Nigeria’s former Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has said President Muhammadu Buhari’s unguarded utterances was responsible for plunging Nigeria into recession.

“I still find it funny that most people don’t know why Nigeria economy went into recession, they love the incompetent lies of Lai Mohammed about the past government ruining everything.

“It’s also myopic to think that if Jonathan were to still be in power, we would be worse off.

“The truth about Nigeria’s recession is this; it was caused by the president’s unguided rhetoric and uncultured body language.

“Firstly, there is nothing we are buying today that we weren’t buying 5 years ago, therefore it’s not our purchase that put pressure on Naira but withdrawal of funds by foreign investors.

“After the election, the president created instability with his unguided statements about how everyone is corrupt and how everyone is going to jail. The instability made foreign investors to liquidate their investment and change their money to dollars.
In the process of trying to flee, they were willing to buy dollars at any price, which lead to high exchange dollar rate.

“Even though some of them were not ready to run away, but want their money in dollars to save their investments from devaluation, the president gave a bad signal by banning deposit of foreign currency into dormiciliary accounts.

“That was enough for free market believers to see the draconian handwriting on the wall, that was the beginning of dollar rush.

“To make matters worse, the president came up with another outrageous policy of rationing dollar to certain sectors and blocking many sectors out. That was the nail in the coffin which facilitated the emergence of free FALL.
In the end, foreign investors took over $80B out of the economy within a short period and everything went down to free fall.

“To those who believe it will be worse if Jonathan is still there, you are all wrong. Policy continuity and political stability will not let billions of dollars leave our shores within such tiny time frame. Even though the government might have income shortage, the private sector will weather the storm by their confidence in the market.

“The fear of the unknown created by PMB is responsible for the economic downturn not low oil price. Interest rate in America is currently at 0.5% while it is 12% in Nigeria. JP Morgan Chase will not mind borrowing $50 billion from Feds at 0.5 and put in Nigeria for return of %2000 profit. Citi bank will do the same, likewise US Bank Corp. Chase gave Buhari warning about the repercussions of his fixing policy before they pulled out, but his illiterate cyber warriors and misseducated e-soldiers said JPMORGAN can go to hell, they no longer believe in economic metrics since their messiah is in charge.

“Funny enough they are all suffering today because of the stupid policy, but they find relief by blaming it on past administration and Gucci appetite of average Nigerians.

“For your information, if your president “continues” with his unguided rhetoric, Naira will go down to N1000/$1. But we thank God, he is no longer talking.” she said.

For those commentators in this forum who have never participated in or understand Nigerian politics but who tend to speak and act as if they are the only ones that are sincere about restructuring I have the following to say.

I hope you have learnt a lesson or two from the fact that during the constitutional review exercise that took place in the last few days the Senate has refused to devolve power from the centre and initiate the process for genuine restructuring in our country.

These are the hard facts, hidden obstacles and bitter realities about the struggle that some of us that are in the field have been facing and complaining about for the last 25 years!

From henceforth let it be clearly understood by all, including those that desire restructuring but who gave never participated in Nigerian politics, that we can never achieve it through the existing constitutional structure or the National Assembly.

This is because the system is rigged and designed to protect and preserve itself and because the core north effectively has a power of veto in the National Assembly which it will always exercise in order to block any form of restructuring. It is this point that people like Nnamdi Kanu and other ethnic nationalist leaders came to appreciate long ago and it explains their "hardline" posture on these issues.

The bottom line is as follows: restructuring will not be given to us freely or on a platter of gold.

It must be taken and if necessary it must be taken by force.

Finally mark this: if it does not eventually come then I say let us cease to be one nation.

I would rather live as a free man in an independent Oduduwa Republic than continue to live and die as a slave in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

37 out 154 Kano State Nursing students in Egypt will return home due to poor academic performance.

This followed report from the Faculty of Nursing of Mansoura University to the consultant overseeing the welfare of the students submitted to Scholarship board.

The report indicated that the 37 students risk withdrawal due to their poor performance in 2 semesters.

The students could not make 2.0 GPA for the 2 consecutive semesters of 2015/2016 academic year, despite what the report refer to as, close academic supervision and support during their summer semester.

The Kano Government based on the report and discussion with the consultant decided to provide return tickets to the students to enable them come home and chat another academic programme.

Meanwhile, 12 out of the remaining 98 students who will complete their study in August, this year have also been provided with their return tickets.

It is important to advise students to stop hiding under political sentiment to cover their deficiency.

It would be recalled that no Kano State foreign students was returned without completing his study despite economic and political challenges being faced by the government.

If Dr. John Danfulani embraces Nnamdi Kanu, we should be challenged to reflect on its implications for Arewa's unity. Professor Dakum Shawn of Plateau State had previously said that, in the event of Nigeria's dismemberment, the Christian minorities of the North would rather go with the Igbos than to politically cohabit with the Hausa/Fulani. What becomes of the notion of a formidably united Arewa? As a political entity, the North is disturbingly becoming ever more fissiparous and vulnerably divided against itself. John Danfulani is a metaphor of everything wrong with the North. If your son deserts you to seek comfort, companionship and love in the house of your neighbour, shouldn't you be worried that your house is not in order? We should be asking: what has gone wrong? What did we do wrong? Why do we hate one another so much? Why do we fight ourselves like Kilkenny Cats on account of ethnic and religious bigotry? Was this the dream of Sardauna Sir Ahmadu Bello? Rather than perceiving John Danfulani as the enemy(I don't support his hate speech posts on Facebook), we should be challenged to think over why he chose to identify with Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader. We should stop whistling in the dark and embrace the discomforting reality of dangerous divisions threatening the very existence of Arewa. The recent violence in Sardauna Local Government of Taraba State and others before it, fed by ethnic and religious antagonism, should be urgently taken seriously and urgently discussed. We simply cannot continue like this and hope to survive.

#Egbon Femi Adesina's arrogance of power

I just read Egbon Femi Adesina's Epistle titled, "PMB AND THE DESCENDANTS OF SHIMEI" in which he likened Nigerians that are asking questions about the state of health of President Buhari to the descendants of the Biblical Shimei, the son of Gera.

Let me bring the attention of Egbon Femi Adesina to what happened in the United States of America this week.

Senator John McCain of the USA who is about same age with Buhari had brain cancer surgery this week in his country and it was made public. Americans knew what was wrong with their senator and knew what type of prayer to say for the retired army hero. It was even Senator John McCain's spokesperson that announced his state of health and the hospital where he was being treated.

But here in Nigeria, Egbon Femi Adesina, a Presidential Spokesperson is describing Nigerians as descendants of Shimei for simply asking questions about the state of health of their president.

APC apologists are even assisting Egbon Femi Adesina to interpret those he catigorised as descendants of Shimei as Governor Ayodele Fayose and Femi Fani-Kayode.

Conveniently, Egbon Femi Adesina believed Nigerians no longer remember how his people in the APC organised protests to demand for the health status of late President Yar'Adua.

President Buhari even called for the impeachment of Yar'Adua while his Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed demanded for daily updates on Yar'Adua's health status.

Should we also call President Buhari a descendant of Shimei for calling for the impeachment of Yar'Adua in 2010.

Should Lai Mohammed, who demanded daily update on Yar'Adua's health status be called a descendant of Shimei too?

Is the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo's Spokesman, Tolu Ogunlesi, who tweeted on 3/1/2010 that; "Obama health info is publicly available, so why is Yar'Adua's classified?" also a descendant of Shimei?

Obviously, Egbon Femi Adesina is like the proverbial amudapani (One who kills with sword) that is always afraid of mere image of a sword.

While I am not interested in bringing Egbon Femi Adesina down from his pinnacle of power arrogance where he once called Nigerians WAILING WAILERS, he must be told that if he and his pay-masters are not descendants of Shimei when they organised protest against Yar'Adua instead of praying for him, those Nigerians asking them for info on President Buhari's health status cannot be categorized as descendants of Shimei.

Nigerians are simply doing the same thing President Buhari and others did when the health status of Yar'Adua was shrouded in secrecy and for that, only a power arrogant person will call them descendants of Shimei.

Funny enough, Egbon Femi Adesina cannot beat his chest and say with certainty that he knew President Buhari's state of health when he was writing his Epistle in the bedroom of his descendants of Shimei.

Why Every Nigerian Youth Should Support The Biafra Agitation By Ij Onuigbo




Bottom-line up front, if things don’t change quickly in Nigeria, your future is at risk if not completely doomed. I was alarmed to hear the Nigeria minister of finance, few days ago, along with other government officials make a justification as to why the Nigeria masses must start paying taxes including the beggars on the street. That is what the giant of Africa have come to! What a big shame – This is not to say that taxation is something not done, but it is inappropriate presently; but this is another topic! The Nigeria government for years now have always put the kart ahead of the horse on every issue; lazy or inept enough to continue failing to do their jobs while getting paid.

I have listened to Nigeria citizens lament of increasing NEPA bills on masses who hardly get electric power in their homes from NEPA for the bills already paid; and while not getting the product they paid for, crazy government are raising the prices on them. Now the newest lunacy is their plan to tax even the beggars on the street. On a side note, how will they even know who is who to tax as they have completely failed in implementing a system that accounts for every citizen just like in civilized societies.

Further, they forget they have not created jobs and aren’t consistently paying salaries to those who have the handful of jobs in the country – how do you tax people who have no employment and those that you have not paid for the work they put in? If these doesn’t scare you, you are not awake. You are unconscious though not physically dead. Every person of minimum mental ability in Nigeria should see by now that there is no light in the tunnel – Nigeria is not going forward, it is not even stagnant, it is rather retrogressing; why because we have visionless, directionless, thoughtless and wicked people in leadership.

These set of people in leadership have bankrupted Nigeria by stealing collective wealth to settle their pockets without regard to the duty their offices are called for. They borrow to pay themselves and finally, when there is no other way to raise money for themselves, they must now tax you the masses to continue to assuage their bottomless vices. Youths, let me break it to you, if you continue to enable this leaders by fighting against change and antagonizing the Biafra agitators, who are the only people putting on action to bring a change for a more secured future, there will never be peace in that country, those clueless leaders will never make the effort to build a country that will sustain its people’s needs.

Just think about it, for 57 years, these group of people have continued to recycle themselves in government and amassing wealth that they can’t spend for 10 life times at the expense of YOU the masses. It is outrageous and irresponsible for the youths to remain loyal to these evil cabal. I am not advocating violence. I am advocating that you stand up and protest and demand to take your destiny into your own hands alongside the Biafra peaceful protesters. Biafrans are already doing what is necessary to affect change and that is why you must support the cause. And by the way, the Nigeria military should protect the people and be for the people instead of killing the people at the government bidding.

I have been observing what’s going on among Nigeria youths. Majority of them do not understand what is at stake regarding a way forward for there to be progress in that part of the world. These youths are resolute and fight really dirty against each other in defending politicians, religion and tribe, ignorant to the fact that the politicians they defend have never had the best interest of them youths at heart – It has been so bad that I myself have been aggravated and drawn into such situations in a bid to awaken people to their blind spots. They are hell bent on proving that they are more eloquent on promoting their politician, tribe and religion while defending one Nigeria (which begs the question, if you hate one another so much, why do you want to remain as one Nigeria) and fail to see the following:

-The problems of tribal differences will continue to retard any meaningful progress in the country: This will never change unless Nigeria is broken up. The masses tend to focus on defending their tribe men who have done wrong instead of protecting the interest of the whole Nigerians. Every tribe does this and I do not see it changing until the country is divided up by tribe and then people can focus on the real issues and no longer defend evil for the sake of tribe. And this very reason is one that shows that things will not work out if separation is not considered. There won’t be peace and progress in a house where they fight and hate on each other perpetually? Think about that!

-Consider the fact that dividing into smaller regions will bring out the best in each region. It will foster easier accountability of leadership by the people. It will enable people of every region to appreciate and better utilize every God given resource to sustain themselves and fashion more creativity among the people. I remember that Nigeria main stay used to be agriculture and since the advent of oil, agriculture was abandoned for easier money. There are many countries that the totality of their economic sustenance comes from agriculture.
-Breaking up Nigeria into smaller or it’s original parts will encourage healthy competition within each region and eliminate the toxic competition among the tribes within Nigeria. Lack of toxicity facilitates creativity among people and within units. And one of the best things is that dividing Nigeria does not have to change the economic relationship among each region. As I mentioned in a previous writing, the regions will remain neighbors and can or should continue to do business with each other. Let’s all make it a peaceful undertaking. A divorce does not have to be bitter.

It will only be bitter if someone makes it so. There is no problem that cannot be solved by peaceful dialogue.

SOME OF THE KNOWN TRADITIONS OF NDI IGBO BEFORE THE MISSIONARIES CAME TO AFRICA, WHICH ARE ROOTED IN THE BIBLE

1. In Igboland women live apart from their husbands, do not cook for them or enters their husbands' quarters when she is on her period, she is seen as unclean . Even up till today such practice is still applicable in some part of Igboland especially by the traditionalist. Before a woman can enter the palace of Obi of Onitsha , she will be asked if she is on period, if yes, she will be asked to stay out.

Leviticus 15: 19-20
When a woman has her monthly period, she remains unclean, anyone who touches her or anything she has sat on becomes unclean.

2. An Igbo man’s ancestral heritage, called “Ana Obi” is not sellable, elders will not permit this. If this is somehow done due to the influence of the West the person is considered a fool and is ostracized by the community.

3. Igbos have practiced the taking a late brothers wife into marriage after she had been widowed until the white men came. Now it is rarely done but except in very rural villages of the bush.

by either setting up a business for him or giving money or tools by which to make a living.

Exodus 21:2
If you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve you for six years. In the seventh year he is to be set free without having to pay you anything.

5. In Igboland , the yam is very important to the Igbo as it is their staple crop. There are celebrations such as the New yam festival (Igbo: Iri Ji) which are held for the harvesting of the yam. New Yam festival (Igbo: Iri ji) is celebrated annually to secure a good harvest of the staple crop. Those old days it is an abomination for one to eat a new harvest before the festival. It's a tradition that you give the gods of the land first as a thanks given.

Deuteronomy 16:9
Count 7 weeks from the time that you begin to harvest the crops, and celebrate the harvest festival to honor the lord your God, by bringing him a freewill offering in proportion to the blessing he has given you. Celebrate in the lord's presence together with your children, servants, foreigners . Be sure that you obey my command, said the lord.

6. In Igboland it's a tradition that the male children are circumcised on the 8th day. This tradition is still practice till date.

Leviticus 12:3
On the eighth day, the child shall be circumcised.

7. In Igboland, there a practice known as "ile omugwo ". After a woman has given birth to a child, a very close and experienced relative of her, in most case her mother is required by tradition to come spend time with her and her husband. In which she is to do all the work of the wife, while the new mom’s only assignment to the baby will be to breastfeed. This goes on for a month or more. In the Igbo old tradition, at this time, the new mom lives apart from her husband, would not cook or enter his quarters.

Leviticus 12:1-4
For seven days after a woman gives birth, she is ritually unclean as she is during her monthly period. It will be 33 days until she is ritually clean from the loss of blood; she is not to touch anything that is holy

I am not Igbo. I am proud of my Urhobo. However, as a student of history, I wish to show just what these great people come against and yet thrive. Okay, the incessant killings in the North will be glossed over so as to make this article not overly long. The civil war will also not be discussed. However, post civil war, as I explained in my post MINORITY REPORT: THE SYSTEM IS RIGGED AGAINST YOU, the rich in Nigeria have major roots in the Indigenisation decree of 1972 and 1977. I reminded people how the banks gave people of other tribes, predominantly Hausas and Yorubas loans to buy up companies owned by foreigners. Now imagine the Federal government forced Chevron to sell 51 percent of its shares and that Access Bank will give you loans to buy the shares. How rich will you be in a year? 5 Years? That is how many Yorubas and Hausas got to own UAC, all those Dunlop, Leventis, Cadbury etc.

Now, while this was ongoing, Awolowo/Gowon told the Nigerian banks to give twenty naira to any Igbo man that had money in the bank before the war. That is, if you had 5 naira before the war, you will be given the 5 naira. But if you had one million naira, you get just twenty naira in full fulfilment of the banks duty to give you your money.

Ask yourselves, why would the banks give Igbos only twenty naira? Did the banks collapse? So why pay less than you were given? So while the banks were giving loans to Hausa and Yorubas to buy Oyibo companies they did not build, Igbos were being cheated out of their rightful moneys.

Now note also that these people lost Houses and business across the land. It is safe to say that as at 1970/71, the richest Igbo had 20 naira that may be the equivalent of maybe one million naira.

Let us look at how Dangote made his money. He Dagote (a great man and pride to Nigeria) had an uncle called Dantata who owned huge chunks of the groundnut pyramids of the 50’s and 60’s. He gave Dangote a loan and Dangote paid it back in a record time. CLAP, CLAP. Then add that Dangote has had his “brothers” in government, from Shagari, Buhari, IBB, Abacha, Abdulsalami to Yar’Adua. WAEC building was Ojukwu’s dad’s building and like that building, thousands and the lands with it….lands worth billions today were taken from Igbos and each and every Igbo had tops 20 naira, destroyed homeland, stolen and destroyed wealth away from the East. Also his brother is never president that will give him oil block or fuel lifting. Of 33, only one Igbo man and because he was in Obasanjo’s good graces.

YET LOOK HOW PROUD THEY STAND TODAY!!! Look what they have achieved for themselves….FIRST GENERATION WEALTH…top second generation. From being unable to send their first sons to school so he could help look after the shop, to producing first class brains in all departments of modern learning.

So today, as you accuse Igbos of wanting their Biafra or of Baby Factory, or liking money and ready to do anything for money, remember that just forty years ago, while the banks were dashing your uncles loans to buy all the companies of Nigeria, it stole from the Igbos. Know that appointments have not favoured them. Note that they remain persecuted and many speak such ill and hate towards a people forced by need to survive to be extra-aggressive towards their sustenance. Maybe if you took their history into consideration, you will not be so critical of them, but instead say “what a resilient people” and give God the glory.
