A Facebook user by name Imo Udoima took to his facebook page to share how his terrorising neighbor met his waterloo. He wrote; “They say I am “Wicketh” and I ask How?When and Why? I use to buy 10 liters of fuel extra when going home incase I need it for the Car,home Generator or the one at the shop. Each time I need it,I will meet an empty Jerry can…This has been repeating itself till I decided to put a stop to it during the last fuel crisis in the State. I took a 4 litre Jerry can, bought black market at N250 per liter, bought a sachet of Salt for N100 totalling N1,100…I mixed the salt inside the fuel and as usual kept it for the owner. That night,I took 3 bottles of Tiger nut and slept like a child ..In the morning,The fuel was gone and I smiled. Few hours later, Someone’s car engine knocked and they have been battling to repair it for more than a month…Today,The car is for sale and just for N120,000k. Ladies and Gentlemen, Where did I go wrong?” Read More: akwaibomdaily.com.ng/man-knocks-his-neighbours-car-engine-for-stealing-fuel-friends-react-will-shock-you/

By Henshaw NYONG IT was celebration galore on Saturday as Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State inaugurated the 16km Awa Iman - Ikot Edim - Ikot Emem - Ukam - Ikot Ebiere Road with 3 number spurs and 2 Bridges. The road cuts across ONNA and Mkpat Enin Local Government Areas. However, the venue for the inauguration in Ukam, Mkpat Enin LGA, was almost turned to campaign ground as indigenes in their large numbers came out to appreciate the governor for delivering on his electoral promises. Governor Emmanuel who arrived the venue alongside his deputy, Mr Moses Ekpo, Secretary to the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem and other senior citizens stated that the inauguration ceremony was another success story of his superior performance. He noted that the project was aimed at improving the living standards of the people at the grassroots and providing access roads for them to convey their farm produce to the city. The State Chief Executive advised the people in the area to use the opportunity of easy access provided by the new road to improve trade and commerce for economic prosperity. Earlier, the State Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyang-Eyen, had explained that the project was initially 12.74km but had to be broaden to benefit other communities in the area. According to the Works boss, "this is one of the best network of roads for the people". He promised that his ministry will do the needful to maintain the road. Indigenes of the area who spoke at the event, including the Paramount Ruler, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, HRM Edidem (Elder) Akpan Akpan Ekpene, Chairman, Mkpat Enin Local Government Council, Hon Ekanem Brown, former Transition Chairman, Hon Ubong Ekefre, described the project as a good omen that would increase agricultural productivity in the area. The people specifically eulogized Mr Emmanuel for his administration’s commitment to the spreading of democratic dividends to the nooks and crannies of the State. Meanwhile, the Governor and his entourage later moved to Eket Local Government Area where he inaugurated Lucy Bassey Street, Frank Archibong Street and six other roads in the area. The allegation by Senator Godswill Akpabio, the senator representing Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District (Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District) that he was expelled from our party, hence his movement to the All Progressives Congress prior to the 2019 General elections is arguable one of the most alarming allegations to have been made by a political office holder from our state in contemporary times. Senator Akpabio who until August 8, 2018 was a member of our distinguished party was not expelled by our party at any point and neither was any process commenced for his removal under the guidelines as provided for in the constitution of our party. Any person who knows the personality of Senator Akpabio very well knows that of such was ever attempted or muted, he would have very eminently featured the same expulsion in his exodus messages. In the facts, Senator Akpabio was endorsed for a second term in office as the senator representing the aforementioned Senatorial District, in a Mega rally organized by our Senatorial District on July 16, 2018 under my leadership. At that rally, it was only His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel and the Senator that were officially endorsed by the Senatorial District of our party. It was not up to a month after this endorsement that the senator resigned as the minority leader of the Senate, a position he occupied sequel to his being elected to the Senate on the platform and sponsorship of our party and subsequently made public is defection from our party. It is true that since our party endorsed the Senator on July 16, 2018, all our party thought and was preoccupied on was how to ensure that the Senator wins a second term to the Senate and at no moment did we have the luxury of time to entertain or execute the thought of his expulsion. Akpabio defected from our party and was never expelled from our party. Our party had long moved on and through the grace of God we have maintained our winning streak which demonstrates clearly that strong institutions will always triumph over the vagaries of individual wishes and acclaimed prowess and strength. The senator in good wisdom should do well to also move on as a man intends at all times, the natural consequences of his actions. Hon. Pst. A Federal High Court sitting in Uyo has affirmed the sack of Mr. Gabriel Toby, member representing Etim Ekpo/Ika State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. The court presided over by Justice Fatun Riman ruled that the lawmaker lost his seat, having defected from the People's Democratic Party, PDP that sponsored him to office, to the All Progressives Congress, APC last year. The court also granted all the prayers sought by the respondents, the speaker of the House of Assembly, Barr. Onofiok Luke who was represented by Barr. Ekemini Udim and Barr Ini Ememobong and the Peoples Democratic Party, represented by Barr. Godswill Umoh. Speaking shortly after the ruling, the counsel to the PDP Barr. Umoh said the court relied on Section 109 of the constitution which gives two grounds warranting defection by a lawmaker to include division in a party and where a merger is reached. Umoh said, none of the scenerios played out last November when the complaint defected to the APC, and lauded the judgment of the court. "We are awaiting the judgment on the remaining similar cases, but for Gabriel Toby and Idongesit Ituen(who earlier received a similar judgement), this is a final judgment as far as this case is concerned the court has declared their defection as unacceptable in totality and as such was wrong" "The Court says their defection was illegal and that means automatically they had lost their seats the day they defected. It is a simple interpretation of what the constitution says in Section 109" One of the sacked lawmakers of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr Victor Udofia who has a similar case coming up for ruling soon, has applauded the judgment of the federal High Court upholding the sack of his colleague Mr Gabriel Toby from the Assembly. Interacting with newsmen at the Uyo Federal High Court premises, Mr Udofia described the judgement as a 'win-win' situation saying the? judge was fair in his ruling. "We knew the process and we know the consequences, once you cross carpet from the Political party. Even the Bible says you must know the truth and the truth shall set you free. "For the Judgment today, honestly there was no compromise, the judge did what the law says and for me, I am satisfied" Udofia said. On his judgment coming up next Monday, Udofia maintained that, "from all indications the Judge is not biased and the ruling that will come on that day will not be different from what has happened today. "But to be honest with you, it is a win-win situation for both parties" He however said the speaker ought to have waited for the court to make pronouncements on the vacation of the seats rather "taking laws into his own hands" Mr Udofia who said he had a future outside politics urged Akwa Ibom people to learn to play politics devoid of bitterness and learn to relate as brothers irrespective of parry leanings. An Officer of the Nigerian Prisons Service, Idongesit Williams Ntia, been been fingered in an attempt to murder an Akwa Ibom man, in Uyo. It was reported that the Prisons Officer, in company of two of his colleagues, attempted to kill a certain Emem Ekanim, over a minor accident which occurred along Nnwaniba Road in Uyo, last week, between a commercial mini bus and a private vehicle belonging to the said Prisons Officer. The commercial mini bus is said to have ran into the back bumper of the Prisons Officer, although without much damage. Narrating his ordeal to our reporter, the victim, Emem Ekanim, said he was on transit along Nnwaniba Road when he saw the said Prisons Officer and two other of his colleagues beating up a Mini Bus Driver who was obviously pleading for mercy. Just like other passersby, Ekanim said he stopped by to intervene and plead on behalf of the mini bus driver who was at this time on the ground, begging to be spared and admitted being at fault. Ekanim said it was while he was pleading on behalf of the driver that another passerby asked, who they were, he replied, Prison Officers. The Prisons Officer, Idongesit Williams Ntia, who was on mufti, pulled and cocked his gun, before using the butt of the same gun to hit him about four consecutive times in the right eyes. He narrated that he was also beaten to pulp, with his clothes torn, while it took efforts of the crowd that gathered to save him. After allegedly committing the offense, Ekanim said the Officer and his colleagues jumped into his car and zoomed off. An eyewitness, Akaninyene Bassey, while speaking to our reporter, condemned the incident and urged the authorities concerned to ensure the culprit is brought to book. Another eyewitness, Usen Akpan, corroborated that the victim was only trying to plead on behalf of the mini bus driver when the Prisons Man whom he described as overzealous, started acting like a "demon-possessed beast."
