PoliticsRate President Muhammadu Buhari's Administration So Far by Emmatdayo(op):
the president has now spent one year in power,i believe within this period he has done averagely well
within the last one year,
Global Diplomacy
In one year, the President has successfully reset the relationship between this country and her immediate neighbors and with our lost friends, both far and near. The West, Far East and Middle-East countries as well as our neighbors who walked away from this country on account of the arrogance of our past leaders, corruption and the abuse of human rights have all come back to us.
Over the past one year in which the President travelled to many countries, he has succeeded in convincing the world that Nigeria is now under a responsible management with a government that is inviting of prospective investors. As a result of his travels, Nigeria’s image has improved and the country is occupying a preeminent place in the comity of nations.
President Buhari has indeed been a revelation to the world. In addition to improving the standing of the country, his personal integrity has given him the best ever international attention by any past President of this country.

fight corruption (still in progress):
nigeria is a country in which the VIPs steal an elephant and runs away while the poor steals a goat and goes to jail for up to 30 years.things are changing with impunity in the country,VIP suspects are now being asked questions by investigative agencies and are being charged to court

-put an end to budget padding

-recovering of looted funds abroad

-transparency and accountability in governance
: promise kept by the president is of a government that not only preached but also practiced transparency and accountability.the president and his vice made their assets as declared before they took office on may 29.
For the first time in the annals of our Executive-Legislative relations, this country had all ministers nominated screened and passed without any casualty. What is important is that not a single incident was reported involving exchange of money in bribery of parliamentarians. The President’s first budget, the 2016 appropriations bill was passed, even though after some delays, without the usual bribery allegations that attended the passage of budgets. The Senate and the House under their current leadership must themselves be proud of this happening at this time.
While still on the budget, the President must take credit for the exposure of a particular kind of fraud, the padding of budget, itself a known and ongoing practice until the whistle was blown by diligent ministers and parliamentarians. For once, the country has a budget, the 2016 appropriations bill that is rid of added billions ending up in the pockets of officials. By putting these changes in place, the government has established a model for transparency in public expenditure.

-implementing the treasury single account:
The President has been trying to right the many wrongs things he inherited, especially in terms of securing government revenues which leaked or were out rightly diverted to private accounts.
President Buhari didn't invent the TSA. What he did is to bring political will to bear on its implementation.
At the last count, the President said he had saved the country money in excess of three trillion Naira which would otherwise have been wasted or shared out to officials at the end of the financial year.
since implementing the TSA,buhari has saved nigeria the excess of 3 trillion naira which would otherwise have been wasted or shared out to officials at the end of the financial year.

Minimum Government
The President kept his promise to reduce superfluity in government administration by cutting down on the number of ministers, ministries and government departments. The delay in the coming of ministers was first to reduce the number of ministries, and then set a new set of ground rules to stop the theft of government resources through systemic leakages. Boards of directors will come only when the President is satisfied that agencies of government are brought in line with existing ministries structure and that a new foundation is laid, in all cases, to replace the rotten past that allowed a free-for-all when it came to dealing with public assets.

-fighting insecurity in the north
:The first priority of this government as repeatedly mentioned by the President, is security. "You must secure the country before you can manage it well”, is a classic statement the President has continued to repeat. Where we stand on this today is best captured by the country’s Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami in saying that “the capacity of Boko Haram to hold territory has totally been decimated. Our focus now is on dealing with the remnants of their forces and re-focusing on the unfortunate humanitarian challenge caused by their activities.” This was achieved following the change in the leadership of the armed forces, the movement of the command and control centre to Maiduguri and realization of how much can be achieved with greater international cooperation. In this respect, the coming together of Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, Chad and Benin in the Muti-National Joint Task Force under a centralized command had been helpful in forging a common, regional response to the Boko Haran threat.

-fuel importation liberalization
The fuel subsidy issue is a well-known cause of trouble in this country. Every government in the past that tried to remove it got tested in its political will and dropped it like a hot metal. There is nothing in this country that is as politically unpopular.
Yet, even those who vocally supported it knew that it wasn't working for the ordinary citizens. The secret service surveyed the price regime of N86 per liter and reported to government five months ago that the price prevailed only in Lagos and Abuja with the rest of the country paying higher. Petrol subsidies served as a scam to line the pockets of officials and cronies in business.
Acting in the best national interest, the President took the very brave action of liberalizing the import of PMS products by first removing subsidy from the budget and then opening the door for marketers to bring the products to sell at a profit, saving the country trillions of naira in fraudulent subsidy payments.
Due mainly to the trust they reposed in him, Nigerians have accepted this change in the belief that the president means for them.

Major Infrasture Products/Diversification
The President’s campaign for the diversification of the economy, away from over-dependence on oil is already setting the tone for the transformation of the economy into an agaric and industrial one.
The President has equally fared well in his efforts to attract investment into Nigeria following his trips to some of those countries. Discussions are ongoing with a number of them with rich foreign reserves that have indicated a willingness to pour foreign capital to develop the economy and create jobs here. From the sometimes zero capital allocation of the past, his budget this year has 30% of its content devoted to capital projects. After many years of delay, there will be a serious attempt to improve roads and rail transport as well as power projects. His administration is determined to improve the country's infrastructure landscape in a short period of time.

so for me i would give him 50/100 (pass mark)

yes the economy is not doing well, inflation at its highest rate since 2010 but all the problems of Nigeria can not be turned around within a year, not with crude oil below $50pb. i believe within the next two years we will start smiling

God bless the federal republic of nigeria

PoliticsEvidence Tendered Against Saraki Was Incomplete - Witness by Emmatdayo(op): 10:26am On May 27, 2016
– Michael Wetkas, a witness at the Senate president Bukola Saraki’s trial made a revelation at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT)

– Wetkas said Saraki did not declare a property he bought in 1993

Michael Wetkas, a detective of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Wednesday, May 25, admitted that some of the evidences he tendered before the tribunal against Senate president Bukola Saraki were incomplete.

Saraki is currently facing a 16- count charge of false asset declaration while he was the Governor of Kwara State.

Wetkas alleged that Saraki did not declare a property he bought in 1993 during his assets declaration of 2003.

“Saraki on 16 September 2003, did not declare a property he purchased in Maitama, Abuja in 1993,” he said.

He alleged that Saraki acquired the property through his company, Carlyed Properties Limited.

When asked by Paul Usoro, Saraki’s lawyer, to verify exhibit 20, a letter by the EFCC asking the Abuja Geographical Information System, (AGIS), requesting for information on the property Saraki did not declare, which he tendered before the tribunal, Wetkas admitted that the commission tendered an incomplete evidence.

Wetkas said “I believe that in the course of administrative work and numbering some parts went missing.”

Usoro, further established that Saraki, in an attempt to ensure transparency in his transactions, gave the power of attorney, meaning – the authority to act for another person in a specified or all legal or financial matters – to both Akao and Allied Properties.

Wetkas, in his testimony, also stated that according to exhibit 125 and 126, the original Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) and all other supporting documents of the Maitama property in question, were in the name of David Baba Akao.

On further cross-examination, Wetkas further accepted that Allied Properties, a company that was registered on 15th March 1992, also received another C of O, from Nasir El Rufai, former FCT Minister, in its name.

This made the federal government charge against Saraki, devoid of merit.

Saraki has been charged with 13 counts of false declarations of assets while he was the governor of Kwara state.

He has been undergoing trial since September 22, 2015.

PoliticsMay 29 Till Date: Buhari Travelled 29 Times So Far by Emmatdayo(op): 4:38pm On May 26, 2016

PoliticsNnamdi Kanu Must Die In Detention To Save Nigeria From Splitting by Emmatdayo(op): 4:28pm On May 26, 2016
When news broke on Thursday, May 26, that the Court of Appeal in Abuja had denied a bail application by Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), all hell seemed to have broke loose.

In a unanimous judgment on Wednesday, May 25, a three-man panel of justices of the appellate court led by Justice Abdul Aboki, affirmed the decision of the Federal High Court to deny Kanu’s bail applicatio

IPOB

Nnamdi Kanu is facing treason charges, alongside two others, Benjamin Madubgwu and James Nwawuisi. The IPOB leader was denied bail by the Appeal Court of Nigeria

Nigerians and pro-Biafrans took to socio media to share their support and displeasure over the decision. Below are some Nigerians’s thoughts on the controversial issue which threatens to destabilize the nation.

Debekeme Egberi said: “I don’t expect any Nigeria court to rule in Favour of Biafra, beside Buhari even stated it clear lythat he will not allow court to release Kanu! But you know what? Buhari is killing sinking Nigeria gradually but some Nigerians are blind to see the future, any Buhari’s move is in the Favour of Biafra, Nelson Mandela went to prison came out with victory and shame his enemies, and today where are the Nelson Mandela enemies? Martin Luther King went and came out victorious, all freedom fighters always come out with victory it will only take time, and then shame will be for Nigeria! And beside this Guy Nnamdi Kanu is a pure prophet which even the Nigerians have seen the prove and evidence but out of shame they’ve all blocked their eyes and ears.

Kelechi Amukamara was of the opinion that Nnamdi has finished Buhari’s government with his wisdom, “even if he dies today, Nigeria won’t recover from the mess Nnamdi Kanu put them in 10 yrs,” Kelechi noted.

In Simon Nwokeogu’s opinion, Nnamdi could never have been granted bail by the Appeal Court, “When Buhari had already decided to deal with him? Nnamdi can’ t get justice in Nigeria, this is obvious,” Simon opined.

“Can someone tell me what this young man has done? Is it that he is fighting for his right?

Nigeria is an agreement of many Nations, and if one feels that he no more comfortable with the treatment or the way things are going, he has the right to opt out.

“It is an ignorant thing to think that kanu is fighting against the Nigerian state, it is not by force a marriage is conducted, for those whom this marriage favours will not want it to end, but remember that evil can triumph just for a while, it doesn’t last forever.

“Nnamdi Kanu’s war is a war without an end, what he is fighting for is a spiritual movement that cannot be fought in the physical, it seems that our constitution have been suspended because the present government does not obey court order again.

“The country is being ruled with coercion, for how long shall we be seating like this?,” queried Jah Son.

On the other hand, Raphael Mohammed said: “The war we are fighting is social media war as a matter of fact Biafra agitation is dead for long. If u ask a typical Igbo man that have tangible investments about this agitation, 99.9% of them will tell you Na’a Mbanu we are not ceding from Nigeria.”

Lending his voice to Raphael’s voice, Annur Umar Sadiq said: “On behalf of good people of Nigeria, we are here to sacrifice the life of Nnamdi Kanu to Remain in Prison till death, For the benefit of over 170m Nigerians to live in peace.

Bello Garba did not hide his delight. “Am in support of the appeal court, Nnamdi Kanu is a nuisance, a traitor that wants to destroy his father land with a false movement of creating Biafra that all saint and responsible people amongst them are not in support. His major crime is breach of trust to his country, he should be given life imprisonment as for me,” Bello stressed.

Muhammad M Adam asked Nigerians to stop deceiving themselves. He said: “You guys should stop deceiving yourselves, kanu is dying in prison. Nigeria is one and we cannot afford to divide our country over one minor ethnic and parasite group. what Kanu did is a treasonable felony which attracts death penalty according to the law!”

MD Martins said: “Let Kanu Nnamdi receive good zoo treatment, when he came to USA, the real Igbos in USA advised him not to go on what he cannot end….well let the movie continue…..I know some gullible lazy Igbos ones will raise abusive word on me…I am expecting it…because we will charges Kanu Nnamdi to court for the death of the innocent Igbos one in protect in Southeast….we are still washing…”

Meanwhile, just as photographs of a Biafran representative spotted at a United Nations conference in the United States made their way into the media, the embattled Nnamdi Kanu, has insinuated that the Biafran territory is recognised in 30 countries of the world.

It is believed that such international recognition is necessary for the independence of the area currently located in the south-eastern part of Nigeria even though IPOB believes the region being sought for also covers the south-southern part of the country.

Kanu, according to Breaking Times, is asking the Community Court of Justice of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to force the Nigerian government to pay him $800 million as compensation for the gross violation of his human rights.

Kanu had been in detention since October 14, 2015 and all efforts to get him to enjoy bail have been rebuffed by the government.
