PoliticsRe: FG Revokes Part Of Julius Berger’s Contract On Abuja-Kaduna Highway by Energist: 3:11pm On Oct 18, 2024
Izuchukwu70:

You know nothing about civil engineering. But down sir. Cost per km of roads in the north is always less than cost per km of roads in the south because of some things beyond your knowledge.
Where did I say that cost of road construction in the north and south are same?
If 1 trillion can be spent to build a <50km road, that means spending about same amount for a longer road is possible.

You do realize that there is a railway incorporated into the design of the coastal road that terminates at Jakande?
That benefits only Lagos. Coastal railway crosses up to 9 states
TravelRe: LASG Conducts Site Visitation For Green Line Rail Project. by Energist: 5:57am On Oct 18, 2024
It's unfortunate that Tinubu decided to build a coastal road rather than the coastal railway which if far more beneficial
PoliticsRe: FG Revokes Part Of Julius Berger’s Contract On Abuja-Kaduna Highway by Energist: 10:59pm On Oct 17, 2024
They devalued the Naira and are now complaining when contractors submit large variations! Isn't it same govt that is spending over 1 trillion Naira for a less than 50km coastal road Phase 1?
Julius Berger are not known for playing politics with contracts. They do their work as fast as they get paid, and leave the site. But Umahi is said to have an axe to grind with the company. He's frustrating them in all their projects - Bodo Bonny road, 2nd Niger Bridge and Abuja Kano road.

NRC needs to be unbundled. It shouldn't be operator and regulator. Failure to do early will result into us wasting billions in building railway system. The Warri Itakpe railway is currently falling apart due to NRC lackadaisical attitude to maintenance

Some of you guys are too mumuish. Even from the context, you should have known that the usage of innovation here is not the general meaning. Here, it means innovation in the matters of religion. Anything that is backed by the religious books is rebuffed else the religion will metamorphosis into sth entirely different within few decades.

You can see that we are all enemies of naira. Government should ban circulation of dollar in this country and the value of naira will go up.
If the dollar were stable, who will bother to go through this hassle?

naijaboy756:
How please?
For example, if you plan to save 10k daily. By month end, you'll have 300k. Go to BDC and change to dollars. Do same for the other months. You might even elect to do it on a weekly or fortnightly basis. By the end of the day you'll realise that the Naira must have lost hundreds against the Dollar within a short period of time.
BusinessRe: Nigerian Woman Amasses ₦4.2m In Her Savings Box After 9 Months(pics, vid) by Energist: 1:04pm On Oct 03, 2024
She do lose value sha. It isn't wise to save in Naira these days except if it's for a few days time. Better one buys a commodity say maize and sell it off later when ready. Or convert the little savings to USD at the end of every month, and reconvert back to Naira at the end of the target date.
PoliticsRe: Phase One Of Lagos-calabar Highway Will Be Completed In 2025 - Umahi by Energist: 7:31am On Sep 29, 2024
kenny714433:
When Calabar section? Still soon?

Scammers!

They're using 1 year to construct 47KM of a highway that's 700KM.

The portion being constructed is just a plain topography that needs just excavation and filling.

When it gets to Akwa Ibom/Cross Rivers section that would need Cut and fill, river fillings, bridge construction and massive swamp filling, it will take them 1000 years.

Reasons they're running away from this section. They just want to construct road through the Yoruba states and abandon it.
You've got their antics. The road will never connect to Calabar. Infact it's not even needed. What the south south needs is a railway connection to Lagos and Abuja. But Tinubu and his minions know the backlash they'll face if they say they'll construct a coastal road from VI to Ogun and Ondo, thus they quickly appended Calabar to deceive SSers

If you're talking about good roads both in urban and rural areas, then the top 5 must include Gombe, Jigawa and Katsina, and Akwa Ibom. And all those populous states no follow including Abuja because there are many terrible roads outside the city centres

Christianity EtcRe: You Can Kill Christians In Northern Nigeria Without Consequences - Bishop Kukah by Energist: 12:50pm On Aug 25, 2024
As usual,Kukah is stoking religious emotions to deepen the divide between northern muslims and christians. There's nothing in what he stated that is also not meted to Muslims-without consequence. Thousands of muslims have been killed in several states ranging from ethnic, religious, Boko Haram and banditry. Muslim bandits kill muslim farmer and herders. But when same criminals kill christians, people like Kukah claim that they are been annihilated. As long as Kukah and co continue to propagate their bile, we should forget about a cohesive Nigeria.

EducationRe: Kwara Health College Provost Proffers Suggestion On Addressing “Jappa” Syndrome by Energist: 6:24am On Aug 21, 2024
Abeg how is that a solution to the brain drain? You'll only be replacing professionals with neophytes. Thus at some point, few professionals might be available to transfer the relevant knowledge.

Also, why will an institution established by a state govt be calling for FG intervention when their state governor is few kilometres away? The governors create all sorts of institutions to score political points yet refuse to provide adequate funding. As it stands today, most state universities can't thrive without TETFUND support. This is nothing but lethargy by the state governors.
TravelRe: Man Who Has Lived Under A Lagos Bridge For 30 Years Speaks With BBC Reporter by Energist: 10:14pm On Aug 17, 2024
For someone to stay in such a place for thirty years flips to bare his scarcity mindset. The man need to be pursued from that place.. If it were a recent immigrant hustler who sleeps under the bridge, it's understandable in a place like Lagos. But not for a man who earns at least 150k a month!

PoliticsRe: Governor Abba Yusuf Inspects Wheelbarrows For Empowerment In Kano (Video) by Energist: 9:48am On Aug 07, 2024
MyExpression:
I once had the opinion that giving out Wheel barrow was a bad economic empowerment program, but all that changed when I understood the place of wheel barrow pushers in the transport and supply chain.

Wheel barrows are very useful in congested markets...and even here in Abuja, we use Wheel barrows to sell bags of sachet water within densely populated areas without good road network...and boy, we are cashing out...the barrow pushers are also cashing out too.
For a place like Lugbe, Nyanya, kubwa... we don't spend on fuel...Young boys come to the factory with their barrows to buy water at factory price, and supply to those in the community.
Each small barrow carries 10bags, while big long truck carries 25bags.

I kid you not, we sell up to 300 bags daily, just from the factory...no other expense.
My boos money dey like blood money, but when I came into the system and saw the code, na then I believe say my boss na genius.
This same system is replicated in other areas that we got depots.
One trip with bus, drop 500bags...barrow sells off in 2days.

My point is...for various strata of the economic class, different empowerment schemes can be applied.
You get sense. Though the wheel barrows weren't even for such purpose, but I see nothing wrong in doing it so far as a need was identified. I don't know the price of a barrow but I believe it is up to a 100k. A wb pusher in good location will make nothing less than 3k daily which is enough to for them to take basic meals and save a little. It's far better than sitting idly in the streets or committing petty crimes
PoliticsRe: Why Is It ROCKET SCIENCE For State Governors To Build Their Roads Like THIS? by Energist: 6:01am On Aug 07, 2024
Constructing roads with closed drainage is possible in Nigeria-and it's done in some major roads across most states. However, the problem lies in how well it fares. The gutters get blocked by plastic waste and when it rains the storm water flows on the road instead of the drains. You'll see a lot of this when you visit big cities like Kano. For closed drains to work well in Nigeria, the usage of plastic packs must be heavily regulated just like it is done in Rwanda.
PoliticsRe: Vandalized Residence In Edo Owned By Christian Feeding Programme - CAN by Energist: 6:05am On Aug 02, 2024
That's a better system of palliative distribution instead of doing it through politicians. I surmise that at least 80% will reach the targeted population.
