Asisat Oshoala’s retirement post appears to be a direct consequence of her reaction during the second game, where she stormed off the field after being substituted. This speaks volumes, especially considering Coach Justin Madugu’s clear stance at the recent press conference—he emphasized his intention not to build the team around any one superstar. There had already been noticeable tension regarding Oshoala’s inclusion in the starting lineup even before the tournament began, and that tension only intensified after two underwhelming performances. Madugu, to his credit, chose not to entertain the kind of behind-the-scenes drama we saw in the past involving Onome Ebi, Rita Chikwelu, Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozie, and Amaju Pinnick. I applaud him for standing firm in his decisions—those moves likely helped prevent an early exit. Also worthy of note is that Oshoala seems to have come to terms with the fact that she’s no longer at her peak, either for club or country. With Amaju Pinnick no longer in the picture to force certain selections, the team is clearly entering a new, merit-based era. I wish Asisat all the best in her future endeavors. |

enomakos:Abeg ooo, which Ihezuo? Ayam not understanding!? ![]() |
Deltamani:Absolutely 💯 Maybe AkinDS is mixing 'em up! |
AkinDS:You are just being emotional over nothing. Gift Monday hasn't exactly delivered for the Super Falcons. Speak with facts and not emotions. As for me, I don't belong to the school of thought that loves suggesting to sportspeople how and when to retire. Time will always tell and retire them effectively. Atimes we forget that life after playing sports is something these people actually can't fathom and as such not everyone approaches with a particular mindset. E no easy o, make we no dey deceive ourselves. Not all of our most prominent global icons chose how and when to retire. Time took/takes charge. Ijamilusi slow? Oh well...I guess we have players with variegated weaknesses, similar to how their strengths are. Let's just support the choices of the coach and move on...no list would ever be perfect for all. Kapish!? |
- Madugu has done well with this list.. - Gift Monday is the Victor Boniface of the Super Falcons, so make we all calm down on the matter abeg. - Ordega is being given her last hurrah, something Onome should have done graciously. Watch Franny sign out on a high! - Chioma Okafor is a beast. Our own Anas Yusuf! - The midfield and attack is solid enough. No emotions about this, Oshoala must not be allowed to start, she is better off playing from the bench where she can add impact based on experience. - Ijamilusi is also another player that can prove her mettle. Sad that Mercy Omokwo had injury issues earlier in the year, it would have been nice to see how NWFL sensations are getting better representation in the S/Falcons. - Our midfield combo is crucial to the results we will get, so they need to get the right fixes for us, else Mission X go turn to Demotion Z 😎 - |

dankorode:I agree with you totally 💯 |
oweniwe:Talk is not cheap...na your comment no get value! There is a reason why she is a professional, gets the flaws and plaudits where applicable, just like we do get ours in our different disciplines and workplaces! Victor Boniface had been firing on all cylinders for his club. Onumonu just most recently hit top form! Big Difference! Onumonu got playing time based on Waldrum's Americanized selection pattern ahead of others that should be making the team, yet hardly did she make it count, not because she was played out of position or was out of luck, she just simply didn't cut it. Now, she has started to look that part, so you can rest on comparing her with Boniface! |
oweniwe:Which Onumonu? She has had only a few good games for the Falcons. For the numerous times Waldrum played her at the detriment of others, she ought to have done more! Troost matured into a superb player without Leon as his partner. When the Oyinbo wall existed, it didn't mean they were the best really, It was just a unique nomenclature for our half-caste guys and not because as a duo they were impenetrable! |
TheSuperNerd:One thing is sure...they will not be relegated! 💯 |
daveP:Dey play 😁 No be tournament and it's been majorly like this even before Justina know say e go ever carry camera 😃 |

guobe:Dem don chop home loss immediately after ![]() |
Playing time Onumonu and Oshoala had been getting even when they weren't up to scratch may be part of why Kanu hasn't really impressed enough. She has to exorcize those demons! TheSuperNerd: |
