Buying from street hawkers prohibited in Kaduna state – A new injunction has been enacted in Kaduna state – The law prohibits residents from patronizing street hawkers – Those who flout the law are liable to be sentenced to jail It has become a crime to patronize a street hawker in Kaduna state, says the government, after the enactment of a law which makes it a criminal offence for both the hawker and buyers in the state. Vanguard reports that the disclosure was made by spokesman of Kaduna state House of Assembly, Nuhu Goro Shadalafiya. Speaking to newsmen on Tuesday, May 24, Shadalafiya said, Governor Nasir El-Rufai should be credited for the new act passed last month. The member who also spoke against the allegation that the 34-member KDHA have been compromised with new exotic cars, said that the cars were for the official works of the 34 Chairmen of the 34 committees of the House as every member of the House chairs a committee. On the anti-hawking law, he said: “We have also pass a bill into law to checkmate hawkers who deprive people from owning shops.” Governor El-Rufai has been in the eye of the storm recently, following the push for the passage of certain bills into law in Kaduna state. A move to enact a controversial religious bill, set the governor against some clerics who did not spare anything as they attacked him verbally in the media.https://www.naij.com/ |
The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday, May 24, during its plenary session, debated on the Sexual Harassment Bill which if passed, will criminalize all acts of sexual harassment among students in Nigeria. The bill in contention is titled “a bill for an act to make provision for the prohibition of sexual harassment of students by educators in tertiary educational institutions and for other related matters, 2016.” Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial district, speaking during the plenary, said that sexual harassment is becoming alarming in tertiary institutions and that women should be caution not to sexually harass men as not all men have the “anointing” to resist such acts. “#SexualHarassmentBill is both sided, females should also be cautioned ’cause not all of us have the anointing to resist.” ~Sen @dino_melaye — Nigerian Senate (@NGRSenate) May 24, 2016 The controversial senator, has been said to be supposedly not saying the ‘truth’ about his real age. According to his National Assembly (NASS) profile, Dino Melaye is 42-years-old, and judging from his educational profile, the senator sat for WAEC while still in primary school, around the time he was 12-years-old. https://www.naij.com/839945-dino-melaye-fire-scandalous-statement-sexual-harassment.html |

Report has it that the PDP spokesman vomitted several times in his car on his way to the Federal High Court, Abuja on Thursday, May 19. A source said: “Metuh was rushed to hospital last night. It is serious. He is managing high blood pressure, diabetes and arthritis. The doctor asked him to stay at hospital, but he refused because he wanted to appear in court today. He is just stubborn. He does not want his health to get in the way of his trial. “This morning he vomited in his car on our way to the court. It is sad. I cannot say all that he is going through, but it is bad. His health is deteriorating.” Recall that in April, he had slumped during the commissioning of the caretaker committee of the PDP Yobe and Borno states chapter. He was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the National Hospital. Metuh is currently standing trial for allegedly destroying Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) evidence against him. https://www.naij.com/834901-breaking-pdp-spokesperson-metuh-rushed-back-national-hospital.html?source=breaking

Two barbers who alleged stabbed one Sunday Adufe in the eye with a screwdriver were on Wednesday granted N250, 000 bail each by an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos. The accused, Tanko Wasiu and Buhariyu Sulaimon, were also granted two sureties each in like sum as part of their bail conditions by the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Omolade Awope. She said the sureties must show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government. Wasiu, 33 and Sulaimon, 22, both residents of No. 19, Calvary close, Obawole, Iju in Lagos State, are facing four-count charge bordering on breach of peace and assault. The Prosecutor, Insp. Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that the accused with some others still at large committed the offences on April 26 at Obawole Community, Iju-Ishaga, Lagos. He said the accused assaulted Adufe by stabbing his eye and beating him with sticks and cable wires “Adufe said the trouble started when he went to Wasiu’s wife to ask for the money she borrowed from him in March. “The accused, then armed themselves with dangerous weapons, took Adufe to a carnal near their residence and accused him of having an affair with Wasiu’s wife before beating him,’’ he said. Ayorinde said the offence contravened Sections 166, 170, 171 and 244 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. Section 171 prescribes three-year jail term for offenders. The accused, however, pleaded innocence of the offences. Awope adjourned the case to June 3 for mention. Read more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/barbers-stab-nieghbour-eye-screwdriver/ |

– The PDP urged Nigerians to support the Nigerian army in its quest to decimate Boko Haram – It commended the army on the rescue of one of the Chibok girls – The Party accused the APC of playing politics with the security of Nigerians The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the rescue of Amina Ali, one of the abducted Chibok girls by the Nigerian army. Amina was rescued in the Sambisa Forest, close to the border with Cameroon on Tuesday, May 18 alongside her Boko Haram husband. The PDP congratulated the Nigerian army for a good job but criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) for playing politics with the security of Nigerians. The PDP via its social media said the APC claimed there was no weapon and that the infamous Dasukigate saga rendered the army powerless. It said the clearance of Sambisa by the army and the rescue of the Chibok girl showed that the army is well equipped as against the claim by the APC government that the army was ill equipped due to the misappropriation of fund meant for the purchase of arms. We are excited by the news of the rescue of one of the Chibok Girls. Kudos to our troops. #VictoryForNigeria — PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 18, 2016 We wish to once again commend our ever gallant troops for the rescue of one of the abducted Chibok Girls. pic.twitter.com/8ufAqGk1M1 — PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016 As a party, we have always believed in the capacity of the Nigerian Army to defeat these terrorists & have always supported our troops. — PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016 We have never played politics with national security and will never do so. We wish our troops more success & urge them to crush Boko Haram. — PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016 We are proud of our gallant troops. We are with you and will continue to support you as you dislodge Boko Haram from Sambisa forest. — PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016 We are proud of our gallant troops. We are with you and will continue to support you as you dislodge Boko Haram from Sambisa forest. — PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016 We urge every Nigerian to support our troops. — PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016 We are excited that we have been vindicated by the activities of the Nigerian military in the last one year. #DasukiGate — PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016 Now we ask, didn’t they say the last administration did not buy arms for the military? With which arms did the army rescue Amina? #DasukiGate — PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016 For the past one year, Nigerians no longer hear propaganda that our troops are running out of ammunition to fight Boko Haram. #DasukiGate — PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016 The opposition must never de-market our nation in the eyes of the world. It also must not ridicule Nigerians in its quest for power. — PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016 The lies & propaganda of the then opposition @APCNigeria made nations to stop selling arms to Nigeria. The image of our nation was affected. — PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016 We had to approach black market to buy arms for the Nigerian military. — PDP Nigeria (@PdpNigeria) May 19, 2016 https://www.naij.com/834721-pdp-reacts-rescue-chibok-girl-blasts-apc.html |
