Certainly Nigerians has become of age. Gone is those days, when because of election people will burn properties worth billions of Naira. Today we have all known better, what we have seen been demonstrated today is the understanding that people must be hold responsible for their action. A time will come in Nigeria when money will fail. Presently some unscrupulous politician still believed on buying peoples choice. They have completely forgotten that electorate entrusted their position to them. If you are given opportunity to serve and you in turn betrayed your subject ,you will cry but it will be too late. God hate betrayals. The result of this election has shown that there is an end be watchful, what goes around comes around. - MyNews24 |
N'Djamena - Seventy-one Chadian soldiers have been killed and 416 injured in two-and-a-half months' fighting Boko Haram, the Chadian army said on Friday. Chad is taking part in a regional offensive against the Nigeria-based extremists radicals along with troops from Nigeria, Niger and Cameroon. Chad army chief General Brahim Seid told reporters in N'Djamena the "valiant soldiers" had died since February 3 in the "just and noble cause of bringing peace and security" to the region. The countries neighbouring Nigeria, including Chad, sent troops to help crush Boko Haram after the Islamists began to threaten the region surrounding Lake Chad, where the borders of all four nations converge. Nigeria's army has been criticised for failing to deal with Boko Haram fighters whose bid to set up a hard line Islamic state has killed more than 15,000 people since 2009 and put scores of thousands to flight, according to the UN. The UN on Thursday launched an appeal for $174 million to give "life-saving aid" to the almost 200,000 Nigerians who have fled the country due to the group's brutal attacks. http://m.news24.com/nigeria/National/News/71-Chadian-soldiers-killed-fighting-Boko-Haram-20150410 |

Abuja - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday berated each other over the diplomatic row between Nigeria and Morocco, reports New Telegraph. While the APC asked the President to address Nigerians on the cause of the ongoing diplomatic row between the two countries, the PDP told the APC to be patriotic. In a statement issued in Lagos on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, the APC said President Jonathan must clarify the thorny issue of whether or not he spoke with King Mohammed. The party said until the President addressed the issue, Nigerians would remain a nation of liars. The PDP in a swift reaction insisted that Jonathan was not a liar. The party challenged the APC to tell Nigerians whether or not its presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari was considering the request of some foreign nations to scrap the anti-gay laws and allow same-sex marriage in order to secure their support. - News 24 |
Yaounde - Several thousand people took to the streets of Cameroon's capital on Saturday to denounce Boko Haram's bloody insurgency and call for the killing of the group's leader Abubakar Shekau. "This march symbolises Cameroon's unity against Boko Haram," the country's Labour Minister Gregoire Owona told marchers in Yaounde, before shouting "Shekau!" In response, the crowd which organisers said numbered 10 000-15 000, chanted: "You are dead, you are a coward." Over the past seven months Cameroonian soldiers have been battling the extremists, which are now locked in a regional fight that also includes soldiers from Nigeria and Chad. Boko Haram's six-year insurgency, which has left 13 000 dead and forced over a million from their homes, has increasingly spilled over into neighbouring nations. Several ministers led the vocal, but peaceful march, which saw protestors waving the flags of Cameroon, Chad and Nigeria. "It was important to be here for me, for my brothers who are on the front, for my country," said marcher Philomene Ekombo, a Cameroonian flag in hand. However, the date of the demonstration sparked controversy in Cameroon because it coincided with the anniversary of protests in 2008 in which the government said 40 people were killed. Locals groups put the death toll at 139. Critics claimed the march organisers, with government encouragement, planned the protest in order to overshadow memorials of the 2008 killings. Organisers denied the allegation, saying: "There is no memorial war." http://m.news24.com/nigeria/National/News/Cameroon-protesters-call-for-death-of-Boko-Haram-leader- |

Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti has reacted to the news of Olusegun Obasanjo dumping the People’s Democratic Party (PDP),by lambasting the former head of state. The son of legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti has reacted on his Facebook page by saying that Obasanjo has failed to take responsibility for killing his grandmother and other of his crimes. “Baba obasanjo has blamed everyone else for this bad government except himself. You were no different and this is just an escalation of your tactics. Na so u burn my father house, kill my grandmother and blamed unknown soldiers. “ Hian. Oga take responsibility sometimes too. Not only are we on the wrong journey we got lost there too and are on the wrong path. We are lost in a wrong journey and Obasanjo is the navigation officer,” he wrote on Facebook. Olusegun Obasanjo had on Monday announced his exit from the party after infamously tearing his membership card. -News24 |
A further postponement of Nigeria's general elections beyond the rescheduled polling day of March 28 would be "unconstitutional", the country's election chief, Attahiru Jega, said on Wednesday. "I don't see how anybody can contemplate any extension beyond these six weeks because there is no constitutional grounds on which you can do that," Jega said in testimony to the Senate. Jega told the chamber that his Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was prepared to hold the vote on the original polling day, February 14, but was persuaded to support a delay by guidance from the country's security chiefs. National Security Advisor Sambo Dasuki and military top brass said soldiers would not be able provide election security nationwide because they were fighting Boko Haram in the northeast. The Islamist rebels have continued killing at a relentless pace, including at least 38 deaths in two separate suicide attacks on Tuesday. The military has also claimed major gains in recent days. Asked how he would respond if the security agencies requested a further delay, Jega referred to a constitutional provision that requires elections to be concluded at least 30 days before May 29, when a new government must be sworn in. "Every Nigerian knows we want elections to hold... within a constitutional time frame," he told senators. "The security agencies are (made up of) patriotic Nigerians. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt." But he added that a further delay "will only have to be unconstitutional and I don't see how anybody can contemplate unconstitutional things". There were widespread accusations that the military pushed for the delay to allow President Goodluck Jonathan more time to revive his struggling re-election campaign. Experts say he is facing a tough test against former military ruler Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress party, with the vote likely too close to call. www.news24.com.ng/Elections/News/Any-further-vote-delay-unconstitutional-Jega-20150218 |
Lagos - The Federal Government has approved the revocation of the licences of private jet owners who used their aircraft for commercial purposes, Punch reports. The federal government said their licenses were revoked as they were contravening the private operations certificates issued to them by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority. A report that made available did not state the private jet owners whose certificates were to be revoked, it stated that 51 private jets operating under 27 operators were in the NCAA database. Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, stated that some operators of private jets in the country were beginning to threaten him as well as intimidate employees of the Federal Ministry of Aviation over the decision to bar them from operating commercial flights. http://www.punchng.com/business/business-economy/fg-to-revoke-private-jet-owners-certificates/ |
Abuja - Nigeria's military on Monday claimed the recapture of Monguno, a garrison town in northeast Borno state, after it was seized by Boko Haram extremist militants last month. The insurgents suffered casualties and the military operation disrupted an attempt to re-supply fighters in the flashpoint town of Baga with weapons and food, a statement said. "Troops in a military operation spearheaded by highly coordinated air assaults have completed the mission of clearing terrorists from Monguno and environs this morning," defence spokesman Chris Olukolade said. Boko Haram seized Monguno on January 25, taking hold of a military base and a cache of weapons, after overpowering troops based in the town. Losing Monguno was seen as a tough blow for the military given its proximity to Borno's capital Maiduguri, which Boko Haram has long eyed as a takeover target. Fears that Boko Haram would use Monguno as a launching pad for an attack on Maiduguri were confirmed on February 1, when the extremists stormed the state capital, before being repelled. The military's claims of successes over Boko Haram have often been inconsistent with witness accounts but if confirmed the recapture of Monguno would add to a growing list of army victories this month. According to defence officials, a new cooperation with neighbouring militaries, including Cameroon, Chad and Niger, has put the rebels on the defensive, with several towns under rebel control retaken. But the insurgency has persisted, including a huge assault of Gombe city Saturday by scores of insurgents and a suicide bombing in Yobe state's capital Damaturu on Sunday that killed 13. Nigeria's election had been scheduled for February 14 but security officials cited raging violence as a justification for a six-week delay. The international community and Nigeria's opposition have warned that any further postponement could spark a constitutional crisis and even unrest. President Goodluck Jonathan has vowed that the elections will go ahead and a new, elected government sworn in on May 29, in keeping with the constitution. m.news24.com/nigeria/National/News/Military-recaptures-Monguno-from-Boko-Haram-20150216 |

Rabat - Morocco has refused to host January's African Nations Cup soccer finals amid fears over the spread of the Ebola virus, throwing the 2015 tournament into jeopardy on Saturday. The country, which had already said it wanted the 16-team event postponed, rejected an ultimatum set by the Confederation of African Football to confirm the hosting of the continental championship due to take place Jan. 17-Feb. 8. A statement from Morocco's sports ministry said: "The decision is dictated by health reasons because of the serious threat of Ebola and the risk of its spreading." A decision on the tournament will now be made next week when CAF has an executive committee meeting in Cairo but Morocco will almost certainly be stripped as hosts. CAF said earlier on Saturday it would make no statement until after Wednesday's meeting. Morocco is concerned that supporters from west Africa converging on the country for the tournament could bring with them the deadly virus and put at risk their important tourist industry They asked CAF to postpone the event to June, or even January 2016, but this was rejected last week by African soccer's governing body, who set Morocco a deadline of Saturday to confirm it would host the three-week tournament. CAF can now either move the event to another country - although it has had no public expression of interest from nations it approached to be on standby as possible emergency hosts - or cancel it at great financial cost. CAF accused Morocco of being alarmist in its fears over the spread of the virus, which has caused almost 5,000 deaths in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone, and set out a lengthy list of reasons why it felt they could still host the tournament without any risk. Global health authorities are struggling to contain the world's worst Ebola epidemic since the disease was identified in 1976 and cases have reached as far as the United States and Spain. Morocco has therefore stood firm on its refusal to host and could face sanctions including the possibility of a lengthy ban from future Nations Cup tournaments. The Moroccans did offer in Saturday's statement to host the 2017 finals. The tournament is African football's showpiece but has a turbulent history, with several prospective hosts like Kenya, Libya, Zambia and Zimbabwe pulling out or being stripped of hosting rights in the past after being awarded the tournament. Libya gave up the hosting of the 2017 finals in August because of security issues and stadium delays and CAF must find a replacement. The 2019 finals are set for Cameroon, 2021 in the Ivory Coast and 2023 in Guinea. m.news24.com/nigeria/Sport/Football/Morocco-says-no-to-AFCON- |
Abuja - Dr Doyin Okupe, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, said on Friday that President Goodluck Jonathan, remains the most performing president the country has had since independence. Okupe said this at the Public Affairs Forum held in Abuja. The four-day forum was organised under the auspices of Okupe’s office to highlight the achievements of the Jonathan-led administration. Okupe said that although previous Nigerian leaders performed well within the circumstances they found themselves, none of them achieved half of what President Jonathan have achieved in four years. The presidential aide described as "nonsense" claims that the Transformation Agenda of the President existed only in the media. "It is nonsense to say that the Transformation Agenda of Jonathan existed in the television. We have not spoken about what he has done. We are going to overwhelm Nigerians during the campaign." He said it was regrettable that not much had been done to sell the good performance of the Jonathan`s administration to Nigerians. Okupe, however, held that past Nigerian leaders contributed immensely to the development of the country to their best abilities as each of them recorded his own achievement. He said that the Jonathan-led Federal Government would showcase its achievements to Nigerians during the presidential campaign for 2015. This, he said, would convince the people that Jonathan remains the best option for the country in the years to come. He, however, advised Nigerians to shun the antics of the opposition, saying that in spite of their criticism, they had not told Nigerians what they would offer, if given the opportunity to govern. "This election will be a ‘no contest’ affair. We are telling the world what Jonathan has done. We will not stop until well beyond February. 2015," he said. Also speaking, the Minister of Transport, Sen. Idris Umar, presented the ministry's achievements in the last four years during the event with the theme "Jonathan`s administration: Four impactful years''. He said the resuscitation and modernisation of the Nigerian Railway system had reached an advance stage. The minister highlighted various stages of work on new and existing rail lines in different parts of the country, many of which, he said, would be completed by the end of the year. He stated that the Jonathan-led administration had repositioned the Nigerian port system in line with global best practices. The administration, he said, had also increased the use of inland waterways and enhanced maritime safety and security. The minister said that the administration had also improved the inter-model coordination of the Nigerian transport system and enhanced private sector participation in transportation in the country. "These achievements have certainly impacted positively on the actualisation of the Transformation Agenda of Mr. President to the overall benefit of the Nigerian economy and the citizens," he said. http://m.news24.com/nigeria/National/News/Jonathan-named-most-performing-president-since-independence-20141101 |

Urine is a waste product made in the kidney as a means of removing unwanted substances from the body. Numerous factors affect the colour of urine, what we eat and drink goes a long way to affect our urine colour. A person that fasts from food and water on a sunny day will have dark yellow urine due to dehydration. The myth that when the urine is yellow indicates malaria is very wrong, the standard colour of urine ranges from colourless to amber to light yellow depending on various factors. Alcohol in the system and when over hydrated especially in cool environments can lead to a very clear urine with high volume. Vegetables can change urine colour. Drugs can change urine colour and odour e.g. Rifampicin can make the urine colour orange in colour. Below are urine colours and what they stand for: Yellow/light orange may be caused by removal of excess B vitamins from the blood Bloody urine is a symptom of wide variety of medical conditions Dark orange to brown urine can be a symptom of jaundice, rhabdomyolysis or Gilbert’s syndrome Black or dark coloured urine may be caused by melanoma Pinkish urine can result from the consumption of beets Greenish urine can result from the consumption of asparagus Reddish or brown urine may be caused by porphyria Blue urine may be caused by the ingestion of methylene blue e.g. in medications Blue urine stains can be caused by blue diaper syndrome Purple urine may be due to purple urine bag syndrome The odour of normal urine can reflect what has been consumed or specific diseases. Sweet smell is sugar in urine which indicates diabetes. Asparagus, onions, saffron, tuna fish, alcohol, coffee can affect the scent of urine. The normal urine volume is 1-2 litres per day but this can be affected by some factors. In very hot conditions, the body tends to save more water especially when a lot is lost sweating. If you feel the urge to ease yourself and you engage in an activity that increases sweating without drinking any fluid to replenish that urge will suddenly disappear because the body will make use of all water in the body when necessary. Expect much urine when you take alcohol, in cold weather, in air conditioned vehicles etc. Expect low urine volume in hot weather, when engaging in activities that make you sweat. Drinking of urine is very wrong even in survival conditions it only makes thirst worse, rather soak a cloth in urine and place it on the head. http://adeyemialabi..com/2014/10/the-scary-truth-about-your-body-cream.html?m=1#!/2014/10/the-scary-truth-about-your-body-cream.html |
