This system is just behaving funny, just this morning when i boot the system, it started installing something and when i click to see what was it behold it was installing driver for the sound card. After the installation, everything return to normal and the sound worked, so I thank God but when i shut the system and restarting, the system has return to it initial condition again -No Sound! with the red x over the speaker. What should be responsible for this please because i know it not hardware problem as i thought at first? please give suggestions.

am sorry, i may be posting the wrong thing but it really bothering me and it hard to find a good solution here. my problem is my laptop dv6700. one day, the sound just seize while playing and shows a red X marked against the speaker icon on the taskbar and since then, i've been trying everything possible though through installing sound related drivers but up till now to no avail. am now suspecting that it may be a hardware problem because the sound properties could not be even listed among the items in the Device Manager meaning that there is no sound device. can anyone help on how i can fix this myself? should it be the flex, speaker or board problem? what should i do pls. the message it normally shows is No Audio Output Device installed. Help pls to get my sound back.

Hi,

I turned on my computer a couple of days ago and I found that my volume wasn't working. Instead, there was a red x next ot my speker on my taskbar, and when I moused over it it said, "No Audio Output Deivce is installed". I went over to device manager and checked under "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" and my audio driver was completely missing! No yellow question mark next to it, nothing at all. So I go to the HP website to download the driver and I can't install it, instead I get this error message saying "Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the device for this driver." I've emailed HP support about this and although they were trying to be helpful, I got nowhere with them. I even tried a full system restore, and the problem still persists. Help, I'm stumped!

Just upgrade to a better Windows like Xp or Vista. Windows CE is outdated. You are still living in the past.

My HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop is having sound problem. The sound seized at first then i tried running a sound driver to see if it could help, the driver could not detect the sound card. Then i change the OS from Vista to Win 7 still no change. I even check if i could find the hardware from Driver's Manager, still no way. The Driver's Manager could not detect the sound card after scanning. I don't know what to do next. Should it be from the board? Can I replace the sound card? Just what should I do. Pls help.
