SmartPolician: Just imagine the advice coming from a so-called minister. Nobody takes responsibility in public service because nobody truly cares about this country. If this man had spent his personal money fixing the PH refinery, would he dump it?
You are 100% on point. I think Tinubu must boot out this man back to the creeks where he belongs. I am terribly annoyed by his statements.
LastGiantAlive: Take away the contribution of intelligent Igbo children and you'd discover that Southwest's true percentage is 15%.
Yorubaland is truly a mëss. No wonder automatic Ragos citizenship is conferred on we Osun deportee muslims at birth
Shut up!!! Lagos has the largest number of private schools in Nigeria. Thats what you are not told. Most of the children are in private schools -and they are doing far better than SE and SS in private schools. That’s why attention has been taken away from public schools.
MASTAkiLLAh: Organized Labour has vowed to go on strike by the third of June 2024 which is by Monday. Nigerians have been front sit eyewitnesses to the meaningless strikes which Labour has been embarking upon these past few months with even critical infrastructure being affected. I therefore implore Nigerians to institute a class action lawsuit against Labour unions and their leadership if their strike actions affect us negatively in any way especially for services we pay for ie critical infrastructure like electricity. I've not seen or heard anywhere in the world where a bunch of unionists keep frustrating the people they claim to be serving. We all know that Nigeria is in a deep mess now and no government can pay that over 400k MINIMUM WAGE they're demanding even if the FG cuts frivolous expenses across board so who are they kidding ? Their planned strike should and must not affect critical infrastructure if not we as Nigerians should sue the NLC and other Labour leaders to court to test what authorities they have under the constitution and the FG will have to follow suit because, the Tinubu led has tried it's reasonable best in this case.
What do you think ?

I support that 100%. Please open Gofundme account for donation to pay the lawyers. Ajeiro is an irredeemable clown and a stooge of Peter Obi and IPOB. A terrorist group cannot destroy Nigeria by proxy. We must wake up to this reality.
saddeeqrunka: Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un! What a great loss indeed, May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala forgive all is wrongs, lights his grave and grant him Jannatul Firdaus
sagitariusbaby: Trash as usual. The Jewish homeland is the place where Israel stands today and nothing can change that, the earlier you evil people accepted it the better for you.
You are in delusion. Follow the news and you will realise that Isreal is in the dust right now.
Fahdiga: So that means Igbos should fold their hands and watch as Fulani soldiers are killing their people. the difference between the Igbos and the Yorubas is that Igbos are not cowards unlike the later
They are cowards and they defeated you at Ore and Asaba? Why did you surrender? If you want us to open wounds for you idiot we will open it.
savenaijatoday: One year after, Tinubu has plunged Nigerians into unimaginable pains, hardship and death. Grabbing power is one thing, ruling properly is another. BAT has shown Nigerians the worst pangs of hunger. When you praise a sick goat, you will buy it more than its value.
Shut up!!! He is trying his best to correct the evils of several decades. I have warned you to stop wailing you won’t listen. He never grabbed anything. He won fair and square. Go tell Obi: he will never lead Nigeria. Shikenan!

Other state governments and their ignorant citizens should continue to blame federal government for their woes while the politicians continue to embezzle their money. Lagos will soon secede from Nigeria because our way of thinking and doing things are different from others.
Your fact check is not complete. Wike mentioned something significant, he said no commercial operation actually took place because there was no access road and other infrastructure needed to commence that. Can you prove him wrong on that?
Whalis: Chief Emnanuel Iwuanyanwu is working very hard in futility to convert Ikwerre into Igbo. The name is Ikwerre a distinct ethnic group with her own history, culture, language and is recognised by the UN as such.Ikwerre is clearly positioned by God in the South South region of Nigeria and she is intimately associated with the Nigeria and recognised as a Distinct ethnic group. In 2018 Ikwerre language was celebrated to mark the UN day of indigenous language and Ikwerre participated in a conference of ethnic minorities of the World.Iwuanyanwu born and bred in Rumuokoro should rather claim to be an Ikwerre man instead of dragging Ijwerre to Igbo.Iwuanyanwu should listen to these few illustrations that make an Ikwerre man different from Igbo man .1 the mode of dressing is quite different 2 The mode of dancing is different Ikwerre does waist dancing while the Igbo jumps 3 Ikwerre displays Owi (owu) masquerade while the Igbo man displays nmanwu 4 Ikwerre man displays wrestling, eregbu and obor which Igboman does not do.5 in cuisine Ikwerre cooks with marine products namely: fish, periwinkle, oyster, igigororo etc while the Igbos eat insects, caterpillars, grasshoppers, termites etc. 6 Traditional marriage ceremonies are different. 7 Traditional rulership and succession in Ikwerre is quite different from that of the Igbos .While succession to traditional follows tradition the Igbos succession is by election. Ikwerre ancestry is traceble to Benin and Igbos have no ancestors even though they claim Israel.God didn't make a mistake by positioning Ikwerre in South and the Igbos in South East.Iwuanyanwu's confusion arose from the mistake made by Lord Lugard in 1914 when he divided Nigeria into North East and West and no South according to the 4 cardinal points. If there was a South, the Ikwerre man would have nothing whatsoever to do with Igboman who would struggle in the East as Ikwerre man would have struggled and there would have been no meeting point. Ikwerre should be left as she has been fully established by God and will remain so established forever. - Prof. S. C. Achinewhu
I know why igbos want to assimilate Ikwere. The IPOB aim is to get access to the sea through any south south state acquisition. That is why they are desperate to include south south in their Biafla project. They realise that getting an independent country that is small dot in the map and without access to the sea where they can import all junks and sell hard drugs will be suicidal. Now you understand why they want to assimilate any tribe that will give them access to the sea.
Remman: If by any means South Africans let this opposition win, their country will be like Nigeria. This threat was similar to what APC Buhari used to take power from PDP GEJ and today we're paying for our mistake.
Shut up!!! Jonathan was a disaster. He did not build any infrastructure and allowed Deziani and other crooks to steal our money. It is not a disaster to build second niger bridge and wake up the railways, build private refineries and reverse the rot perpetrated by Jonathan. The fact that he gave some igbos opportunities to steal does not make him a success.
wirinet: Import duties in Nigeria depends on the items you are importing. Duties on items like vehicles, rice, flour are higher in Nigeria than in the UK. Maybe the items you are importing into Nigeria command lower duty/taxes. Remember duties are calculated based on the cost price of the item, so exchange rate will not necessarily matter.
As I reiterated, official taxes are way higher in the UK, but if you now add unofficial and illegal taxes collected by the various governments - local, State and federal, you will see thar we pay much higher taxes. For example, Local Government officials came to my wife's shop (a small eatery) just last week, They brought a bill of N25k for health inspection and some other fees. My wife's business has been poor this year given the high cost of flour, sugar, butter/margarine, etc. From a staff of three, she only have one girl working in the shop. This is apart from other taxes from state and federal government she is expected to pay yearly.
If you have imported items into Nigeria, then tell me how much you paid in getting your container from the ports to your warehouse. Now, if your warehouse is in Lagos or Ogun State, then maybe the cost of transportation to your warehouse would be lower than that of the UK, but if you are transportating to Aba, Kano or Abuja, the amount of illegal taxes/fees right from the port gate to each police check point, custom/quarantine check point, etc., in addition to the transportation would be far higher than that you will pay to get your warehouse in the UK.
Illegal taxes are what your group of importers must fight to stop. That’s why an association is needed to fight such illegal taxes. I agree with you that the local government disturbs businesses a lot. I opened a pure water factory for people and the local government keeps disturbing them. But the association is fighting back because most of these levies are illegal. You guys should form an association, get a lawyer to fight the illegalities.
wirinet: I am a business man that have running my own businesses for over 20 years. Furthermore, I lived in the UK for a short period, so I can compare the taxes between both countries. Yes, official taxes in the west are higher than that of Nigeria and poor African countries in general, but that's very deceptive. If you take account hidden, unofficial, illegal and unofficial taxes, Nigerians pay way more taxes than the west.
First and foremost, as an import dependent country, import duties are way higher than those of the west. Import duties on essential food such is rice is 60%, that on flour is 70%. Then there are other duties and levies just to clear your container from the ports.
To set up businesses is another ball game entirely, you are expected to deal with so many government parastatals, both federal and state with each collecting one fee or the other. I run a logistics business, I have to pay for road Worthiness certificate every 6 months for every vehicle. That's apart from numerous other particulars I have to renew yearly, ie CMR, Hackney permit, and even proof of ownership is to be renewed yearly now. If you are running a commercial transportation business, you will pay over 30% of your daily earnings on various types of taxes both legal and illegal. Then there is the ubiquitous 7.5% VAT All these are apart from SMS charges, stamp duty charges, etc on electronic bank transfers.
Okay here is my perspective: I have worked for many years in both Nigeria and UK and I have been a company director in UK. I also imported items into BNigeria and into UK from China. I also imported into Nigeria from UK. I can confidently tell you that the import charges are lower in Nigeria when you compare using exchange rates. Company taxes are lower in UK when compared to Nigetia but PAYE tax and VAT is higher in UK, far far higher, than Nigeria.
wirinet: Don't fall for the propaganda of the Emilokans, president Jonathan did not sign any law that says we should all donate 0.05% of all our transactions to the National Security adviser. These are now addictions to the 2015 act signed by Jonathan. In the 2015 act only certain businesses which were listed in schedule 2, were required to pay the cybersecurity levy and not the general public and it was not paid to the national security adviser.
See this lecture of 5 years ago by senator Alan Alda on how high taxes are killing African countries.
Poor African countries pay some of the highest taxes on the planet, it just that most of the taxes don't get to the government.
Nobody can lecture me on high taxes. The west changes more taxes than Africans. They never amended the law. It is still as Jonathan signed it. Yes individuals are not included and CBN was wrong in doing so. But Jonathan signed the law.
Blazetrailer: How do you people think? . Other NSAs since then did not see it to implement, abi? ..only the daft one could do it. They are now trying to push the blame of this thoughtlessness on Jonathan..imagine?
Only stupid person say what you just wrote. What’s the purpose of making a law? Was Jonathan drinking whisky when he signed it?
Amayabor1: How many times we dey announce a policy and reverse it? Is this the first time? Don't they think through before making an announcement after consultation with relevant stakeholders? Do you know how many policies have been announced under this govt and those polices reversed. A govt that is not even up to 2 years. Is this how they intend to attract direct foreign investments?
Tribal afflilaitions will be blinding you people.
PS: I'm not igbo
What tribal affiliations? What exactly do you want? When Buhari killed you with Emefiele policies and refused to listen to your begging, what did you do to Buhari? Tell me how many of such policies were reversed and if reversal was not beneficial. Are they not human beings? How many times have you reverses your decisions in your life? A government has to be flexible and listen to people. If stakeholders have to be called all the time, nothing can be done on time to alleviate suffering. A government has been elected to represent people and take decisions on their behalf. They don’t have to call stakeholders meetings all the time and stakeholders nowadays are even compromised by selfish interests.
