Can you see why Nigeria can never split??
Can you see that if at all any part secedes to be on its own like Biafra, Odua Republic, Arewa etc, they CANNOT be united?

See, Lagos state usually had Igbo Commissioners (Not just Special Advisers) the latest was Ben Akabueze who was given a sensitive ministry as Budget and Economic planning. In the same vein, Kano state under shekarau had different tribes including an Igala (my lovely tribe) as commissioner.

Now Rochas took in Kanu (another Igbo) as Special Adviser (not Commissioner) and Tribalists are saying why take an Abia man in Imo state.

I can now see how helplessly shallow Tribalists are!

Why would they reject him? They must accept him with force, I think they said Tinubu is the best so let them face it. It is their cup of tea, he has be doing the business of imposition in the party for long and still my fellow party member still see him as all in all of ACN so they must accept any candidate Tinubu bring forward that is a good democracy hurrraaayyy pls Mr Tinubu please get more candidate and impose them plsss. Correct rubbish and nonsense!!!!!!! IMAO!!!!!!!!!!

Atleast Tinubu is not as Tribalistic as many NLanders paint him to be.
I respect him because without him, I imagine how the opposition would have been!
1. Those jobless ex-AD Governors following him about wouldnt have had a say
2. People like Fashola, Oshiomhole, Kayode, Abike-Dabiri, Olorunmnimbe, ETC would have been nowhere to be found by now.
3. Without him, PDP would have won 95% of all elective positions in Nigeria.

@Seun
The appointment is of mutual benefit to both. Okorocha already has a lot of goodwill in this country, except you haven't been following his story.
Kanu is in a very good position to advise the state in sports cos of his grass-to-grace story and global exposure. And who better to take advantage of you than your state. Haba!
Kudos, Rochas Okorocha.

If Amosun appoints Seun as Special Adviser on Technology, let him tell us if he will turn it down.

As for all those saying Papilo is now an APGA member or politician simply for agreeing to contribute his quota in building Imo, let it be known to you all that in Nigeria today, we need apolitical (nonpolitical) technocrats in Government.

[b]Former Nigeria World Cup skipper Nwankwo Kanu has been appointed a special adviser on sports to newly-elected the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha.

Okorocha announced Kanu’s appointment at a special dinner in honour of the former Arsenal and Inter Milan star, who called time on his international career at the weekend in Lagos.

“The Governor announced Kanu’s appointment at the gala dinner after the testimonial on Saturday,” head of the Kanu Heart Foundation (KHF), Onyebuchi Abia, informed MTNFootball.com

Okorocha was a special guest of honour at the Kanu testimonial.

Kanu, 34, was born in Owerri, capital city of Imo State and played for the state’s top club Iwuanyanwu Nationale (now Heartland FC) before he moved to Europe to pursue a professional career.

Fans and some of Africa’s top stars like Samuel Eto’o Fils, Kolo Toure, ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, Rigobert Song, Michael Essien and Emmanuel Adebayor defied the heavy rains Saturday in Lagos to pay tribute to Kanu, who will now focus on his club career as well as his heart foundation.

^ Check it out yourself. I am not making it up.
Start from here:
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-656549.0.html

The real issue is that when you limit Withdrawal and u allow deposit a fields day, the aim is defeated. If you know it is more costly to deposit or withdraw beyond the N150k mark, you will prefer your payments are not made in cash. Everyone will be encouraged to go digital in transactions. Advice doesnt work like device!!

Do you know that the so-called 'natural' obsolescence of VHS technology would have been a nightmare or mirage if the Govt had not allowed those new technology by lifting the borders. So your fallacy of NATURAL change takes eternity without conscious deliberate Governmental policies backed with concrete laws.

Seun:

I agree with you on the policy, but I think you got the solution backwards. Sanusi/CBN are not trying to push Nigerians towards a cashless economy; that's just a random justification added after the fact. They are trying to reduce the cost of managing cash, i.e. the cost of replacing worn out naira notes. The CBN constantly has to replace naira notes when they get worn out, and it costs a lot.

To achieve that, they can push towards higher denomination notes. For example, if N10,000 notes are available, and I want to withdraw 150k, that will be just 15 notes. In 200 naira notes, that will be 750 notes. The cost of replacing those 750 N200 notes when they get worn out is 50 times the cost of replacing 15 N10000 notes, so it's going to be cheaper to make higher denomination notes available for large transactions.

Instead of doing that, the CBN would rather impose hardship on traders because they refuse to understand that the inconvenience this will cause to traders all over the country (and their customers, i.e. all of us) is a cost too. It's not a financial cost, but it's a huge economic cost. They need to understand that financial costs are not the only costs to be considered. You cannot create value by stifling markets.

Oga Seun, I beg to differ on this point I've embolden.
You actually gave a punchline that doesn't fit into your flow of logic. The intent of this policy is to reduce drastically the cost of replacing and eliminating Naira bills as you said. However, by placing the withdrawal jamlock, the poor WON'T be at the receiving end because obviously, they are not 'supposed' to make withdrawal in excess of N150K (if at all they are low-income Earners/Traders).
Those whose business transactions exceed the N150k mark daily should be the ones to complain. Atleast from the Research dept of the CBN, they carried out an extensive research that revealed that an overwhelming percentage of Nigerians don't make daily withdrawals above N150k.

I personally hate cash. It is too risky and too discomforting. Why must u trekk to an ATM in a corner to withdraw say N150K or more? Why not just e-send it to wherever u need it to be? undecided undecided

Maybe i'm wrong bt was it nt this cjn dt hurriedly swore himself in?

He was sworn in by the then Out-going CJN Kutugi. Contrary to the norm which is that the President swears him in. But unfortunately, Yar'adua was incapacitated and there was no Acting President then. That same time, Kutugi also swore in Justice Ayo Salami.

http://thenationonlineng.net/web2/articles/30541/1/Kutigi-to-swear-in-new-CJN-Appeal-Court-President/Page1.html

Outgoing Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi, will on Thursday swear-in his designated successor, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu.

He will also swear in Justice Isa Ayo Salami as President of the Court of Appeal.

A statement by the Secretary of the National Judicial Council (NJC), Danladi Halilu, said the appointments were made by President Umaru Yar’Adua on the recommendation of the NJC.

The ceremony will take place at the Supreme Court complex at 11am.

Former Supreme Court Justice Kayode Eso supported the action yesterday.

Eso said: "Ordinarily and traditionally, there is no need for the taking of oath for the office of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN)."

According to Eso, once the appointment of a person as the CJN has been approved by the National Assembly, there is no need for any oath-taking.

He described such oath-taking as illegal, adding that "many people do not appreciate what the Constitution says on such matters."

Some lawyers however expressed divergent views on the issue.

Activist lawyer Femi Falana said if Justice Kutigi swears-in Justice Katsina-Alu during office hours on Thursday when he is due for retirement, there would be two Chief Justices, contrary to the provisions of the Constitution.

Falana said: "It is hoped that the outgoing Chief Justice will not lend his weight to the serial breaches of the constitution

Didier Drogba

As you read this, highlife singer, J.Martins, is already in Nice, France, where he has been contracted to perform at the wedding of Chelsea FC star striker, Didier Drogba, and his wife, Lalla Diakite. The wedding holds Sunday but the Good or Bad crooner left Nigeria Thursday morning. J.Martins is the only Nigerian artiste invited to perform at the wedding that will feature a constellation of football stars drawn from Drogba’s club side and national team, Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire.

Meanwhile, E-Punch gathered that J.Martins was not invited on his own strength, but on the strength of his collaboration with Congolese music star, Fally Ipupa, on the song, Jupa Remix. In fact, it was Ipupa that was invited, the source says.

“Drogba really loves the song and he thought it was Fally Ipupa’s. So, when his management got across to Fally to perform at the wedding to sing specified songs, he told them that Jupa Remix was not his. And that for him to perform it at the wedding, his collaborator, the owner of the song, had to be there.”

When Drogba was briefed, he assented because he had seen J.Martins perform at an event in Lagos, the source further says.

Drogba is getting married to his long-time partner, Lalla, by whom he has three kids. Unlike other multimillionaire football stars, the Ivorian goal poacher, who was rated one of the world’s 100 most influential people in 2010, is opting for a private wedding bereft of outlandish pomp and ceremony.
