PoliticsRe: Shettima Recognises Sanusi As Emir Of Kano (Photo) by Energist: 10:14pm On Nov 17, 2024
If he were to address the other emir, he'll use same title *Emir of Kano*. Because as it stands in eye of the law, both of them are emirs of Kano

PoliticsRe: Those Importing PMS Cheaper Than Ours Are Selling Substandard Products – Dangote by Energist: 7:07am On Nov 04, 2024
People are now seeing through the antics of Dangote. He is all out to get mega profits from the plant. Has little or no concern about its affordability despite the fact that the Nigerian govt gave him billions of CBN rate dollars to build the refinery
PoliticsRe: Umahi Orders Security To Walkout Woman During Live Show by Energist: 7:04am On Nov 04, 2024
Very arrogant minister. I used to rate him, until he became a minister in this govt. Man is just shaming himself up and down claiming professionalism
PoliticsRe: We Are Tired Of Seeing Bridges In The North. Give Us Infrastructure - Lady Says by Energist: 9:17pm On Nov 02, 2024
Not just the North, it's everywhere. Most of the bridges are afterthought-they were never in the city master plan if there's anything like that. I prefer those Abuja bridges wey fit no know say you're atop one, because they were intentional about their inclusion

I prefer the likes of Wike and Elrufai as leaders. At this point in our development, an element of force is badly needed to put Nigerians in control.

PoliticsRe: Tinubu’s New Ministerial List Breaches Federal Character Principle – Ozekhome by Energist: 1:28pm On Oct 28, 2024
More than six decades post independence, we still follow our primordial desires in making appointments. Every leader flocks his kinsmen around him, indicating lack of trust. The If it were really for competence and delivery, I don't mind flouting the federal character system. Unfortunately, it is not.
PoliticsRe: Bad Roads: Umahi Has No Plan For Nigeria – NASS Blats Minister Of Works by Energist: 4:13pm On Oct 27, 2024
Ikaeniyan0:
The lawmakers are not reasonable. Umahi should fix all the roads in Nigeria in less than 24 month.
Nobody said that. The thrust of the discussion is that Umahi is putting the scarce resources we have into less or non priority projects like the Coastal Road and Sokoto Badagry road. There is no sense in neglecting critical roads that stimulate the national economy, and embarking on new projects

Lithiumite:
How is a director in the fed ministry of education be principal of a sec school? Can someone pls explain.
That's how the unity schools currently operate. Though I can't say whether all the principals are Directors. It's a good decision because thecore Directorate roles at the ministry of education are far less than the supply. Instead of such personnel to be left hanging around, it's better they continue to add value in the various schools around.

PoliticsWhich Politicians Have Ever Served Their Jail Terms Fully? by Energist(op): 8:41pm On Oct 22, 2024
It's no news that Farouk Lawan, the erstwhile charismatic legislator, breathed the oxygen of freedom today. After serving a jail term of five years, he was released from the Kuje Correctional facilities.

I'm just curious. Is there any other Nigerian politician since 1999, apart from Farouk Lawan, who has served a full jail term? If yes, mention his name and the circumstances that led to his detention. If No, what is the reason for corrupt politicians and public servants find their way out of conve?

PoliticsRe: We Will Withdraw Court Case Against NNPCL, Others – Dangote Refinery by Energist: 6:46am On Oct 22, 2024
stuffs2002:
I also thought taking the NNPCL to court was not a very smart move by the Dangote Refineries

NNPCL as a regulator are very strategic and dealing with them may require caution because these guys are not profit oriented unlike Dangote who is all about profits. Dragging long cases in court will have little or no effect on NNPCL but that will cripple Dangote Refineries.

Dangote should try to resolve all cases out of court with other players in the oil field particularly the regulators as excessive court cases have been known to destroy business.

Lastly, Dangote should be wary of all those SANs and other lawyers who are quick to want to go to court because those guys only care about being paid and the more cases in court, the more their legal fees
NNPC is not a regulator o, but an operator. I learnt it is also regulated by NUPRC and NMDPRA.
BusinessRe: Dangote Refinery Asks Court To Void Import Licenses Of NNPCL, Matrix, 4 Others by Energist: 9:29pm On Oct 21, 2024
Eteka1:
Most of you shouting monopoly don't understand the implications of continuing importation of petroleum products.

40% of the pressure on forex in Nigeria is for the importation of refined petroleum products

- Dangote currently refines enough products to meet domestic consumption and to spare.

- If Nigeria stops imports of refined petroleum products, the pressure on our forex will be reduced by as much as 40% leading to the massive appreciation of the Naira.

- A barrel of crude oil currently sells for about $80 per barrel. With the exchange rate hovering around N1,700 to a Dollar. When pressure is reduced on our forex as a result of an end to imports of refined products, the Naira can appreciate to about N1000 to a USD. That means refineries in Nigeria will need less Naira to buy each barrel of Crude oil. This will lead to a drop in pump prices and inflation.

- by continuing to issue licences to import refined petroleum products, NNPC is killing our economy.

This nonsense has to stop
Your postulation is only bookish. It's a similar argument that got Nigerians deceived about the fuel subsidy. They removed it yet we saw no appreciation of the Naira

PoliticsRe: Kaduna LG Poll: APC Wins All Chairmanship, Councillorship Seats by Energist: 10:25pm On Oct 19, 2024
Uba Sani knew that his party will lose majority seats if he allowed the election to hold. Some months ago, he asked the state assembly to amend the clause that allowed for electronic voting (under which the opposition won many seats during Elrufai's administration).
Trouble began when the SIECOM refused to release result sheets to the various election centres. Yesterday's night, The opposition had stormed the commission's headquarters protesting but to no avail. Today, they deliberately refused to deliver any election materials to the polling units. Some few ones got later in the late hours of the day. Infact, voting was still ongoing in these few areas when they heard that the election has been concluded and APC had won all the seats. What a sham!
