Photos:- See Snake Boy Who Sheds His Skin Every 41 Days.https://www.nairaland.com/1924740/photos-see-snake-boy-sheds |
An Indonesian boy suffering from a rare condition that leaves his skin dry and scaly has been dubbed ‘snake boy’ because he sheds his skin every 41 days. Ari Wibowo, 16, has to smear himself with moisturiser every three hours and soak in water every hour to stop himself drying up and cracking. The teenager suffers from Erythroderma, an inflammatory skin disease also known as red man syndrome, that causes the skin over his entire body to become scaly and flake off. He also has problems with his speech and his vision in his right eye is impaired, while the other is constantly being treated with drops. So far, doctors in Indonesia have been baffled by the disease, leaving his family to cope alone to manage the heartbreaking condition themselves. As well as living with his reptile-like appearance, Ari also has to put up with cruel stares and suspicion from villagers, and children too terrified by his looks to play with him where he lives in Tangerang, in the province of Banten. The schoolboy’s incredible life has been captured by photographer Nurcholis Anhari Lubis, who studied the boy’s condition as part of an essay project. The 35-year-old describes the boy’s skin as “scaly like a snake about to shed his skin”, as he observed him at home, in the classroom and socialising with friends his own age. He said: “It’s really sad because he was not born normally and has scaly skin all over his body, similar to being severely burnt, from the sole of his feet up to his head,” he told Daily Mail Australia. “If the boy doesn’t moisturise or soak his skin in water, his body would shrivel and harden up like a sculpture and he won’t be able to move. “If he leaves it unattended for too long, he won’t be able to speak because the wrinkles inside his mouth would go hard and it would dry out all his blood in his body.”

The India’s space agency are proud to released a blurry image to the world of Mars pockmarked with giant craters, taken by the country’s first interplanetary spacecraft after it began orbiting the red planet. The image that was released today was taken while the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), also dubbed “Mangalyaan” was about 7,300km from the planet’s surface, according to the Indian Space and Research Organisation (ISRO). It took at least 12 minutes for the digital data to reach Earth. ISRO scientists released the first image after first bringing it to New Delhi to show to Prime Miniser Narendra Modi, who had spent Wednesday morning witnessing the satellite’s last manoeuvres into orbit from the space agency’s Mars command centre in the southern city of Bangalore. The scientists tweeted under a special mission profile@MarsOrbiter, which has gained more than 95,000 followers since being set up on Tuesday. “The view is nice up here,”the scientists tweeted. Modi responded through his Twitter feed, saying he agreed. The satellite will spend the next six months on an elliptical orbit - coming as close as 365km and swinging out to 80,000km at its farthest – as it collects scientific data on the Martian atmosphere. India was enthralled with the mission’s success. Indian newspapers on Thursday ran front-page stories and two-page spreads detailing the mission. http://www.informationng.com/2014/09/indias-successful-mars-orbiter-sends-first-image-back.html

THE Senate has begun moves aimed at permanently banning the manufacturing, consumption and promotion of tobacco in Nigeria. But the development generated controversies among senators, yesterday, during debate on a bill to that effect just as the Senate President, David Mark, lamented that powerful individuals who were against the ban and regulation of tobacco in the country influenced Presidency to withhold assent on a similar bill sponsored and passed by the 6th Senate. Senators, who spoke during debate on the bill which was presented by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Health, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, PDP, Delta North for deliberation, were sharply divided. Although the bill, as presented by Senator Okowa merely sought repeal of the act on tobacco manufacturing, sale, promotion and sponsorship in the country, majority of the senators who contributed to the debate on the issue, insisted that tobacco should be outrightly banned in the country. But the Senate President explained that the bill, as he understood, merely seeks to regulate advertisement about smoking in the country, given the danger associated with tobacco. He said: “The essence of the Bill is to highlight the dangers inherent in smoking and it also seeks to regulate advertisement about smoking. We have gone one step further to ban it also but when it goes to public hearing, then we will get public opinion on that. Why the bill failed earlier Recalling how a similar bill sponsored and passed in the 6th Senate was killed by the Presidency, Mark appealed to relevant authorities not to repeat withholding of assent if the current one scales through. He said: “Let me remind us that we passed this bill actually in the Sixth Senate and Senator Olorunmibe Mamora was the sponsor. He talked extensively and we had a similar debate the same way we talked now. “Powerful groups are behind the bill and I remember that in the Sixth Senate a lot of lobbyists were all over the place when this bill was being debated. So I am not surprised that we eventually didn’t sign it but we should have courage to at least do something. I don’t think we should just leave it that way this time around. “The dangers inherent in smoking are very obvious and I think that at the end of the day we would be able to get feelers from the general public. My prayer is that this time around once we pass this bill, I hope that it will be signed because we are just left hanging at the moment. It is neither here nor there. Nothing has been done. “Hopefully this time around the executive would be able to sign it. Those who would determine will be the general public – Nigerians – but let me remind us also that this Bill is not just a Nigerian bill. It is far more important because there are a lot of countries that have tried to debate the issue of total ban on cigarette and smoking.” Contributing to the debate on the bill, the Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, PDP, Cross River Central, said: “I support and concur with all the arguments as canvassed in the lead debate by Senator Ifeanyi Okowa but I want to ask that in this bill, there is the health component just as it has the economic component. “In spite of the dangers of tobacco, we have to deal with the use of tobacco in such a regulated manner that it doesn’t create any economic distortion because if we don’t address the economic issues properly, then we will end up with more of smuggled tobacco that is unregulated and our own tobacco industry here will become un-protective. So when it gets to public hearing, I want to urge the relevant committees to balance the health issues with the economic issues.” Also, in his contribution, Senator James Manager, PDP, Delta South, said: “This is a very harmless bill about something that is very harmful to human health. I used to wonder why the world is shying away from banning tobacco. Instead, they are advertising it. We should not talk of the economic benefit of something that is harmful to human health because you need to be alive for you to enjoy economic benefit of something. Tobacco consumption supposed to be banned. This tobacco, I don’t know how it tastes, by the grace of God, Mr President, I have never attempted to smoke it and I don’t want to know.” On his part, Senator Smart Adeyemi, PDP, Kogi West, said: “I rise to support this bill. To support this bill, I took time to look at all the various recognitions and issues that this bill intends to address but I want to also say that tobacco deserves to be banned in this country. Today, as we are here deliberating on this bill, I have looked round and said to myself that how many of our colleagues are smoking here. “ I doubt if there is anybody here that smokes and I want to say here that the rich, the highly placed Nigerians have come to realize the harm that smoking does to the health, that is why they don’t smoke. Smoking was fashionable, so to speak in the 60s and 70s.Then, people smoked and they looked at it that they have attended a particular class, they would smoke and show that they were smoking. Now, Nigerians have come to realized that it is not something to be encouraged. “So, the question now is, who are the people that engaged in smoking? When you go to Nigerian universities, you see student smoking in the afternoon and night and those who smoke among the students are the poor people, people who are going through the hard economic situation, they resort to smoking as a way of easing pressure. I do not see any reason why we should be here and still encourage tobacco in Nigeria because I do not believe in any economic benefit the cigarette is contributing to our economy. I think we are a blessed nation and we should do everything possible to save the younger ones.” Senator Anyanwu, PDP, Imo East, while also speaking, said: “I support the bill because I have come to see that all the countries where people smoke openly are the poorest countries in the world. ” This bill is really to save lives, we want money, we want jobs but we don’t want jobs in an area that will lead to massive death. We should make it very uncomfortable for people to smoke.” Senator Akin Odunsi, APC, Ogun West, also supported the bill, saying: “I rise to lend my voice to this bill, particularly, to express an opinion that is in tandem with those already expressed by two earlier speakers—Senator Adeyemi and Senator James Manager. I think my position is very clear; any goods that is legally produced should be legally promoted. As I speak today, there has been continuous restriction on the promotion of cigarette and I know that the reason is because we all know that cigarette smoking is dangerous to health. “And of course, if we look at the economic angle, because of what we derive from the manufacturers of tobacco and the employment that it generates, then of course, we will be cutting corners. I believe that this bill has come short of what we expect, if we all agree that smoking is injurious to heath, even the smoke is injurious to non smokers, then the is no reason why we should continue to encourage the production of this product. I think we should be bold enough at this stage to stop the production of tobacco products completely, because that way, they can still engage in another area of production that can employ the youths of this country. On this basis, I think that we should stop paying lip service to this problem we have at hand.” But Senator Abdul Ningi, PDP, Bauchi Central, kicked against the ban being canvassed by some of his colleagues. He said: “ I think we should only look at clearly what this bill seeks to achieve. This bill seeks to regulate and then control the production- the manufacturing and promotion of tobacco. One of the cardinal principles of creation of human beings is for him to be able to identify what is good and what is right. The issue of banning tobacco hinges on fundamental human rights of an individual and therefore, if you ban tobacco, you must ban several other things. Example, you must ban corruption, you must also ban chewing stick, you must also ban illicit sexual intercourse, you must also ban lesbianism. “ A human brain is created with the freedom of choice. There is no doubt that tobacco affects somebody’s health and that is what the bill seeks to achieve but no human being will tell me what to do and what do do because I have human capacity to choose what I want. Therefore, some of these choices, we must be caution sometimes when we try to do things that infringe on the choices of human beings. Some people, if they don’t smoke tobacco, they go into coma. There are people who cannot work without tobacco, what we need to do as a parliament is to identify the cardinal problems with a view to regulate. This bill is not aimed at banning tobacco and therefore we should not even go there. Nobody, no nation, no country has gone there and Nigeria should not go there.” Earlier, in his lead debate, sponsor of the bill, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa explained that scientific evidence has unequivocally established that tobacco consumption and exposure to tobacco smoke cause death, disease and disability. He further said the bill provides generally for protection of present and future generation from the devastating health, social, economic and environmental consequences of tobacco use and exposure to tobacco smoke. He appealed to senators to support the passage of the bill, explaining further that the bill seeks to regulate tobacco products and disclosure of information about tobacco production to the government in order to effectively exercise its regulatory powers. He recalled that the World Health Assembly, WHA, at its 56th meeting, adopted a treaty on World Health Organisation Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, saying the treaty, which came into force on February 27,2005, became the first WHO treaty adopted under Article 19 of the WHO constitution that was legally binding in 176 ratifying countries of which Nigeria was one. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/09/senate-moves-ban-tobacco-production-consumption/#sthash.DlJoHgKn.dpuf |

Manchester United forward Juan Mata has apologised for his team's Premier League meltdown against Leicester that left them 12th in the league after five matches. United looked set for a comfortable win after moving 3-1 ahead at the King Power stadium on Sunday, but some abject defending in the final half hour allowed Leicester to record their first home win over the Red Devils in 29 years, eventually running out 5-3 winners. "After a whole week waiting for the match I could not imagine a Sunday like this," Mata said. "The way back from Leicester to Manchester on the bus seemed really long. "I keep thinking about how we lost a game that was under control. "It's really tough to score three goals away and come back home with no points. "On our way back to Manchester I was thinking about what had happened and felt so disappointed as all those that came with us to the stadium. "Honestly, I feel very sorry that the weekend ended up for our fans in such a sad way." Former United captain Gary Neville said the team looked "soft-centred" and ex-Holland striker Ruud Gullit criticised manager Louis van Gaal for spending the majority of his transfer budget on the likes of Falcao, Angel di Maria and Ander Herrera when defensive reinforcements were needed more. Former United coach Rene Meulensteen also expressed his surprise that Van Gaal had not yet handed Luke Shaw his debut. Van Gaal left Shaw on the bench for the last two games despite a number of injuries in defence. Asked whether he thought his fellow Dutchman does not rate £28million signing Shaw, Meulensteen told TalkSPORT, "Yes. It's a big surprise for me. "He would have been informed by the club that they were putting this bid in for Shaw because he's an up and coming player. "He's got a good left foot and a lot of pace. He's got a lot to learn to get to a Man United level though. "He's a great prospect but he's brought (Marcos) Rojo in, which is bad news for Shaw." http://endougs..com/2014/09/mata-apologises-for-man-utd-performance.html |

After much persuasion, Boko Haram has agreed to release the abducted 219 Chibok girls if the Federal Government will simultaneously set free its 18 key commanders. The two parties have asked their representatives to go back to their leaders on the new swap deal proposal. Prior to the latest agreement at the talks in Abuja, which was witnessed by some officials of the International Committee of the Red Cross(ICRC), Boko Haram had insisted on a piecemeal release of the girls, with priority given to 30 married Christians among them. The Federal Government also offered to release six of the 18 sect leaders in detention. The two sides maintained a parallel stand until they met again in Abuja at a session facilitated by the President, Civil Rights Congress (CRC), Comrade Shehu Sani. The sect said if the government attempted to secure the girls by force, it might lead to fatalities. At the meeting, Boko Haram also maintained that it had the capacity to “engage the Federal Government for 45 years”. It said the outcome of the talks would determine the end of the insurgency. Some of those at the talks gave insights into the new dimension to the moves to free the Chibok girls, who were abducted from their hostel on April 15. It was gathered that the session was attended by ICRC officials. One of those who attended said: “The sect shifted its position and agreed to release all the girls instead of 30 Christian married girls it had promised. But Boko Haram said it does not trust the government going by previous experience. “If the government had respected previous talks, the Chibok girls were initially meant to be off the hook during the Eid-el Fitr festival. Again about two weeks ago, a delegation was already in Maiduguri until the swap deal was bungled. “Some security agents only advised on the release of six out of the 18 leaders of the sect. They rated the rest 12 as dangerous. “When the insurgents found out, they backtracked and demanded the release of the 18 leaders. The development paved the way for the latest talks in Abuja which involved the ICRC.” “By the new arrangement, ICRC will pick up the girls and simultaneously hand over the detained 18 leaders to Boko Haram. “The government also said it would not free the detained leaders of Boko Haram until all the girls were released. Asked what was eventually agreed upon, another source at the session said: “We generally agreed that all the parties should go back to their leaders on the agreement reached. The government said no to piecemeal release of the girls and Boko Haram claimed that it will not have any business with the government until all the 18 leaders of the sect are freed. “After the Eid-el-Kabir festival, the two parties will meet again on the terms to finalise the agreement or part ways. “Before the meeting rose, Boko Haram representatives warned against the use of force to liberate the girls. It also made it clear that it had the “capacity to take on the Federal Government for the next 45 years.” Responding to a question on whether the sect will end the insurgency or not, another source said: “The delegation from Boko Haram said the outcome of the latest round of talks will determine whether they should ceasefire or not.” http://endougs..com/2014/09/boko-haram-to-free-219-chibok-girls-in.html |

For Oliver Udeh and his family, Wednesday, September 17, 2014, was like any other day. There was no premonition to suggest that a calamity of immeasurable proportion was about to befall the family of eight, made up of husband, wife and six children, consisting of four boys and two girls. However, in the evening of that day, the unexpected happened. Their co-tenant, a 50-year old man, identified as Mike Okeze from Abia State, reportedly got hold of a machete and descended on Oliver’s children, hacking them down one after the other. At the end of the attack, two of the children, Favour, three, and Destiny, nine months, both boys, laid dead. Two others, Gift, seven, and Goodness, five, had their nose and wrist, respectively cut off by the rampaging farmer, who later fled into a bush. Narrating the tragedy that befell him, 30-year-old Oliver Udeh from Nsukka in Enugu State, who farms at Okha II community, along Benin – Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, said he was on a journey when a call came through that one man, called Mike Okeze, had killed two of his children and their bodies had been deposited at Stella Obasanjo Hospital, Benin, while the other two, who sustained serious injuries were at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH). “He wanted to kill my wife but my wife escaped to go and call neigbours. Before they came, Mike had fled into the bush. We are still looking for him,I did not have any quarrel with the man. But I learnt he complained that my children obstructed his way. My wife told me that he then proceeded to push one of them down. I think he didn’t like seeing my children. Because I traveled, he then had the opportunity to attack them and killed two,”He is, therefore, asking government to give him justice in the matter and to assist him to settle the hospital bills of the other two, both of them girls, who are still receiving medical care in hospital, as he barely survives on subsistence farming. In an encounter with Daily Sun, his wife, Chinyere, gave a blow by blow accountof how account of what transpired on the fateful day.According to her: “Three days ago, my children were playing within the compound when our neigbour arrived and began to question why they ran past the front of his room. He then used a wheelbarrow to block the way.I went to beg him to forgive the children but he said my husband and I were sending them to insult him. In a short while, he pounced on me and held me by the neck. Next, he seized a cutlass and pursued me, but I ran for my life. “When he could not keep pace with me, he returned to a spot in the compound and sat down. Thinking that his anger had simmered down, I went to the kitchen to take care of my cooking but I didn’t know he had locked the doors, with my children inside. A little while later, I heard the children, screaming for help and there was no way I could get in. All my six children were inside at that time. While I was outside, he was busy dealing the children machete blows. While that encounter lasted, he killed two while the two grownups escaped though the window. He succeeded in killing my baby of nine months and the other, who was three years old. The dead were both boys,I want government to find the man and kill him just as he killed my children; we are a poor family.”Giving an insight into what led to the dastard act, she said: “He had a quarrel with my husband three years ago. What caused the quarrel was that he brought a chameleon from the farm and smoked it in my kitchen. My husband warned him about it, saying a chameleon was dangerous. So, my husband had to throw it away. Three days later, my children fell sick. Since then, he has been chasing my children around but we didn’t know he haboured such evil intention. When I realised that he was killing the children, I struggled to break into the room. But by the time I succeeded, part of the horror I saw was that he had sliced my baby’s throat; he had also cut my other son’s head. He cut off my girl’s wrist and sliced the girl’s nose. Thereafter, he escaped through the window and fled into the bush.We need help now. We don’t even have any money to pay for the x-ray or operation on the rest of the children, who are alive,”At the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, doctors described the condition of the two children on admission as “stable but critical.” Spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, Noble Uwoh, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said police were hunting for the fleeing murderer and would bring him to justice. President and founder of the Living Faith Church aka Winners Chapel Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has defended what many consider to be the exorbitant tuition fees charged by the church’s schools, describing the provision of quality education as an expensive venture. Oyedepo defended the fees while addressing journalists on Friday in Ota, Ogun State, at a media chat organised as part of activities to celebrate his 60th birthday coming up on September 27, 2014. Private schools, especially faith-based ones in the country, including Covenant and Landmark universities, owned by the church, are often criticised for being too expensive for average Nigerians to afford. But the popular cleric highlighted some of the church’s humanitarian programmes which include providing scholarships and bursary awards to assist disadvantaged and brilliant students. He said, “I’m sure we all agree that education is expensive. Education carries cost; nothing of value is free. Our mission for years long, before we started any university or secondary school, was a bursary awarding church and we have not stopped doing that till tomorrow”. Oyedepo said that the church was committed to providing quality education to youths, adding that many Nigerians complain about the cost of education in private universities because they have got their priorities misplaced. “Our problem most of the time is priority; an average Nigerian can spend N1m on burial but to spend N200,000 on education (is a problem), because of wrong priority. “On a yearly basis, we have N1.5trn that Nigerians spend to overseas universities, so people thrive on it. Nigerians spend N463bn a month on recharge cards, how much are they paying for schools fees? So it’s all a matter of priority. This is the largest market for telephone in the world. Now, to pay N500,000, some people have only one son, they have huge business and houses all over the places, they will never pay it”. Speaking further, Oyedepo, who seems to have developed thick skin to many controversial reports about him on the social media, revealed that it is a waste of time to respond to his critics. He said, “My understanding of opposition, persecution is simply someone’s opinion harshly expressed. Everybody has a right to his opinion. Today, millions follow after Christ but you will be surprised that when you get to Israel some people do not believe that Christ has come. “People have rights to their opinions. I naturally don’t feel it’s necessary (to respond). The energy I would need to react, I can use it to make moves. I have enough to think about than start running after a man who says you are a fool. “If he says you are a fool and you are behaving so, then he’s right. If you leave your job and start pursuing somebody who says you are a fool, he has already said so, your going around doesn’t change it. So why going around, why don’t you settle on your job and make moves? “I’ve also come to understand that those who make news hardly watch them, they are so busy making news while others are busy watching”. Asked about the challenges he has faced in life and in his ministry, Oyedepo said he had never focused on his challenges but rather, has been fuelled by them. He said, “Life essentially is full of challenges, it is those challenges that make champions. You can’t emerge a heavy weight boxing champion except you receive punches. You can’t change classes in school except you write exams. “So to me, life is an adventure in challenges and I’ve said often that it is normal to be challenged but it’s unscriptural to be defeated. Challenges are the stepping stones for the making of champions”. In 1981, at the age of 27, Oyedepo, who would later become a household name in Nigeria and beyond, started his ministry in Ilorin, Kwara State and sited his first church two years later in Kaduna State. At the media chat, he said that the church, which had humble beginnings, is now located in 63 countries in the world and that the Faith Tabernacle, Ota, where he is the presiding Bishop, plays host to “over 200,000 worshippers every Sunday morning in four services”. http://endougs..com/2014/09/oyedepo-defends-fees-charged-by-private.html

President Goodluck Jonathanhas declared that Nigeria is free of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease which has claimed seven lives in the past weeks. Jonathan addressing State House journalists in Abuja yesterday said nobody has Ebola in the country at the moment. He said all those who hitherto had the symptoms of the virus had recovered. Jonathan, however, noted that the possibility of recording the Ebola in Nigeria again could not be ruled out as long as it continued to ravage Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. He said the likelihood that someone like Liberian-American Patrick Sawyer who imported the virus to Nigeria in July could also not be foreclosed, according to report from Daily Trust “Presently, there is no case of Ebola in Nigeria. Nobody in Nigeria has Ebola now. All the people that had the symptoms of Ebola have recovered. Out of 19, we lost seven and the others have recovered. Yes, there are few people we are observing. “That’s not to say we may not record Ebola again as long as Ebola is still in the West Coast, it is there in Guinea Conakry, it is there in Liberia, it is there in Sierra Leone. The likelihood that the character like the Late Sawyer can come in one way or the other is also open”, he said. He said the government had so properly protected the nation’s airports that “if Sawyer were to arrive Nigeria now, no Nigerian would have contracted Ebola because of the level of preparation…We are sure that even if one mad Sawyer comes again, nobody will contract Ebola. Thanking all Nigerians for managing the virus, Jonathan affirmed that the entire country had come together in fighting the epidemic. “This is one thing that the whole country came together, worked together. There was no issue of politics, there was no issue of religion, and there was no issue of ethnicity. In fact, that was why we were able to contain it. If Nigerians did not agree, we wouldn’t have succeeded”, he said. Jonathan also thanked all the governors, especially those of Lagos and Rivers States, for working with the federal government and setting up machinery to manage Ebola. On the September 22 schools’ resumption date, Jonathan pleaded with the Nigerian Union of Teachers to shelve plans to embark on strike, asking them to commend and work with his government. He said the NUT had no reason to threaten strike over Ebola as the decision to reopen schools on September 22 was taken at a meeting with state governors. According to him, if the government closes institutions because of Ebola, foreign envoys in Nigeria would send dispatches to their countries about it and that could aggravate the stigmatization against Nigerians going there. http://endougs..com/2014/09/nigeria-is-now-free-from-deadly-disease.html |
Veteran indigenous rapper, Lord Of Ajasa in a new interview with Punch has said today’s musicians do not deserve the endorsements they get. Read his interview with Punch below. “I pioneered indigenous rap music and today it has become lucrative and fashionable. Yet, these young musicians shy away from that fact. They try to hide it. If I don’t blow my trumpet, nobody will do it. But I deserve an award, recognition and endorsement because a lot of people look up to me as their mentor… “Look at Eedris Abdulkareem and 9ice, for instance. I’m saying they should take care of the pioneers, but what impact have these new artistes really made in the society to deserve all the endorsements they are getting? I mean, they sing nonsense songs while we (pioneers) do evergreen and clean music. Yet they keep discouraging us. 2face is an exception I am okay with his brand of music, because his endorsements are well-deserved.” On why he left the music scene for a while; “I left the music scene after I got married in 2009 to delve into other business. I started this movement long before these small boys emerged on the scene and I paved the way for many of them. When I began, I didn’t know anything about music and entertainment. I was simply making music for the love of it, while 9ice and Olamide were following my footsteps. Whenever I made a mistake, they learned from it and got better. I was just a naïve village boy who came down to Lagos from Ondo State with no guidance. I never knew the big names in Nigerian entertainment at the time,” When asked why he dissed 9ice, Olamide and Seriki in his new song, ‘Otalenu’, he said, “I did not yab them on the track, they are all small boys who all began their music career in my room in Bariga. I was only trying to draw them closer to myself and to let other people know that I am their Baba. The jabs are just part of the hip hop culture and they spice up the lyrics.” http://endougs..com/2014/09/9ice-and-olamide-started-their-career.html |

A court martial has sentenced 12 Nigerian soldiers fighting Islamic extremists to death by firing squad for mutiny and attempted murder of their commanding officer. In a decision announced early on Tuesday, a military tribunal found 12 soldiers guilty and five others innocent. All the accused denied the charges. The soldiers accused their commanders of conspiring to kill fellow troopers after a convoy was ambushed on 13 May on a road frequently attacked by the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram. They were driving from Chibok, the north-eastern town from which more than 270 schoolgirls were kidnapped a month earlier. When the soldiers’ bodies were brought to north-eastern Maiduguri city, the surviving soldiers revolted, throwing stones at their commanding officer and then shooting at him. The officer took refuge in an armoured vehicle and was unharmed. http://endougs..com/2014/09/12-soldiers-sentenced-to-death-for.html |
Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, famously called ‘ Patoranking’ is one of the fastest rising acts in the Nigerian music industry at the moment. Born May 27, 1990, Patoranking is a reggae-dancehall artiste and often describes himself as the next big thing after Bob Marley. Wayne Rooney nets his 175th league goal in win against QPR to draw level with Thierry Henry as the Premier League's joint third highest all-time top goalscorer Wayne Rooney has drawn level with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry as the Premier League's joint third highest goalscorer after the Manchester United captain netted in his side's emphatic 4-0 win over Queens Park Rangers. The former Everton forward reached the landmark in 377 appearances, whereas Henry took just 258. http://endougs..com/2014/09/rooney-equals-henrys-record.html |
Sidney Onoriode Esiri, son of late legendary actor, Justus Esiri a.k.a Dr Sid is definitely having himself a ball with life. Aside his booming career, the singer just married the love of his life, Simi Osomo and the icing on the cake came for him when telecom giant, MTN slammed him with a multimillion naira ambassadorial deal. The cool-headed singer who confided in Potpourri that he is having a blissful marriage experience said the Mavin crew are all a big family. Also speaking on his hit single Surulere, the singer told us the inspiration behind the song. “Obviously some people were mistaking Surulere thinking we were talking about Surulere, the area. It does work on two levels” he said We hail the people from Surulere because even I, as an artiste, when I started out in music with Trybe Records, we were based in Surulere. Surulere basically means ‘Patience is rewarding’ and it’s just a song that describes the journey of Dr Sid; Where I’ve been, where I’m at right now, where I’m going to, that’s the idea. We’re trying to create a song that could capture that experience and we also wanted to make a song that people can relate to. When you listen to the song it speaks to something in your soul and hopefully, it would inspire you and motivate you to push and keep working harder”. http://endougs..com/2014/09/the-surulere-story-dr-sid.html |
Louis van Gaal admits he is extremely worried about the number of injuries his Manchester United players are suffering. Van Gaal will be without nine senior players for Sunday's match against Queens Park Rangers due to injury. The treatment room was even busier before the international break, when Luke Shaw and Rafael were also out. Van Gaal's predecessor David Moyes had to do without key players at times last year and the Dutchman is worried about the trend. "This is a big concern, you are right, I think," the United manager said when it was put to him that United had suffered a lot of injuries in recent years. Ashley Young was the latest first-team player to join the injury list this week when he suffered a groin problem. Van Gaal demands a high level of intensity from his players in training, but the former Bayern Munich manager appears unwilling to reduce the workload on his squad. "We have to evaluate how we train, but for the level I demand as a coach we need to train like that," said Van Gaal, who often puts his players through double sessions. "But the players have to adapt to that level and that's the crucial thing. "Because we have to grow and develop ourselves to the top of this sport, the Premier League. "But I am always evaluating myself. That philosophy has brought a lot of titles, I'm sorry to say that." Chris Smalling, James Wilson, Sam Johnstone, Reece James, Jesse Lingard, Michael Carrick, Young and Marouane Fellaini are unavailable for the visit of QPR. Phil Jones is also set for a month-long layoff due to a hamstring injury he suffered during England's 2-0 win over Switzerland on Monday. After taking his summer spending past the 150 million-pound mark last week, Van Gaal still has plenty of options available though. Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Shaw could all make their first appearances for the club. Palmer: Five big names with new Prem teams Transfer Grades: Europe's winners and losers Van Gaal: Now we need results The United boss was giving little away regarding whether star striker Radamel Falcao would make his debut following his loan move from Monaco. "I cannot tell if you he plays or not, because that's our surprise," Van Gaal said. Falcao has only played 217 minutes for club and country since he suffered a serious knee injury in January. Van Gaal has no idea how long it will take for the Colombian to get back to his best. "That's a question we cannot answer," Van Gaal added. "That's also dependant on form, shape and we cannot predict that." http://endougs..com/2014/09/louis-van-gaal-admits-he-is-extremely.html |
