What is a Cryptocurrency Wallet?

We use conventional wallets for storing money. And in some cases, they double as a cardholder.

A cryptocurrency wallet is similar, but in this case, it stores digital money.

And to store your digital assets securely, certain features need to be in place. Unfortunately, not all wallets are secure.

We have two broad categories of wallets: Full Node and SPV Wallets.

SPV Wallet is further divided into Hot Wallet and Cold Wallets.

Cold Wallets are more secure since they offline.
In contrast, Hot Wallets are not as secure and are less expensive than Cold Wallets.
This is due to their online nature which makes them susceptible to remote attacks.

Why do You Need A Cryptocurrency Wallet?

Security!

Let me explain:
Storing your digital currencies on an exchange platform exposes your assets to risks.

If the exchange gets hacked, you lose everything!

Since an exchange operates via an online structure, they run a risk of getting hacked.

We've had a lot of hacks in the crypto world:
Most recently, was the Italian cryptocurrency firm, Altsbit, which occurred in February 2020.

Altsbit lost over $70,000 worth of cryptocurrency. A lot of traders lost huge sums due to this attack.

What's my point?

In as much it is convenient to trade on exchanges, it is not a good option for holding cryptocurrencies.
It is much safer to trade in chunks from your wallet, instead of risking it all on exchanges.

You should never store your digital assets on an exchange!

Now we've gotten that out of the way, what are the best cryptocurrency wallet apps in Nigeria?

1. Blockchain Wallet

2. Luno Wallet

3. Coinbase Wallet

4. Trust Wallet

5. Buycoins Wallet

6. Quidax Wallet

7. Remitano Wallet

8. Paxful Wallet

9. Busha Wallet

10. Patricia Wallet

Phones / Android 11 And Ios 14 Comparison by Emmaway(m): 6:43pm On Jul 09, 2020
Okay guys, the two most popular mobile operating systems head-to-head.

Since they aren’t official out, there would be no victories or losses in our iOS 14 vs Android 11 face-off.

This is more like a friendly match. Where we see what both have to offer.

Later this year, we will see the launch of both operating systems. Before then, what should we expect from Google or Apple?

Let’s find out.

✓iOS 14 vs Android 11: Widgets
Widgets have been around both OS for some time now. But how widgets get to work is different on both.

Widgets, before now, could be accessed by swiping left on the home screen. Starting with iOS 14, users can now place widgets on the home screen along with other apps.

Since this is the first implementation, it’s not as flexible as some users will prefer: you cannot place them anywhere you like; you have to fill up the top section before moving to other areas.

According to Apple, you can resize home screen widgets. That’s not entirely true as most widgets take up the horizontal space. They could be resized, but only with surrounding apps or widgets.

On Android phones, however, you can scale widgets to any reasonable size, and could be placed anywhere on the home screen as well. As far as customizing widgets go, Android gives you a lot of options and lots of supported apps.

But they both function basically in the same way: giving you information at a glance, without having to open the app to view important updates.

Android takes this a bit further by allowing you to interact with parts of an app without opening the app. In most music players, for instance, you can listen to your playlist without opening the app.

While this is a cool feature to have, it takes a toll on your phone’s battery; the app with widget support keeps running in the background.

On iOS 14, however, the implementation is more battery efficient. You get information at a glance, but to interact with it, you have to open the app.

✓iOS 14 vs Android 11: App Library vs. App Drawer

The app drawer or library is a way to keep your home screen tidy. Just as you keep your room tidy by placing your shoes on the rack and clothes in the wardrobe.

The App Library will make its debut on iOS 14. Apps were scattered all over the place on older versions of iOS.

Swiping right of the home screen on any iOS-14-powered iPhone will take you to the app library. Here, all apps are automatically organized into different folders. This makes things a lot easier for users, but the geeks would probably look elsewhere.

On the flip side, Android 11 gives you lots of features. There are a ton of launchers that makes it easier to organize your applications. You can choose whichever suits your taste in terms of customization.

Finally, there’s the new “Suggested Apps” feature on both OS. This consists of a list of four apps you use the most.

Both are pretty smart in suggesting apps; Android 11 especially suggests apps that you use according to the time of the day.

If you use the Gmail app to reply to emails during the early hours of the day, the AI after some days will start suggesting it as one of the four apps during the morning hours. For now, this will only be on the default launcher.

✓iOS 14 vs Android 11: Messaging
The exclusive iMessage app will be seeing a lot of new features. The popular messaging application from Apple now allows you to pin conversations to the top.

Going forward, users can now mention contacts and do inline replies within chats. This may serve as a direct message in group conversations. These features will be especially useful for people who find themselves in many groups.

Although Android doesn’t have its default messaging app, most of the new features on iOS 14’s iMessage is present on apps like WhatsApp.

What’s new? Chat bubbles! All messaging apps starting from the latest Android OS will support chat bubbles. This is a nice feature to have especially for multitasking.

✓Apple Siri vs. Google Assistant
The virtual assistant has grown from being just a basic function to an AI that integrates with every facet of our lives. Siri will now have a new design overhaul which should make it stand strong against its rival.

Voicing out the command will trigger a little animation that indicates Siri is listening; you can ask questions, give commands, or get directions while still in another app. This is better than what we had before, where calling upon Siri will take you out of your current app.

Apple also says its digital assistant is much smarter and gives much more correct answers, unlike the vague responses we had in the past.

On the flip side, there isn’t much to expect from the Assistant this year; just some bug fixes and minor improvements here and there.

The Google Assistant has grown over the years is one of the best virtual assistants you can get on mobile phones, so we do not expect much from Google this year other than a few under-the-hood improvements.

A thing that keeps the Google Assistant high above the pecking order is its integration with Google search engine. It is more accurate and by far the best Assistant you can get on a smartphone.

✓iOS 14 vs Android 11: Notifications
This year’s update will see a few nifty features added to the already good notification system.

Taking a look at Android 11, notifications are now grouped into three categories.

Conversations: These are notifications from messaging, email, and social media apps. They have a higher level of importance, hence, you’ll see them at the top.

Alerting: These are relevant notifications that need attention, but this time, from non-email and messaging apps. They include alerts from games and all other applications.

Celebrities / Burna Boy And A Host Of Others Shine At BET 2020: Here's The Full List by Emmaway(m): 3:30pm On Jun 30, 2020
Every year, celebrities from around the world come together for the BET Awards. This year was no exception, as the show was streamed live by millions around the world. This isn’t always the case before now as the award ceremony was broadcasted on the BET channel, but due to health concerns, we had to settle for an online show.

Notwithstanding, it was fun, although we couldn’t see those wonderful performances we are used to. This year’s show which was hosted by Amanda Seales, saw entertainers from all works of life going home with their award(s). Back home, Nigerians were not left out of the party as the likes of Burna Boy, Wizkid, Rema and a host of others did bring home some goodies.

Phones / Apple Users: Here's The Ios 14 by Emmaway(m): 12:23pm On Jun 30, 2020
Every year, developers and tech enthusiasts from around the world, gather for Apple’s WWDC, which is an event that tends to showcase the company’s latest software products and updates to its existing products. This year was quite different as the event was streamed-live due to obvious reasons.

Notwithstanding, Apple revealed another set of software products for some of its devices, and a little bit of hardware (Apple Silicon) announcement was made.

Of the many products introduced, iOS 14 had the major talking points as we see a new breath of life that would change the way we use the novel iPhones . The latest iOS should make it easier to get certain things done on our phones than before.

Although it is still in the beta stages, we should be getting a stable release when the iPhone 12 launches later this year.

But for now, let’s see what’s in the all-new iOS 14.

1. Homescreen Widgets
Widgets, which has been a feature on Apple’s watchOS, has now been brought over to the iOS 14. The tech giants are looking to improve on the widget present on watchOS with more functionalities flexibility.

On your home screen, you get to customize widgets for different sizes, this should make the home screen look more interesting and give room for easier navigation between apps.
We are still left in the dark about two things: firstly, the size of the grids — minimum and maximum, and also, apps that could get widgets. However, it’s more likely that first-party apps like Weather, Apple New, iTunes, and similar apps, should be getting widgets.

2. App Library
Another change we get to see on the home screen is the new App Library — which can be found by swiping to the right of the home screen. iOS 14 App Library will now let you organize all apps on your home screen, instead of swiping through numerous screens to get to an app.

The App Library gives you a clutter-free home screen — as your apps are grouped accordingly, this is done automatically, though. Social apps like
Facebook and Twitter get to be in the same folder, while browsers like Safari and Chrome are grouped into a separate folder.

Additionally, you can search for any app by swiping down anywhere on the home screen, or by using the search bar. Opening the search bar gives you a list of all your apps, and you can choose how you want them to be sorted. You also have the ability to hide home screens, add or delete home screen pages, on the App Library.

3. App Clips
Want to quickly use a service but don’t have the required app to do so? Well, you don’t need to download a full app as the App Clip feature lets you use certain parts of an app without having the full-fledged app.

This tiny part of an app could come in handy when paying for a service, purchasing coffee, or performing an action on an app. This feature can be accessed by cards that pop up at the bottom of your screen. Also, scanning on a QR Code, or NFC tag could initiate the service as well.

4. iOS 14: Compact UI - Incoming Call Notification
Before this time, getting a call on your iPhone or iPad will automatically draw over your current working screen. That is about to change now, as the latest update from Apple now shows you the caller ID at the top of your screen.

This should work perfectly fine, right now, on the native Phone and FaceTime apps. Other messaging apps like WhatsApp and Messenger should also be able to do this or provide an update to enable it.

With this, you won’t get disrupted in the middle of replying quickly to a conversation, you can choose to answer the call, reject it, or swipe it away to keep it ringing in the background.

iOS 14 Compact UI: Picture-in-Picture
Still, on Compact UI, we now have a system-wide Picture-in-Picture for better multitasking.
This update lets you watch videos while reading an article on your browser, replying to a chat, or doing other things on your iPhone.

It’s flexible: you can play with the size. You can toggle the width, move the video around; up or down, left or right, to any corner of your screen.
It works for now with the native video player. Hopefully, apps like YouTube will release an update to enable this on the iOS as it does on Android.

Business / Making Money On Fiverr - Step By Step Guide by Emmaway(m): 12:33pm On Jun 21, 2020
Have you ever wished to make money on Fiverr in Nigeria but, still don’t know how to start making the dream come to reality? Or maybe you’ve been running a Nigerian Fiverr account for years and you’re yet to make a substantial income, if this is you, It’s my pleasure to share
some working tips with you today.

Note that before you are able to earn money on Fiverr in Nigeria, you must be a “Freelancer”, because Fiverr is all about freelancing and getting projects done. If you would like to be a successful freelancer, check this guide on how to build a successful freelancing brand.

What is Fiverr?
Fiverr is an online marketplace for freelancers to showcase and sell their services or skills for money. The name is gotten from “Five” because when Fiverr started, services were sold for as low as $5 but that’s not the case now as you can sell a service up to $20,000 or more (depending on the project and agreement between you and your client).

There are hundreds of freelancing platforms in the world but Fiverr stands to be the best in Nigeria. It’s kind of difficult to get an approved Upwork account in Nigeria but Fiverr makes it easy for everybody across the world to use their platform.
Here are a few reasons why I said Fiverr is the
best freelancing platforms in Nigeria so far;

Business / Top Referral Apps To Make Money by Emmaway(m): 4:02pm On Jun 20, 2020
Do you know there are some referral apps to make money in Nigeria? Yes, they are and I’m going to show you a few of those apps that I recommend for people who’re thinking of
making money online without a capital.
If you’ve been looking for a way to earn extra cash, make some money online while using your smartphone, or you’re just looking to have multiple streams of income, then you will need to stick around to see how you could make some money with the referral apps I’ll be sharing with you right here.

Pros and Cons of Referral Apps to Make Money in Nigeria

1. The amount is usually small
This is the reality you have to face when using these services or mobile apps which ask you to refer and earn. The amount you get per referral isn’t that big enough, but it could be enough to recharge your phone and buy a data plan.
With this in mind, many people get discouraged and never make any effort. But the truth is: you can make a lot of money from referral apps in Nigeria.

2. Your earning potential is unlimited
Maybe you don’t know this, but hey, it’s the truth! The key to making much or less cash is dependent on you; how many people can you get to begin using the service, the more people that use your link or code, meet the necessary requirements, then the more you can earn.
There are lots of smart ways to do this; make use of your social handles, your instant messaging apps, your blog, or website, whichever you have.

3. You don’t need a skill
The apps I’ll be sharing with you today are quite useful in different aspects besides the referral benefits. As useful as they are, they don’t require any form of skill; if you can make use of a smartphone, then these apps will come in handy.
Generating a referral link or code is quite easy; some even generate these for you.

Since this is in the Education category I'll assume this is for academic purpose...

I'll say a laptop.

1. There are lots of things you can do with a "good" laptop. Although smartphones tends to do some of these things, the laptop certainly do most of them better.

2. Less distracting
We all know how distracting the smartphones could get, a little beep and we check our screens... because it's pretty easy to do. With a laptop, you're less distracted because it you don't get the same level of "instant gratification" you get on your smartphone

3. Laptop is better

4. You can learn much better

5. You can learn other digital skills which is a necessary accessory in today's world. IYKYK!
