A Zimbabwean woman, the spouse of a prison guard, who had had enough of her husband’s infidelity, last Saturday night took matters into her hands as she burnt his car that was parked at a friend’s house while her man was bedding his girlfriend.

The Zimbabwe Prison and Correctional Services officer was identified as Edmore Mafuya.


Mafuya’s wife is alleged to have ‘set surveillance mechanisms’ on her skirt chasing husband whom she had been having marital disputes with for years.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, says Nigeria has achieved the status of second largest producer of rice in the world.

The presidential media aide, who spoke on the efforts being made by Pres. Buhari to restructure the economy, called for more patience.

He said the government met a situation in which the economy had been ravaged, while the people had been used to lifestyles that could no longer be sustained.

He said:

“No country will develop when you have to import virtually everything, including tooth pick and tissue paper. All the food we eat in this country was being imported.

So, all of the money earned was just going to buy food. But as I speak to you now, Nigeria just achieved the record of the second largest producer of rice in the world. The rice revolution just started a year ago. .
Some of you from Nasarawa know the kind of things going on there. A newspaper did an investigation in Kebbi and they found out that there were 48,000 new millionaires in Kebbi state alone last year for growing rice.

This over reliance on oil has killed this country and we cannot continue like this. So, the diversification of the economy means more money will be in the hands of ordinary Nigerians. And there will be widespread prosperity all over the country.”
He expressed happiness that “the economy is getting better, oil price is going up and the policies of government in the Niger Delta are beginning to calm things down”. Malam Garba added that “exploration and exportation of oil is growing, gas is coming back and power is getting better”.

“So, all we require of you is to be patient, Pres. Buhari is a long distance runner. He is not looking for short-term gain that people will just clap at him and those advantages just disappear. He wants to build a future of prosperity, a future that will be everlasting-something that will stay for generation upon generation.”

The deputy chief of staff to Plateau state governor, Barrister Simon Lalong, is dead, Thisday reports.

According to the report, Barrister Yusuf Gambo Hawaja died on Sunday, February 19 at the Bingham University Teaching Hospital (BhUTH) in Jos the state capital.

Daily Post gathered that he collapsed in his house and died in the car as he was being taken to the hospital.

A member of Muslim Ullamah in the state. Alhaji Sani Mudi, confirmed the development according to the report.

He died at the aged of 54 years old leaving behind his aged mother, Hajiya Maryam Hawaja, four children and his wife Hajiya Fatima Hawaja.

He was appointed deputy chief of staff by Governor Lalong in 2015. He has since being buried according to Muslim rights.

The incident is coming almost three weeeks after Agunola Omomowo, chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and chairman of Ilaje local government area of Ondo state slumped and died in his hotel room.Omomowo, popularly known as “Adoration”among his political supporters died in the early hours of Friday, February 3 after attending a political meeting.

“I want to tell you that the economic hardship will continue. Dasuki issue will continue, Avengers’s request must be met. CBN governor should be removed, then we can have stability in the economy.

“There will be more protests, Osinbajo will betrayed by those he trusts the most. America is in trouble presently, the world is also in trouble.

“The United Nations and the American government will be in trouble. America, Lagos, and Nigeria will break unless the right things are done.

“Biafra is not a joke, it should be handled carefully. The people defecting to the APC will be disgraced from there. Some will leave APC and let us pray because not all governors will finish their terms,” the revered Nigerian preacher offered.

Primate Ayodele spoke about his upcoming birthday slated for Tuesday, February 14, explaining that he would be “sending people to Jerusalem, empowering women and give out free foods to as many people as can be at his church’s Isolo headquarters on Tuesday.

A US appeals court has upheld the suspension of President Donald Trump’s controversial travel ban.

The unanimous ruling, by a panel of three judges in San Francisco, will likely pave the way for a showdown in the Supreme Court.

However, the appeals court justices expressed doubt that Mr Trump’s government would be successful if it launched another appeal.

In off-camera remarks to reporters at the White House, the President insisted he was confident that his administration would eventually win the case “very easily”.

Mr Trump branded the decision as “political” – and moments after the ruling, he tweeted: “SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!”

Washington Governor Jay Inslee, who represents one of the states which took on the government, replied: “Mr President, we just saw you in court, and we beat you.”

The US Justice Department was more measured in its response than Mr Trump – and a spokeswoman said it was “considering its options”.

In their judgment, the appeals court said the US Justice Department had not offered “any evidence” of national security concerns which had justified banning migrants, visitors and refugees from seven Muslim-majority countries.

The judges concluded that the government had provided no evidence that any citizen from Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen and Syria had perpetrated an attack on American soil.

In addition, no evidence was offered which explained the urgent need for his executive order to take effect immediately.

Lawyers from Washington state and Minnesota – which mounted the legal challenge against Mr Trump – had offered compelling evidence that even a temporary reinstatement of the travel ban would cause harm, and raised serious allegations of religious discrimination. The ruling means migrants, visitors and refugees from the affected countries can continue to travel to the US if they have valid visas or green cards – something which Mr Trump had attempted to stop with his executive order.

In its arguments, the Justice Department had insisted that the President had the constitutional power to restrict entry to the US – and that the courts should not attempt to second-guess his determination that such measures were needed to prevent acts of domestic terrorism.

The judges said: “On the one hand, the public has a powerful interest in national security and in the ability of an elected president to enact policies. And on the other, the public also has an interest in free flow of travel, in avoiding separation of families, and in freedom from discrimination.”

Operatives of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) have been barred from erecting checkpoints at major streets in Kaduna and other urban centres by the State Government.

The banning of FRSC operatives was relayed in a statement issued on Wednesday through the Special Assistant to Governor Nasiru El-Rufai on Media and Publicity, Mr Samuel Aruwan.

According to the statement, the decision to impose the ban was taken by the state Security Council after a meeting in which it reviewed complaints from the general public against FRSC officials.

“The council acted following complaints that FRSC officials were acting in ways reminiscent of the VIO that was dissolved by the state government following widespread unease at their acts of disrespect for the public and penchant for extortion”, he said.

The statement by the government also stresses that the FRSC personnel have been barred “from indiscriminately stopping vehicles for inspection in Kaduna town, a situation which has been responsible for avoidable traffic congestion and accidents.”                           In furtherance of its directive, the government noted that henceforth, the FRSC officials should concentrate their activities “in ensuring safe travel on highways such as the Abuja-Kaduna expressway.”
