Sports / Inter Milan: Indonesian Tycoons Buy Majority Stake In Club by emekauzor(m): 2:48pm On Oct 16, 2013
A trio of Indonesian businessmen led by media tycoon Erick Thohir have bought a 70% stake in the club.

The club did not disclose the value of deal, but various reports estimated it to be between 250m – 300m euros ($340m; £210m – $405m; £250m).

The two sides had been negotiating for some time amid efforts by the club to bring in fresh capital.

Massimo Moratti, the president of the club, said the club’s “history is going to be enriched by a new season thanks to our new international partners who, I am sure, will contribute to a continued string of successes”.

The new partners’ enthusiasm and pragmatism are certainly a guarantee for the future,” he added in a statement.

Mr Thohir is also a co-owner of DC United, a Major League Soccer club in the US and has also served as vice president of the Indonesian Olympic Committee.

The other two partners in the deal are Rosan Roeslani and Handy Soetedjo.

Politics / Cécile Kyenge, Italy’s First Black Minister, Targeted With Bananas by emekauzor(m): 11:07am On Jul 29, 2013
The racist abuse and taunts endured by Italy’s first black minister, Cecile Kyenge, further escalated on Friday after a banana was hurled at her during a rally, sparking outrage across the political spectrum.

Kyenge, who is the minister for Integration, and is originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, was speaking at a political rally Cervia in central Italy, when someone in the audience threw bananas towards the stage, narrowly missing it.

Some of Italy‘s top politicians on Saturday rallied behind the country’s first black minister, a target of racist slurs since her appointment in April, after a spectator threw bananas at her while she was making a speech.

The integration minister, Cécile Kyenge, who is originally from Democratic Republic of Congo, was appearing at a political rally in Cervia in central Italy on Friday, when someone in the audience threw bananas towards the stage, narrowly missing it.

Kyenge has faced almost daily racial slurs and threats since joining the government. Earlier this month a senator from the anti-immigration Northern League party likened her to an orangutan and only apologised after a storm of criticism.

Last month, a local Northern League councillor said Kyenge should be raped so she understands how victims of crimes committed by immigrants feel. The councillor has received a suspended jail sentence and a temporary ban from public office.

Shortly before Friday’s incident, members of the far-right Forza Nuova group left mannequins covered in fake blood near the site of the Democratic Party rally in protest against Kyenge’s proposal to make anyone born on Italian soil a citizen.

“Immigration kills,” was written on leaflets accompanying the dummies – a slogan Forza Nuova has previously used when referring to murders committed by immigrants in Italy.

But the group denied that one of its members had thrown the bananas. Police are trying to identify the culprit.

Kyenge responded to the gesture on Twitter, calling it “sad” and a waste of food.

“The courage and optimism to change things has to come above all from the bottom up to reach the institutions,” she said.

Several politicians, including her peers in prime minister Enrico Letta’s government, responded with messages of support and condemnation on Saturday.

Environment minister Andrea Orlando said on Twitter he felt “utmost indignation for this lowly act”, while the education minister, Maria Chiara Carrozza, praised Kyenge for her courage and determination in such a hostile climate.

Veneto region governor Luca Zaia from the Northern League, who is due to take part in an immigration debate with Kyenge in August, also spoke out against the incident on Saturday.

“Throwing bananas, personal insults … acts like these play no part in the civilised and democratic discussion needed between the minister and those who don’t share her opinion,” the ANSA news agency quoted him as saying.

Politics / Re: Wole Soyinka Opposes UNILAG/MAU Renaming by emekauzor(m): 2:08pm On May 31, 2012
I am not used to replying on NL for many reasons but my attention has been drawn on the piece by the great poet Wole Soyinka WS.

WS I much respect your ideas about the issues bothering topics of discourse, unfortunately, I am greatly dissapointed the way people approach such issues.

It saddens me the way our President took to his hills in renaming a great Institution with soo much history, so much flair, so much great minds, a school I had a fancy for, because of the pride held high by the students. Waking up and deciding to rename the school after a great man MKO Abiola.
Of course you don't expect those folks/students to feel happy at the moment you made that remark.

The youth were not carried along, the University community was not carried along and for some reason it sounded archaic to the ear drums of students and the community at large.

But there is a concern for me,
If the students of Unilag and other known schools can come out en-mass to protest the dieas or approach of government it will serve all Nigerians a great deal; Imagine this morning for all STUPID reasons, I woke up to the news that the Governor of Rivers State Rotimi Amechi signed into law that all former governors of the state will have two houses built for him, one in Abuja the other in Rivers, 8 security officers assigned to him, maids and other fringe benefits including pension.

That sounds idiotic and the more reason why students of RSUST and UNIPORT should be marching on the streets demanding
the Governor to resign NOW not LATER.

Thats fraud and the many other stupid ways our leaders defraud us.
Including having a kitchen allowance of 1 billion Naira

It now makes more sense when Buhari said 2015 will be bloody, the moment you do such oshofiri attitude you're going to have people killing themselves to get to the top.

Dear Students/ Fellow Nigerians
Good a thing you are fighting for your right, I believe they will be a reversal even though I never was a student of UNILAG I show solidarity but PLEASE IN THE NAME OF GOD show no violence, and keep fighting for what you belive is right including removing all bad leaders that we have now and PDP

Dear WS
I thank you for your solidarity message, I pray you will live to see the change and see how this country will turn to good from the evil your peers have created.

Dear GEJ/PDP

I hope you don't have plans for 2015, rather you should think what good people will remember you for

Thank You

thats true reflx is right the whole thing was blown out of proportion, its a pity at what happened but we need to tread the way this story is said

Literature / Re: What Kind Of Books Do Nigerian's Buy ? by emekauzor(m): 7:35pm On May 01, 2011
Orikinla:

Motivational books, religious books on prosperity and marriage and compulsory text books sell well. But most of the books sold on the street are pirated books. Presently, the psyche of majority of Nigerians is powered by their survival instinct and ego and their ego is based on the material acquisition of social status symbols. Majority of Nigerians are really Philistines who have little or no appreciation for intellectual civilization.  My small book of love quotes and kissing sold faster than my book of fiction.  Any book on relationship and sex at N500 a copy will sell well. The best way to sell books in Nigeria is not through the bookshops, but by taking your books to their workplaces, religious meetings and events. You can sell 2,000 copies a month of any of the books I mentioned if you employ just only two vendors to hawk the book at motor parks, markets and at other gatherings. Personally you can sell up to 20 copies daily on your own by taking the books to offices or trading places. You can also use social network sites successfully by telling your contacts to buy your books. I  sell at least 2 copies of books daily for Amazon. The highly gifted Nigerian banker and author Jekwu Ozoemene's book "The Anger of Unfulfillment" is one of the new books Nigerians are demanding now. The book of three satirical plays on President Goodluck Jonathan's Nigeria, 419 and the fears of AIDS is on the bestsellers list in Nigeria.

nice one there, really appreciate your advice the truth is you have made my day, with this line of advice you gave me, look into it
