But if this record is as "noteworthy" as you claim, why didn't we all globally revere Ali daei before now?

It's a nice feat but not as large as made out to be BECAUSE of its inevitability. A player with cr7's caliber is naturally expected to get to 100 goals having played since 2003 (17 years).
