Jpandjp1:
Good day house,

Please I need advise on how to respond to the VO's comments and want people to also learn from it.

Attached is an extract of my GCMS note.

I applied for TRV in Sept and got denied in Dec as a result of purpose of study.

My first degree Accounting
2nd degree - Mba
Status - Married
Family size- 5
Applied alone
Working experience - 10yrs
Field of experience - accounting and finance related
Self sponsored
First semester fee paid
Resumption is May.

Course applied for: Global management
Schl : RRU

Issues:
1) Some people are of the opinion that I shld focus on d express entry. My response. I have been in the pool for a while now and my highest score is 367after 4 ielts hence my option of school route.

2) Why global management and not accounting? My response. Mid career change and accounting is relevant to global management

3)Active EE profile. This is where I really have a problem. I need to know how to respond and explain to the VO's concern.

Elders in the house, kindly assist.
It's quite obvious your application was rejected because of the EE profile the VO saw, i had same refusal as well when I applied for study permit with an active EE profile. I will advise you try the PNP route based on your low CRS and don't give up on taking IELTs, I had a friend who did the exam 8 times and she is a PR now so please don't give up.

I don't mean to bring back the topic about using an affidavit of return during ones TRV application but my curiosity begs me to ask the house that, in the long run won't the document be a problem if one decides to apply for PR after he/she is done with studying in Canada
You are correct, I have a friend in CANADA who wanted to extend his PGWP but was denied because he boldly stated in his SOP during his TRV application that he was returning after studies and all.Let’s be mindful of what we write so it doesn’t come back and hunt you in future.

You still ave to cancel the TRV. Because for visiting, you are to prove beyond reasonable doubt that you don't have intention to stay back, that you are retuning to your country after the visit. Now that u have an ITA, that clearly negates ur intent because it means you have plans to permanently live in Canada. Based on ur dual (contradicting) intentions, ur TRV is likely to be rejected. So it's best you cancel it yourself. Hope I'm clear enough.
You are right, my study visa was rejected based on purpose of visit, I think the VO saw my EE application and just decided to reject it. Don’t really think this dual stuff works.

Hi Ejizy, thanks. Congratulations on your ITA, you will get PR by God's grace. IELTS is doing my spouse and I STRONG thing Jare. Im getting tired on having to rewrite IELTS. Education background has been evaluated by WES already since 2015 (Not sure of the validity for education evaluation now)

I need to be clear if it is compulsory one's spouse need to write IELTS.
I understand the Ielts wahala but with continuos practice you will scale through trust me ...it’s not compulsory your spouse writes but advisable to help boost once crs score. You can PM or check out the EE thread for more info so we don’t derail the thread.

Thanks for your feedback all especially guzenaira jnyuwa02 and awuf. I do appreciate.

My job role is personal banking which is not limited to promoting and enrolling customers on E-Channels etc. The course I intend to study MTEI- Master of Technology and Entrepreneurship Innovation has combination of science, business and finance. Unfortunately in Nigeria what you study most times you don't get a job role that matches it. However, I have been in this job role for about 5 years.

What I submitted when my study permit was rejected were:
1. My international paspsort
2. Copy of data page of intl passport of my elder sister, child, spouse and child (included my spouse and child for them see that whenever we travelled we come back)
3. My bank statements which is about CAD 20,000 and my sister's which is about CAD 60,000
4. Duly filled CIC forms
5. Original admission letter
6. Statement of purpose
7. Police certificate
8.Evidence of initial seat reserve deposit which was part tuition worth CAD 500 (Maybe this was the major reason they see it that I cant afford the tuition fee, maybe I should have paid like $10,000 or more)
8. My shares certificate
9.Affividavit of sponsorship from the court and letter of sponsorship by my elder sister.
These are all I can recall. I need to reapply to the school as they don't defer admission (St Mary's University)
However, in trying to be ready for packaging another application. When offered admission I'm thinking of paying like CAD 10,000 (Although the international student office of the school advised I pay CAD 20,000). I won't use my elder sister as my sponsor. I'd simply use my spouse's account and get the bank statement built up (My little thought so that my elder sister is not seen as a 3rd party).
I will get my spouse to give a letter of support / consent for my study. (may be this will take care of economic /social ties)
Also, I'd upload my SOP for your review. What do you guys think? A little digression, must one's spouse write IELTS for express entry?
Hi...your profile is similar to mine and I was also rejected last month also for just Purpose of visit after 12 weeks...I didn’t really get what they meant though Cus that was the only place ticked. I will advise you try the EE because Based on your information you seem really qualified. I already got my ITA and submitted my application. This study permit just seems getting difficult by the day, I don’t know how else this people want to be convinced, it’s really frustrating.

Thanks for the input. I raised the issue here so many people can learn from it. Sometimes they minute on your application and just leave it like that for months not touching it. You won't know what is going on. My advice is to take note of all these info here before submitting any application and when you notice their isn't movement for a long while (Not London V.O) try to order GCMS to at least see your application status. I have been asked to pay RPRF sha so I guess am lucky.
Hi revlane....please did u submit another POF before you were told to pay RPRF?congrats in advance.

Hi Guys, my PPR is here and I really want to thank God for it.

Our application wasn't in anyway perfect.

Things we were scared we didn't get right:

1. We used 25% pension to complete our POF
2. We didn't upload my spouse's IELTS but raised a CSE about 2 days after AOR
3. Used LOE to explain that the part of the POF which was in T.bills was withdrawn from my cooperative savings account

Timeline:
CRS: 438
ITA: 9th August 2017
AOR: 23rd August
Medical passed/IP1: 6th Sept
NA2: 8th Sept
IP2: 15th Sept
PPR: 15th Sept
Family of 4

The PPR mail landed at 3.01am but we saw it at 9am today.

Our status still hasn't updated but hey, we have the mail.

In all, we give God the glory and we recognise that He alone made this happen.
Wow congratulations....this was quite fast.

Please your advice is needed.

I believe we can find out our visa office as soon as we have medical passed. Can you remember how to do that? I know it's been discussed on this forum before.
I know there is an email address that we can send to for confirmation of the visa office but can't remember now.

Listening: 8

Reading: 8.5

Speaking and writing: 7

Overall: 7.5

Projected CSR score of 440.

1st attempt. All glory be to God for allaying my fears of not getting 8 in Listening. I will soon share how I got 8 in it despite missing first 2 questions and being overwhelmed by completely strange set of questions.

After the exam, I planned to rewrite in Calgary when I resume school. I found out there are 3 IELTS center there and cost about #78k. Also, I promised to remark if I get less than 8 in reading.

Although I believe I deserve better in writing, not because I am a good English writer, my individual and overall score is okay. I thank God.

Next is IQAS and 12300 POF. I believe God is in control.

In Dec 2016, I asked God to be international fully funded international student in Canada come December 2017. However, I have change my prayer. Lord Jesus, I want to celebrate your birth on 25/12/2017 as a Permananent Resident of Canada studying in Canada. I believe you can do it. I waited this long for a reason, show the world why.
Congrats bro your ITA is sure. Noticed you already got TRV in the student platform, are you deferring your admission?
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by EJIZY: 11:53am On Aug 11, 2017
Wow this your score is wonderful shocked....you really deserve it. Your contributions have been immensely helpful especially the way you itemized various parts of this thread.

cochtrane:
You definitely should ask for a remark. Something is wrong with IELTS in Nigeria.

MY results:

Reading - 9.0
Listening - 9.0
Writing - 7.5
Speaking - 7.5

I would have contested this result, cos it's just completely way off. Were it not sufficient for CIC, I most definitely would have contested it. I know how well I write. I should have a 9 in that writing. I wrote TOEFL and got 30/30 in writing the two times I wrote it. For speaking, my score should be higher than 7.5. I had a small encounter with the examiner that day, so maybe that affected it. Still, I don't understand why an examiner should mix sentiments with assessment.

I'm completely gutted, I swear. Something is wrong with IELTS in Nigeria. It's either they get the sense everyone is doing this for immigration purposes and so try to frustrate their efforts, or they have examiners who are inadequate in their competence.

Nonsense! angry

Thanx so much for this write up.

freeradical:
What a glorious CRS cut off score. I spent close to 6months on 433 with my first EE profile searching for ITA but it wouldn't come grin

Congratulations to all our new ITA holders, yimiton, dammiehar, XX01, et al. I know you guys expect to get speedy processing of your eAPR to PPR and so I've decided to help you with a few advice from my own experience. My timeline from AOR to PPR is just 46days which is quite impressive and something I'd wish for you guys to replicate. Now my advice to you goes as follows. Brace up its gonna be a long read

1. Getting ITA is a big deal but it's not so much of a big deal if u don't package your application well and it gets rejected. So use only 24 hours to celebrate dis ITA after which you have to settle down, snap out of the euphoria(you are not in Canada yet grin) and focus on submitting your eAPR without making any costly error that may mar your chances.

2. Even though we know that ultimately d divine controls the speed of every application yet you must do your utmost best in packaging your application carefully. As much as you can, get the documents in d format specified by CIC. Start now to disturb your bankers for the reference letters and your employers for the work reference letter. From my experience, you save d VO time and make their work easier when you submit documents in the recommended CIC format and they reward that with a fast processing.

3. PCCs are very vital and you should know by now what PCCs you need to provide. To be on the safe side any country you have spent a cumulative period of 3-4 months from when you were born till now just start now to process your PCC from them. VOs r very unforgiving with PCCs and sometimes they interprete the laws around PCCs in ways we can't truly understand. If you are like me that have never enter international flight before (I.e no travel history) then u are safe but for all the ajalas in the house, the chicken has come home to roost grin

4. Do not be in a hurry to get AOR, thereby rushing to submit. Take your time to ensure that you include every document in your checklist and in the right file format. Always cross check that your uploads are still intact even at the point of submission. It's not really by AOR but by how fast you move from AOR to PPR. Some July AOR peeps are already with PPR while we still got some April AORs languishing in IP1. So don't let the race to get AOR get to you.

5. Avoid ADRs. If it means waiting till the final week of your 90precious days it's safer to wait it out and submit your application with that document you know will be requested. ADRs have a way of unnecessarily delaying the movement of your file. The best time to send CIC documents is before AOR so be proactive enough to prevent anything that will make then ask after. For example if you know you have been refused visa to some country, nothing stops u from filling a schedule A form proactively even before it is asked.

6. Use your LOE very well. The LOE is a powerful weapon that you must use very well to your favour. If you do an unbiased self assessment of your application, you will note the areas where your application appears to be weak. It's almost likely that the VO will come to this same conclusion as you. That's where a good LOE does wonders. You can use your LOE to politely explain and provide further detail to the VO. What u r actually doing is subtly allaying his doubts about this weak part of your application. This helps the guy to make a favorable decision on your case. The trick to writing a good LOE is being honest, polite and MOST IMPORTANTLY attaching a document to buttress your point or as evidence. Also you can write as many LOEs and attached documents to each even though there is one placeholder for LOE. That's where your PDF merger comes in. Merge all the LOEs into one single file and attach.

7. Raising CSEs is a bad, bad thing!Avoid anything that will also make you to start disturbing your application midway after AOR by having to raise a CSE. Examples are getting married, adding a baby etc. Though most times these stuffs are beyond our control but as much as you can try to avoid entering such situations because it will delay your application. If you know you want to marry that man/woman then make the decision and get married already even before you secure ITA. I've seen some people's application getting delayed because they have to include spouse. If you r expecting a baby and your due date is before the 90days post ITA period, its best you wait for the child and include him before AOR. This exactly was my case. I had ITA Apr 12th and my wife's EDD was May 12th. I decided to wait for the baby. I made every arrangements for his passport with the immigration agent( the guy thought I was crazy trying to do passport for a child yet unborn grin), but alas baby came early on May 5th. My son got his passport May 12th or so and we got AOR June 19th.
So my point is as much as we can control these events let's try our best.

8. Finally just keep praying as though everything depends on your prayers but not your work and try not to be overly anxious. Who anxiety EPP sef.

I wish you guys a smooth PPR journey from here on.

Hello everyone,

I want to apologize for derailing.

I would like to encourage all TRV hopefuls not to give up and keep trusting God because he is working out the best for us.

I remembered when @Freeradical (tuale sir wink) was trying to get a supervisor and co (I'm sure he must have felt very disappointed for not getting a supervisor/admission). He later got an ITA while trying and now has his PPR (officially a permanent resident of Canada). His story changed within 4 months.

https://www.nairaland.com/3649314/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/124#55538109

I have seen some applications on this thread that were not perfect but were approved while some 'perfect' applications were denied. Also, some people applied for study visa in June, got approved in July while some applied in March and still waiting for approval (Life you will say sad) But please always remember that GOD HAS A REASON FOR EVERYTHING AND HE IS WORKING OUT THE BEST FOR US.

Benard Marr said "There is no clear and definitive path to success for anyone. The most successful people in any endeavor will tell you many stories of failure within their life journeys. Many (if not all) have experienced major failures, multiple times. But they never gave up".

If you are qualified for EE and you intend staying after studying, please join the EE train.

I pray for positive approval for all TRV hopefuls on this thread before the end of this month.

.....The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong.....
My dear you are right....heard about the EE just 2 months ago and noticed I was qualified, I quickly registered for the the exam and evaluated my transcript to keep me busy while I was waiting for a decision on my Study Permit application and As God will have it i will be getting an ITA with today's draw. If you know you are qualified please go for it, you really have noting to loose.
