PoliticsRe: Paying ₦‎30,000 Was A Struggle, I Cannot Pay ₦‎70,000 - Inuwa Yahaya by Energist: 3:50pm On Jul 31, 2024
ifytrik:
I don't understand what this people mean by we can not pay 70 thousand naira minimum wage, is it that the institution managed by this workers are unproductive or what? If yes then why run an institution that is not productive? Just for employment sake? The main reason people choose private school over government school today is not because their are no learned teachers in government schools, as a matter of fact their are more qualified teachers in government schools than private, the problem is this government schools just like any other government institution in the country are not properly managed, most government school teachers only attend classes once or twice in a week, same with headmasters and principals, who will punish the teachers for not attending classes? It the principal that's also at home? Or the Education ministry workers that are also at home? The problem of Nigeria is nobody is ready to carry out his duty, majority of the so-called workers that are clamouring for minimum wage increase are not doing their work.
To solve this problems once and forever, any political office holder that is underperforming should be voted out, any voter that collect bribe before casting his or her vote should be giving one hundred strokes of cain, any institution that is not productive should be scrapped and workers that are not performing their duties properly should be laid of.
Oga, calm down, do you expect teachers and health workers or nominal civil servants to generate revenue?

The governor might have a point. But he needs to be transparent with the earnings of the state vs the number of workforce

Many confuse market leaders to Monopolist. Like you opined , dangote doesn't have monopoly in any sector not even in salt production.
Nigerian needs laws to make sure no one monopolies any industry if we don't already.
Exactly. The FCCPC was established to curb such unethical practices. But I don't know how strong they are to implement the law to the letter.

am sure you are aware of all his tactics meted on BUA during the cement increment saga and how he bought and frustrated the company from the market so as to increase the price of it
If those acts are really true, then you can't categorise them as monopoly. You can say 'anti-competition' or 'anti-trust' practices. I know not of any sector where Dangote has a monopoly.

The monopoly of the Dangote in the many sectors need to be challenged and frown upon so as to create room for local and foreign investors
Monopoly as how? Are BUA and Lafarge not players in the same industry?

NYSC camp is the most exciting part of the exercise. Meeting new people, morning jogging, drills, mammy market, room gists etc. What I didn't like were: SAED, bad toilets, pple bathing outdoors, immoral stuff by some corpers

Too many vehicles in the convoy.
At least, Tanzania elected a woman as President.
Nigeria will not elect a woman President, even hundred years from now because of the type of Islam practiced in the sharia states of northern Nigeria.
You must find sth to rope in Northern Nigeria abi? How comes your female leader -conscious states are yet to elect a female governor?
Foreign AffairsRe: Trending Video Of Tanzanian Pres. Samia Suluhu & Her Convoy (video) by Energist: 7:27pm On Jul 23, 2024
It's a cultural thing. Africans are too flamboyant. Unfortunately, they mirrored that behavior in governance

Lol. Even if you weigh the claim logically, e no make sense. How will someone use armpit to roll a snack? Is it faster? More comfortable? Some mischievous people were promoting such claims due to tribalism or at least stereotype. Just because a few engage in sth bad, doesn't mean you should label a thousand with same. This message applies to all tribes, religions etc

What's the fuss all about? I think Akpabio misunderstood the submission of the senator. She didn't call for the FG to intervene in reconstruction of the burnt market, but clearly sought the help of FCDA and AMAC. Let's not make stir storms in a tea cup

It Will only end up being an added revenue mobilisation agency. We're in Nigeria. They can empower the current ministry of transportation, FRSC, vio,etc to carry out the functions stated above.
I agree to an extent. Your fear is valid, but it can be addressed within the bill. The bill might propose to merge those agencies currently involved in some form of regulation in the road transport sector. Their scope of responsibilities will be widened without exerting huge burden on the populace.
PoliticsRe: "This Is Not A Nightclub", Akpabio Cautions Natasha Akpoti by Energist: 7:17am On Jul 19, 2024
That's a reckless statement. Akpabio did well as a governor, but his performance as minister and now legislator has been woeful. Talk about different strokes for different folks.

I haven't seen the content of the bill, though I can guesstimate that it is meant regulate the transport sector. I support it wholeheartedly. These are the bills that should grace the hallowed chambers, not those that massage the primordial egos of legislators. The road transport sector is the most patronised yet there's no regulation especially for commercial operators. Who licenses the likes of GUO, GIGM and those unnamed taxis? Who checks the vehicle conditions? What of the fitness of the drivers? Who sets the requirements for opening a commercial car park? Who enforces adherence to right tonnages?

The maritime sector is regulated by NIMASA and NIWA, aviation by NCAA. These two contribute to less than 5% share in Nigeria's transport system. I so submit that there's an urgent need to establish a regulatory agency to cater for road transport.
EducationRe: FG To Introduce New Curriculum For Secondary Schools by Energist: 11:00pm On Jul 18, 2024
All this clamor about new curriculum is exaggerated. The last time I checked the subjects offered in secondary school, I saw subjects like Marketing, Fisheries etc that are too specific at that level, and mostly not practicable. Tell me how many schools have a fish farm!
What I feel is needed is updating the textbooks due to advancement in knowledge although the basics remain the same. Technical education should be emphasised

Such topics promoting immorality shouldn't make front page. It irks me how some people will lure ladies to bed and then turn around to accuse the female folk that they are promiscuous. If you want a society with chaste and decent women, stop chasing women to hotels and brothels.

PoliticsRe: Following States Will Not Receive FAAC Allocations For Their LG By July Ending by Energist: 9:19pm On Jul 13, 2024
The states should be given short but realistic ultimatum to conduct the LG elections. If they don't, sanction should follow. Holding LG allocations because they don't have elected councils comes with a myriad of issues the major one being payment of LG employees (teachers, health workers etc)

Well, something must kill a man grin

Afterall, allah himself has created a portion of adultery for MOOslim men to indulge in:

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Allah fixed the very portion of adultery which a man will indulge in. There would be no escape from it. The adultery of the eye is the lustful look and the adultery of the ears is listening to voluptuous (song or talk) and the adultery of the tongue is licentious speech and the adultery of the hand is the lustful grip (embrace) and the adultery of the feet is to walk (to the place) where he intends to commit adultery and the heart yearns and desires which he may or may not put into effect.

To resume 10am na wahala for these guys. They don't necessarily go to the office every other day. Instead of being a lubricant for governance, the legislature has metamorphosed into an albatross. Most of the bills they push for these days centre around primordial interests - establishment of tertiary institutions in their villages, creation of states etc. The have deceitfully converted their oversight functions to hijack the budgets of MDAs - they pad their projects as they like depending on how strong the legislator is. Anytime I look at the FG budget, I further confirm that we are not even on course to see any light at the end of the tunnel. The earlier we realise this, the better for us

His past good deeds during his earthly sojourn are what will help him in the afterlife. No mausoleum, no vault, no whatsoever will be of benefit to him. One needs not to visit the grave of Yaradua to remember him. His memories are already ingrained in the hearts of millions of people.

Look at this picture of the resting place of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi King who died about a decade ago.

Saddening. We get to know about their deaths because of their professions. There are several hundred who get killed in such circumstances without us ever knowing. The country is not working. And sadly the citizens, not just the leaders, are culpable
