a sales girl with Shoprite stores, Eti-Osa, Lagos Mariam Mufutau has been arrested and arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing the sum of N553,956,000 she realized from sales just one month after she was employed.

The management of Shoprite Stores had reported a case of theft to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Ilasan Division, Lekki, Eti-Osa, SP Oyinye Onwuamaegbu and that they suspected their sales girl to have stolen their N535,956,000 she realized from sales just one month after she was employed


Following the report, Onwuamaegbu ordered Inspector Orukotan Lonikola to arrest the accused. During investigation, the accused could not give account of the missing money. Mufutau was arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos on a two count charge of felony to wit. stealing.

Police prosecutor, Esther Adesulu informed the court in charge No: J/38/2017 that the accused committed the alleged offence between 1 April and 31 May, 2017 at Shoprite Stores, Eti-Osa during working hours.

Adesulu told the court that the accused betrayed the trust reposed in her as a sales girl by her employer and stole the sum of N535,956,000 she realized from sales instead of remitting the money into her employer’s account, she was using her own personal POS to syphon the money. She said the management at Shoprite Stores uncovered the fraud when they audited the account.


Adesulu said the offence the accused committed were punishable under section 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015. The accused pleaded not guilty to the alleged crime and Magistrate O.O Owunmi granted her to bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Owunmi adjourned the case till 28 July, 2017 for mention while the defendant was taken to Kirikiri Prison pending when she would be able to fulfill her bail condition.

A young man was left with serious injuries after members of a vigilante group, who accused him of being a "MASSOB boy" allegedly stabbed him on the head with a broken bottle in Onitsha
Below is the account of the incident by the victim's employer, Nzeh Nneji....

"On 12th of July, we were coming back from office,all a sudden there was a traffic before i could realize what was going on, the occupant of cars in front of mine left there car running for safety,me,MY WIFE and MY boy left our car for safety.ah i thought IT was the usual onitsha hoodlums trying to steal again, but this time IT wasnt the innocent misinterpreted people,rather they were the massob boys breaking bottles along bata brothers new market road by venn road.

When the situation was arrested,i waited for MY boy to come so that we can go but he is no where to BE found, I called his number, he was crying that I should come and rescue him that they want to kill him(vigilante) When I got there ,MY boy have been beating and one of the vigilante used a bottle and stabbed him on his head.

I rushed him to estate hospital where he was treated and immediately we were done with the stitches they came back and took him away to CPS onitsha, saying he is one of the massob members. when I got to the station,the dpo said I should take MY boy home and come back the next morning to see him.

This boy have only stayed a year with me and I have spent much on this but the dpo have been begging me not to press further,

please MY people,what should I DO,I need the human Right to intervene on this because that BEAST might someday kill innocent soul

General Overseer of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele has revealed through prophecy that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu may die in the struggle for the Actualization of Biafra.

According to the Cleric who spoke with Sun, the IPOB leader had already taken some steps that will fail him.

The prophet, who also said God revealed to him Biafra may be achieved in the nearest future, added that Nnamdi Kanu’s life was at risk because of the way he talks.

According to him, “Nnamdi Kanu’s life is at risk especially because of the way he talks, his misuse of words.

“Forget about all he is doing, let him continue to pray to the dead souls.

“Kanu will not lead Biafra. Biafra vision may be actualized in the nearest future, he will not lead the Igbo to actualize the vision.

“He is taking some wrong steps that will fail him to actualize his dream as a leader of Biafra.

“Then the Igbo should not expect the Presidency in 2019. Their time has not come.

“I am talking as a prophet not as a politician. Kanu is still going to face a lot of challenges and if he is not careful enough, he may miss it.

“He must be careful so that he doesn’t lose his life in the cause of this struggle. He needs to be extremely careful and watchful.”

Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, has asked Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to release the probe panel report on the suspended duo of Babachir Lawal, secretary to the government of the federation, and Ayo Oke, director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

Oke was suspended after his agency claimed ownership of the monies discovered in an Ikoyi apartment while Lawal was suspended over his indictment for corruption by the senate committee on the humanitarian crisis in the north-east.

A panel headed by Osinbajo was subsequently set up to investigate the duo.

In a letter written to the acting president which was dated July 11, 2017, Fayose threatened to ask the court to compel Osinbajo to release details of the report.

Lere Olayinka, the governor’s spokesperson, made the details of the letter known in a statement issued on Sunday.

The statement quoted the governor as condemning the manner the matter is being handled, adding that “both men (Oke and Lawal) should have been handed over the two men to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for investigation and arraignment

“Fortunately and unfortunately, President Buhari has been away on medical tourism for most part of this year and as the acting president, the buck now stops on your desk. Your Excellency, Nigerians demand two actions from you: First is that you release the report of the corruption investigation, which you presided over. Secondly is that you act expeditiously on the report,” the letter read.

“May I advise, Your Excellency, that you should never habour the view that this matter can swept under the carpet for two reasons. One is that Nigerians are not unmindful of the outcome of your investigation even if it has not been officially released. Two is that should you fail to release the report and act on it, I shall approach the law court to compel you to do so.

“Your Excellency, as a Law professor and senior advocate of Nigeria, Your Excellency must not be associated with illegalities and cover-ups; not to talk of your highly exalted position as a man of God who must speak truth at all times and uphold the Biblical admonition to let justice flow like the mighty river.

“I have refused to agree with those who, on account of your egregious stance on the EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu’s continued but illegal stay in office; posit that the hood does not make the monk and a chain of titles and degrees does not translate to sound judgment. Kindly take up the challenge to prove those doubting Thomases wrong.”

While condemning the “slap-on-the-wrist treatment” given to the duo, Fayose said the case would have been different had it involved members of the opposition “who are always witch-hunted”.

“In fact, PDP members and non-members of the ruling APC alleged to be corrupt, such as judges, are first harassed, haunted, hounded, arrested and locked up, tried and convicted in the media and visited with public lynching while the Department of State Service (DSS) and the EFCC take their time to search for or conjure evidence against them,” the letter further read.

“So reckless and audacious had your government become in this regard that a serving senator who is a member of your party said on the floor of the senate that your government uses insecticides when dealing with alleged cases of corruption involving members of the opposition but applies deodorant when members of the ruling party are involved.

“I dare to say that this is one of the reasons the so-called war against corruption has not attracted public support. It lacks credibility and has, thus floundered. It is also the reason your administration has lost case after case in the court of law, even though administration officials have tried to cover government’s Achilles heel as well as their own howling incompetence under the pretence of corruption fighting back.”
