TravelBreaking News: Arik Flight W3 628 Fails To Land Asaba Airport by emma321(op): 6:18pm On Jan 13, 2018
Arik Air flight traveling from Lagos to Asaba, Delta State, made a sudden turn midair on Friday evening after it reached its destination but was told that the airport was “closed for the day”.

Flight W3 628 had to return to the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, with the disappointed passengers.

The spokesperson of the airline, Olabanji Ola, who confirmed the incident to PREMIUM TIMES, said, “When the pilot approached the Asaba Airport, the control tower told him it would be too late for the aircraft to take off again if it lands in the airport.

“The airport is for daylight operation because it does not have traffic lighting. So, there’s a particular time if the pilot enters the airport the plane would not be able to take off again because of sunset,” Mr. Ola said.

The incident happened around 6.15p.m., he said.

The spokesperson said that Arik was very well aware of the limitation at the Asaba airport, but that “the normal time the airport is supposed to close which the airport gave us is 6.30 p.m.”.

Politics2019 Election: Igbo Youths Reveal Presidential Candidate by emma321(op):
The World Igbo Youth Council, WIC, has commended South-east zone of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for endorsing President Muhammadu Buhari for 2019 general elections.

The group assured that it would mobilise for the actualisation of the project.

National Vice Chairman, Chief Emmanuel Enukwu, had announced decision of the zone.

Enukwu made the declaration at the Umuahia Township Stadium during a mega rally organized for defectors from other parties.

“We believe we can actualize Igbo presidency in APC in 2023; we are solidly behind Mr. President”, he stated.

Reacting, WIC Deputy President General, Dr. Francis Ugwu, in a statement said the group will also campaign for APC to win governorship elections in South-east states.

“Ndigbo have never been in the opposition party since the time of our late leaders Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe, Michael Okpara and Akanu ibiam.

“We will never allow Ohanaeze Ndigbo to repeat the same mistake of not supporting President Buhari.

“World Igbo Youth Council has taken it as a responsibility to rescue Ndigbo from making another costly mistake in 2019 by supporting people who will use restructuring to deceive Ndigbo”, he said.

President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba on Thursday said the organised labour would not be intimidated by anybody in the pursuit of its legitimate rights.

Waba who led thousands of workers to Government House, Kaduna said the union would not back down in its opposition to the sack of 36,000 workers by Gov. Nasiru El-Rufa’i.

The NLC president accused the governor of disobeying court order and using the security agencies to intimidate the workers who were on peaceful protest.

According to him, information about competency bandied by the governor as excuse for the sack was false but a predetermined agenda to reduce the state workforce.

“The sack of 36,000 workers has nothing to do with competency; Kaduna state government didn’t conduct competency test for local government workers yet they were sacked.
