Music/RadioRe: Open Letter To The Headies Awards 2013 by ejifranks(m): 2:51pm On Dec 30, 2013
ajasa4link: The author of this trash is just a bitter niggar who will complain about everything that doesn't go his way ,just making baseless accusations. The problem is people like him think they know everything when they actually know next to nothing. Hear him call Don jazzy and tiwa savage " mavin slaves " as if any of his family members is half as successful as the two stars are.
Even a deaf man knows olamide's Ybnl is the most successful rap album in the period under review (mid 2012 - June 2013), but our bitter friend here will not agree with that and even accuse olamide of commercializing rap when in fact, reminisce, vector, phyno and his other hyped thin God are guilty of the same offence. And for u to even consider ice prince as what rap represents says a whole lot about what u know about hiphop.
For God's sake, stop asking the dumb question why this or that answer did not win the award, the answer is simple; BECAUSE PEOPLE LIKE U DID NOT VOTE FOR UR CHOICE,BUT WILL RATHER COMPLAIN WHEN UR ARTIST OF CHOICE DID NOT WIN ANYTHING.
Saying some artists won the award because they were mtn ambassadors is just a baseless conspiracy theory because there u have waje to negate ur claim.
Yeah, the organisers had some flops coming from their end,but spreading a conspiracy theory because u don't agree with final outcome of the awards is damn irresponsible of u.

LAST BULLET: stop saying u speak for majority of Nigerians u know the truth because u don't know shiit, u are just.a bitter unsuccessful dude trying to sell ur beer parlor talk to us as fact.
i like ur objectivity....the headies this year wasnt the best one could expect , but the awards were given based on votes...Sean tizzle, waje, dtunes and other winners' fans voted more so they got the awards........I see that burnaboy has a huge fan base here on nairaland and out there , if they had all voted, the story would have being different......una no vote abeg make una rest...simples
Very funny from someone who says sentiments apart yet you're putting alot of sentiments in your judgement on who is a better musician.
I'm very passionate about music and I would defend it any day any where that Burna is more "Next Rated" than Sean Tizzle. I have boycotted many awards. I used to be a huge fan of the grammies but I dont watch that anymore ever since Chris brown and Jordin Sparks lost their award for best collaboration to Robert Plancks and Alisson crus. All in all, Chris brown is still selling records today. Awards mean nothing in the music industry esp in a country like Nigeria. The fans will always decide. The way the club goes wild when " Yawa dey" comes on. Who is the most promising Burna or Sean Tizzle.

Answer isnt too difficult.
unless you say otherwise, I believe that this awards were given based on votes from fans. If this is the case then sean tizzle must be doing something better than burna boy music and publicity wise.don't you think so.. Pls dnt give me the-" its politics line" or "the awards is a yoruba awards"(am igbo)or mtn influenced the results", all this allegations lack evidences and cannot stand.. I am a passionate musi artist and follower and refuse to throw objectivity into the dustbin while reviewing my fellow artists songs and and their all round musicmanship. Like I said in my earlier post burnaboy is far ahead of Sean T talentwise(can the same be said publicity wise?) Bbut within the period under review Sean T had a more massive hit in Sholee than any of !urna boy hits(u can visit radio and cable music directors and djs and get this fact from them)kapsh

Sentiments apart, sholee got more radio spins all over the counttry than any of Burna Boy hits ..the streets all over naija reverbrated with sholee, it had more covers(did any artist remix Burnaboy"s songs, I don't know any) . Burna boy is more talented than sean t no doubt but when you look at the major songs by each artistes in that award category in the year under review, sholee was a more massive hit than others.sean tizzle also comes thru as a humble social guy(character is key in this industry) while oluwa burna kind of acts aloof and detached(I never said he is proud, but he needs to liven and sway more to fans)

Music/RadioRe: Top 10 Nigerian Hit Songs That Excited Us In 2013 by ejifranks(m): 3:57pm On Dec 28, 2013

why we have a different ranking here is what am wondering, which one i go believe

Eze Promoe: Picking ten best songs that rocked any year is like searching for ten slightly longer hays from evenly cut hays in a hay sack; long story short, this is not an easy task. With up and coming acts giving the old hands a run for their money, the Nigerian music scene is flooded with music that would give your heart a good dance exercise but then, somehow, these ten artists were able to distinguish themselves with their songs; making them our top ten best for the year 2013.
There are several artistes whom over one of their songs were hit but it would be fair picking one of them.

10. Eminado - Tiwa Savage ft Don Jazzy: The single came in May; sitting at number nine in the Mavin songstress 19 track album list Once upon a time, but not until the video directed by extra-gifted filmed maker Clarence Peters trumped airwaves in November did it sink down hot and hard in Naija's musicdom. The song with it's powerful hook-line remained at the top of many music charts for weeks.

9. Emi ni Baller - Chidinma ft Illbliss & Tha Suspect: Emi ni Baller is Chidinma's second running hit single after Kedike which echoed in 2012. The song rode on the back of a powerful video released in January which saw the petite framed singer flaunt in rich designer costumes featuring her music pals Illbliss and Tha Suspect. The strong chorus is magnetic and it further cements Chidinma as a lady crooner who is far from going away.

8. Ukwu - Timaya: This was one of the hit of late 2013 done by the Big Boss of Dem Mama Records of which he told the funny story of the powerful effect of a woman waist accompanied with nice beat from Masterkraft. This was a hit in clubs all over the country and beyond.

7. Durosoke - Olamide: Lyricists and bad boy Olamide (literally) came with this powerful punch in July. The single with it's seductive upward-downward dance movements leaves little to your imagination. It was an instant hit, further fastening Olamide as one of Nigeria's most sought after artist. Durosoke turns out to be a Pandora's box of blessings, securing Olamide and his producers to several award nominations including The Headies.

6. Sho lee - Sean Tizzle:
It was released back in February but it could be mistaken as a hit dropped only a few weeks ago. That's how infectious Tizzle's 'Sho Lee' ravaged fans. The single with strong rhymes and powerful beats completes every Disk Jockeys charts. Clubs raged with it for months and still are. The single catapulted Sean from relative obscurity to international stages.

5. Limpopo - Kcee: This single was Kcee's magic wand for the year. It made him so magnetic, mobile giant MTN came racing for him. He was irresistible in clubs, gals fell in love over and over again. His wriggling dance movements became a name; he just couldn't stop. Limpopo came in March but like Tizzle's Sho Lee, you'd think it just hit the airwave and true to every good song it has laced him to multiple award nominations.

4. Skelewu - Davido: This is one music that hit our airwaves lately this year, adjoined by controversies during the making of the video. It is still banging all over the nation, with new dancestep coming to replace the likes of Azonto and Etighi, in our dance preference, courtesy of O.B.O

3. Personally - P Square:
With this single, P Square thumped a very clear message; that the influx of new talents in the music industry could never upstage them. After the mind numbing success of 'Alingo' that took 2012, P Square returned in June with stark images of the late pop god Micheal Jackson. In the gripping dance-drenched video, they stomped straight into the heart of fans; keeping their beats spectacularly alive, P Square forever remains 'Personally' with their fans.

2. Caro - Starboy ft Wizkid & LAX
: Love is such a beautiful story to tell and it was told exceptionally by Wizkid and fast rising Starboy act LAX in this sizzling number. Caro once again re-echeos Wizkid's penning skills. It's a stripping song about the search for a mystery girl; completely gripping listeners when it hit airwaves in August. Its a dance number that could get a DJ shot if missed in raving clubs. A beautiful performance that not only showed brilliance on the part of the acts but the transformation that happens to a song when driven by a gripping story.

1. Ada Ada - Flavour: The high life singer emerged 'god-overall' this year in this classic piece that has left him a world stage of swaying worshipers. Flavour knew this song was going to be a hit and aptly prepared for it. The music video shot in high definition by Clarence Peters rolled a true to life wedding of a classic girl with ladies in waiting. Weddings nationwide now match to this song with non-Ibo's effortlessly singing along. Flavour proves once again that talent runs in his veins and beats in his heart. The song released in June sits pretty at our number one position and will stay with us for a very long time to come.
