Education / Re: Reactions As Hilarious Questions Found In Unilag Engineering Test by emmy512: 11:59am On Feb 18
That maths error is simply an issue with the software they use.

Or the browser unable to display or render the answer properly which I believe is a result of the brave browser being used.

The same way brave works against ads when the shield is up, it may likely affect the rendering.
( This is why in more advanced tests and online examinations, the test is opened in a newnwindow that's not affected by browser extensions)

Sometimes having special characters in a string causes issues so whoever handled that didn't do his job properly or have technical know how to do that.

Romance / Re: What Do You Think About This Brand New Nairaland Logo by emmy512: 1:12pm On Feb 17
Honesty is what you need right now to help you.

That's trash.

If asked how did you come up with the logo what will you say.

I'm pretty sure it's drag and drop or Photoshop mixing one image with text.

I doubt you used illustrator of any drawing to get that.

Look at that N very basic. Wasn't even made custom. You just picked a font and typed N.

There's a lot to logo design, with my years of experience in graphics design I never accept logo jobs cos not all designers are logo designers.

It looks like all this saloon and online beauty shops that just slap gold and florals to a letter.

Go and study logo design properly and trust me you'll be ashamed of this and want to do better.

Look at another person's logo with same florals you used.

Your logo isn't even unique, your logo shouldn't cause copyright issues for a client.

That doesn't mean they should say they have no information. They had. It was better to say they'll put out a statement in due time. We know they trying to be careful and professional. Not that they have no information.

True, but remember that social media is handled by someone who is not qualified to give a solid response for access so the person just had to turn round until he got what to say

The same people saying they have no information only a few hours ago. Believe them at your own risk. They had all the information they needed. They just didn't have the one they were ready to share
Their response has to be crafted by a lawyer on behalf of the company and in extension the bank.

They can’t just talk anyhow.

I once attended a church years ago looking for miracle, only for the yoppie pulpit Bandits to tell us to buy canes(pankere) and all those small children balls and instructed us to keep flogging the balls for our miracles.

That our miracles will come if we by any chance succeeded in deflating the well pumped up balls with our canes.

Another time we were told to lock our room and use the cane (pankere)to flog invisible air...e go get where you go floor air reach...eyes go begin turn you upandan.

Churches should step up by caring for their members,so many persons are going thru alot.

Nairaland is a 2 billion naira worth at the minimum of venture if seun decide to take it seriously

Seun still runs this as a side of side project from his "cubicle" in sango-ota .

Knowing Seun to be an introvert who doesn't like the spot light or want to be popular just as myself, if I were him

I will

Run Nairaland as a business' by

1. Opening a physical office space in Lagos, Abuja, Sango-ota as HQ

2. Employ a CEO to run it while I continue to serve as founder and CTO

3. Employ a full team of enginneers, UX front end designers, marketers

Manage

1. Front page should be very current with update as it happens, ( I see a news/even on instablog and see it days after on the frontpage), alot of people only visit the front page, so it must be regularly updated and of high quality

2. limit posting to some section for new accounts, like have some way you rank accounts, new account should have a 3 month sandbox restriction.

3. make it impossible to register multiple account from thesame device,

4. Use text verification and real email ( no temp mails) for registration

5. Moderation : Each section should have atleast 2 mod and very active section 3 with 1 supermod.

6. Tribalism and hate speech should attract ban, device ban, email ban if possible an IP ban after two warnings

Buid

Implement new feature,

One of the allure of Nairaland is it simplistic UI and fast loading time

That doesn't need to change but it can be better,

1. Add Night mode, this will switch the background to black which is easy on the eyes at night, users can toggle on off

2. Add a bit of self moderation by adding a dislike button (when a comment has so many disikes, a moderator manually access if it should be hidden, users can still view the comment if clicked

3. An email system should be designed, communication stays on nairaland instead of third part email (all nairaland user get a user@nairaland.com email after 6 months of active usage provided the haven't been banned more than thrice,.

4. Build a robust ad management system, from creation, funding , moderation,

5.make it easy to share, the share button can be linked to whatsapp, fb, tiktok, IG, so when someone click on share they can also share outside the platform
a short url like naira.land will also make sharing easy

6. native ios/app with great push feature

mabe more later if I think of more

you've said it all

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Japa: Background Check Requirements by emmy512: 9:22am On Dec 29, 2023
jobbitto:
Hi family,

I hope we all are having a great time this festive season.

Quite a while, I have been looking for job outside Nigeria, care work to be precise. Since this is one of the easiest route to leave Nigeria. A friend in the uk gave me a Link, an agency to be precise that would help in the process. Although, he has not used them before.

When I contacted the agency via mail. They told me their terms and conditions, I accepted and proceeded with them to help get a care job. I paid in about 499 pounds as consultation and processing fee. After a month, an interview was conducted and I scaled through.

The agency now said they are going to conduct a background check on me of which I am to provide some documents. Below is the list of documents

Proof of employment letters
Payslips
Discharge / Resignation letters with the cause of leaving the employment clearly stated
Academic Qualifications
Recommendation Letters
4 References
CV

The entire set of documents mentioned above must be submitted for each of the following employers. If some of the documents are missing or unavailable, They could provide a self-declaration letter confirming the reasons for such missing documents

ALL THE EMPLOYERS IN THE LAST 10 YEARS

If there is any employment gap in between or from the completion of their education, They will need to write a letter of explanation of the same

All the documents to be put in a zip file with a separate folder for each employer

Once the screening is successful, The client would receive an employment contract to sign followed by the COS within 3 working days.

House my question now, is getting this documents visible? Or they are 419.
Please mod help me push to front page. I need help.

I personally don't see anything wrong with their request to classify them as 419

They've already collected processing fee from you so what else.

Moreover bg checks are necessary

Sell phone and get accommodation somewhere, like under the bridge abi where

Because if you are not smoking one of buharis sick cows dung how much is the phone worth that he will sell and get accommodation somewhere and start a new life, some of you are funny

See make I no lie you, school no be scam, it was the type of friends I made in school that plugged me to money making ventures, not necessarily my certificate, so if you are in this man’s shoe and you don’t have a single friend you can cry on to for help and support then you are terrible on your own

Goin to school is not just to go and get degrees, you socialize and build connections, I was lucky I got a job few months after I graduated from school even before I served, because one of my friends saw job somewhere and he recommended me, friend I met in school

Exactly! My 2nd semester year 2 just after IT my colleague linked me to an IT company and that's how I started life, I left by my year 4 and before I left I recommended 2 of my colleagues that were now proficient at node js and flutter.

Everything education in Nigeria should also involve connections. Networking with people etc.

But most make it about books alone and when they're done they have nothing to fall to

this search history is how I screen babes actually.

Met one at marina calabar around 2014 when I was still there, her whatspp, photos, videos were all locked and I went straight to history and all I could see was Xvid streaming history.

I met one that I immediately classified as dumb cos why the hell would you ask Google if you can get pregnant from a Mouth Gig.

Apparently a guy asked for bj and she had to confirm first.

This is a great topic and I'll write a topic similar to this that involves your PC and your browser and how you're easily identified 98% of the time even when using VPN. ( Here I laugh at yahoo guys I knew who were always all about Nord VPN to hide themselves)

20 likes at least would make me write on this topic (fingerprinting and why Nairaland should implement this to ban users from the platform temporarily or permanently and also to actually prevent multiple accounts and scammers) sooner else around January I'll write something about this
