EducationHow TEF Alumnus, Zion Oshiobugie, Dreams Of Giving Free Education To Children by engrzion(op): 4:58pm On Aug 26, 2020
Zion Oshiobugie also known as the academic mentor is a professional career expert, Tony Elumelu Alumni, Tedx Speaker, motivational speaker, anti-drug abuse campaigner, on-air personality, established entrepreneur and a life coach with a dream to help over 20 million Orphans and Vulnerable African Children become problem solvers. A certified Alumnus of the Daystar leadership Academy, Zion is the founder of the Clever Minds Educational foundation which is dedicated to education, mentorship, capacity building, life skills development and vocational training for Orphans, Vulnerable and Underprivileged Children in Delta state, Nigeria.

One of the hallmarks of great entrepreneurs is their ability to sustain their vision and remain resolute even in the midst of setbacks until success comes.

The above best describes the life of Zion Oshiobugie who at one-time in his life got sacked by his employer, searched endlessly for another job but took up menial jobs to survive. Today, he has evolved from setback, to become a success story.

Zion Oshiobugie, a serial entrepreneur, is the founder of Clever Minds Integrated Services, a consultancy firm in started in 2017 in Delta State offering training and educational services.

His dream in the next 20years he says is to provide free education to at least 20million vulnerable children in Africa starting from Nigeria, his motherland.

Oshiobugie, narrating how it all started, says he was born in Kaduna State, Nigeria, to a middle-class family and as the second of five children he lived a reasonably simple and content life until things changed.

He says whilst growing up, his father lost his job back then and living became progressively hard, especially in light of the constant religious and political crisis that bedeviled Kaduna State. He explained that his family had to move to Warri in Delta State and his mother became a petty trader and each of his siblings took up menial jobs to survive.

He narrated further that he was not ashamed to carry cement blocks and assisted his mother to hawk plantain. He eventually became a houseboy for a distant relative. It was during this period he made the resolve to become successful.

The graduate of electrical engineering, who is a school proprietor school and branded himself as a social Edupreneur explained that his love for education dates back to 2010 whilst working as a school teacher.

“I first conceived the idea of starting a school in 2010 while working as a teacher in a private Secondary School in Warri. I noticed the lack of quality education in the riverine and poor communities in the Niger Delta. I was moved to tears and got stirred up to start a school that would provide the right facilities. However, I could not immediately implement my idea to start a school because of lack of funds. Not too long, I lost my job as a teacher. It was suicidal for me because I felt all hope was lost. I looked at the job and typical of people in paid employment, I saw it as my only source of livelyhood. I was depressed and frustrated.”

Interestingly for him, in 2014 he got another job offer as an On-Air Personality in a radio station but that would not last for long as his desire to solve a problem in the education sector hunted him.

In 2017, Oshiobugie voluntarily exited his radio job to found Cleverminds Nursery and Primary School to cater to needs of orphans and the vulnerable.

“I opened my school in Edjeba community of Warri, a poor community in Delta state, offering quality education for a very cheap amount and free for orphans.

The vision is to make education affordable for low income families where they’ll access free Nursery and primary school. Today we are up and running with more than 167 pupils.”

The Cleverminds founder says his goal is to educate over 20 million children in the next 20 years and to use education as a tool to end poverty and joblessness.

Today, the Tony Elumelu foundation and Young Africa Leadership Initiative (YALI) alumnus, says he understands that life challenges are surmountable. He advises that one must be are armed with the right information and surround himself with the right mentors.

“I learnt that things happen in life and it’s just life we have to deal with it. I also learnt to respect my parents because when these things happened to me, I lost everything except the love of my parents and the mercy of God. I have failed at other little things but I have succeeded in more things.”

The Cleverminds founder has for his hardwork and contribution to the educational sector received several awards and recognition amongst them are the Pace Awards for Mentoring and Educational development, by the Delta State Ministry of Education, The Governor of Delta State and as Glazia person of the year (2017) alongside other top players in the industry, his transformational work in the educational sector has also been recognized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

On his advice to budding entrepreneurs, the academic mentor says: “Be a problem solver not a job seeker; think of a problem you can solve that can help millions of people and you will definitely become rich. Gone are the days where you graduate from school and get a readymade job, it’s now the turn of entrepreneurs and problem solvers.”

EducationFormer House-help Appreciates Ex-boss Who Sponsored His Education by engrzion(op):
Nigerian man publicly appreciates his former boss who took him in as a househelp 14 years ago and paid his way through school

An educationist in Delta state, Zion Oshiobugie, has taken to his Facebook page to thank his former boss who took him in as a houseboy 14 years ago and ensured he got the education his biological children got as well. Read what Zion wrote below'

14 years ago, December 2004 to be precise I came to warri, Delta State to be the house boy (Domestic help) of @ndonyeka (Engr Nnamdi Onyeka & Dr Mrs Stephanie Onyeka).

D8 iffie estate, refinery road by Mega Hilton hotel was the house I stayed for 4 years. Engr Nnamdi never saw me as a second class citizen and as such he sent me to school instead of paying my parents for my service. I obtained OND from the petroleum training institute, Effurun while in his house as a domestic help. He payed my way through school. I stayed as his domestic help for 4 years 2004-2008.

Education unlocked my mind and broke the chains of poverty from my life hence my resolve to provide quality education for 20 million underprivileged children and orphans in my life time.

Long story short it's 14 years down the line and I still remian grateful for all you did for me sir. Help say a word of appreciation to him.

I end with a quote from mother Theresa. ' Love is not patronizing and charity isn't about pity, it is about love. Charity and love are the same -- with charity you give love, so don't just give money but reach out your hand instead'.

RomanceLove! Look What You Made Me Do. by engrzion(op): 6:17am On Apr 12, 2018
We need more people to counsel our young ones as we seem to be doing little or nothing to check this menace of suicide amongst teenagers because of what they call love. I really don't mean to judge any teenager or to question their feelings but I am keen to challenge elders to rise up and become mentors to teenagers not tormentors, we need more people to teach sex education, we need to mentor our boys on the need to respect a woman and not rape, we need to teach our young girls the difference between lust, infatuation and love.

The moral bankruptcy in the society is really high, all they see is people kissing, romance shows etc.
Yes! You have raised your own child well, he/she has the ethos and moral values of a true believer, you sent them to the best schools etc but if you don't care for and mentor the child in the ghetto, the society is not still free. I was in iyara the other day to talk to a group of boys who already have gone way too far in the use of hard drugs and what we call igbo(Marijuana) and all they said to me was "bros if you talk finish you go commot, when we go see another bros like you for the area to reason us".
This is a clarion call to you, it's a call for action, it's a call to save our generation and the next, it's not a call to preach or condemn, it's a call to mentor, a call to uphold, a call to believe so much in a bad boy/girl that you are willing to sacrifice the time to make him a good boy /girl.
It's easy to say children of these days are bad, they are spoilt, in our time it was not like this, but the question is : what have you done? who have you mentored, who have you corrected. We can do more.
So in the name of love a teenager committed suicide in a secondary school we all know, all in the name of love teenagers now disrespect Elders, have casual sex, have no regard for virginity. What has love made us do?

The society is the way it is not because people are violent but because too many people are silent. Use this platform to give your piece of advice to teenagers, drop a comment, share this post! It starts with you.

EducationHow To Fund Your Tetiary Education by engrzion(op): 6:08am On Apr 12, 2018

Funding your tertiary education!
Mr Zion i have finally gotten admission into school, thank you for all you have been doing for students, thanks for helping me have faith in myself, thanks for all your seminars but i dont have money to pay School fees and other fees. Kindly help me. I get this request from loads of students who flood my inbox to ask me for money. I help some but most atimes i cant help all because of commitments and other factors hence i decided to put up a seminar to address this issue once and for all.

Students drop out of school because they dont have money, many becasue they dont have a source of livelyhood, others lost their dad, mum, uncle or relative that was finicially supportive. Its hard to do school alone, its hard when you dont have support but I believe that every one should have equal access to education despite their financial background. I paid my way through HND in petroleum training institute effurun, where I studied electrical engineering (Electronic and telecoms).
I will be taking students through ways they can also so the same. This seminar is borne out of the need to help students from finicially disadvantaged backgrounds and also finicially enlighten those from rich homes.

You would learn
How to access scholarships
Service business you can start as a student
How to build relationship, social and mental capital
Banks that help you
Maximizing Your talent/gift & lots more

EducationWhat Is Wrong With You? by engrzion(op): 11:57am On Apr 02, 2018
What is wrong with you?
'You talk to much, sit down and shut up zion....' Words from Mrs maimuna my primary school teacher after several series of flogging, scolding and most times humiliation and scorn from my class mates at medi nursery and primary school, ungwan Sunday, Kaduna state.

The endless reports from teachers to my parents about how me and group of others just can't keep shut in class. My mother will always yell at me 'zion what is wrong with you?'

I never quite understood the narrative because if I should be mute for a long while I would really feel sick. Talking came to me naturally as such when I engaged in it, I came alive.

It went on with me even as an engineering student in the petroleum training institute effurun most of my course mates would always be amazed at the eagerness to talk and ask 'zion what's wrong with you? Can't you be quiet for one second.

The problem: most students have been talked out of their natural gift and talent just because there is a way society wants us to behave so we can be seen as mature or responsible. Many have lost the child in them because adulthood have over taken them.

Your gift is the thing you do the absolute best with the least amount of effort. What if my teacher did mentor me on communication and how to talk meaningfully? What if she was trained not to just teach but recognize, help and nurture talents? Guess she wasn't. Guess even my mum was wrong on this one because fast forward to 2013 till date I am now using talking to impact the lives of people all over.

Eventually what was wrong with me has now become right with me. Stay strong, keep dreaming, keep believing don't let no one steal you dream.

EducationI Will Rise Again! by engrzion(op): 4:18pm On Dec 07, 2017
Stop waiting for people's approval before you live your dreams, stop seeking endless opinion in disguise for planning, If you have kept your dream in the locker this year and not done anything about it then brush it off and start work now.
You deserve your dream because the dream chose you.
If it makes you happy, if it is your passion then no one else opinion should matter except God.

Most people are happy when you fall, most of them make it their personal business to stop you from acheiving your dreams and goals. I dont mind you falling, But all i ask is that you RISE. Its not a crime not to achieve your dream but its fatal not to have any dream to aim at. You can still dream again, You can still Rise again. Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy. Though I fall I will rise; Though I dwell in darkness, the LORD is a light for me.

Most people are waiting to see you fail: Prove them Wrong!

I write to you who is currently contemplating ending it, i write to you who is sad and have your head down in shame of loss, debt, sorrow, heartbreak, jobloss or any thing that makes you feel like the year has not been your year. Dont stress over the past its gone, dont fret over the future it hasnt arrived, make good use of the present and have a great life today.

There is Greatness inside of you! Its possible you can still achieve your dream. Minimize your regrets, Live your dreams

EducationHow I Met Mr Tony Elumelu, CON (dreams Come True) by engrzion(op): 7:03am On Mar 18, 2017
Let me Clearly state that it all happened on Twitter, I kept twitting till i got an invitation to meet him. There is power in social media

You will be a greater Tony Elumelu!

“Who dash monkey banana” the exact words that one of my close friends told me when I told him last year (2016) that I would one day meet, greet, shake hands and seat with my mentor Mr. Tony Elumelu, CON. Most times you must avoid negative people, no matter who they are or what they mean to you. If a person is negative he/she will poison your dream with so much negativity that it would only take the grace of God for you to believe again. Your inner voice must also be told to shut up anytime it speaks negative.

One of my biggest goal for 2016 was to meet with Tony Elumelu, CON. I have always admired him as a father, brother, teacher, entrepreneur and friend. His thirst for Africapitalism, philanthropy and Entrepreneurship overwhelms me. I placed his picture on my vision board, used it as my screen saver, and followed him on all social media platforms, sent out one tweet almost every week to him but it still didn’t happen in 2016. Someone said courage is going from failure to failure and not losing enthusiasm. I didn’t give up, I was persistent on achieving this goal I had set for myself.

I understood the impact that achieving this goal would mean to me and most entrepreneurs who come from my kind of background (Abject Poverty), I wanted to achieve it so as to encourage every entrepreneur that whatever the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve it.

Fast-forward to February 2017, I who used to be someone’s houseboy, finally met the man I love so much, the man I believe in, the man that gave me a life line when all others said they needed collateral, he only asked for an idea that can transform Africa, the man that has empowered over 2000 African entrepreneurs, the man that set aside $100,000,000 to empower Africans for 10 years.
He and others from H.I.E.R.S holdings, Uba & The Tony Elumelu Foundation treated me to a cocktail that evening and hosted me on CoolFM969. Thank you to all at the foundation, Thank you sir
I am yet to recover from the euphoria of meeting my mentor Tony Elumelu, When I saw him he said “YOU WILL BE A GREATER Tony Elumelu”

Set a goal, worked hard at it and believed it was possible. Achieving your dream may be hard but it’s possible if you believe. Dream big and dream beyond!

Education1 Programme! 2 Awards! More To Come! by engrzion(op): 6:30am On Jul 08, 2016
“My daughter is now ABROAD on scholarship for her Pgd courtesy your Students corner programme”.

This call was one of the best calls on my programme last year as the man leaped for joy when he talked to me via the phone ON AIR. He narrated how he always listened to the programme and got the Scholarship info for the daughter via the programme.

What would have happened if I didn’t take ACTION on the idea to start the programme when God gave it to me in 2012?

The Students Corner programme Now has a great listening audience and has earned me the name "The Academic MENTOR" but it wasn’t like that when I conceived the idea to start it.

December 2014, One of my students asked if I felt discouraged about the fact that the Students corner is not yet recognized as I expected it to be. I was mute for over 20 minutes and responded in Truth “sometimes I feel discouraged my dear” , when I have to spend nights on the road from school to school and yet don't get the required information I feel discouraged, when I see students who don’t get admission despite my efforts I feel discouraged, when I hear negative comments about the programme even from the same students I am trying to build I feel discouraged but I hear the voice of JESUS saying Still to fight on, still to hold on, still to keep on keeping on.

This AWARDS is a recognition of the Impact this programme has made in the lives of studetns and Deltans Generally. I am most humbled to receive this AWARD and also to dedicate it to Great Nigerian students all over!

Thanks to my colleagues Gbajimi Richard Mc Badmouth, Brume Faith Eyavore, Kabowei Godspower Oyinkuro for always showing up at my seminars, thanks to my manager West Abraham and my boss Benedict Okotie-Eboh

My dream is to help 1.5 million students become problem solvers not job seekers. So join me every Thursday on kpoko FM 100.5 (11am), Sundays on Crown Fm 89.9 (6.15pm).

What idea are you sitting on? What idea have you been procrastinating on? That idea was givien to you so it can help other souls, don’t deprive them of what they need because you are too scared to take ACTION.

EducationIf I Had Committed Suicide by engrzion(op): 8:35pm On Jun 06, 2016
In a recent interview I had with www.creamnaija.com I shared a story of how I almost committed suicide in 2012 due to depression stemming from loss of my job, loss of my friends and loss of my business money.
I became depressed and in my private time I thought about ending it all, I really didn't see the use anymore because everything around me had collapsed. It's a story I find hard to share but there was day I just felt like entering the road so it could all end.
But Thank God for parents, books, mentors and the Bible because if I had committed suicide; I would not be a radio presenter today, if I had committed Suicide I would not be the CEO clever minds today, if I had committed suicide I would not have mentored and help over 300 students who are now university students, if I had committed suicide I would not have given over 50 free jamb forms last year, if i had committed suicide i would not have been alive to see millions get inspired by my Houseboy Turned CEO story.

Thank God I didn't commit suicide...
Hold on, things will be better ...Don't give up on your dreams
