Career / Re: Should I Sell My Virginity To Retain My Job? by emmysoftyou: 8:41pm On Feb 24, 2016
pinkiecutie:
good evening Nigerian's..

my heartfelt greetings goes to you guys once more as you this forum was instrumental to my getting a job last year August...

This is my story. I work for an auditing firm , name withheld by me. early this year I occasionally caught my boss staring at me provocatively I.e lustfully but I just took it as nothing serious because he has never made advances before to me.
Earlier this month, he started complimenting my looks and all, but I still not suspecting anything reciprocated by complimenting his good looks too..
After all who doesn't want to be in the good books of his or her boss..
On the 21st of Jan , he called me into his office and offered me a seat.
I sat innocently, and from there he started his talk about how hard working I was and all.
As if that was not enough, he drew closer and tried to fumble my breast..this man in his mid fifties , had no shame when I politely told him that I was still a virgin and that he should stop..
He apologized and asked me out of his office..
About three days later, he sent for me and presented my termination letter. When I opened the letter, a tear dropped off my eyelids as I saw in block black and bold letters "TERMINATION OF APPOINTMENT DUE TO REDUNDANCY" . I stood there for close to five minutes not knowing what to say. After a while I managed to utter a thank you sir and left to pack all my belongings out of the company..
I went home to meet my sick mom(my father is late, I am an only child), when I saw her state I couldn't just bring it upon my self to tell her that I was just sacked..
right now, all the money I have been spending has gone to my mother's treatment..
even to eat now is a problem, right now having 1000 naira is like a million naira...
I have considered giving in but my vow to keep my virginity till marriage is still strong ( this virginity till marriage is a family thing. my mom, mom's mom and so on where Virgins)
so confused right now lord please help me, in your loving kindness touch the hearts of men to look upon your daughter who has chosen to live according to your ways amen...

my dear dont shake at all,God will renew your strength, very certain about that cos he said he will never let the righteous to suffereth in vain.
the day i knew our God is alive was the day my family had a problems,i even gave up and commit the problems to God and i said to him through prayers that whatever will happen should happen. After that prayer, he surprised me and renew my strength. Dont give up. Since i left my past world,i ve seen countless of blessings, peace and favours from him.
My dear it s well with you. Just hold on, as for your mum dont be afraid,to me she is alright now..
just prays at midnite or tonight and she will be heal..

HopeAtHand:

Yorubas have benefited most from Nigeria.

Firstly, From 1967 when the war began and every other region was at war, the yorubas were at school. A yorubaman named Awolowo systematically ensured the war would leave a lasting destruction in the other regions using starvation policy.

Secondly Lagos, which is yorubaland was built with massive infrastructures as the former capital of the Nigeria. The enviable position of lagos isnt becos of the hardwork of yorubas but from the oil revenue from other regions.

The politically and economically motivated decisions that make Lagos the destinarion of choice in Nigeria using the Lagos seaport and airport as the drivers. Also the siting of federal ministries and parastatals in Lagos( when the parastatal isnt sited in Abuja).

The foreign embassies and missions scattered allover lagos... the IOCs which have been coerced into relocating to Lagos. The Lagos media which ensures other regions are depicted as unsafe for business... etc :-/

1) Your Cousin Brother is based in the US.
2) Cameroon Girl is based in the US.
3) With the overabundance of marriage opportunities in the USA, even Las Vegas 5 minute drive thru weddings where you don't even have to get out of your car to get married and for maybe $50, they flew to Nigeria as great expense to have a wedding.
4) I don't believe this particular story because it's out of the norm. If anywhere they would have gotten married in Cameroon.
i dont care if anyone of you believe me or not,am not here to convince anybody cos i ve nothing to lose.
the op experience reminded me of what happened to my cousin and i still have the wedding picture with me till date but i cant post the picture of my cousin here. For what na..
Bro listen to me very well, my cousin base in cameroun, and that s where she knew the girl b4.
he came to nigeria because the lady in question told her that she will prefare to do the white wedding in nigeria and not cameroun where she came from.(reason best know to them).

note; he knew this girl from cameroun b4 she travelled to usa. maybe she doesnt have residential permit or social benefit or whatever? I dont know. But is like the USa gave her condition that b4 you can get some requirement done. She must be a married woman before she can benefit or recognised as a citizen there or whatever. Etc.
pls,i dont know the full details yet.i have not being there(Us).I dont know how their system work there.
And i dont care if you believe me or not.
is not my business ok..tanx.

LAjibade:
Hello everyone. I have a question and was hoping you could shed me some light in a matter. I am in America. I went to Nigeria in 2011 and married my husband. I petition for him in 2012 and he arrived to America in 2013. Three months later he left. He is here in America, just not with me. He just left once he received his social security number, his permanent visa and a job in two months of being here. I haven't heard from him nor seen him again. I been wondering for a long time if my marriage to him is valid. In the marriage license it says it expired in 2013. I don't understand that.

Was our marriage set up or arranged to be temporary? I don't really understand Nigerian law or customs concerning marriage. (I am not Nigerian) I know my husband was rushing me to get him here before that expiration date. I am very confused. I also went to the office of public records here in America and they couldn't find any marital records of me and my husband, nothing. On the back of my marriage license issued in Nigeria, there is a website of marriage records, I entered my name and his name and didn't find anything. It just says no records found. Am I married to him or was it all fake? Can you please help me find out? I'd appreciate it. Even if it was all a scam, I still have Nigeria in my heart and will never have anything against Nigeria and Nigerians. Just my husband. Thank you in advance.
my cousin brother had the same issues with yours.he married a girl he knew from cameroun that base in usa now.this girl persuaded him for marriage proposal,so that she could get residential permit, visa or social security/benefit or whatever.the cameroun girl who base in US came to nigeria for the wedding arrangement set in place by my relative.they even spend money to put things in place.however, my cousin wedded her. The next day,she travelled to usa and from then,we didnt hear anything from her again and the family of my cousin re wondering what kind of marriage arrangement was that?
Pls this is base on what my other cousin told me.if i have knew,i wouldnt have attended.
But my dear, men in this world re desperate and eagar to do whatever means to survives.
Its so unfortunate you re a victim of circumstances here but i just wish you seeks advise before engaging in an illicit marriage with him.
Dont worry God is alive, tender your problems with him and he shall take away your burden from you.
Some people enjoys living a fake life but their punnishment is not far them.
Be strong dear...it s well...cheers.

I like this thread. This thread examplifies the true Republican nature of the Igbo. It is should not be seen as lack of cohesion when arguments are being made as to the origin of the entire Igbo race. Arguments helps to create a clearer picture of the issue at hand.I like the arguments, very insightful and revealing. Big Thanks to udordike, bigmarx and okwadatigbogal aswell as udmaster for your revealing contributions.

As an Ikwerre, the Nri story isnt something we are conversant when our history is told. In all, big ups to all of you.
so you dont know that we the igbos re republican in nature?
anyway, that s the way of our lives.

there re okrika and ikwerre settlers in imo state and these tribes do not originate from nri.
The same to abia state(aro) and ebonyi..
But no matter how we argued here.
We re proud igbos...
Pls take note of that..

okwadatigbogal:

The ancient writing system u talk about is called NSIBIDI! it was originated from the Ibibio/Efik people and the Aro's being closely affiliated with the Ibibios were the first set of present day Igbos to use it. It never originated from NRI. Aro is greatly affiliated with the Ibibios in present day Cross-River. Many ancient texts has even ascribed our origin to and Ibibio prince. That is why we have a lot of things in common with them. Even the popular long juju of the Aro people is called - Ibini Ukpabi(does it sound igbo to u). We have the Ekpe cult system and original Aro dialect is very mixed with Ibibio. So pls learn a little about history before u distort it. It is really offensive to see ppl claiming nonsense. In the past Aro people were known as the - Igbocalabar.

And i hope you have a boundry definition of what you call Niger Delta. The oil politics that divided igboland will soon be over and the boundry between igboland and your Niger delta(mainly ijaws) will be drawn.

I thank God my people has always been proud of their igboness despite being in Rivers state. The future holds good for us as igbos with the help of our naturally endowed "survival instincts/spirit"

we are developing.
We are expanding.
We are progressing.

Lest i forget. Obigbo is the satelite town of porthacourt. We are doing Good Infrastructurally and otherwise.
What does the future hold for polluted ijaw land?

Wasnt igboland producing palm oil?

Dont igboland have a seaport at porthacourt?

Somalia has the longest coastline in africa but where are they?

Doesnt igboland have more gas reserves and solid minerals than ijaw land?

Dont we have the human resource?

You once said that igbos lack bargaining chips, so what will be your peoples bargaining chips when pure water is more costly than toxic crude?

We are majorities, we can never loose in this game just like the yorubas and hausas though we have our political differences with them. Minority will always remain minority, they will continue to be pawns in the cheese board of Nigeria

You know what? Eurobomber was right!
no bro. Pezienza was right.

Politics / Re: Appointment Into Buhari’s Govt Not Reason For Biafra Agitation - Igbo Youths by emmysoftyou: 4:12pm On Dec 19, 2015
the main reasons why biafra agitation is not of political appointment.
They need the federal concentration in the east and south.
So if the federal government can give us all necessary things to survives more in the east then we can free all necessary minds of separating from nigeria.
Eventhough i want this country to be one cos i love the yorubas and hausas too but they should stop taking us for granted politically, economically and infrastructurally.
Nigeria government should give other nigerians in nigeria a patriotic to behold.

God bless the fed of rep of nigeria.
