Britain’s Export Finance Agency has announced plan to add the Naira to its list of “pre-approved currencies”. This will allow the agency provide financing for transactions with Nigerian businesses denominated in the local currency. According to Reuters, the Naira will become one of three West African currencies that UK Export Finance has pre-approved for its programme of funding transactions that promote trade with Britain. “This is a clear indication of how much value the UK places on its relationship with Nigeria”, British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Paul Arkwright said in a statement by the UK credit agency. “It will provide a firm foundation for a significant increase in trade and investment between both countries”. The statement said the UK would provide up to 85 per cent of funding for projects containing a minimum of 20 per cent British content. Big brother housemate, Cee-C has come under attack over her claim that she can make N45m in a day. Cee-C on Thursday boasted in a conversation with fellow housemate, BamBam that the grand prize N45m is not important to her as she can make such amount in a week. This has generated reactions as some Nigerians on social media wondered why she came for the reality show if she can make such amount of money. They described her as being fake. They compared her to ex-housemate, Tboss, who made similar comment in the last edition. Recall that Tboss had last year come under intense criticisms by followers of the programme for saying if she won, she would spend the N25m in a week. It was alleged that the new Commander of the Squad demanded for N10m from BIRS, claiming it was an order from the IGP. The Squad was further alleged to have manhandled Mrs. Mimi Orubibi, the Executive Chairman of BIRS for refusing to agree to the unholy demand. Twenty-two political parties under the umbrella of Committee of Concerned Political Parties (CCPP) have constituted six committees on security, restructuring and 2019 general elections. Interim Chairman of CCPP, Dr Onwubuya Breakforth, made this known to newsmen on Friday in Abuja. Breakforth, who is the National Chairman of Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), said that the group was concerned about boiling national issues, including killings by herdsmen and restructuring. He said that the group was committed to contributing its quota towards addressing them. The sub-committees, according to Breakforth, are on restructuring Nigeria and inter-governmental affairs; national security and integration as well as planning and finance. Others are on contact and mobilisation, and on research and documentation. He added that the committees would commence action and make recommendations before the unveiling of the group in a few weeks. “The CCPP also resolved to jointly discuss and proffer solutions to key national issues threatening the peace and unity of our dear country. “It was further resolved that various options open to the group in relation to the 2019 general elections would be explored in the best interest of the country,” he said. Breakforth said that the group had agreed to form a three-member steering committee to pilot its affairs. He added that additional sub-committees were formed to articulate overall objectives for the group and other topical national issues. The chairman disclosed that while 22 political parties were present at the meeting, nine others had indicated interest to join the group. He listed some of the political parties represented at the meeting as Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), Sustainable National Party (SNP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) and Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN). It also included Grassroots Development Party of Nigeria (GDPN) and National People’s Congress (NPC). Source NAN http://anstalk.com/obasanjos-coalition-for-nigerians-holds-rally-in-ondo/ Lalasticlala

The Coalition for Nigeria (CN), initiated by former President Olusegun Obasanjo has held its first meeting in Ondo State. The meeting, which held in Akure, the Ondo State capital, had in attendance members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC). Prominent members of the PDP and APC who were at the meeting include Hon. Demola Ijabiyi, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akintoye, former Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Dare Emiola, former PDP State Chairmen, Ebenezer Alabi and Biyi Poroye, Dr. Dare Bada, Sunday Menukuro and Kehinde Alabi. Also at the meeting were APC chieftains: Jimi Adekanle and Mrs. Kehinde Adeniran, among others. The coordinator, an ally of Obasanjo, Ijabiyi speaking at the meeting said the group was not a political party, but a mass movement to determine Nigerians’ liberation from hands of corrupt leaders. According to him, a large component of the party was for the youths. “APC and PDP are vessels of darkness. We are bringing people to light as nobody will like to remain in darkness. “There is the need to liberate ourselves from the bondage of these exploiters who have no solution to the problems of the country. “For now, we are not a political party, but after collating the movement as a formidable mass movement of people in all sectors of life, the decisions of leaders of the coalition will metamorphose into a political party. “There are several movements coming up that would align with this coalition to achieve the desired goals. “The youth would form the largest component of those to lead the movement and determine their leaders at various levels, there is no way the present precarious situation in the country will be allowed to remain without seeking the best solution,” he said. http://anstalk.com/obasanjos-coalition-for-nigerians-holds-rally-in-ondo/
