Izuchukwu70:Where did I say that cost of road construction in the north and south are same? If 1 trillion can be spent to build a <50km road, that means spending about same amount for a longer road is possible. |
BlackKafka:That benefits only Lagos. Coastal railway crosses up to 9 states |
It's unfortunate that Tinubu decided to build a coastal road rather than the coastal railway which if far more beneficial |
They devalued the Naira and are now complaining when contractors submit large variations! Isn't it same govt that is spending over 1 trillion Naira for a less than 50km coastal road Phase 1? Julius Berger are not known for playing politics with contracts. They do their work as fast as they get paid, and leave the site. But Umahi is said to have an axe to grind with the company. He's frustrating them in all their projects - Bodo Bonny road, 2nd Niger Bridge and Abuja Kano road. |
Showers ke! Something that a retiree can't get up to 5m after 35 years in service? Politicians have bastardised the civil service. They now use payment of salaries and pensions as tools to win elections |
NRC needs to be unbundled. It shouldn't be operator and regulator. Failure to do early will result into us wasting billions in building railway system. The Warri Itakpe railway is currently falling apart due to NRC lackadaisical attitude to maintenance |

Some of you guys are too mumuish. Even from the context, you should have known that the usage of innovation here is not the general meaning. Here, it means innovation in the matters of religion. Anything that is backed by the religious books is rebuffed else the religion will metamorphosis into sth entirely different within few decades. |
These are good gestures that are soothing to the ears. Love it |
Vision101:If the dollar were stable, who will bother to go through this hassle? |
naijaboy756:For example, if you plan to save 10k daily. By month end, you'll have 300k. Go to BDC and change to dollars. Do same for the other months. You might even elect to do it on a weekly or fortnightly basis. By the end of the day you'll realise that the Naira must have lost hundreds against the Dollar within a short period of time. |
She do lose value sha. It isn't wise to save in Naira these days except if it's for a few days time. Better one buys a commodity say maize and sell it off later when ready. Or convert the little savings to USD at the end of every month, and reconvert back to Naira at the end of the target date. |
kenny714433:You've got their antics. The road will never connect to Calabar. Infact it's not even needed. What the south south needs is a railway connection to Lagos and Abuja. But Tinubu and his minions know the backlash they'll face if they say they'll construct a coastal road from VI to Ogun and Ondo, thus they quickly appended Calabar to deceive SSers |
If you're talking about good roads both in urban and rural areas, then the top 5 must include Gombe, Jigawa and Katsina, and Akwa Ibom. And all those populous states no follow including Abuja because there are many terrible roads outside the city centres |
Exousiang01:Did you care to read the full article? Abi na headline you dey follow? |
Earlier in Tinubu's tenure, I was hailing Umahi but I've reversed it. Of all the so called priority projects, none will even go halfway completion even if Tinubu gets a second term. |
Why is the man tainted by the media as uneducated? I believe because of his poor public speaking skills. I hope he works on it as it is critical to deliver on his role. |
Incisive analysis. Well done |
I think there is a group here on Nairaland that helps to break that addiction. Check here https://www.nairaland.com/5223408/masturbation-quitting-challenge-thread#78979897 May God cure you of this dangerous addiction |
As usual,Kukah is stoking religious emotions to deepen the divide between northern muslims and christians. There's nothing in what he stated that is also not meted to Muslims-without consequence. Thousands of muslims have been killed in several states ranging from ethnic, religious, Boko Haram and banditry. Muslim bandits kill muslim farmer and herders. But when same criminals kill christians, people like Kukah claim that they are been annihilated. As long as Kukah and co continue to propagate their bile, we should forget about a cohesive Nigeria. |
This is not true. Even in the 90s, the rich man's parlour contained ornate furniture and lush carpets. The picture you put here can even be found in some face me I face you houses, the ones with room and parlor. |
Abeg how is that a solution to the brain drain? You'll only be replacing professionals with neophytes. Thus at some point, few professionals might be available to transfer the relevant knowledge. Also, why will an institution established by a state govt be calling for FG intervention when their state governor is few kilometres away? The governors create all sorts of institutions to score political points yet refuse to provide adequate funding. As it stands today, most state universities can't thrive without TETFUND support. This is nothing but lethargy by the state governors. |
For someone to stay in such a place for thirty years flips to bare his scarcity mindset. The man need to be pursued from that place.. If it were a recent immigrant hustler who sleeps under the bridge, it's understandable in a place like Lagos. But not for a man who earns at least 150k a month! |
Fulfulde and French |
Assalamu alaykum, I intend to do a thread on my experience during the 2024 Hajj that was completed about a couple of months ago. |
Hmmm. Our leaders will just be signing agreements without knowing the import, all in the craze to get FDI. If you make your business climate favorable, investors will come trooping so far as they see a viable market. |
This Shuaibu is a dogged fighter just like the proverbial cat with 9 lives. I can't remembered any deputy governor who stood up to his boss like Shuaibu is doing |
It's more of an embarrassment to Nigeria than any other African country. How can one explain a population of more than 100 million agile youth, yet lacking in sporting feats! I'm not a sports person but I think we need to go back to the grassroots. |
I don't believe this story. We all saw the picture of the boy gunned down in his street not on a main road. |
MyExpression:You get sense. Though the wheel barrows weren't even for such purpose, but I see nothing wrong in doing it so far as a need was identified. I don't know the price of a barrow but I believe it is up to a 100k. A wb pusher in good location will make nothing less than 3k daily which is enough to for them to take basic meals and save a little. It's far better than sitting idly in the streets or committing petty crimes |
Constructing roads with closed drainage is possible in Nigeria-and it's done in some major roads across most states. However, the problem lies in how well it fares. The gutters get blocked by plastic waste and when it rains the storm water flows on the road instead of the drains. You'll see a lot of this when you visit big cities like Kano. For closed drains to work well in Nigeria, the usage of plastic packs must be heavily regulated just like it is done in Rwanda. |
That's a better system of palliative distribution instead of doing it through politicians. I surmise that at least 80% will reach the targeted population. |
