How would you know where Park utility status reach if he hasn't played there before? Look at those line ups and see the leaders we had on the field. Scholes, Rooney, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, VDS, Park. Then look at who those guys train with that were not in the starting line up or bench. You think those things don't count?

We have new players upfront, but the lethargy upfront remains, is it still the fault of Rashford and Garnacho? With Case leaving, we need 2 players in the middle and maybe 1-2 defenders to support the current ones. Not another overhaul. Upfront is sorted, except maybe a right winger. So, 3-5 players with focus on key areas of weakness will do.

Carrick is just a temp with relatively few ideas. He’s done well, but I would not want to have him as a permanent manager.

If I understand Jamiuokola position well, I doubt he's against strengthening the squad, his point is that Carrick as the manager is the one to fix the passiveness with which we play, build up the team mentality and set the right tone for the players.

I'm saying it will be very difficult for any manager to fix this with the current set of players especially in defense and attack. How many more managers do we need to have before we realize what the real problem is here? A Flick with this midfield and defense will have serious problems trying to implement his style. Even Naggelsman will struggle a lot with bad results. Their only saving grace will be fixing the real problem on time.

It is up to the club however, we need a senior CB and LB. Martinez is hardly ever fit for an extended period and you can't trust Shaw. The other options are Yoro and Heaven, so it is logical to keep Maguire as an experienced option on the bench.

Remember that we also need to strengthen the midfield and attack, so we should not expect the club to sign two central defenders when we require serious reinforcement in midfield.

In an event where our midfield and attack didn't need reinforcement, I would have been expecting at least 2 CBs coming in with Maguire leaving but at the moment, we can only get one while we channel our resources to sign at least 2 midfielders and a forward.

Okay I think we're all on the same page. The club might just surprise us. Having a stable quality defense is very important for the team
