Mattswaggz: He is right right and he is wrong because it all depends on location.....there are places in this country where that 300k can take care of a family comfortably while there are places that it would hardly feed a bachelor comfortably.
Modified:- he is talking about Abuja so he is mostly right in this case. There's is no place you can take care of family comfortably with 300k monthly. We're just romanticizing poverty in this country. Yes it's possible but let's face it, you can't eat good food or do decent things that makes life meaningful. We're really suffering in this continent!😢 |

I wonder if you want him to sell petrol for free. Funny thing is nobody is stopping others from building their own refinery. In fact, the government let their own refineries rot. Politics › Re: What Practical Steps Should Southwest States Take Against Banditry And Terrorism by Elxandre(m): 3:00pm On Jun 06 |
UncleAyo: Please, make your suggestion also. An authorised person may be reading this too and your contributions will help
For me
1. Establish a Comprehensive Resident Identity System
The Each State Government should develop a comprehensive resident identity and address verification system to improve security, planning, and service delivery. Every resident should be encouraged to register through a centralized database linked to verified residential addresses. This system will assist law enforcement agencies in identifying criminal elements, tracking suspicious activities, and improving emergency response capabilities while respecting constitutional rights and privacy protections.
2. Registration and Regulation of Herders
All herders operating within Each State should be required to register with the State Government and the relevant Local Government Authorities before engaging in grazing or livestock activities. Registration should include biometric identification, location of operation, livestock records, and compliance with state regulations. This measure will promote accountability, reduce farmer-herder conflicts, and help security agencies identify unauthorized or suspicious activities.
3. Monitoring and Prevention of Violent Extremism
The government should strengthen collaboration between security agencies, community leaders, and religious organizations to identify and prevent violent extremism. Authorities should monitor and investigate individuals or organizations suspected of supporting terrorism, radicalization, or violent activities, regardless of religious affiliation. Any person found to be promoting or financing terrorism should face prosecution in accordance with Nigerian law.
4. Promote Agricultural Self-Sufficiency
Each Southwest State should invest heavily in agriculture to enhance food security and create employment opportunities. Government support should include access to improved seedlings, mechanized farming, irrigation systems, agricultural training, storage facilities, and access to markets. Increased agricultural productivity will reduce economic vulnerabilities and strengthen rural communities.
5. Develop a Community and Neighbourhood Intelligence Network
A structured neighbourhood intelligence network should be established across communities in each state State. Residents, community leaders, traditional institutions, and security agencies should work together to identify emerging security threats and share relevant information. Such a system should operate within legal frameworks and emphasize the protection of citizens' rights.
6. Eliminate Illegal Settlements in Deep Forest Areas
The government should conduct a comprehensive survey of forest reserves and remote settlements. Unauthorized settlements established in deep forests, particularly those linked to criminal activities, should be dismantled through lawful procedures. Forest reserves should be regularly monitored and patrolled to prevent their use as safe havens for kidnappers, bandits, terrorists, and other criminal groups.
7. Swift Prosecution of Serious Crimes
The State Government should strengthen collaboration with the judiciary and security agencies to ensure the swift investigation and prosecution of kidnapping, terrorism, banditry, illegal arms trafficking, and organized crime. Fast-track procedures should be considered for cases involving serious threats to public safety while ensuring due process and fair trials.
8. Establish Formal Reporting Channels for Suspicious Activities
Multiple reporting channels should be created to enable citizens to report suspicious activities safely and confidentially. These channels may include dedicated hotlines, mobile applications, community liaison officers, and local security committees. Public awareness campaigns should educate citizens on how and when to report security concerns.
9. Promote Civic Education and Constitutional Values
Schools across each State should strengthen civic education programs that teach constitutional rights, responsibilities of citizenship, peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and respect for the rule of law. Young people should be equipped with the knowledge and values necessary to contribute positively to society and resist extremist influences.
10. Prosecute Incitement to Violence
The government should adopt a zero-tolerance approach toward incitement to violence, hatred, terrorism, or public disorder. Individuals who promote violence through public speeches, religious gatherings, traditional institutions, political platforms, social media, or any other means should be investigated and prosecuted according to the law, regardless of their status or background.
11. Expand Vocational and Technical Education
Each State should significantly expand vocational and technical education opportunities to equip young people with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship. Training programs should focus on modern agriculture, information technology, construction, renewable energy, manufacturing, and other high-demand sectors. Empowering youth economically will reduce vulnerability to recruitment by criminal organizations and extremist groups.

bewisemasses: Life is a mystery. U labor for years and look forward to that great achievement Then it comes and still that empty feeling Then u look for others validation and praise to soothe the empty feeling and convince urself that it is not all vanity. The op just proved this when he said the way babes turned to see the car scared him. lol. Check deeply and u will discover that as far as reality is concerned, most of it cud just be an exaggeration of the figment of his imagination becos most people except they have an interest to buy it, wudn't turn to look at this car not with d mirage of cars we've seen online
Indeed life doesn't consist in the abundance of what a man has but his impact thru intense selflessness.
Only when Nigerians, leaders and citizens imbibe this mentality, will our nation be better This is so deep. I've since learnt that material things hardly bring long lasting satisfaction in life. Just like you said you long so much for maybe a car or a house, you get it and 2 months later, it's just another day in your life. |

Science/Technology › Re: Can Static Public IP Address Be Created ? by Elxandre(m): 2:48am On May 16 |
koladata: I've always wonder why we always have to rent or buy a public static I.P address. Who own them? who creates them. I've also noticed that even the big internet service providers do rent it from one hosting company abroad then they sublet it to you.
The first time I realized this limitation was when I tried to personally host my own microsoft sql server on a private server at the office because i was paying too much to hosting companies at the time. I got all the ms sql server configuration right but I needed a public static I.P address to be able to have access to it globally and connect to the apps. So the entire Idea of not having to pay for my own database got defeated. If i have to pay for I.P then i could as well pay the hosting company to host the entire database.
I did a quick research and I got to know that all public I.P addresses have been bought by Americans and Europeans long time ago and Africans where not part of the deal. So we would always have to rent it. But why can't we just create new ones for ourselves
Or maybe I'm not vast in the networking sector to understand how it real works, but I'll really like to know how to create a public I.P address that can belong to only me and no other person uses it. 192.38.499.399.59 or can I just pick a long number with the hope that no other person would use it then make it public, just like how domain name is. Though i would say I've not tested the limit before or I've not tried enough.
Anyone with the idea of how this works?
@seun I thought this problem was only particular to Nigerian ISPs? Always thought foreign ISPs had static IPs which makes them able to pinpoint what a particular user is doing with their network, eg downloading torrents etc. Is that not the case? |

nairalanda1: Yeah, because you people vote for government that would share you money. Not government that would make your country productive. You also refuse to accept the principle of holding your government to accountability, and of paying things like income tax.
Sane countries were not buiilt by good governance, they were built by citizens demanding value for the taxes they paid, and government allowing full scale capitalism. Here in Nigeria, una want government to feed you day and night...and if they no do am, you go cry
The things people praise tinubu and obi for, and even atiku amount to nothing but someone dashing money. Obi dashes 25 million to school...he go make good president. Tinubu does renewed hope giveaway, he is a good guy, atiku donates millions...he is going to be a good president.
That is not what makes a good leader.
But the president that would do like MIllei of argentina and comot all subsides, enforce tax collection at all levels, cut excess staff in the civil service, whether junior or senior staff, and force productivity, you guys no want that kin preside...na oppressor you go call am. Well, Argentina currency as at last week is so strong that their citizens are going to neighbouring countries and mass buying things because the currency now makes sense. But no. You people underestimate the gravity of poverty in Africa. people can barely survive with maybe the 100 to 200ks a lot of people earn and you still want to tax them to death. Don't tell me if wastage and embezzlement is cut, there wouldn't be a lot more available funds to carry out basic infrastructural development at first. Tinubu has cut subsidies, yet where is the improvement generally? Power supply is at its all time worst at the moment, coupled with inflation that has nearly turned the naira to paper. I do not thiink we're ready for massive taxation, and lack of susidies etc yet. Even developed countries still subsidize some aspects of their economy, and they still cry about fuel price or cost of food over there despite their relatively high incomes compared to an African. I find it difficult to understand how we can grow this economy when sufficient power supply is out of reach of the common man. Can we really achieve industrialization without subsidy as incentives? |

If you haven't witnessed anyone physically, at least you read it online how the girl child is killed, butchered and decapitated by your generation.
When you grow up, get married and have a child you'll understand what it means to be protective of the girl child. So you know the guy killed the girl and she couldn't have just died a natural death. Let's stop encouraging hasty conclusions like this. |

Topman7: In future AI will lead to mass abundance.
Poverty will be totally eradicated.
People will be paid a large monthly stipend and will not have to work for a living.
"Work" will be simply your hobby or pastime.
You people are still talking AI.
Wait till its brother, Quantum Computing takes hold.
That's the technology that will elevate today's 3D Printing to actual full matter replication.
Most importantly of course, Food Replicators.
Walk up to your replicator and demand any meal, from Ofe Nsala to French to Chinese.
3 seconds, it appears. HOT AND STEAMING.
Quantum Computing is also what will lead to Teleportation.
Beem me up, Scottie.
And possibly Consciousness Downloads.
If you want to travel to America, instead of boarding a flight, you simply download your Consciousness onto an AI type humanoid at the American end.
Enjoy your vacation and when you're done, return to the transfer hub and reupload your Consciousness back to your original body in Nigeria.
In the next 20 years or even earlier, all this will be commonplace.
AI-powered, self-driving Flying Cars will be more common than the road - based cars we have today.
In about 30 years' time, road-based cars will be like how we regard transport by Donkey today. Are you saying immortality will be achieved in 20 years? Because if consciousness can be transfered, it means the human body is not very pivotal to maintaining lifeless anymore. |

SmartPolician: Many Nigerians don't believe in the electoral process. Someone quoted my comment on Nairaland days ago and was saying that electoral results are written in people's houses.
It's quite worrying that people still hold these views in 2026 when the country has adopted modern technologies like BVAS and iRev to improve the process.
If you review our elections since 1999, you will shocked to discover that it was in 2023 that we had an actual election in Nigeria. My concern is that the beneficiaries of the process want to take us backwards The same election they nearly painted ballot papers with pen wile trying to change figures? |
