Someone told me

Everytime ive gotten arrested eye was intoxicated..Well i went to jail two times sober, that was when i got picked up randomly for having warrants.

I've tried to stop drinking, its hard. I can but then what am i going to do..

Today, the International Textile Research Centre, Hohenstein Institute, is working on wound dressings containing substances derived from maggots which support the healing process. After flies lay their eggs, it will be transferred to be placed on wounds to encourage the healing process.

In Qur'an Allah almighty says: (O mankind! A similitude has been coined, so listen to it (carefully): Verily those on whom you call besides Allah, cannot create (even) a fly, even though they combine together for the purpose. And if the fly snatches away a thing from them, they will have no power to release it from the fly. So weak are (both) the seeker and the sought.)(Sûrat Al-Hajj-verse73), in this verse Allah wants us to understand how much this insect is important and to know that He almighty didn't create it without purpose as He says in another verse: (And has subjected to you all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth; it is all as a favour and kindness from Him. Verily, in it are signs for a people who think deeply.)(Sûrat Al-Jâthiyah-verse 13).

Also prophet Mohamed (Peace be upon him) tells us about the benefit of the fly: ("If a fly falls in the vessel of any of you, let him dip all of it (into the vessel) and then throw it away, for in one of its wings there is a disease and in the other there is healing (antidote for it) i e. the treatment for that disease."( Narrated by Abu Huraira).

Let us think rationally, who told that illiterate prophet about this scientific fact 1400 years ago?

The answer is Allah, the knower of everything who says in His holy book: (Do they not then consider the Qur'an carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein many a contradiction.)(Sûrat An-Nisâ’-verse82)

From my time exploring Islam, I do remember that the Islamic teachings on alcohol changed a few times from don't be drunk at prayers all the way up to total abstinence.

Correct. Alcohol was never encouraged in Islaam, but there wasn't an outright prohibition during the earlier days. The prohibition was gradual - Allaah eased the people into it. The Arabs loved their wine/alcohol. It shows His absolute wisdom. The early days of the revelation were focused on informing the people of the Oneness of God in His Lordship, in worship, as well as in His Names and Attributes. It is only later, once the people's faith was firm, when many of the laws came down.

Aa'ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said,

"...If the first thing to be revealed was: 'Do not drink alcoholic drinks.' people would have said, 'We will never leave alcoholic drinks,' and if there had been revealed, 'Do not commit illegal sexual intercourse, 'they would have said, 'We will never give up illegal sexual intercourse.'...." 1.) We abstain from it because Allaah commanded us to. He explained one of the benefits of abstaining from it (the bad > the good) and since I know He is the All-Knowing & knows better than all of the world's greatest scientists put together, I have faith that the bad is greater than the good. If it is scientifically proven one day, I won't be surprised.

2.) Islaam also teaches us to try not to eat/drink to full capacity. And it also teaches us to not kill ourselves (which would include stuffing ourselves with anything to the point of death).

Al-Miqdam ibn Mad reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, say, There is no vessel which the son of Adam can fill more evil than his stomach, for it is sufficient for him to take a few mouthfuls in order to straighten his back, but if he must, then fill one-third with food, one-third with drink, and one-third with breath. O you who believe! Eat not up your property among yourselves unjustly except it be a trade amongst you, by mutual consent. And do not kill yourselves (nor kill one another). Surely, Allāh is Most Merciful to you. (An-Nisa 4:29)

The reputation of the Holy Qur’an cleft the bonds of time and distance and influenced beyond them. The miracles of the prophets before the Prophet of Islam (p.b.u.h.), and even his own miracles save the Qur’an, happened in a special period of time, at a definite place and for a specific group of people. For example : the utterances of the holy little child of Virgin Mary, and raising the dead by Jesus (a.s.) were done at some definite times and places before the eyes of some particular people. And we know that regarding the things that depend on time and place, the farther we move away from them correlatively the weaker they become. This is one of the properties of affairs related to time.

But,

the Holy Qur’an does not depend on time and place. Its brilliance and authority that illuminated the darkness of Arabia fourteen centuries ago continues unwaveringly to shine with its original splendor. Besides that, the passing of time, the advancement of science and the development of information have made it possible for us to understand it and take its advantages even more than the nations of former ages did. It is evident that what time and place cannot influence will continue to be everywhere in the world for eternity. It is also clear that a world-wide everlasting religion should have a world-wide everlasting document of legitimacy in its possession.

Then we can discuss the Holy Qur’an :
from the point of modern science;
and the scientific explorations;
and the rotation of the Earth;
and reproduction in the plant kingdom;
and general reproduction in all the particles of the world;
and general gravity;
and the surrendering of the Sun and the Moon;
and the secrets of the creation of mountains;
and the advent of the world;
and the existence of life on other planets;
and the winds, the pollinator of plants;
and the question of the roundness of the Earth;
And many other scientific facts and knowledge about the world can be found in the Holy Qur’an, too.

The sinful ways of using intoxicants are further given light in the Quran in 5:90 which tells us that intoxicants and gambling are works of the devil. Also in 5:91 where we are told that the devil entices people to use intoxicants and gambling to spread animosity and hatred between people and to distract the human from commemorating God.

Thus it is these sinful uses of intoxicants alone (which contain "ithm", which are prohibited. Obviously if intoxicants are used in surgery it is not spreading animosity or hatred among people, it would infact be helping people, and thus would not be prohibited.

Those who claim that drinking was prohibited in stages, or that it was permitted until the revelation of the Quran, show their ignorance with God's unchangeable law (33:62).
It is well known that alcohol drinking was prohibited in the previous scripture as well, and not only with the advent of the Quran. In the Bible we read:
"Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler; and whoever is led astray by it is not wise" (Proverbs 20:1).
"Do not look at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup and goes down smoothly. At the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like an adder" (Proverbs 23:30,31)

Alcoholic drinks are the only poison that is licensed in many countries. However, Islam took a clear attitude towards alcoholic drinks more than 1400 years ago. Islam prohibits such drinks. Any drink that causes drunkenness is prohibited in Islam regardless of the matter it is made from and regardless of the quantity. According to Islam, if too much of a drink causes drunkenness, then any small quantity of this drink is prohibited, because all alcoholics start with small quantities, and then they become the slaves of alcohol.
