Hi guys, I just got a decision and unfortunately it was rejected due to 1 - Family ties in Canada and country of residence (I reside in Qatar). I don't have any direct family member in Canada nor in Qatar. I used Nigeria in my application as my family ties and tried to prove it using my properties and siblings and mother. 2 - Based on purpose of visit. How can I address this? I feel very gutted with this decision. I'm consodering abandoning the whole thing as I know I put forward a very tight application covering all aspects. |
Hello Guys, I'm in the process of applying for my study visa and would like to get opinions as I'm still packaging document. Below is my profile Age - 32, single. Program -1 year Post Diploma in Project Management, Work Experience - 8 years as an Electrical Engineer in construction in Middle East Self sponsored. Full fees paid and intend to make GIC deposits for cost of living. I will be using my 2 houses and immediate family as home ties. Future plans will be Job prospects in Nigeria (already applied for 2). Please I need opinions of those with experience if there is anything else I could add/adjust/remove to have a watertight application. Thanks |
I'm about to write my SOP and would like to see samples from guys that have had their permits. I know that no two SOPs are the same however, I need templates to guide me. Thanks |

My passport expires in August 2022 and I want to start study permit application for my program that starts in May 2022. I can't get apply for a new passport now since the current one still has a validity of a year. Do I continue with the current passport? Will this affect my study permit application? Hello Guys, I am about to start the study visa application. I'm not resident in Nigeria at the moment and would like to use my bank account in Nigeria as part of document. Is it possible to get it from my bank? Anyone got experience in obtaining statements without physically going to the branch? Thanks |
topacs:Thanks I might consider this route. Do you know anyone that have done so before? I don't want to go through masters due to cost, Is PGD after a BSC and years of experience a red flag? |
Chocs:Thanks for your reply. I have been in construction for a long time and want to do something else with broad career opportunities. I don't have a specific experience or degree in the field but I am convinced my skills from managing large construction projects can be transferred to supply chain management. It is a tough call but what would you suggest? |
Hello Guys, I have over 7 years experience working as an electrical engineer in construction and I want to utilize the study-PR option to migrate to Canada but with a switch in career to supply chain management through a PGD program. I have read stories of visa denial when your course of admission does not match with your experience which is making me to develop cold feet. Please I would appreciate a candid advise on my situation and chances of getting a visa. |
Thank you very much for this. Ticha: |
Hello House, Please does IQAS assess CIMA certificate as additional certificate. I assessed my Degree with them last year and want to add the CIMA as additional certificate. Thanks. |
mcobex:Thanks for the feedback. Aside the 3 years post study visa which is the main reason, I was considering the job market in Canada and thought an IT or business related course could give me an upper hand. I did not consider masters in engineering because it might not be relevant to get a job as I heard employers don't consider higher degrees. PGD is 1 year I believe, so it will not be possible. I will consider other construction/building related courses. I will appreciate any other insights. Thank you. |
Hello House My profile is: Age - 31 Degree - Electrical/Electronic Engineering Experience - 7 years and counting in Construction in the middle east I intend to take the study route to Canada by doing a diploma in IT which gives a 3 years post study visa. I have read about visa denials when one opts for diploma. Do I stand a good chance? If I proceed, it will be fully self financed. Will that pose a problem during visa application? I intend to use my assets and properties in Nigeria as a proof of ties to Nigeria. I'd appreciate your valuable contributions. |
Dear @bellong, Thanks for all you do here. I would like to PM you for professional advice regarding Australia migration. I am at a crossroads regarding decisions to be made. I would not mind paying a fee for this as my situation is quite peculiar and requires exploring alternatives hence your expert opinions. Thanks in anticipation of your feedback. |
I have gone through most of this thread and it has been quite useful. Here is my case; I am a 31 year old Electrical Engineer in Qatar with 7+ years construction sector experience. I intend to move away from Qatar to a country with a PR pathway ASAP. I saw that NZ gives 3 years post study visa after masters and got interested hence why I came to this thread. Is it easier to obtain PR after completing a masters or any degree PG course? Which schools would you advise I apply to? I would appreciate any insight and advice from the elders in the house as I start this journey. Thanks |
