is to continue leading the Super Eagles, and maintained that money is not a deciding factor. "I'm waiting for the (contract) proposal. Things could be very easy. I don't want more money, bonuses... just want to keep doing this. "Personally, I received a few offers from other countries but I rejected them. I just want to take this team to the next AFCON and World Cup." Rohr concluded by saying that he has invited twenty-four home based players to the Super Eagles since his appointment as coach, with many of the players earning contracts abroad after their call-ups. "I've invited about 24 local players since I was appointed. Funnily, most of them get a contract in Europe almost immediately. "It's difficult getting local players who are better than the ones we already have. That's why CHAN is important." Rohr's best achievement as Super Eagles coach was finishing third at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. |

AndSunGorilla:He must have been compelled to end the contract. The guy should just look for a new club, he won't lack buyers. Or if he thinks he should end his playing career, then he can go for his coaching badges, He already has a position at chelsea waiting for him |
