The vision of Governor Udom Emmanuel in making Akwa Ibom a world class destination for business and leisure has received more commendations.

The latest comes from the Management of ExxonMobil, with the multinational oil company expressing satisfaction at the quality of facilities at the 21 Storey Office Complex, Dakkada Tower, in Uyo.

The Head Public and Government Affairs of the organization, Mr Effiong Esumo, who led a delegation of ExxonMobil staff to inspect the facility on Friday, said he was delighted that the building and the installed facilities are of world class standards.

"We have not found issues with the building or facility apart from some few areas that could be addressed as an in-tenant, but overall it is a fantastic facility", he said.

Mr Esumo also said the visit was primarily because the organization has much interest in the building and assured that the management of his organization will meet and be briefed on his findings after which they will get back to the Akwa Ibom State Government.

"The fact that we are here shows we have serious interest for the facility" he added.

The Commissioner, Ministry of Special Duties, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh received and conducted the delegation round the facility.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Engr. Efiong Efiakedoho applauded ExxonMobil for furthering its interest in the Dakkadda Tower by sending the delegation for facility inspection.

The Commissioner assured that any adaptations and suggestions to the Tower to enhance its functionality would be implemented, where possible.

EducationMeet The First Black Woman President Of Harvard. by Emelcee(op): 10:06pm On Jun 25, 2021
The prestigious Harvard Law Review has elected its first black woman president in its 130-year history.

Ime Ime Umanah, 24, from Abak Local Government in Akwa Ibom State, is a daughter of Late Dr. Ime Sampson Umanah, a Nigerian immigrant. She grew up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She's a joint degree candidate at Harvard Law School and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
Umana was chosen by the Harvard Law Review's 92 student editors in what is widely considered the highest-ranked position that a student can have at the cut-throat law school.

She is the first African-American woman to lead a journal that has the largest reach of any law journal in the world.
The difficult election process required a thorough dissection of her work and application, and a 12-hour long deliberation of her portfolio.

The first black man to be elected president was Barack Obama 27 years ago, while it has been 41 years since the first woman, Susan Estrich, was elected.

Congratulations!

Following reports of the expulsion of a student, Iniobong Ekpo by the management of the Akwa Ibom State University, over gross misconduct and insuburdination, Governor Udom Emmanuel may have concluded plans to set up a committee to study the case and report back to him immediately.

The Governor, according to inside sources, was apparently unaware of the boy's offence as well as the reported expulsion, since he had not previously received brief on the matter.

He is said to have directed that a five member committee to be headed by the Commissioner for Education, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet, be set up to study the matter and get him briefed immediately.

"Governor Emmanuel who is renowned for always ignoring series of campaigns of calumny and media attacks against him, since assumption of office in 2015, only heard of this incident of attack against him by the said Iniobong on the media today", a source told our reporter.

The student, Iniobong Ekpo, was in his final year at the Department of Agricultural Engineering when he was expelled for publishing a “derogatory and defamatory article” in 2019 on Facebook against the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel.

He was first suspended indefinitely from studies before his expulsion two months ago.

Mr Ekpo used a pseudonym, Afrosix Jaara, to write the article in which he called Governor Emmanuel a con artiste who engaged in scamming and deceiving students.

The university, in the expulsion letter, said Mr Ekpo’s article was a “breach” of the matriculation oath and a violation of the university rules and regulations enshrined in the Student Information Handbook.

According to the rules enshrined in the university handbook, on Page 85 (Article XV) the expelled student infringed on the cyber offences of the university, one of which reads, "unauthorized use of the University's name, logo, anthem, etc in a manner that will bring the University to disrepute;

While another of the offences listed on Page 86 says, "posting insulting /abusive messages against lecturers, the university or any of its officers/agents, other staff or fellow students either in print or on social media. Penalty shall be rustication or expulsion based on the gravity of the offence.

Another code breached by the said Iniobong Ekpo, could be traceable to Page 85 of the handbook which says, "any student found guilty of any act of insuburdination towards constituted authority shall be rusticated from the university for a period of time or may be expelled."

But Mr Ekpo, through a letter written to the university by his lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, said the university authorities did not give him fair hearing.

He claimed he was never invited to appear before a disciplinary committee before his suspension.

Apart from challenging his expulsion, the student is demanding N20 million from the university as “general damages and gross breach of his fundamental rights.”

However it would not be the first time a student is found culpable by the university over cyber related offences.

The institution had suspended “indefinitely” a female student from the school for allegedly calling the university vice chancellor ‘foolish’ on Facebook.

The student, Joy Nkanang, was in her second year in the department of performing arts before her suspension on May 9, 2019.

She was however reabsorbed after showing sufficient remorse, a clear departure from Iniobong Ekpo, who despite breaching his matriculation oath, is still displaying arrogance and insubordination.

TravelUpdate On Gov Emmanuel's New International Airport Terminal Building by Emelcee(op): 4:09pm On Jun 16, 2021
Governor Udom Emmanuel's vision of providing Akwa Ibom State with a world class Airport Smart Terminal Building is gradually coming alive.

A visit to the ongoing project at the Victor Attah International Airport, shows the main imposing frame conspicuously taking shape.

The new international terminal building is designed to meet the highest level of intelligence and smart building standards, found anywhere in the world.

The terminal building comes with a digital self-check-in by a robot, pre-planned before Covid-19 and counter check-in as well with five bridges, staircases, seven lifts and four escalators, which are pressure sensitive and only move when a passenger is detected on it.

The security architecture is very high, there would be fingerprint digital pass or card pass, whether one is a passenger or staff.
The facility will have four methods of fire prevention - fire extinguishers, fire water sprinkler system, fire detectors (heat, smoke and temperature detectors), FM 200 ie automated fire suppression system, and the building leaves room for further expansion.
Above all, more than a thousand workers are expected to gain employment in the facility as direct staff, while the terminal is expected to run both day and night shifts in line with international standards.

This is a product of a visionary, who seeing ahead, is planning ahead for his people.

SportsKano Pillars Vs Akwa Utd: Aks Govt. Seeks Investigation Into Fans' Hostilities by Emelcee(op): 4:38pm On Jun 14, 2021
AKSG COMMENDS AKWA UNITED FOR AWAY DRAW TO KANO PILLARS, SEEKS INVESTIGATION INTO FANS' HOSTILITIES

Akwa Ibom State Government has commended the management and players of Akwa United Football Club for their zeal, passion and dedication which earned them a hard-fought point, this morning, away to hosts Kano Pillars football club of Kano.

In a statement made available in Uyo, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Sir Monday Uko, commended Akwa United for extending their unbeaten run in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) to seventeen matches, a feat never before attained by any football team in the history of league football in the country.

He has subsequently urged the League Management Company (LMC) to investigate reports of the unruly behaviour of home fans who were reported to have encroached on to the pitch and disrupted the match at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna on Sunday, which necessitated the remaining minutes of the match to be concluded the following morning.

With fifty points from twenty-seven matches and eleven matches left before the end of the season, Mr. Uko urged the team to approach each of the remaining matches with renewed energy and enthusiasm so as to ensure that the country's professional league title is won by the state for the first time ever.

The statement condemned the violence that marred the encounter, describing it as unacceptable in football in the 21st century anywhere in the world.

The government wondered why Kano Pillars and their fans defied the directive of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) which directs clubs to execute the remaining matches of the season behind closed doors in line with WHO/NCDC/PTF guidelines for the prevention of the spread of Covid-19 and called for an urgent review of the circumstances which surrounded the impasse.

The government said that Akwa United players exhibited the Dakkada philosophy of the state, through their resilience, hardwork and faith in God, describing them as worthy ambassadors of the state.

"Akwa Ibom people are notably peaceful, hospitable and law-abiding, and I am proud that despite the provocations, my players maintained their calm and resisted the pressure of being betrayed by their emotions".

The Commissioner also commended the centre referee from Lagos State, Adebimpe Quadri, who defied the stampede and made the right calls throughout the match which could only be concluded in two days.

"It is unfortunate that at a time football in other climes is becoming a serious business venture, spinning revenue and economic opportunities, we still have a situation matches are disrupted by home fans who chase the referees and visiting players around the pitch, in order to win at all cost."

He maintained that, "football is one game that always unites Nigerians and should be used to engender unity and love in the country."

Akwa United will next play hosts to Adamawa United behind closed doors at Godswill Akpabio stadium, Uyo, this Saturday, June 19 in a match day twenty-eight fixture of the NPFL.

PoliticsImpressive Roll-call Of Achievements By First-time Akwa Ibom Lawmaker In 2 Years by Emelcee(op): 11:38am On Jun 11, 2021
Two eventful years have gone by since Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-udo was unanimously chosen by the people of Ikono and Ini Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State to represent them at the National Assembly. Despite what has been one of the most tortuous times in recent history, the people of Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency can still look back at the last year, and indeed the last two, with relish.

When canvassing for their support for his aspiration to represent them, Ukpong-udo made several promises. He promised to represent them robustly by bringing to the fore, as well as speaking out on, issues that affect or could affect them. He promised he would see to their welfare by empowering them to create wealth and to develop their capacity, attitudes and mindset. He promised he would support the student body and that, where possible, he would ensure that qualified indigenes are given a fair employment opportunity. He also promised physical development in terms of infrastructure in the area. Overall, he promised he would “bring back to Ikono-Ini people what is rightfully theirs.”

During the second of these two years, the entire world was brought to its knees by a pandemic of epic proportions, with shocks still resonating to this day. This was followed by local and international protests over racial injustice and police brutality. Things further escalated to far-reaching cases of insecurity occasioned by religious extremism, ethnic intolerance and banditry across the national landscape.

In the face of these challenges, however, one of the more heart-warming features of these times has been a wide gamut of completed, ongoing and nascent people-oriented programmes and projects within Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency in the last 24 months.

In line with his promises, Ukpong-udo has stayed true to his colour of selfless dedication to the common good. He triggered a prompt response by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to address an incident of a landslide in Odoro Ikpe and Ibam Edet communities of his constituency. He has also drawn the attention of the Federal Government to the need to complete Nkari Dam in Ini Local Government Area which will help with flood control, energy generation, irrigation as well as human and livestock water supply.
These have been followed by a massive infrastructural facelift in the constituency, with a focus on communal utilities; a sequel to Ukpong-udo’s promise of “…provision and rehabilitation of social amenities and basic infrastructure in needy communities.”

Several new market stalls have been completed and are now in use at Edet Ukpom Market. Within the two local government areas of the constituency, multipurpose Civic and Entrepreneurship centres, in the place of regular town halls, have been constructed at Itak Ikot Obio Ise, Ini Local Government Area, for example, while some are still under construction. Similarly, council halls for Traditional Rulers have also been either completed or are ongoing.

Road infrastructure has remained in the pipeline due to the multiplicity of stakeholders involved in their execution, especially post-covid. However, propositions for the construction of several roads within the constituency, including the Uyo Afaha Nkan-Urua Naira-Ikot Nseyen-Ibiaku Ntok Okpo road, the Nkara Obio-Ediene Atai-Osuk Ediene-Udok Atai road, and very recently, the Uduo Ndiad Road, Ikot Akpa- Edet Ndiya road have been appropriated and provided for in the 2021 Budget.

On the contrary, Health and Educational infrastructure have enjoyed increasing patronage by Obong Ukpong-udo in the last couple of months. Classroom blocks have been constructed and completed in various schools like Comprehensive Secondary School, Obotme, in Ini Local Government Area and Comprehensive Secondary School, Ndiya, Ikono Local Government Area, while renovation work has been proposed to commence at the Lutheran Senior Science Secondary School, Ibakachi.
Among the health facilities in the area, work is ongoing at the Primary Healthcare Centre, Nkari, as well as a Healthcare Delivery facility at Ndiya.

Rep. Emmanuel Ukpong-udo’s dedication to healthcare has been further expressed in his unprecedented attention to pregnant women and newborn babies, courtesy of the ‘Macaire Mother and Child Care Programme.’ This novel initiative has been geared towards lowering maternal and infant mortality in the state by providing incentives to encourage pregnant women to submit to professional medical care. Following Ukpong-udo’s financial input to the programme, the constituency at large has taken delivery of 146 newborn babies with no fatalities since its inception in 2019.

The welfare of every indigene of Ikono/Ini has been something of a personal enterprise for Rep. Emmanuel Ukpong-udo. He has ensured to leave an imprint of benevolence on every single family in the constituency - directly or indirectly - by tactfully spreading welfare programmes and packages across the social divide throughout Ikono and Ini Local Government Areas. From miscellaneous, spontaneous and distress gifting, to structured empowerment and wealth-creation initiatives, he has indeed brought to the people what is due to them like he promised before office.

From miscellaneous and consistent financial grants for well over 400 individuals and families and counting to instituting an ongoing monthly alternative income scheme in the aftermath of Covid-19 - the U-Martha Ambassadors Scheme - for about 200 families. From providing about 11 motorcars and motorcycles, in addition to various other household items (like power-generating sets, deep freezers) for countless indigenes, to identifying with and supporting a Trust Fund for members of his constituency under the aegis of Ikono-Ini development Association (IIDA), Abuja, and even to facilitating the disbursement of cash relief from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management for 30 women in the constituency.

A wise leader knows not only to give his people fish but to point them towards financial independence by encouraging them to fish for themselves. Ukpong-udo has provided platforms for business and entrepreneurial development via his 'Macaire Enterprise Development Scheme' – a wealth creation programme to which over N100 million worth of support for start-ups and pre-existing entrepreneurial ventures was allotted. Courtesy of this empowerment programme, well over 100 members of the constituency received between N500,000 and N1million in cash grants. The Lawmaker has also facilitated the registration of about 50 indigenes to benefit from the Federal Government’s N-Power Programme.

In furtherance of this drive towards sustainable financial freedom for his people, Ukpong-udo has encouraged and empowered indigenes to leverage and access employment opportunities locally and nationally. In two years under his watch, over 109 new employment opportunities have been made available to his people within the public and private sectors, as he communicates employment opportunities, offers recommendations where required, not to mention creating the Macaire “I earn, You earn” Scheme, which cumulatively had 62 persons under his direct employ, drawing monthly wages from his personal earnings.

Rep. Ukpong-udo’s pledge to develop human capacity has seen fulfilment in the lives of Ikono-Ini indigenes, especially the youths. At the secondary level, educational materials have been providing in schools like Comprehensive Secondary School, Obotme, in Ini Local Government Area, while there is a proposition to equip the Science Laboratory at Lutheran Senior Science Secondary School, Ibakachi in Ikono.

Ukpong-udo also bankrolled free UTME Registration for 150 indigenes, many of whom have commenced undergraduate studies in tertiary institutions across the country. He has provided full undergraduate Scholarships for five undergraduates, while also bankrolling two educational Tours/Excursions for undergraduates from the constituency.
The development of human capital has been extended to a wider cross-section with the facilitation of a training Workshop on Peace and conflict resolution for over 800 indigenes comprising Traditional Rulers, men women and youths.

Despite his tight itinerary, Ukpong-udo has exemplified humaneness in leadership; making it an obligation to identify personally with his constituents – offering a handshake and thumbs up in times of celebration, or offering a shoulder in times of crisis.

The last 24 months have therefore seen a bountiful rain of unprecedented and deliberate people-centred developmental milestones which have impacted the elderly, the men, the women, the youth and the children – including the babies and the yet unborn - in Ikono-Ini Federal Constituency. The pulse of the Ikono-Ini people resonates with happiness with Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-udo for his stewardship at this mid-term mark. With two further years to go this term, the people have every reason to look forward with satisfaction and belief.

PoliticsNigeria’s Challenges Surmountable Under The Right Leadership – Gov. Emmanuel by Emelcee(op): 6:31pm On Jun 10, 2021
•••As PDP Zonal Exco lauds Governor Emmanuel’s transformational leadership in AKS

Akwa State Governor and leader of the PDP in the State, Mr Udom Emmanuel has maintained that the myriads of challenges plaguing the nation at this time could only be surmounted with the right leadership in place.

Governor Emmanuel who gave the indication when the South-South Zonal Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party called on him in Government House, Uyo, explained that transformational leadership remains the key that can unlock beneficial outcomes in the lives of the people of any nation, stressing that this kind of leadership is built on the timeless ideals of fairness, equity and balance.

The Governor said with the accolades Nigerians continue to give to the superlative performances of Governors elected on the platform of the PDP, it was clear that Peoples Democratic Party is a party driven by the ideologies of people-centric progress and development.

“Go around this nation, Nigerians have come to admit with commendation, that the only Governors commissioning projects and delivering unmatched performances in line with the electioneering promises and collective aspirations of their people are Governors elected on the platform of the PDP. I tell you that this is not a coincidence, our party the PDP has established for itself a reputation of electing people who strive against daunting odds to perform creditably.”

The Akwa Ibom State Chief Executive while speaking on the political development in Cross River said “I must commend eminent indigenes of Cross Rivers state for demonstrating a firm resolve to stay back in the PDP at this time. The incontrovertible truth remains that if these eminent people had defected, it would have meant that Cross River as a state has lost the PDP and not that that the PDP has lost Cross River.”
Governor Emmanuel also used the occasion to re-echo on the need for the speedy passage of the electoral act as this was more expedient and fundamental at this time.

The Akwa Ibom state Governor while congratulating the South-South Zonal Exco members on their success at the polls, charged them to commit their energies into deepening the footprints of the PDP in the South-South region.

Earlier, the PDP National Vice Chairman, South-South, Chief Dan Orbih while addressing Governor Emmanuel said the visit to Akwa Ibom was a fallout of the Exco’s decision to tour the States in South-South Zone, adding that with the peaceful ambience of Akwa ibom State, the economic-engendering infrastructure in the State and futuristic development programmes by the Governor Emmanuel’s administration, Akwa Ibom stays as model in transformational leadership in Nigeria.

Chief Orbih while lamenting the rising spate of insecurity in the nation and the economic plagues that Nigerians have been forced to bear, noted that Nigerians have come to discover that they are better off with the PDP.

He informed Governor Emmanuel that the South-South Exco of the PDP were fully in support of the resolutions reached by PDP Governors on issues of national interest stressing that the Exco will continue to support efforts by the PDP Governors to provide quality leadership to people of the various states.

PoliticsPetroleum Minister Lauds Akwa Ibom Govt At Int'l Petroleum Summit by Emelcee(op): 5:47pm On Jun 10, 2021
James Edet

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Silva, has commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for creating an enabling environment for foreign investments to thrive in the state.

The Minister, who stated this during his stop over at the Akwa Ibom State exhibition stand at the ongoing Nigeria International Petroleum Summit holding at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, also acknowledged the proactive engagements of the Udom Emmanuel administration, which have made the state conducive for multinational companies and other investors.

Chief Sylvia who commended the state for its huge contribution to the national revenue purse, noted that with its vast deposit of hydrocarbons, Akwa Ibom State, like other oil producing states of the Niger Delta region, remain key in the global energy transition agenda.

The Minister mentioned that the state's participation in the International Petroleum Summit is a worthwhile venture that will make the state more visible to the major industry players in the energy sector at the global level.

'I must commend Akwa Ibom State for this. We must participate in the industry and resources that are in abundance in our territory. I am happy that you are setting the stage for the international community to see the state. This is the right way to go. This is something that other states should emulate', the Minister said.

Welcoming the Minister to Akwa Ibom State stand, the Commissioner for Power and Petroleum Development, Dr. John James Etim, who is the head of Akwa Ibom State delegation to the Summit, informed Chief Silva and other members of the Minister's delegation, which included top industry executives from Nigerian corporations and International Oil Companies, that Akwa Ibom State is a one stop destination of choice for business, offering very attractive opportunities for investment, wealth creation and leisure.

•••Prayed the House to mandate the Standing Committee on Water Resources to ensure its implementation as it would boost the economic activities

NKARI DAM: REP. UKPONG-UDO MAKES CASE FOR ABANDONED PROJECT IN AKWA IBOM STATE

The Federal Government has been called upon to ensure the completion of Nkari Dam in Ini Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. This call was made earlier today, 9th June 2021 during the plenary at the House of Representatives by Rep. Emmanuel Ukpong-udo, representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency.

Speaking while moving a motion on the Need to prioritize the completion of Nkari Dam, Rep. Ukpong-udo noted that the Nkari Dam project was initiated and contracts awarded over 20 years ago by the Ministry of Water Resources to provide water for irrigation, electric power generation and flood control which would enhance environmental protection and economic activities in the area.

He informed that House that in 2018, the Federal Government, having acknowledged the need for the completion of the dam, approved a revised sum of 5.7 billion Naira for completion of the Dam alongside the Gari Irrigation Project in Kano and Jigawa states, but unfortunately no work has been done on-site. This is despite the fact that the 2020 Appropriation Act (which was funded 100%) captured the Nkari Dam Project.

Ukpong-udo lamented how the abandonment of the project by the contractor who had been mobilized is adversely affecting the region especially the loss of lives and the many people rendered homeless due to uncontrolled flooding. He also harped on how this has deprived the area of various other benefits of the dam, including human and livestock water supply, containment of mine tailings, recreation and pollution control.

The Lawmaker called on the House to urge the Federal Ministry of Water Resources to prioritize the completion of Nkari Dam in the 2022 budget estimates. He also prayed the House to mandate the Standing Committee on Water Resources to ensure its implementation as this would boost the economic activities in the region as many occupants of the area are known for commercial production of rice, palm produce. cassava and cocoa.

PoliticsAkpabio Sacks Anietie Ekong Over 'Ghana Must Go' Bag (Photos) by Emelcee(op): 7:57am On Jun 08, 2021
NDDC: MINISTER SACKS PRESS SECRETARY OVER ‘GHANA MUST GO’

Fresh facts have emerged that the sacking of the chief press secretary to the minister of niger Delta affairs may not be unconnected with the mismanagement of their recent visit by the minister to Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo.

Anietie Ekong, is said to have attracted the irk of his principal, Senator Godswill Akpabio, when pictures of a large 'Ghana Must Go' bag, suspected to contain millions of hard currency, were seen on the social media being escorted by the Minister to the creek.

It is believed that the Akpabio's philosophy, "what money cannot do, more money can do", has led to alleged frittering of billions of public funds on frivolous expenditures.

The visit to Tompolo, followed a seven day ultimatum, where the ex militant threatened to disrupt operations by the NDDC and other federal government parastatals, if a substantial board is not put in place by the Minister.

However during the visit, reports confirm that Akpabio and his entourage were seen coming out of the creeks, but without the big bag they dragged with them.

Whatever the contents of the bag, it was enough for the ex warlord to grant an extension to the ultimatum he issued, with the Minister given till the end of June to constitute the substantive board for the regional money spinning intervention agency.

However, Mr Government Ekpemupolo disagreed with the notion that Akpabio's money moved him to shift grounds.

In a statement, he said he review the early ultimatum he issued last Monday due to the aftermath of the consultative meeting held at Oporoza in Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local government Area (LGA), Delta State by leaders, youths and stakeholders from the region and not any form of inducement.

Ekpemupolo said he waded into the matter because of his love for the region and Nigeria, noting that he could not be compromised by money and other material things.

But Senator Godswill Akpabio is said to have been greatly embarrassed when the pictures of one of his aides carrying the huge bag, attracted widespread condemnations and ridicules from the media.

He blamed Anietie Ekong for negligent and careless in the pictures he sent out to the public.

His anger was further heightened when it was discovered that no external cameraman had access to the minister's visit which was done by boats and highly restricted.

A letter yesterday, by the Chief of Staff to the Minister, Sir Etekamba Umoren, announced that Anietie Ekong has been replaced by Jackson Udom, publisher of an online media platform, Pees Reporters.

Jackson Udom, a one time reporter with Tribune Newspaper had worked under Anietie Ekong in the media team of the Minister.

Crime#justiceforini: Some Points Worthy Of Note, Just In Case They Try To Confuse Us by Emelcee(op): 8:20am On May 13, 2021
From the THE POLICE -

"The suspect confessed to have told his Local Government Chairman of his atrocity before escaping to Calabar and was never at anytime handed over to the Police by anyone".

ON THE PART OF THE CHAIRMAN:

"For the records, it is not true that the suspect made a confession to me of his committing the crime before escaping to Calabar. As a matter of fact, when contacted, the suspect who was still denying his role on the trending kidnap/abduction news was persuaded to turn himself in order to clear his name, if his hands were clean as claimed by him. The suspect had no personal physical contact with me prior to his arrest by the DPO of Uruan".

FROM: KUFRE EFFIONG -

"The suspect requested that he needed audience with the Chairman and myself alone. So, we took him in urging him to tell us the truth to enable us assist him where necessary. Uduak started crying and shook his head to indicate that she was no more! I was wailing like a woman who has just lost all and so was the Chairman. With that mixed frustration and infuriation, we quickly handed the suspect back to the DPO to take to the Anti-kidnapping Unit and this, we did without any second thought, telling the DPO that we had washed our hands off the matter and would not wish to be associated with it".

Now, who do we believe in all of this?

The police, Uruan LGA Chairman or Kufre Effiong?

Can the police parade Uduak Akpan, let the world hear him confess to his crimes?

At least it will solve some of the puzzles here.

As Uniuyo publishes result

May this beautiful result of yours hunt and haunt them till their 7th generations...

May the children of those who conspire to take your life never participate in NYSC or pass through universities

Iniubong, your result has proven that you were very studious, very hardworking, very sound...

Your audacity to search for a job to help yourself pending your NYSC mobilization shows that you were not given to easy virtue like some young women of this age to have your way...

This is INIUBONG UMOREN'S final result... Next week her colleagues will be mobilized for NYSC, while she is lying dead.

GETS ACCOLADES FROM US AMBASSADOR

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has urged the Government of the United States of America to delist his state from the list of unsafe states in Nigeria.

Governor Emmanuel insisted that such categorization was at variance with the decisions of several security agencies, that place Akwa Ibom as one of the safest states in the country.

Governor Emmanuel spoke during a courtesy visit on him by the US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mary Beth Leonard on Tuesday at Government House, Uyo.
He said naming Akwa Ibom among the unsafe states in Nigeria, was repelling to investors, hence inimical to the industrialization drive of the state government.

“Help me review, right now we are expecting a whole lot of investors into the state the issue being that the publication that Akwa Ibom State is unsafe for Americans to travel into, is going to affect a whole lot of investments in the country, especially in Akwa Ibom, because it stands contrary to Police report and other security agencies reports.

"These is no society on Planet earth that there are no pockets of crime. Pockets of crime cannot render that state insecure”, Governor Emmanuel echoed.

Governor Udom Emmanuel who appreciated the partnership between America and Nigeria in the provision of critical facilities in the state, appealed to the American Government to partner the state government and implementation partners for effective monitoring of projects and transparency.

"The USAID can come in, we don’t need the money, they can partner this programme with the State Government, the Ministry of Health and the beneficiaries.

"You appoint the implementing partners we don’t know them and because you don’t create that interface between the State Government and these group of implementing partners. So we cannot even monitor as a second check of what we are doing, to be able to report back that money you are spending is actually getting to the people."

He explained that, "if the projects must go to the implementing partners let the State Government be the third party for proper monitoring and transparency in its financial reporting”.

The governor further emphasized that, the partnership with the state government will ensure that the programmes executed by US Government are of immense benefits to the people as the funds allocated will trickle down to the appropriate locations without encumbrances.

The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Mary Beth Leonard, said she was pleased to have the opportunity to visit the state to ascertain the status of the US funded projects, after constraints posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The US envoy described the Akwa Ibom State government as a model in the pandemic management and fundamental support for the USAID projects in the state.

She expressed delight over the investments made by the Akwa Ibom State Government in the health sector.

These, she said, were evident in the improved health infrastructure, trained health workers, the wellbeing of USAID projects in the state, reversal of hitherto held statistics in malaria, HIV/AIDS amidst the COVID pandemic.
