The Kogi State National Assembly/State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal has quashed the victory of Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial district. Melaye (PDP) was declared winner in the February election by INEC but Senator Smart Adeyemi (APC) approached the tribunal, challenging INEC declaration on three grounds of irregularities, over voting and non compliance with the electoral acts.

It's possible, but the only way that can happen is if the structure and political-economy of Nigeria is totally overhauled and restructured! Either that, or the break-up of Nigeria, with Igbos totally in control of their destiny!

There's nothing particularly special about Lagos! It's present status owes itself largely to 'one Nigeria' and all the shenanigans that have gone on since the late 60s!

mrakeli62:
Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has said only Lagos stood ahead of the state in terms of investment drive and opportunity to net big investors from outside the country to Nigeria.

Obiano, who spoke during the opening ceremony of the sales outlet of a soon-to-be developed estate in the state, Awka Millennium City (AMC), said the state has been positioned as one of the top states in the country.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, Obiano, in his address, said: “We are happy to say that things have moved quickly since after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in June, between M-P Infrastructure and the Anambra State Government.”

“This shows that M-P Infrastructure people are prepared for business. I encourage you to continue and I look forward to the ground-breaking ceremony for this tastily estate, in the next four months, whose kind can only be found in Abuja, Lagos, London and America.

“This administration is business-friendly, and we have been calling on sons and daughter of Anambra from all over the world to bring a part of their investment home.

“We are building a world-class state, and our people are speedily heeding our calls and bringing home their investments. With this speed, we are sure that no state in Nigeria can compete with Anambra in terms of attracting investments from outside.

“Our major competitor now is Lagos State, and we are sure that at this pace, we are going to take major investment opportunities from Lagos very soon,” the governor said.

Obiano added that with security in the state, and massive investments, Anambra sons and daughters from all over the world have no reason to remain outside as good infrastructure from residential areas to amenities and business-friendly environment have been made possible.

Earlier, Group CEO, M-P Infrastructure Ltd, Dr. Clem Nwogbo, stated that his company was poised to give Anambra an exquisite residential area for top class citizens, promising that the yet-to-be developed city would habour all top amenities found in top cities of the world.

“In developing the master plan for AMC, we have had to engage some of the best consultants in the world, to ensure we have the best infrastructure designed, using best in-breed specialist in road and drainage, power, water, sewage, environmental, access control and security solutions design.

“In the next four months, we hope to have completed the access road into the Awka Millennium Estate, fence wall, monument gate and have a fully operational concrete fabrication yard.

“Your Excellency, we did promise you at the conception of this project that we will move fast on this project and today’s opening of the sales and marketing suite and handover of some of the key assets for delivering Awka Millennium City is part of that commitment,” he said.

9jaBlogger:
Lagos State APC Spokesman, Joe Igbokwe, has been appointed as Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Drainage and Water Resources, Igbere TV reports.

Governor Sanwo-Olu had nominated Mr Igbokwe as Commissioner in the list sent to the Lagos State House of Assembly, last week.

Igbere TV reports that the Assembly had confirmed 35 out of the 38 nominees, with Igbokwe among those confirmed as Commissioner designate.

Many had expected that the Governor would announce Igbokwe as Commissioner during today's swearing in at the Alausa Government House, Ikeja, Lagos.

But shockingly, the APC Spokesman was unveiled as Special Adviser, as against the earlier announced Commissioner designate.

Joe Igbokwe had sparked controversy online over his “I am not Igbo...” comment during the screening exercise before the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The controversial APC Spokesman had come under fire, recently, over a mockery comment on popular Lagos motorbike hailing service, GoKada.

Igbokwe had mocked GoKada operators for shutting down operations in Lagos to rebrand and restrategize.

“Instead of partnering with govt on BRT, you invested “5.3 million dollars” in Okada business and expect that Lagos state will allow you jeopardise its muliti-billion naira mass transit investments.

“Call it ‘bike-hailing start up’ or whatever, okada na okada… it is not sustainable in a city of high density population Lagos”, Igbokwe had said.

The comment, however, did not go down well with many Nigerians lambasting Igbokwe and reporting him to Governor Sanwo-Olu.

Many Nigerians have reacted to the latest development, with many mocking the APC Spokesman for being “dumped” by the government despite his “overzealousness” and “eye-service”.

Mickiebrownkie:
Indications emerging from Aso Rock are that the Cabal have settled on the appointment of Honourable Abdulmumin Jibrin (member of the House of Representatives representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State) as the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Services. Ahead of 2023, the Cabal have embarked on an elaborate plan to ensure that all the sensitive government positions are retained by loyalists who will stand by the course they have charted for the office of the president. Mr Fowler who is perhaps one of the best qualified hands in tax administration is seen as either being too professional or loyal to an opposing power bloc as to render him untenable for the purpose.

It will be recalled that the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari had issued a memo on reduced tax collection that was subsequently and prominently leaked to the media. This is seen as part of the emerging power play as members of the yet to be sworn-in cabinet are being dragged into the web of intrigues surrounding the tussle. Sources have it that pledging allegiance one way or another would be crucial to the portfolio that each one would land. The more loyal, the juicer the portfolio.

It will be recalled that Jibrin was first elected into the House of Representatives under the Peoples Democratic Party - (PDP) in 2011 before decamping to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2014 where he was later re-elected in 2015. Jibrin was the Chairman Committee on Finance in the 7th Assembly with oversight on the Federal Ministry of Finance and its Parastatals, Federal Revenue, Preparation of Revenue framework/Estimate for the Federal budgets, Sovereign Wealth Fund - SWIA, Tax Matters, Fiscal matters, Government investment in banks and Statutory Corporations and Agencies, Insurance and Insurance of Government properties and assets amongst other functions. On September 28, 2016, the 8th House of Representatives suspended Jibrin for 180 legislative days after he blew the lid on what became famously known as budget padding—a scenario where legislators bloat the cost of budget line items in their constituencies for pecuniary gains. But there is no direct professional competence that one can ascribe to Mr Jibrin. On the other hand, Mr Fowler has increased the tax net considerably, raising the capability of the FIRS in increasing non-oil tax.

In addition and as part of a wider plot to retain the presidency in the North, it is believed that the Cabal favours a Northerner for the position of FIRS Chair to do their bidding. Recently, the cabal has been toying with the idea of putting forward Ambassador Kingibe including trying to associate him solely with the June 12 struggle. The ploy is to allow a current Governor from the South West play the second fiddle in the emerging chess play of high powered politics.

Abdulazeez99:
Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has come under heavy criticism on social media after he supported the assault on a former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu in Germany.

Igbere TV reports that Ekweremadu who was attending a cultural event by the Ndi-igbo Germany community as a speaker/special guest of honour was on Saturday beaten up and egged publicly by members of IPOB.

Mr Kanu, in a broadcast to members on Sunday, pledged N1 million reward for information on the foreign travel plans of all the governors in the South East region and the chief of army staff, Tukur Buratai, Igbere TV reports.

He said: “Anyone who will provide any reliable information about any country that any of our corrupt politicians will be travelling to will be awarded N1 million. Give IPOB accurate information on their whereabouts and collect N1 million. E.g. people like David Umahi, Okezie Ikpeazu, Nnia Nwodo, Buratai, Willie Obiano and many others.

“They are about to start another Operation Python Dance III exercise tomorrow in Biafra Land. I’m sounding this warning, if any IPOB is killed again in any South-East state, we will come after the children of the governor in the state if any IPOB member is killed. We will go after your children, because we know where they are in Europe and abroad.”

He also warned Yoruba and Hausa Fulani leaders to stay away from the matters of the Igbo.

Nigerians have launched attacks at the fugitive self-acclaimed Igbo leader, calling him a coward.

BleedingPen:
The police in Bayelsa has arrested over 100 members of the Biafra Nations Youth League (BNYL), who were on their way to the inauguration of Biafra National Council (BNC) in the state, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had previously reported that ex Deltan militant, Asari Dokubo, in a statement, said he was inaugurating the BNC to support the IPOB’s Biafra movement and agitation.

An official of the group, Geoffrey Nwosoriba, who confirmed the development to Igbere TV, said the members were on their way to the event when they were arrested and whisked away.

Nwosoriba, who doubles as Secretary to the BNC, said; “I escaped from the arrest along Bayelsa junction. Right now about 100 of our members have been taken to State CID in Yenagoa.

“The Police has not explained what our offences are.”

Meanwhile, some angry Bayelsan youth, on Saturday, chased out Asari Dokubo from venue of the inauguration of the BNC, disrupting the exercise, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV gathered that trouble started when Chairman of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), Kennedy Olorogun, got wind of the meeting and mobilized his council members and other youths to the venue of the gathering.

Olorogun was said to be angry that Dokubo chose Bayelsa, a homogeneous Ijaw state, to hold such meeting and ordered the founder of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF) to leave the state or face the wrath of the youths.

He alleged that Dokubo gathered over 300 persons from across the states in the South-East and South-South regions to hold the meeting.

According to him, the meeting was reportedly convened under the auspices of the Biafra National Council (BNC) and not the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Olorogun said over 300 persons including Dokubo were already gathered at a hotel in Yenagoa when he led Ijaw youths to the place.

He said quarrel ensued between him and Dokubo when he told the former militant leader that the meeting would not hold in Ijawland.

“When we got the information, we stormed the venue of the meeting to stop them.

“They tried to resist us but we told them we were prepared for them because we will not allow any part of Bayelsa to be used for a meeting calling for the actualisation of Biafra.

“I wonder why Dokubo decided to bring such meeting to Bayelsa. But we stopped them.

“It was getting out of hand but the police intervened to stop possible violence. My happiness is that we stopped the meeting from holding,” he told journalists.

BleedingPen:
Governors in the South-East have reacted to the ‘attack on sight’ order issued against them by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV had reported that the IPOB gave a matching order to its members across the world to attack the Governors of Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia and Anambra States anywhere they are seen.

This comes barely 24 hours after Senator Ike Ekweremadu, immediate past Deputy Senate President, was attacked by suspected members of the group in Germany, on Saturday.

Reacting in a statement made available to Igbere TV, Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, said Biafra cannot be achieved without the governors, adding that assaulting them was not the solution to the agitation.

Umahi, who doubles as Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum, said they had no problem with the group to warrant such an order, adding that the insecurity in the region was a nationwide challenge which was under the Federal Government’s command and control.

While condemning the attack on Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Umahi said, “If there is any issue IPOB holds against the governors, they should come home to settle it in Igboland instead of a foreign land.

“What happened was a security issue which was within the purview of the Federal Government. Attacking governors in a foreign land is a wild goose chase. We love them because they are our children.

“IPOB cannot achieve Biafra alone, except with the collaboration of all stakeholders including the governors. They don’t need to attack the governors to achieve Biafra.”

The governors’ forum warned members of the IPOB not to allow political opportunists to use them to destroy the South-East region.

“They should come together and work with the governors and the Ohanaeze Ndigbo to achieve the Igbo Presidency come 2023 instead of fighting the governors. We want them to be close to us instead of taking the struggle to the international arena,” it said.

Governor Umahi, however, described the IPOB’s threats as empty, saying the group lacked the powers to track down any South-East governor anywhere in the world.

“They have no such spread and powers to track down South-East governors for attack anywhere in the world. They are too small. I don’t want to say they sound so cowardly, but they can’t see the governors to attack,” he added.

Handsomecole:
The Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu, has cautioned the northern political elite against canvassing an end to rotational presidency as from 2023.

Kalu, a two-term governor of Abia State, stated this in an interview with our correspondent in Abuja following the call by the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai, for an end to power shift in the country.

He maintained that nobody should canvass an end to power shift until the South-East and the North-East geopolitical zones had produced the President of Nigeria.

The principal officer of the senate noted that the agreement at the end of the 1978 national conference was that all the major ethnic groups in Nigeria must produce the President on a rotational basis.

He said, “Calling for an end to the zoning arrangement now will not bring peace to Nigeria. We have to complete the zoning system. That was the agreement at the earlier constitutional conference. All the major ethnic groups must produce the President before we would all agree that zoning has ended.

“Canvassing the abolition of rotational presidency at this point is not in the interest of the country. It will not bring about unity. Anybody that is saying that the zoning arrangement for the Presidency of Nigeria should be abolished now is trying to cause civil and constitutional crisis which is not good for the society.

“We should manage the crises at hand carefully in this country without causing further havoc. Currently, the unity of the country is under threat with the insecurity of lives and property across Nigeria.”

Kalu warned against causing disunity among Nigerians but rather, everyone must work together to bring the nation back to a stable and peaceful state.

“Governor el-Rufai should know that the South-East and the North-East must produce the President before his call for the abolition of rotational presidency could be considered and adopted.

“Once the two zones have produced the President of Nigeria,  then the position could be free for all. We have started the current zoning arrangement and we can’t change the rules in the middle of the game,” he said.
