U are asking who is Celine Dion?
Omoh, times to end this discussion.
MJ died in his prime and was about to do a concert in Berlin.
Celine Dion is no more coming to stage which has dropped her popularity, but do not say who is Celine Dion. She is an icon
MJ was in his prime at 50?
When he died, his last album was like 8 years prior.
He was in his prime in the 80s and 90s.

first, from the 48 laws of power.
If u appear everytime, u will just be average to people, social media and weekly football has made CR7 normal.
To see MJ, u have to fly to where he is performing. And he could only do this like once in a month or two, this has given him a godlike aura.
CR7 could play three games in a week and u could see him, take pictures with him, ask him to sign ur jersey etc.
If social media didn't give u opportunity to see CR7 daily, u will probably fly to Saudi Arabia just to see that legend once before u die. If MJ is always on YouTube, ticktock, Fbk, twitter and performs weekly, do u think people won't get tired of him?
Who told you Michael Jackson was invisible sir? 😂
You grew up when he was already a veteran singer.
How many 50 year old artists still keep up appearances?

Bro, when MJ died, I was about writing waec, that is not infomie generation.
He was popular but not much popular than Celine Dion or Westlife, infact he was up there with Celine and I can't tell who was more popular between them, if you were part of that generation u will know that Celine Dion was as popular as MJ, his popularity sky rocketed after his death, imagine if CR7 die today. His funeral will dwarf MJ.
If they are in this generation where u could pick phone and see them easily, he won't be a religion, MJ used the power of invisibility to gather cult-like followership. When u appear too much and people see u always, ur value drops, this is what is happening to CR7.
If MJ was still alive, you won't compare them, more than half his fans knew about him after he died.

MJ does not have a single song except that is far much more popular than "Titanic" or "I have a dream"? even heal the world cant challenge those two songs he is not where u drop him.
You're really not serious for saying MJ was more popular after death.
Even my Grandma knew Michael Jackson before his death. Though your age tells me you might not have been fully socially aware of the magnitude of what you're talking about.

Sure. You still have an SUV afterall.
It's the reasonable thing to do.

Fully concur with all the comments here. I'd also say it's about the same for the RDX, except you'd properly spend a bit less. That said the RDX is FUN to drive, I'd dare say it's not so far from your ZDX in how beautifully it handles grin
How reliable is it sir? Does it develop faults often? Especially the turbo.

Lithiumite:

That's still over 2000 naira a liter...they could have as well made it 50 cents a liter since they got oil too..... affordability is relative and in the Nigerian context, pms is available for those who really needs it.
2000/litre is nothing to an average American or European cos they earn maybe $10/hr.
Most people don't even earn that in two days in Nigeria.

Those who need it like the bikemen transporting poor people right?
No wahala.
Politics / Re: Tax; OPEC Reveals Reasons Why dangote Petrol Is Costly In Nigeria by Elxandre(m): 12:27am On Sep 20
Lithiumite:

$4.5 per liter and you call that affordable....a thousand naira is way less than 70 cents.....have people stopped driving or buying cars on Nigerian roads.. gas stations are still being opened daily.

High prices will lead to energy efficiency, dangote is getting his crude at a price and must be allowed to sell at a profit.....we need to unlearn our thought processes that believes we cannot survive without subsidy.
It's $4.5/ gallon not per litre.
That's roughly $1plus per litre.
Is it still cheap or not?
Politics / Re: Tax; OPEC Reveals Reasons Why dangote Petrol Is Costly In Nigeria by Elxandre(m): 12:06am On Sep 20
Lithiumite:

Right how......so dangote should give you the petrol for free or what..... The US and Saudi Arabia has far more oil than Nigeria but petrol isn't cheap in those countries.

You are even lucky dangote is selling below 1,300 go check the international price for crude then you know the price is fair.
Petrol is cheap in the USA.
Why do you guys do this?
Is affordability not directly proportional to income?

Americans an sort their monthly fuel bills from less than a days work while minimum wage can't fill some cars in Nigeria.

EJEGBULEJE:

is manner of coming to EFCC was a breach of our protocol. No Nigerian, no matter how highly placed, is expected to come for an invitation in a convoy of vehicles and with a sitting governor.

“To the EFCC, he came with grandeur which is contrary to our procedures.

“There are stages of documentation which Bello skipped because he was with the governor who has immunity.

“The EFCC also did not invite the governor. So, what was the basis for accompanying Bello to our headquarters in Abuja?

“We have not been comfortable with the roles of the governor in this case.

“After fulfilling all procedures of documentation, Bello was expected to come with his lawyer(s) and not a governor or Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs).

“We cannot be intimidated or subject our system to political pollution.

“This made the Executive Chairman of EFCC to direct that no official should attend to Bello. He must undergo due process like every invitee.

“The commission was unhappy with the pre-emptive propaganda in the media by Bello’s team which had created false impressions.

“There was a narration that the ex-governor was already in EFCC’s custody.” A source told The Nation.
So if a terrorist walks into police headquarters in a convoy, he wouldn't be arrested?
Just ridiculous!

BoldBrainz:

Some of you talk carelessly.

It's no wonder this country doesn't progress beyond the third world status. Must you wake up everyday and live stupidly only to expect the government to fix everything?

Yes, electricity rates are high but we all know Nigerians waste electricity for the fun of it. Now that we are at cross-roads, let us as a people endeavour to fix our excesses while we hold the government to proper accounts.

Who knows if the weyrey in the video leaves his room AC running through the day even while he's away at work, just so he meets the room cold upon his return? Same thing I do.

10K for weekly electricity sef in a family setting like what's perceivable in the video, omoh na cruise!

Electricity is expensive. And most of you Nigerians don't even know that apart from Lagos, Kaduna, Abuja and Ogun state, the transmission lines of the rest of the Nation needs overhauling and replacement. But your leaders are still struggling with how to break the news to you without a backlash.
10k weekly is too little for the family right?
Now what's the average income of a family man in Nigeria?

It's easy to quote prices of commodities in America and USA and not realize they earn at least 30 more times than we do.
Now, even Americans with their high wages complain about petrol and energy prices too. You'd expect them to not complain right? So why is it surprising Nigerians with one of the lowest income rates in the world are groaning?
Perhaps we could even understand better if the leaders cut their excesses a bit but they keep replenishing their ostentatious office perks.

We are never going to see industrialization in Africa if we continue to leave energy unaffordable.

I personally don't have a problem with the price of electricity, though I can understand that the experience of those in Band A is probably different.

I have always used electricity judiciously, so any pre paid electricity I buy tends to last for a reasonable length of time.

I have always been fastidious about switching off all gadgets FROM THE WALL.

First thing I do when I get out of bed is to pull my curtains so I take advantage of natural light. So, most if not all internal lights are off for most parts of the day unless I absolutely need it.

If I am leaving a room and not returning to that room within 5 mins, I switch off the light. Lights in any room that is not occupied is always switched off.

These are just habits that have become part of my routine. I don't do them because of electricity bill, but it has a very positive effect on my electricity bill. I have not bought electricity for about 3 months now, so cost of electricity is really not an issue for me.

Many Nigerians use electricity wastefully because we have one of the cheapest electricity prices in the world. But that is going to change with the introduction of new bands.

Try band A and testify. 😉

Answer the question. Show your intelligence and tell us where the money for subsidy is to come from. No need for story.

All I need are the figures and I will swallow humble pie.

Just like arsehol3s, everybody has an opinion, they are subjective. Figures don’t lie. Drop your figures or stop disturbing my peace with your emotional ignorant and unenligtened drivel!

I just saw your comment about the highway. You are the same sort of m0ron that supported subsidy instead of building refineries and power stations. Now you think it is better to pay for subsidies so we can ply bad roads instead of building good roads. In a few years the same eeediots like you will come and say see the roads in China

And by the way, the government is only paying N1 trillion out of the N14 trillion for the road. The rest will be financed by the contractor and recovered through tolling. Shows how uninformed you are and why I shouldn’t waste my time with ignoramuses.
Who is emotional now with the insults?
You have just proven how unwise you are if you think the government is useful if it can proffer solutions. They got a solution to fund the unnecessary highway but no solution to get 10bn dollars to produce necessary stable power or make energy cheaper in general.
Get out of here jare.

I appreciate sensible comments, I don’t appreciate emotional or ignorant ones.

I am going to ask you the same question I ask people like you. BTW I have yet to receive an answer.

Where is the money for subsidy to come from? Go through our budget and tell me what items you want to cut so we can maintain subsidy. Don’t forget NNPC is owing our suppliers $6.8b for subsidies and they have not remitted a single dime to the federation account for months. We are surviving largely on vat, customs and company taxes

You can have a look at the budget via the link below and tell us what you want to cut to pay for subsidies.

https://budgetoffice.gov.ng/index.php/resources/internal-resources/budget-documents/2024-budget
I also appreciate non biased respectful comments too. You're not a benchmark of intelligence to infer my comment as senseless.

I see you conveniently avoided the waste of money on things like the 15trn Highway.
We are so poor but we can afford an expensive white elephant project.
We waste a lot of money on pointless endeavors but cut money on the basics such as power, education, etc.

Meanwhile let me highlight that I know Nigeria is not a wealthy country, but you people don't seem to understand priority. Fuel subsidy or Cheap constant power is a priority of we're going to evolve and become an industrialized nation. Businesses are closing down cos of exorbitant power costs and you tell me it's not a necessity?
What is the point of increased cost of fuel when people begin to ration the usage cos they simply can't afford it with their little income?

What many of you champion is textbook economics without a human context.

China has cheap electricity because they invested heavily in cheap hydro plants amongst others. When you were spending $6-$10b a year on subsidies to burn petrol in smoke, why didn’t you ask why we weren’t using that money to build cheap hydro power stations or refineries? Why didn’t you ask why were we subsidizing petrol for jeeps but diesel for industries have had subsidies removed for over 3 years? Now suddenly you remember industrialization?

China is where it is because they made the right decisions, we are where we are because we didn’t…simple! We chose to waste billions via the exhaust pipes of consumers, they chose to subsidize production.

So let's be stuck in undevelopment perpetually?
The simple truth is a responsible government will find a way to curb the waste and corruption of subsidy. And don't tell me it's impossible.
All of Africa is irresponsible and that is why we have unaffordable energy and keep crying we don't manufacture anything. How can we? With what means?
You really believe China didn't have affordable energy during their industrial boom?
How many mega power stations are being planned right now, since you mentioned China's cheap hydro electricity?
Oh, I forgot they have a very important 15 trillion unnecessary highway to spend money on. 😂

Subsidy is good if you can pay for it. If you can’t afford it then you are only harming your economy and your citizens. How can a country pay more in subsidy than education, health agriculture, defense, roads combined and think subsidy is good?

What kind of reasoning makes a man to conclude it is ok to drive big engined cars with subsidized fuel spending valuable hours in traffic on bad roads to take your children to dilapidated schools to get substandard education that can’t get them a job or to drive to poorly equipped hospitals that can’t cure your sickness because all the money has been diverted to subsidize fuel?

Is the value we get from this fuel subsidy worth bad education bad roads, poor health facilities, insecurity, etc etc?
How are we going to achieve industrialization with expensive energy?
Did you know China pays lesser for electricity compared to Nigeria?
Now average citizens in Nigeria can't afford neither Band A NEPA nor Petrol, how are we supposed to achieve industrialization?

False.

Please other than Arab, basket case Venezuela and a few other similar countries, which other countries subsidise petrol in the world?

What the writer wrote is correct.

You subsidise if you can afford it. But borrowing huge sums and getting yourself into multi generational debt to subsidise petrol is something only a backward African country like Nigeria will insist on doing.

Even in poor Niger Republic, Ghana, and other neighbouring countries petrol is sold around N1300 even though both Niger Republic and Ghana also produce crude oil.

So why should Nigerians insist on buying it for N400. Some even want it to be sold cheaper than that

Nigerians need to understand that there is no constitutional right to cheap petrol.

Fuel subsidy should be removed patapata. Mr Jonathan should have done it but he panicked at the sight of protesters at Ojota. Mr Tinubu should remove it 100%.

Those who want to protest should be allowed to do so to their hearts content.

Subsidy is nothing but an albatross strangulation the economic future of this country.

They subsidize things that might be too expensive to afford for their populace.
An American can easily afford petrol at $1/litre without knowing he bought anything. Can same be said of Africans? These people earn maybe 100 more times than Africans are we want to use them as a reference.
How are we suppose to grow our industries with expensive energy unaffordable by the common man?

If the business finally "shows workings" are now Cash flow profit plus positive /fat net profit, then we can understand
