Islam couldn't penetrate SE because early missioners (CMS) first arrived here though some of them were merchants. They were able to spread the gospel of Christianity and our people accepted though about 2% still hold strongly to traditional belief. There's no room for Islam in Southeast. That doesn't mean there's no mosque where abokis and afonja Muslims worship anytime they're in SouthEast but you see Igbo blood accepting to have a black muslim prayer dot on his forehead is not possible. That's the reality you have to accept. An average Igbo man will rather practice Traditional religion than join Islam.
