Minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun, has said the rate of treasury looting in Nigeria is on the high side because the system in place makes the act easy to perpetrate. Mrs Adeosun said the federal government was employing means to make it difficult for looters to keep having a field day. The Nation quoted the minister as saying this on Tuesday at a conference on “Promoting International Cooperation in Combating Illicit Financial Flows and Enhancing Asset Recovery to Foster Sustainable Development”. The conference was organised by the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) in collaboration with the ministries of justice and foreign Affairs. “We are taking steps to improve tax administration, to improve compliance and to generally make it a little more difficult for people to loot the treasury,” said the minister. “My experience from the little time I’ve spent as a minister is that it’s far too easy to do these things in Nigeria, and we’ve got to make it much more difficult. Adeosun lamented the difficulty in recovering stolen loot stashed in foreign countries and also noted that it was imperative to curb the illicit flow of Nigeria’s funds abroad. She said the looted funds could be used to develop roads, power and capital projects in the country. “From the Ministry of Finance perspective, our view is that prevention is better than cure. Recovering money is exciting but it’s difficult. It takes years,” she said. “We’re still battling to recover money that was looted from Nigeria 20 years ago. So my perspective as Minister of Finance and as an accountant is: how do we block the money getting out in the first place? “How do we strengthen our controls? How do we create the early warning systems that tell us to flag certain transactions? Let’s stop the money going out; let’s stop the loss, and then we can work on recovery. “There’s a saying that you can’t miss what you’ve never had. But when we see our crumbling infrastructure, we are missing what we never had. “We are missing the road, the power, the capital projects that could have been funded with money that has left our shores illegally, or money that is concealed within the country equally illegally.” Read more http://ogashub.com.ng/it-is-very-easy-to-steal-money-in-nigeria-as-a-politician-kemi-adeosun/

Delta central senator, Ovie Omo-Agege has emphatically stated that Urhobo people are not part of Biafra. Omo-Agege in a statement released on Wednesday stated that the Urhobo nation is part of Nigeria and not interested in seceding or being part of Biafra. The statement read; With the deluge of concerns being raised by my people, it has become necessary to state with absolute clarity as the Senator for the Urhobo Nation in the 8th Senate of our Federal Republic of Nigeria that the Urhobo Nation has never been, is not and does not wish to be part of Biafra. Whereas Article 1 (2) of the United Nations Charter recognises the “principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples”, this, obviously, does not grant any group the right to arbitrarily usurp the self-determination right of others. MASSOB, IPOB or whatever ethnic-leaning group may have the right to agitate for self-determination for the people they represent. But that right would be encroaching and trampling severely and irresponsibly on the rights of other ethnic groups if, without consultations or any consensus whatsoever, they (MASSOB, IPOB or whatever ethnic-leaning group) decide to forcefully include others in their self-determination agenda. The Urhobo Nation totally rejects such unforgivable disrespect that touches on our very existence. Indeed, the unilateral inclusion of the Urhobo Nation in the flag or map of Biafra is an abhorrent, and condemnable threat to our people. It is an unacceptable attempt to suppress our own right to self-determination. We will never tolerate it and it must stop forthwith. We are cautioning against this trend of arbitrariness and disregard for the rights of others because we know that such a ‘conquest mentality’ has never promoted sustainable peace in human history. The Urhobo Nation believes in the unity of the Nigeria Federation. Our preference, as a major strategic partner in our Federation, is to work hard to correct its imperfections, not to break it up into bits and pieces. I will continue to work with my great and highly respected colleagues of Ndigbo extraction and other parts of our country in the National Assembly to perfect our Union, not break it. In all, this is our simple and firm position: We are Urhobos and Nigerians, not Biafrans. Read more http://ogashub.com.ng/we-are-urhobos-and-nigerians-not-biafrans-senator-omo-agege/

Dammy Krane and his co-defendant, Chukwuebuka Gabriel Ilonchowu have been denied bail. Read Their exclusive report below; AML has obtained a copy of the Complaint/Arrest Affidavit for Nigerian pop singer Dammy Krane and his co-defendant Chukwuebuka Gabriel Ilonchowu (“Ebuka”), an alleged U.S. promoter who allegedly hired Krane’s services to perform in the United States. The complaint explains the details of how and why the two were arrested for the alleged crimes of grand theft, credit card, and identity fraud, among other charges. To summarize the allegations against the two, Krane and Ebuka purchased two private charter flight tickets with fraudulent credit cards to travel from Miami to Washington D.C. The CEO of the company they purchased the tickets from, Eugene Kesselman of Tap Jets Inc., was suspicious of them and contacted the police who arrived and waited for them at the airport. When the duo subsequently arrived at the airport, the police detained them and subsequently took them into custody, after an investigation. The police say they were able to identify the duo by their legal names. Dammy Krane had his passport along with several credit cards in the front of his pant pocket. Three of the credit cards were in Krane’s name but four were in the name of a William Payton III. The duo each had a book bag and a suitcase. When the officer searched those, legitimately per the officer’s claim, they found several cell phones and laptops in the bags of the duo. The two were read their Miranda rights after the police established there was probable cause to arrest them. The police asked if they wished to speak with an attorney. They allegedly declined by waiving their rights to counsel. By the way, the police say in the complaint that Kesselman’s employee Stephanie Rodriguez claims that she received a call from Dammy Krane who wanted to know when his jet flight would arrive, and also whether there were issues with the credit card on file for him. The police claim that even though she knew that there was an issue, she did not want to alarm him. So she told him there was no issue. Nevertheless, he mentioned there were other card numbers he could give her to ensure there was no issue. As it stands, both co-defendants are still in custody and have been denied bail. Dammy Krane who was set for a Nebbia Hearing today appeared in court and was denied a release on bail. He is set to be arraigned on June 23rd, 2017. The District Attorney is also allegedly considering adding more charges against Dammy Krane. Krane’s co-defendant, Ebuka, has a prior history of grand theft, and fraud crimes. http://ogashub.com.ng/dammy-krane-denied-bail-as-new-details-about-his-arrest-emerge/ http:///2qVBSkg

Jewish Prophet Joshua Yanis has noted it is inevitable to achieve Biafra without the spilling of blood. Yanis says the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu's life is in grave danger. The clergyman says there are many elites of the east who do not want the best for Kanu, and will do anything to oust the Radio Biafra director. Yanis warned Kanu to be careful of the people he works with, shakes hands and relates with, warning against politicians, pastors and other prominent Nigerians that are paying him visits. In his Youtube video titled: “The future of my people, Biafra,” Yanis said Kanu should be careful and watchful as some people that claim to be his friends may be out to eliminate him. Regarding Biafra attainment he said the world is now aware of the Biafra people, he said the movement has made a very concrete statement. The clergyman however noted that Biafra will still take sometime before it is actualized. He also stressed that there has to be shedding of blood or else there won't be an attainment of Biafra. Below is the now highly viral video of the self-acclaimed Jewish prophet. In a similar vein, a call has been made for the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, following a move by the IPOB to map Kogi and Benue states as part of Biafra territory. The call for Kanu's arrest was made by a Kogi socio-cultural group named the Ujache Igala Association. The group which gave the police a deadline of two weeks to arrest Kanu, said the IPOB's claim to territory was "utter madness". Chief Goodman Akwu, the group's national chairman, in a statement made on Monday, June 5, stressed that there is no logical reason why Kogi and Benue should be mapped as part of Biafra. Akwu said the IPOB and other pro-Biafra agitators that agreed to the mapping are but pushing their dreams too far. “It is high time the government overcame its insouciance and nipped this audacity of seditious act on time,” the group said. http://ogashub.com.ng/jewish-prophet-reveals-what-will-happen-to-nnamdi-kanu-before-biafra-is-achieved/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPItWeqZezY |

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, under the Ahmed Makarfi faction has reacted to reports of formation of a new political party by some of its members including the founder of DAAR Communications, owners of African Independent Television, AIT, Raymond Dokpesi. The Makarfi-led faction of the PDP in a statement issued addressing the unveiling of the new political party, Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance, APDA, denied connections with the move. This comes after some sections in the media had earlier reported that Makarfi was part of the new party.] In the press statement issued, the Makarfi-led faction said: “In the last few hours, we have received numerous calls from our Party members, concerned citizens and well wishers on our association or otherwise with the Advance Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) which was unveiled today at Abuja. For the avoidance of doubt, we reiterate once again that we are not in any way associated with the New Party in any form or guise. The APDA is neither an offshoot of the PDP nor its alter ego as some are speculating. “This statement is made purely to set the Records straight and to avoid unnecessary innuendos, speculations and ambiguity that may threaten the continued unity and solidarity of our Party members. We thank millions of well-meaning Nigerians for their concern and commitment to the defence of our nascent democracy. In the end, this democracy cannot survive without a strong and vibrant opposition. “God bless the PDP! An agent of NairaBet, a sports betting platform, has ended his life over his inability to pay a customer who allegedly won a N600,000 bet. Residents of Obadeyi Ajala woke up on Wednesday to find the deceased dangling from a rope in an uncompleted shop at Ajala bus stop, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. According to the PUNCH, information gleaned from a lady supposed to be his girlfriend indicated that the man had intended to commit suicide, she also added that she had tried to reach him earlier but his line was unreachable. Apparently, the reason for his suicide was due to the because he was owing a customer who had won N600,000 from his NairaBet shop and he was yet to pay. Whether there was usually a delay in payment, Nairabet official who responded to questions from the Punch newspapers indicated that the firm always paid for any ticket won, adding that it was not aware of the incident. The official said; “We always pay for any ticket won. An agent has his own personal business. He/she is just a partner with NairaBet in which we share commission on a monthly or weekly basis. So, it depends on the understanding he had with the customer or the issue on the ground before he committed suicide.” Source : http://ogashub.com.ng/nairabet-agents-commits-suicide-over-inability-to-pay-n600000-winning/

Police in Indianapolis, the capital of Indiana in the United States has launched a manhunt for the killer of a Nigerian pastor, Oluwadayomisi Epenusi. The 66-year-old Nigerian was shot to death over the weekend at an apartment complex near 10th street and I-465 on the city’s west side, TheCable.ng reports. Friends and neighbours said Epenusi, had only recently moved to Indiana from Nigeria where he worked as a pastor. They said they had heard a series of gunshots early Saturday morning. “I heard about 15 gunshots. It was nuts,” said neighbour Kristina Teague Teague called 911, but by the time police arrived the victim had run back to his apartment and a roommate then drove the bleeding man to Eskenazi Hospital where the 66-year-old died, unable to explain to his roommate what led up to the shooting. “The roommate said when he was on the way he asked him what happened and why he got shot, but the man couldn’t say nothing because he was still in pain,” said Moshood Kafaru. Kafaru moved to the United States from Nigeria, as did the victim who worked as a pastor. “He was just a nice person who would go to work and come home and go to church. He didn’t talk to anybody. He never bothered anybody,” said Kafaru. Police do not know for sure, but Kafaru believes the violence may have started as a robbery. “He was holding a purse. He refused to let it go. They thought he had money in the purse, but he didn’t want to let it go,” said Kafaru. A large group of Nigerians live in the apartment complex and those that knew Epenusi said he had been working hard to help his kids to move to the United States. “They just got a visa. That why he was working, so his family can come over here,” said Kafaru. “He was just an innocent man and it just upsets me that he’s gone just like that.” “It’s really sad because he was here sending money to his family,” said Teague. Police have asked people with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS. Source: http://ogashub.com.ng/nigerian-pastor-shot-dead-in-u-s/

The former governor of Delta, James Ibori, has revealed how he was instrumental in the emergence of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in 2015. According to him, Okowa’s emergence was based on justice, equity and fairness. Ibori stated this when he received a delegation of Ndi Anioma led by Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor, the Obi of Owa, and Chairman, Delta Council of Traditional Rulers, in his home in Oghara on Saturday. He commended the Delta North (Anioma) people for the visit and for their prayers which made freedom possible. He said the massive support he received from the Aniomas in his quest for governorship in 1998 prompted his choice of an Anioma indigene as his deputy. “My belief in justice, equity and fairness informed my firm support for an Anioma governor which has come to pass with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in the saddle”, Ibori added. He promised to continue to identify with the Anioma people and urged them to remain united and support Okowa to succeed. Earlier, the Owa monarch had commended Ibori for his disposition to advance the political course of Anioma people. He said that the five years absence of the former governor was greatly felt by Deltans, particularly the political class and members of the Peoples’ Democracy Party (PDP). The monarch added that Ibori’s return would change the political landscape of the state ahead of 2019 elections. Others on the delegation were Chief Benjamin Elue, Chief Nkem Okwuofu, Dr. Chris Agbobu, Chief Theodora Giwa-Amu, traditional rulers, legislators and members of the State Executive Council from Delta North.
