Yes DUNS is free for certain countries like USA, Canada etc... but for Nigerian businesses, no way.

Never had an issue.

Delays yes but no more than 3 weeks of which one was my fault

And you're very correct, the UI/UX is a major issue and this should come with a warning cos tech companies are joking with a potential law suit. If you don't tell your customers that all their upper body is being captured and the app makes it appear like only their face is captured, you're joking with a law suit...

Have not even thought of the legal consequences. As I assume since they took the pictures themselves and should be responsible enough to dress well for it

Let’s talk about something serious but funny at the same time.
If you’ve ever tried to do KYC on an app, you know the process. They ask you to snap your face, there’s a round circle on the screen, your face fits nicely inside, everywhere else looks white or black, and boom, you snap.
Simple abi?
Well… not exactly.

I work around fintech products, and recently a colleague opened my eyes to something that is both shocking and hilarious.

Some users are taking their KYC selfies completely naked.
Yes. Naked.
Breasts out. No top. No cover. No fear of God 😭

And the funniest part? Most of them genuinely believe only their face is being sent.
Where the confusion is coming from

That round face circle has deceived a lot of people.

Because:
Your face is inside a neat circle
The rest of the screen looks blank or dark
There’s no strong warning explaining what’s captured

So people assume:

“Na only my face dem dey see”

Wrong.
The app captures the full image, not just your face.
So while you’re snapping “only face”, the backend is receiving:

Face, Chest, Background and Everything else God put there
And yes, real humans sometimes have to review these images.

Advice to users (please read this well)
If you’re about to do KYC on any app:

Wear clothes. Simple.
Assume everything your camera sees is captured
Only show your face and shoulders

Now, to the app designers and product people
This problem is also a UI and UX issue, not just user behaviour.

Here are simple ways apps can fix this:

1. Clear warning before camera opens
Before opening the selfie camera, show a full screen message like: “Your entire image will be captured and reviewed. Please wear appropriate clothing.”

Force users to tap “Continue”.

2. Blur, don’t hide, the background

Instead of black or white outside the face circle:
Show a blurred live preview of the full camera frame This tells users visually that everything exists, it’s just blurred.

3. Strong text on the camera screen
Add visible text: “Full image is captured. Do not upload nude or inappropriate photos.”

Not small helper text. Make it loud.

Most people are not wicked. They’re just confused.
Again please, if you’re doing KYC: Wear cloth.

In the interest of shining a spotlight on the coding talents on Nairaland, we are conducting a series of challenges.

The first one is a 3D Ludo Game challenge. This requires you to use AI to help you create an enjoyable Ludo game in a single html file using three.js via CDN to display the game in 3D. The Ludo rules are up to you to decide but must be made clear to the users.
