Someone who oppress you in Nigeria would be the one shouting 'let's go to court' because justice is sold for a price in Nigerian judiciary system. Why is the husband going to court? That's shameless. Your wife commits adultery and gets disgraced you want to sue the man. 🤣 |

nairalanda1: Maybe, but they are
1. Not being supplied by loss making power sectors
2. Some states, not all states
3. EVERYONE PAYS FOR POWER
4. Because the USA has been paying cost reflective tarrifs for years, the sector has earned enough cash to make price reductions .
5. I know someone in the USA. Her power bills for a month are up to what a Nigerian on band B would spend in three months. Some states you say, yet the least American state is miles clear of any Nigerian state, and definitely uses more energy than any state in Nigeria. 4. Excuses. 5. Yet the person earns maybe 30 times what a Nigerian earns. She probably still complains about power supply. You mentioned band B, why? So she'd therefore have similar usage to a Nigerian on band A right? I see you omitted the part I asked you to be sensitive. Well that's it sha. I don't see anyone asking Americans to shut up when they complain about their just $4/gallon petrol. Let the poor breathe! |
Politics › Re: Fresh Electricity Tariff Hike Looms, Nigeria’s Monthly Power Subsidy Hits N181.B by Elxandre(m): 12:30pm On Sep 23, 2024 |
nairalanda1: No, we don't.
And even then, the fact is, the power sector is in a serious mess because of years of subsidised prices. Naturally, the prices would have to go up so that there would be enough profit to fund repairs and make power supply sustainable....then when that happens, prices go down
We used to have sky high prices in the GSM sector, where one sim could cost you at least N5000 ...even now that was krazy. But the thing is,many of the GSM comapnies came to Nigeria and found zero infrastructure, and they had to build it from scratch...that is why subsidisng gsm service was out of the question
Once they had attracted enough investment, and once they had also attracted competion, prices came down. Now a GSM sim is very very cheap.
It may be cheap oversease, but they do not also have over 30% of their consumers not paying for power, and if you default, you get cut off. IN Nigeria, if you default, you are free to enjoy power for free...and if they come and disconnect you you can chase them off with cutlass.
And that adds to the cost of those who pay. Yes we do. Some states in the USA pay less than 10 cents per kwh. How much is band A again? And they're still planning to increase prices for band A. Meanwhile Americans earn at least 30 times more than Nigerians, and still groan about energy prices. What about fuel prices? Americans can easily fill their tanks for the month with maybe 2 day wages, yet they still complain about prices. In Nigeria, people like you refuse to let masses complain. Do you think you're being sensitive taunting people whose salaries can barely even buy food not to talk of paying bills? I know you can definitely afford most of these things but allow poor people vent. Don't suffocate them! |
Politics › Re: Fresh Electricity Tariff Hike Looms, Nigeria’s Monthly Power Subsidy Hits N181.B by Elxandre(m): 12:14pm On Sep 23, 2024 |
nairalanda1: SO?
If you have a way for us to get 10 billion extra every year, then let us get it and fix power well
If not, keep quiet, and enjoy your power supply.
You are using poverty as an excuse to keep the sector underfunded.
SO , either we pay market price, or we keep enjoying our bad power...because it is what we actually pay for. Did you know that we already pay more than some advanced nations? Market price indeed. |

richmond500: U are asking who is Celine Dion? Omoh, times to end this discussion. MJ died in his prime and was about to do a concert in Berlin. Celine Dion is no more coming to stage which has dropped her popularity, but do not say who is Celine Dion. She is an icon MJ was in his prime at 50? When he died, his last album was like 8 years prior. He was in his prime in the 80s and 90s. |
Celebrities › Re: Between Michael Jackson And CR7 Who Is More Popular? by Elxandre(m): 11:03am On Sep 21, 2024 |
richmond500: first, from the 48 laws of power. If u appear everytime, u will just be average to people, social media and weekly football has made CR7 normal. To see MJ, u have to fly to where he is performing. And he could only do this like once in a month or two, this has given him a godlike aura. CR7 could play three games in a week and u could see him, take pictures with him, ask him to sign ur jersey etc. If social media didn't give u opportunity to see CR7 daily, u will probably fly to Saudi Arabia just to see that legend once before u die. If MJ is always on YouTube, ticktock, Fbk, twitter and performs weekly, do u think people won't get tired of him? Who told you Michael Jackson was invisible sir? 😂 You grew up when he was already a veteran singer. How many 50 year old artists still keep up appearances? |
Celebrities › Re: Between Michael Jackson And CR7 Who Is More Popular? by Elxandre(m): 11:01am On Sep 21, 2024 |
richmond500: Bro, when MJ died, I was about writing waec, that is not infomie generation. He was popular but not much popular than Celine Dion or Westlife, infact he was up there with Celine and I can't tell who was more popular between them, if you were part of that generation u will know that Celine Dion was as popular as MJ, his popularity sky rocketed after his death, imagine if CR7 die today. His funeral will dwarf MJ. If they are in this generation where u could pick phone and see them easily, he won't be a religion, MJ used the power of invisibility to gather cult-like followership. When u appear too much and people see u always, ur value drops, this is what is happening to CR7. If MJ was still alive, you won't compare them, more than half his fans knew about him after he died.
MJ does not have a single song except that is far much more popular than "Titanic" or "I have a dream"? even heal the world cant challenge those two songs he is not where u drop him. You're really not serious for saying MJ was more popular after death. Even my Grandma knew Michael Jackson before his death. Though your age tells me you might not have been fully socially aware of the magnitude of what you're talking about. |

Is it advisable to swap the mdx for a 2008 Toyota camry? Sure. You still have an SUV afterall. It's the reasonable thing to do. |

Politics › Re: Tax; OPEC Reveals Reasons Why dangote Petrol Is Costly In Nigeria by Elxandre(m): 1:03am On Sep 20, 2024 |
Lithiumite: That's still over 2000 naira a liter...they could have as well made it 50 cents a liter since they got oil too..... affordability is relative and in the Nigerian context, pms is available for those who really needs it. 2000/litre is nothing to an average American or European cos they earn maybe $10/hr. Most people don't even earn that in two days in Nigeria. Those who need it like the bikemen transporting poor people right? No wahala. |
Politics › Re: Tax; OPEC Reveals Reasons Why dangote Petrol Is Costly In Nigeria by Elxandre(m): 12:27am On Sep 20, 2024 |
Lithiumite: $4.5 per liter and you call that affordable....a thousand naira is way less than 70 cents.....have people stopped driving or buying cars on Nigerian roads.. gas stations are still being opened daily.
High prices will lead to energy efficiency, dangote is getting his crude at a price and must be allowed to sell at a profit.....we need to unlearn our thought processes that believes we cannot survive without subsidy. It's $4.5/ gallon not per litre. That's roughly $1plus per litre. Is it still cheap or not? |
Politics › Re: Tax; OPEC Reveals Reasons Why dangote Petrol Is Costly In Nigeria by Elxandre(m): 12:06am On Sep 20, 2024 |
Lithiumite: Right how......so dangote should give you the petrol for free or what..... The US and Saudi Arabia has far more oil than Nigeria but petrol isn't cheap in those countries.
You are even lucky dangote is selling below 1,300 go check the international price for crude then you know the price is fair. Petrol is cheap in the USA. Why do you guys do this? Is affordability not directly proportional to income? Americans an sort their monthly fuel bills from less than a days work while minimum wage can't fill some cars in Nigeria. |

EJEGBULEJE: is manner of coming to EFCC was a breach of our protocol. No Nigerian, no matter how highly placed, is expected to come for an invitation in a convoy of vehicles and with a sitting governor.
“To the EFCC, he came with grandeur which is contrary to our procedures.
“There are stages of documentation which Bello skipped because he was with the governor who has immunity.
“The EFCC also did not invite the governor. So, what was the basis for accompanying Bello to our headquarters in Abuja?
“We have not been comfortable with the roles of the governor in this case.
“After fulfilling all procedures of documentation, Bello was expected to come with his lawyer(s) and not a governor or Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs).
“We cannot be intimidated or subject our system to political pollution.
“This made the Executive Chairman of EFCC to direct that no official should attend to Bello. He must undergo due process like every invitee.
“The commission was unhappy with the pre-emptive propaganda in the media by Bello’s team which had created false impressions.
“There was a narration that the ex-governor was already in EFCC’s custody.” A source told The Nation. So if a terrorist walks into police headquarters in a convoy, he wouldn't be arrested? Just ridiculous! |

BoldBrainz: Some of you talk carelessly.
It's no wonder this country doesn't progress beyond the third world status. Must you wake up everyday and live stupidly only to expect the government to fix everything?
Yes, electricity rates are high but we all know Nigerians waste electricity for the fun of it. Now that we are at cross-roads, let us as a people endeavour to fix our excesses while we hold the government to proper accounts.
Who knows if the weyrey in the video leaves his room AC running through the day even while he's away at work, just so he meets the room cold upon his return? Same thing I do.
10K for weekly electricity sef in a family setting like what's perceivable in the video, omoh na cruise!
Electricity is expensive. And most of you Nigerians don't even know that apart from Lagos, Kaduna, Abuja and Ogun state, the transmission lines of the rest of the Nation needs overhauling and replacement. But your leaders are still struggling with how to break the news to you without a backlash. 10k weekly is too little for the family right? Now what's the average income of a family man in Nigeria? It's easy to quote prices of commodities in America and USA and not realize they earn at least 30 more times than we do. Now, even Americans with their high wages complain about petrol and energy prices too. You'd expect them to not complain right? So why is it surprising Nigerians with one of the lowest income rates in the world are groaning? Perhaps we could even understand better if the leaders cut their excesses a bit but they keep replenishing their ostentatious office perks. We are never going to see industrialization in Africa if we continue to leave energy unaffordable. |

FreeStuffsNG: Se bo ti mo bi elewa Sapon. If you buy N10k today and switch on your 3hp Air-conditioners in all the rooms , it will finish same day now even within a week. I know someone who manages N5k in 3 weeks yet lives in a 2 bedroom flat. Cut your coat according to your cloth. The era of subsidizing electricity inefficiencies for urban dwellers at the expense of poor and vulnerable Nigerians in villages is gone. Maybe you don't live in a Nigerian city or you live abroad. 5k band A can never make it past a week, no matter how judiciously you use it. |
