Omo-Agege denies invading senate and removal of mace Embattled Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has denied having anything to do with the Wednesday’s invasion of the senate chambers and the removal of the mace. The senator representing Delta Central has also been released by the police. The Senate Chamber was on Wednesday invaded by some persons who made away with the mace. Shortly after the mace was stolen, the Senate accused Omo-Agege of sending thugs to steal the mace. Omo-Agege in his reaction denied involvement in the theft of the mace. He said he has also left police custody. A statement by a legal practitioner, Mr. Lucky Ajokperniovo, for the office of the Senator, said that he only went to the Red Chamber on Wednesday to resume work and sit for plenary. He added that he was only invited by the police to speak about his perspective on the incident. “We are aware of several media reports suggesting that Senator Omo-Agege personally removed or encouraged anyone to remove the Mace of the Senate. Omo-Agege described the allegation as ‘very serious’. “We are carefully studying Senator Sabi’s allegations to ascertain their full ramifications. Appropriate responses will follow, as may be necessary,” Omo-Agege’s statement read. The mace which is the symbol of authority of the Senate was on Wednesday, snatched by some unidentified men. The men barged into the Chamber of the Senate, during plenary, pushed away the Sergeant-at-Arms positioned at the entrance and carted away the mace. The drama coincided with the protest at the National Assembly against the suspension of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, APC- Delta Central. The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday uncovered an illegal brewery where malt drinks and fake stout are produced at Egbe-Afa, Igbobo area of Ikorodu in Lagos. Five of the suspects behind the factory were also arrested by a team led by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, who took newsmen to the scene of the crime. It was discovered that the illegal brewery produced malt drinks, stout and Ethanol which they pump into trucks to bottle at another location. According to Imohimi, the suspects would be further interrogated to know where the drinks were bottled and sold. The Police boss urged residents to know their neighbours, saying that vigilance was the only way to have a crime-free society. “This success story of the police is an evidence that community policing and partnership is working in the state. “This is an illegal distillery where malt, stout and ethanol are being produced in an unhygienic environment thereby feeding poison to the people. “You will recall that a fake wine factory was also discovered at Mushin recently. This is as a result of vigilance. I encourage the people to do more. “This is an information which should have got to the police earlier, but I commend the people for sharing this information with the police. “People must be deeply involved in crime fighting and this can only be done if we are vigilant. “Lagosians can only give credible information to the people when they are healthy; so I will encourage you to say something when you see something,” he said http://anstalk.com/factory-brewing-fake-malt-stout-uncovered-in-lagos/ lalasticlala

Biologists from St. Petersburg have created a compound that causes cancer cells to repair their DNA or self-destruct after fatal genome damage occurs. The efficacy of the new compound is much higher than that of the most powerful drugs developed in the U.S. and Europe, TASS reported, quoting Alexander Garabagiu, professor of St. Petersburg State Technological Institute. It could be a new step toward more effective and safer chemotherapy. A large number of cancerous tumours are caused by the breakdown of the “p53 gene”, which is responsible for DNA repair and self-destruction in case of fatal genome damage. This is often caused by the increased activity of a protein called MDM2, which neutralises the molecules of“ p53”. Scientists have been trying to create or find a molecule that will neutralise the protein and help cells fight against small mutations and larger breakdowns in DNA. During their experiments, the compound created by Russian researchers was able to kill about 40 per cent of cancer cells. You may hate President Buhari for whatever reason, but there is something every Igbo must agree in his administration. Since 1999, this is the first time, all the federal roads in southeast are receiving attention. In times like this, we must acknowledge some silent facts. All the major federal roads in Igboland are under reconstruction, no president since 1999 has remembered us this way in terms of reviving the dearth of federal infrastructures in our region. Why acknowledging this feat, we must as a people begin to differentiate between ethnic sentiment and genuine projects being upgraded that have direct benefit to our people. These are some of the federal roads that works are ongoing in Igboland. Pls verify and confirm. They are; 1. Oba – Nnewi – Okigwe road linking Anambra state with Imo state. 2. Otuocha – Ibaji – Nzam road in Anambra state. 3. Abakaliki – Onueke-Abomega – Afikpo road 4. Nnenwe – Uduma – Uburu road connecting Enugu state with Ebonyi state. 5. Oji – Achi – Mmaku – Awgu road in Enugu state. 6. Ozalla – Akpugo – Amagunze road in Enugu state. 7. IkotEkpene – Aba. 8. Enugu-Onitsha expressway. 9. Enugu-PH expressway. Southeast roads have not had this good. Let's thank President Buhari for this. More reasons: http://anstalk.com/why-south-east-supports-president-buhari-intention-to-run-in-2019/ lalasticlala

President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, has disowned a purported leadership of Ohanaeze Youth Wing. Nwodo was reacting to the alleged “suspension” slammed on him, by the youth wing, during the weekend. Yesterday, Nwodo said the youth wing of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation had no leadership for now and so, could not have served a vote of no confidence on him. Nwodo, who reacted through his Special Adviser, Chief Emeka Attamah, described them as “attention-seekers.” Last week, the group passed a no confidence vote on Nwodo and also served him seven-day ultimatum to appear before a disciplinary committee, to answer allegations against him, which included running a one-man executive, partisanship and lack of transparency. But, Nwodo replied that the group had long been disbanded by Ime-Obi, which is the highest decision-making body of Ohanaeze. Pastor Tunde Bakare has declared that God is preparing a messiah from the North who will possess the capacity to deliver Nigeria from its challenges. The former running mate to President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2011 general elections said this during a sermon which was aired live on Channels Television yesterday. “Let no one deceive you, there’s nobody with the capacity to deliver Nigeria until that day; that day is coming, it’s very near,” he said while addressing the congregation at his Latter Rain Assembly Church in Lagos. “The reason things are going haywire in Nigeria today is because God is preparing the tender plant from the side of the North,” he said. Pastor Bakare told his congregation that although he had been speaking about his presidential ambition in parables, they should watch out for direct statements ahead of the 2019 elections. He maintained that he was not politicking about his ambition to become president but declaring what God has told him about his purpose in life. “The reason we refused to compromise our lives and to diminish our values is so that nobody can diminish our influence. There’s only one assignment left for me. It’s not down, it’s up. “I am declaring thus saith the Lord to this end was I born, for this purpose came I into the world that Nigeria will be saved, Nigeria will be changed, and Nigeria will become great in my lifetime. The mouth of the Lord has spoken it and the zeal of the Lord shall accomplish it,” Bakare added. Source: http://anstalk.com/2019-nigerias-messiah-will-come-from-north/
