lynx200: A word of advice for all prospective artistes. U might think u are securing a competitive advantage by paying to be auditioned. But I can tell you from experience that it doen't work. Most of the producers who do this are broke and finding a way to raise money. One doesn't get paid for these type of jobs. I know of a guy who paid 50k to get the lead role in a movie but he is no where. The best thing I will advice is to join an acting school which has a production arm like royal arts academy (Emem Isong) and Wale Adenuga's PEFTI. Here you will be trained and if you are good act in the productions produced by the production arm of the school. It might be expensive but it will provide a platform for your talent to grow. Make sure you check out the antecedents of an acting school before joining. If they don't have a production arm or are not affiliated to a production company, bust them. Even if u are joining the yoruba industry make sure its one that produces.(Check their productions) There are too many charlatans around. Why should you pay for a job that u will perform? Forget the fame thing that they entice you with. A lot of artistes are still struggling despite paying to feature in jobs. Network with industry proffesionals, join relevant groups online and avoid those telling you to pay. Good luck.

lynx200: Hello people just wanna point out that its been a year that this thread started and I want to thank everybody that has helped it achieve its aim namely bringing info bout d movie industry to nairalanders and disabuse their minds about some wrong thinking I have seen. I want to thank nellaluv, harioh and others who have provided info here as well as those who have commented and appreciated the going ons here. I know I might have disappointed a few unintentionally and for that I say am sorry. I know this thread can still be tweaked to further serve everybody upcoming actor/actress better so if u have any ideas or just wanna express your comments drop it here. Once again thank you all for making this thread what it is 2day.

i will suggest if possible to have someone in other state who will bring audition notice to NL in other states e.g. Abuja ,ph etc so we all can benefit because 99% of the notice are in lagos ,leaving me to wonder if it is the only state where there is producers or production houses ...
