Thanks. I have requested for the GCMS notes and hopefully I'll make a decision from it

Ikechi12:
Hello bro, your GCMS notes will make things clearer. I also had a similar issue like you. Same with someone else here. I applied from the UK few months to my study permit expiration and was rejected.
This is the reason why I am feeling that it may be the chief reason.
Some countries boldly tell you to have at least 6 months residency in the country you're applying from, but Canada seems not to be straightforward in that regard. Hence, my suspicion.
But let's wait for the GCMS notes sha.

Qatar residence permit is usually valid for one year and renewable by your employer. Mine will expire in Feb 2022.

Ikechi12:
Hello. Sorry for the rejection.
How long is your residence permit in Qatar? Usually, if you have a short residency, it's a problem.
So while you wait for your GCMS notes, try to extend your residency in Qatar.

Order your gcms note to know exactly your application was denied.

Hi guys, I just got a decision and unfortunately it was rejected due to

1 - Family ties in Canada and country of residence (I reside in Qatar).
I don't have any direct family member in Canada nor in Qatar. I used Nigeria in my application as my family ties and tried to prove it using my properties and siblings and mother.

2 - Based on purpose of visit.

How can I address this? I feel very gutted with this decision. I'm consodering abandoning the whole thing as I know I put forward a very tight application covering all aspects.

Do I continue with the current passport?

Will this affect my study permit application?

Thanks in anticipation of your valuable responses.

Hello Guys,
I am about to start the study visa application. I'm not resident in Nigeria at the moment and would like to use my bank account in Nigeria as part of document. Is it possible to get it from my bank? Anyone got experience in obtaining statements without physically going to the branch?

Thanks

Why not apply for a course in ur electrical engineering path, Once u get ur visa u can change to whatever course u wish.. Don't know how it work sha, but I think it's possible...
Thanks I might consider this route. Do you know anyone that have done so before? I don't want to go through masters due to cost, Is PGD after a BSC and years of experience a red flag?

Chocs:
Hello em3kae88,

Why supply chain management? Any work experience in the field? Any degree in the field? You need to be able to explain why you want to make the switch. Convincing reason with proof. Else, it might lead to a denial just as you have rightly read.

Best wishes
Thanks for your reply. I have been in construction for a long time and want to do something else with broad career opportunities. I don't have a specific experience or degree in the field but I am convinced my skills from managing large construction projects can be transferred to supply chain management. It is a tough call but what would you suggest?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by em3kae88: 10:32am On Nov 10, 2020
Hello Guys,

I have over 7 years experience working as an electrical engineer in construction and I want to utilize the study-PR option to migrate to Canada but with a switch in career to supply chain management through a PGD program. I have read stories of visa denial when your course of admission does not match with your experience which is making me to develop cold feet. Please I would appreciate a candid advise on my situation and chances of getting a visa.

Thank you very much for this.

Ticha:
Aim for universities outside Auckland to get the 3 years - Massey in Palmerston North, Waikato Uni in Hamilton (huge construction work going on around that area plus it's 1.5 hours from Auckland) Lincoln Uni in ChCh(again massive redevelopment going on there too). With your work experience, you should be able to pick up a job in your field easily.

Hello House,

Please does IQAS assess CIMA certificate as additional certificate. I assessed my Degree with them last year and want to add the CIMA as additional certificate. Thanks.

mcobex:
Any particular reason why are you going for a diploma in IT(apart from the 3 years post study visa)? Because you can also get that as long as you are going for a program with at least 2 years duration.
Back to the main issue at hand, you stand a better chance going for a course relating to your previous course of study or your present job experience. i.e you should go for masters or PGD in electrical electronics engineering related course or construction/building engineering. That way it will be much easier to convince the visa officer of your plans
Thanks for the feedback. Aside the 3 years post study visa which is the main reason, I was considering the job market in Canada and thought an IT or business related course could give me an upper hand. I did not consider masters in engineering because it might not be relevant to get a job as I heard employers don't consider higher degrees. PGD is 1 year I believe, so it will not be possible. I will consider other construction/building related courses. I will appreciate any other insights. Thank you.

Hello House

My profile is:
Age - 31
Degree - Electrical/Electronic Engineering
Experience - 7 years and counting in Construction in the middle east

I intend to take the study route to Canada by doing a diploma in IT which gives a 3 years post study visa. I have read about visa denials when one opts for diploma. Do I stand a good chance?

If I proceed, it will be fully self financed. Will that pose a problem during visa application? I intend to use my assets and properties in Nigeria as a proof of ties to Nigeria.

I'd appreciate your valuable contributions.

Dear @bellong, Thanks for all you do here. I would like to PM you for professional advice regarding Australia migration. I am at a crossroads regarding decisions to be made. I would not mind paying a fee for this as my situation is quite peculiar and requires exploring alternatives hence your expert opinions. Thanks in anticipation of your feedback.
TravelRe: 8 Things You Need To Know About New Zealand by em3kae88: 10:22am On May 19, 2020
I have gone through most of this thread and it has been quite useful. Here is my case; I am a 31 year old Electrical Engineer in Qatar with 7+ years construction sector experience. I intend to move away from Qatar to a country with a PR pathway ASAP. I saw that NZ gives 3 years post study visa after masters and got interested hence why I came to this thread. Is it easier to obtain PR after completing a masters or any degree PG course? Which schools would you advise I apply to? I would appreciate any insight and advice from the elders in the house as I start this journey. Thanks
