A man who is considered to be psychologically unstable gunned down eight people then later killed himself in a Canadian town reports say

The man by name Phu Nam thought to be 53 years old; was found dead after an alleged rampage in which he attacked his victims in two different parts of Edmonton, Canada, before fleeing and taking his own life.

Police said that one of the victims was a young boy, and another was a young girl. They also found bodies belonging to four women and two men who were murdered.

One of the victims was named late Sunday as 37-year-old Cyndi Duong, who was killed at a separate home to the other seven.

According to reports, police chief Rob Knecht called the attacks a 'senseless mass murder', which he said was a result of domestic violence.

He later described the killings, carried out with a 9mm handgun which was stolen eight years ago, as 'planned and deliberate' and said they were the city's worst mass killings since 1956.

He added the man was well-known to police and had a criminal record dating back to September 1987.

Police were called to an address in the south of the town, three hours north of Calgary in the Alberta province, following a weapons complaint.

update: Finally, the Air Asia plane has been discovered by the Indonesian officials, also Search teams have found a seventh body believed to be from AirAsia flight QZ8501 including an Air hostess, an Indonesian official said Wednesday.

Indonesian searchers say sonar equipment has detected wreckage from AirAsia Flight QZ8501 at the bottom of the sea, a day after the first signs of debris were spotted.

It's still unclear whether the aircraft is in one piece or broken up, said Hernato, a search and rescue official who goes by one name. Also the plane is said to be upside down

The grim discovery Tuesday of parts of the missing plane and several bodies on the surface of the sea dealt a heartbreaking blow to families whose loved ones were lost. More on this later

Ronnie and Donnie Galyon may be the world’s oldest conjoined twins, but when they celebrated their 63rd birthday recently, they decided to keep it young — with a trip to Florida’s amusement parks.

The Galyon twins, of Ohio, unofficially reached the milestone the day after they turned 63 on Oct. 28.

They beat out the previous record held for more than seven decades by Giacomo and Giovanni Battista Tocci, who were born in Italy in 1877 and lived to be 63.

A Virgin Atlantic passenger plane has landed safely at London's Gatwick Airport after discovering a problem with part of its main landing gear.

Virgin flight VS43 with 447 passengers and 15 crew was travelling from Gatwick to Las Vegas when it had to return.

The Boeing 747 circled over southern England for several hours dumping fuel before making a bumpy but safe landing just before 16:00 GMT.

Gatwick's runway reopened at 19:03 GMT after being closed by the emergency.

A healthcare worker who has just returned from West Africa has been diagnosed with Ebola and is being treated in hospital in Glasgow.

The woman, who arrived from Sierra Leone on Sunday night, is in isolation at Glasgow's Gartnavel Hospital.

All possible contacts with the case are being investigated, including on flights to Scotland via Heathrow.

UK Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt confirmed that the woman would be taken to a specialist unit in London.

She will be flown from Glasgow and taken to the Royal Free Hospital in north London for isolation

More has been revealed about the man who commited the hostage act as a Sheikh

Police stormed a cafe in central Sydney early Tuesday where a gunman held more than a dozen hostages for more than 16 hours, in a blaze of gunfire.

A scene of pandemonium erupted in the early morning just minutes after hostages started emerging from the cafe on their own or in small groups.

The dramatic end stage of the siege came as the gunman holding the remaining captives was revealed as a self-proclaimed Islamic cleric Man Haron Monis

Monis is a 49-year-old man living in southwest Sydney, but is originally from Iran and a self-proclaimed sheik, and also sent hate mail to the families of Australian dead soldiers between 2007 and 2009, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The seige in the Lindt cafe in Martin Place on Monday follows an unsuccessful attempt to have these charges overturned in the High Court on Friday, The Age reported.

Monis received 300 community service hours and a two-year good behaviour bond for the correspondence, which he claims were his version of sympathy cards, sent with the help from his girlfriend Amirah Droudis.

Arriving as a refugee in Australia in 1996, the hostage-taker was charged as an accessory to the murder of his ex-wife – who was allegedly stabbed and set on fire on a flight of stairs in her western Sydney apartment block in November 2013.

The man’s current partner was charged with murder but they both received bail as the case was deemed too weak

ARMED men are holding up to 50 people hostage at a cafe in Martin Place in Sydney.

There are reports that two gunmen have taken hostages at the popular Lindt chocolate shop, which has several entrances. The situation has been ongoing since 10am Australia local time.

Some members of staff could be seen wearing their shop aprons and standing with their hands up at the windows. There is also a black and white flag being held up in a window. It is believed to be the Black Standard, a jihadist flag.

At a press conference this morning Prime Minister Tony Abbott said the government did not know whether the hostage situation was politically motivated.

“We don’t yet know the motivation of perpetrator, we don’t know whether it’s politically motivated although there are indications it could be,” he said.

“The whole point of politically motivated violence is to scare people... Australia is a peaceful, open and generous society and nothing should ever change that and that’s why I urge all Australians to today to go about their business as usual.”

Mr Abbott urged all Australians to go about their business as usual but if anyone noticed anything unusual they should call the National Security Hotline 1800 123 400. According to reports

Reuters reports, Gold fell more than 1 percent on Friday, after U.S. November non-farm payrolls data beat forecasts, fueling expectations that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates sooner rather than later and lifting the dollar.

Labor Department data showed the U.S. economy added 321,000 new jobs last month, the largest number in nearly three years, and wages increased.
That sparked a rally in the U.S. dollar, which hit multi year highs and prompted traders to bet the Fed will raise rates earlier in 2015 than formerly thought.
Spot gold was down 1.2 percent at $1,190.90 an ounce at 2:42 p.m. EST (1942 GMT), while U.S. gold futures settled down $17.30 an ounce, or 1.4 percent, at $1,190.40. In the wake of the data, spot gold hit a low of $1,186.10, down 1.6 percent. Some traders said they were surprised it did not fall further.

For the week, however, spot gold rose around 2 percent after heavy short-covering lifted prices 4 percent on Monday, its biggest daily gain in more than a year. Traders said this could attract short-term buying next week, while others suggested the market was stabilizing around current levels.

“It will be interesting to see how (gold) develops as we move towards the FOMC meeting on Dec. 17,” ABN Amro analyst Georgette Boele said. “If we have a more hawkish Fed, more of an adjustment in interest rate expectations, and a still higher dollar,” it will be negative for gold.

Higher rates boost the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding gold and lift the dollar, in which the metal is priced.
In the physical bullion markets, Chinese buying remained steady with premiums unchanged at about $1-$2 on Friday.

“Physical demand continues to underpin both the silver and gold markets,” Kitco Metals Inc said in a note.

Data from the Istanbul Gold Exchange showed gold imports into Turkey more than doubled year on year to 46.9 tonnes in November, its strongest monthly imports in more than six years.

CFTC data shows huge drop in Open Interest. At the same time we see that net long position has increased. It means that its growth mostly has happened due closing of shorts, rather than opening of new longs, although long positions also have increased slightly. Currently it is difficult to understand how it will impact on market balance soon, but it seems that investors have closed shorts that were opened on expectation of 1140 breakout. Does it mean that investors do not believe in soon downward breakout? But at the same time they do not hurry to increase longs… May be this has happened due coming end of the financial year…
Net long position has not changed significantly:

At the same time recent SPDR data does not support upside gold retracement. For the period when gold has reached 1210 area – net outflow from SPDR fund stands ~ for 1% or 7 tonnes of gold (from 727 tonnes in beginning of November to 720 tonnes currently).

What we are looking for here is for Poloz to be dovish taking note of the negativity in figures so that we can position ourselves prior to his statement to sell the Canadian Dollar.

NZD – RBNZ Gov Wheeler Speaks – 12:10am

Prior to this event on the 10th the RBNZ have their rate hike decision, which we are expecting levels to remain unchanged and we can expect the RBNZ to try and talk the currency down. We can position ourselves on this event to sell the NZD in anticipation of the RBNZ to be additionally dovish more weakness onto the NZD.

More troubles for Bill Cosby as is being sued by a 55-year-old woman who claims the comedian sexually assaulted her at the Playboy Mansion in 1974 when she was 15 years old.

Judy Huth claims she and a friend met Cosby on the set of a movie being filmed at a L.A. park and he invited them to his tennis club a week later.

Huth claims when they arrived to the club, Cosby served them booze and played billiards — requiring them to drink a beer every time Cosby won a game.

According to the suit, Huth claims Cosby then took the girls to the Playboy Mansion and told them to say they were 19 years old if anyone asked.

Huth claims she eventually went to a bedroom with Cosby and that’s where she says Cosby began to “sexually molest her by attempting to put his hand down her pants, and then taking her hand in his hand and performing a sex act on himself without her consent.”

Huth claims she was emotionally and psychologically damaged from the incident. As for why she filed so late, Huth claims she was so mentally scarred, that she only recently connected her psychological issues with the alleged incident.

a decline of about 0.03 % from the previous amount and the dipped even further as the demand for the Dollar increased.

The Nigerian Naira opened at 184.60 to the Dollar on Monday, December 1 but quickly fell to 187.55.
