Music/Radio / 'nigerian Music Is Unintelligent. Even Goats Can Dance To It' - Jesse Jagz by emmabowin(m): 7:32pm On Sep 25, 2013 |
In a recent interview with Hip world, Nigerian rapper and music producer, Jesse Jagz, said that Nigerian music is unintelligent. “This is not a Kendrick thing. You don’t need Jesus to tell you that Nigerian music is unintelligent. Even Goats can dance to our music. Can Jesse Jagz make Nigeria a better place for Wizkid? Can Wizkid do same too? Let adults do better and let kids party. We need to leave something better for the coming generation” he explained. When asked who his top 3 Nigerian artistes were, he replied, “my top 3 artistes in nigeria are me, me, me. no one works harder than me. i would love to see a lot of my colleagues step up their game. Do you agree with Jesse? articles.9jamatter.com/nigerian-music-is-unintelligent-even-goats-can-dance-to-it-jesse-jagz/?fb_source=pubv1 1 Like

Religion / Re: Christianity And Science by emmabowin(m): 7:07pm On Sep 24, 2013 |
doclan: hi roomies... To me, the bible is wat furnishes us for the afterlife. Pure Science and Christianity are not adversaries of eachother 2Tim6vs20, the problem is the Catholics... They cdnt stand it- science was gaining grounds, people sought 4 answers other than that given by their preists, they saw ds as a threat to their dominant rule of the empire, they did several things to suppress the advancement of science. Dnt mistake Christianity 4 Catholicism. I still dnt undastand why U want the bible(66 books) to vividly elucidate all pertaining to life.. It picked the nagging subject of a common man(a life acceptable by God) and dealt thoroughly with it. I suggest the APOCRYPHA is the place to go when searching 4 details.. God bless You all If not for d Catholic church, d earlier scientists would have made everyone become an atheist. D Catholic church must be commended for relegating science to d back seat then .science is only a subset of Christianity, man's understanding of God's creation. therefore, Christianity should dictate for science and not d opposite. |

My understanding is that christianity continues from where science stops.christianity serves to answer questions where science fails.christianity serves to correct the ills and shortcomings as well as the limitations of science. -emma bowin |

Phones / The Fight Is Now Between Samsung And Tecno- by emmabowin(m): 9:01am On Sep 21, 2013 |
Samsung has made insane investments in creating a premium brand that can go toe to toe with Apple. Tecno on the other hand has a chinko perception problem.Since I wrote that article however, my thinking about Tecno’s strategy has come a long way. That has to do in part with some compelling perspectives shared by a fellow cabalist about how Tecno is winning . Another part has to do with personally seeing these Tecno devices proliferate like some primal strain of virus within my own physical geek circle. Most would think that what Tecno does has no impact on Samsung’s business. It’s like pitting a scrawny welter-weight against a heavy-weight boxing champion, right? That a brand like Sammy might need to duke it out with an upstart OEM like Tecno seems laughable. Except it isn’t. From where I’m standing though, Samsung is concerned about Tecno. Concerned enough to start handing out powerbanks. For those not familiar with the term, a powerbank is portable battery pack that you can charge and then use to charge your mobile device when you’re on the go and not close to a power source. I was fortunate to have one from Nokia bundled with my Lumia 520 purchase courtesy the vendor, and I can tell you those things are a lifesaver. These things have been around for a while, but the term “powerbank” seems to have been popularised (at least within my circles) by the fact that Tecno’s portable charger have the word boldly emblazoned on them. However, Tecno’s powerbank comes with two important “innovations”. Number one, they are free and come bundled with most of Tecno’s latest devices. Number two and perhaps most important — they possess flashlights. No kidding, these guys have us figured out. So you can imagine how my interest was piqued when I got word off the street that Samsung Nigeria has started bundling their own powerbanks with the Galaxy Grand. Those phones used to come with signed BankyW sleeves, but if what I’m hearing is true, then it would seem that Samsung has found out that Nigerians care more about battery life and flashlights than that autographs and leather frippery. Samsung fanboys (shouldn’t those exist by now?) can rant all they want. But this means that Samsung Nigeria now officially acknowledges Tecno as their competition At least enough to start tweaking their local marketing strategy in response. The next question now is if Samsung is willing to start competing on value added perks perhaps price is next battlefield? That’s the race to the bottom that they’ve shelled out millions of dollars in marketing to avoid, but the kind of scrappy game that Tecno still excels at even if they’ve professed a desire to move out of the low end themselves Tecno has been on a sustained roll in recent months. They’ve pushed out a slew of devices that walk and talk like Galaxys, but cost a third of the price They’ve got a cheap-ass but seemingly capable Android tablet on the market that swears it’s an iPad mini until you turn it around. It would have been great if there were some actual mobile device usage or sales data to corroborate, but in this market, Tecno looks to be flying like a butterfly and stinging like a bee. It won’t be enough to take them out, but Samsung will have to move fast if they don’t want to get stung. http://articles.9jamatter.com/ bankole-oluwafemi-its-samsung- vs-tecno-now-fight/? fb_source=pubv1 1 Like

Education / ASUU Strike Update: Students Give Fg, ASUU 7-day Ultimatum To End Strike by emmabowin(m): 9:48am On Aug 29, 2013 |
After almost two months of near silence, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) finally woke up from their slumber and has given the Federal Government and ASUU one week ultimatum to end the prolong industrial action. Only recently,FG had claimed that ASUU had been infiltrated by the opposition,i guess it's safe to say that NANS seems to have taken sides or could it be that they too had been infiltrated. Peeved by almost two-month old strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), yesterday issued a one-week ultimatum to the Federal Government and the union’s leadership to resolve their differences or face serious consequences. The students said if the impasse was not resolved within the next seven days, it will mobilise students on a nation-wide riot in what it described as ‘operation occupy Nigeria’. The students’ body appealed to ASUU to return to the classroom and continue negotiation with the Federal Government since the latter claimed to have released over N100 billion for infrastructural development and another N30 billion for allowances. This was the highpoint of a protest by the students who blocked the Asaba end of the River Niger Bridge to press home their demands. The protest caused traffic snarl for several hours as the students stalled movements to the eastern part of the country even as those returning were barred. NANS coordinator in the South- South and South-East, Comrade Chinonso Obasi, stated that students were at the receiving end of the strike and vowed that they would take their destinies in their own hands if the parties failed to reconcile within a week. “We are appealing to ASUU that since the Federal Government has been able to release N100 billion for infrastructural development and N30 billion for allowance, they should go back to classroom and continue their negotiation or agitation. This is our prayer and wish. “We are giving them one week to open the schools or be ready to face corrosive consequences in form of nation-wide demonstration and riots. We are ready to mobilise for that and it will be operation occupy Nigeria,” he said. Lamenting the effect of the strike, Obasi said students have become prone to accidents on the highways and the female students have been reduced to s*x hawkers on the streets. His words: “I stand to tell you that a lot of accidents have been recorded and 99.9% of the victims are Nigerian students. If they were in classrooms, they would not have fallen victims of road crashes. “Our female students have become commercial s*x hawkers on the streets in order to make ends meet. This colossal effect is more than what ASUU is agitating for. Hence, we can no longer fold our arms and watch things go wrong.” (SunNewsOnline) source articles. naijamatters.com |
