In contrary to your claims, it was the Prophet who instructed the Sahabahs to send blessings on him before Taslim. “Pray as you have seen me praying.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (631). Go and read about the Prophet's prayer! Also re-read what is Bid'a.

Al-Bukhaari (3445) narrated from ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: “Do not exaggerate in praising me as the Christians exaggerated in praising the son of Maryam, for I am but a slave, so say: the slave of Allah and His Messenger.”
Imam Ahmad (12551) narrated from Anas ibn Maalik that a man said: O Muhammad, O our master (sayyid) and the son of our master, the best of us and the son of the best of us. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “O people, you should fear Allah and do not let the Shaytaan make you get carried away. I am Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullah, the slave of Allah and His Messenger. By Allah, I do not like for you to raise me above my station to which Allah appointed me.”
Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in as-Saheehah (1097)

And solati Ibrahimiyah in itself is a mere recommendation not definitive. Not to be said at a specific time. It is not even directly sending salawat on the prophet either. Rather is prophet Muhammad is using nabi Ibrahim as tawasul in solati Ibrahimiyah. solati Ibrahimiyah is a formula of all salawat. There is no restriction on this revolving practice unlike obligatory ones

What is problematic however is its fixation to a specific number, namely forty times. The basis of the problem is that it involves restricting a certain act of worship to a certain time and a certain number. This is a restriction of something that is unrestricted in the Sharee'ah, and it opposes what Ibn Taymiyyah and other scholars have affirmed. Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah said: “ It is not right for anyone to institute for people any kind of Athkaar (remembrances) or invocations of prayer that have not been prescribed (by Sharee'ah), and to make them a regular act of worship which people practice regularly as they practice the five prayers regularly. In fact, this consists in innovating an act of obedience which Allaah has not allowed, in contrast to the invocations of prayer which one says occasionally without making them traditions for people. So, you can use this one as a backup and the question is, how scholars have recommended or encouraged it? However, Ibn Taymiyyah is a human and is bound to make mistake so you don't follow what has no basis from Qur'an and sunnah
Adhkar are something encouraged regularly. You still end up at specific number at the end of the day. So i dont see how this is a problem. Adhkar are not restricted at any point in time. Sheikh Ibn Taymiyyah(ra) recommended early morning. If you search further, you will see many other sheikh recommended other times as well to indicate it is not restricted. It can be done anytime as you deem fit. So the issue of innovation is really irrelevant here.
Pataricatering: a lot of people scream God unconsciously because they were indoctrinated from a young age ! So you get used to saying things like thank God , God forbid etc ! I am ex - Muslim - it’s silly to think because people say thank God then they down - low believe in God - as if being able to mention God is a criteria for being Muslim or whatever else religion !
Fundamentalist: The topic of this thread is quite misleading. As someone who has participated in maintaining a mosque before I can't totally fault the mosque executive for putting such a measure . majority of the Muslim community thinks its just too easy to run a mosque not to talk of hosting occupiers for 10 days on the stretch. If you want to feel it please keep a constant vigil of cleaning your local mosque and tell how it feels .
1) The saying that food should be brought in by each individual might sound normal but in a central mosque , you would create a chaotic atmosphere in the sense that food flasks and baskets would the littering the mosque . This items such as plates , spoons , cups would take over the internal space meant for worship . The mosque would look untidy more like an eyesore in the name of eating , this is unacceptable. Whereas a climate where food is served to everyone using take away packs can easily be disposed and hence mosque maintains its normal serenity of cleanliness.
2) security : The situation in the country calls for security measures to be taken , this includes proper checking of individuals before they are admitted into the mosque. People have different intentions while some are there for worship , some other might have other intentions. This also include issuing of forms where each individual is properly identified in case of unforseen circumstance ( e.g. death)
3) overstretched facilities : How many mosques have the necessary facilities to accommodate hundreds of worshippers . I believe the mosque in question shouldn't have more than 10 toilets/bathroom. This is also unhygienic as it increase chances of spread of infections . just imagine the queue on a single toilet ,that has 400 worshippers and you can't hold the thing , we shouldn't forget leaving the mosque invalidates i'tikaf
4) mosque maintenance : This is one of the most difficult jobs no wonder the prophet prayed for a woman who was cleaning the mosque after her burial. Humans are very difficult to control , members of congregation hardly keep to simple mosque rules but don't joke with their home rules how ironic .
Lastly, running a mosque require finances , donating finances for mosque upkeep takes a lot of budgeting , you might be surprised how much is spent on that mosque on a monthly basis.
One thing that saddens me is that in Muslim dominated areas of Nigeria , there are mosques in every nook and crany of their areas but people still leave such places and crowd a single mosque , overstretched its facilities and blame government for the such situation
