One day we will get that good manager

For some games why not.
That was one of Amorim sin. We don't want to do the same thing and expect different results

I don't really understand this back and front on Dalot. When Mazraoui comes back he will be relegated to the bench. Amad is also another option for that position.
Amad at right back?

Oh okay. Hopefully the next manager will make them more clinical. We're good then. Top four here we come

Same with 2-1 or even 3-2.

In our last 4 games we have created 12 big chances according to sofascore and only scored 2 of those. 16% conversion rate. I will keep on banging on it. Our players need to be more clinical in front of goal.
So your point is that we should get more attackers? If that's your point, I'm fine with that o.

Yes of course, and they will be replaced but it might not be at once. If we make the top 4, we will be better placed to attract top players and spend more.
Making top 4 is no joke. We have to be at our best or hope others are having it worse.

Outscoring their opponents.
We're on the same page then. A 1-0 or 2-0 solves this easily

Larride and all,

I want you guys to take time to watch our games with emphasis on how we defend as a unit. I have come to the conclusion that even if we sign Rodri, Rice and Szoboszlai, we will still struggle, maybe not as much, but certainly we will still concede a lot of chances when the opposition attacks. Football is a collective sport. The attack, midfield and defence must always be in sync at least for the majority of the game. Over here, when our attack presses, the midfield doesn't and it allows the opponent to bypass the press with simple movements. In other cases, the attack and midfield will press, but the defence will sit, leaving huge space in front of the defence. We still have not gotten this right, and it remains one of our major challenges

Today, there were a lot of instances where we tried to build from the back, but Welbeck, Rutter and the other Brighton players didn't let us, but for the majority of the game, they could easily play through haphazard press. There was a particular instance where Sesko, Mount, Bruno and Mainoo thought they had Brighton cornered, but a simple ball was played to the Brighton LW, and he was all alone because Dalot was not in sync with the rest. I am not sure the playing personnel alone will change this. Rather, the setup has to be right, and the players have to understand their roles on the pitch when we attack, press and defend. This is not clear when you watch our games, at least from what I see, and this is down to coaching and constant practice...
Is it not clear by now that some players will not get it. Those ones that have been here for many years

And yet we are underperforming our xG. Now imagine we were outscoring ours like City.
We're already doing fine if we're the 3rd highest goal scorers in the league. Arsenal in first position have only scored 4 more goals. We're seriously doing very badly at the other end of the pitch.

This is the premier league, your opponents are always going to get chances. The attack has improved from last season yet we are not clinical enough. They are soo many games this season where we should have been out of sight but we couldn't take our chances and that puts pressure on the defense to be perfect and hold out the opposition. Take a look at city over the last 3 games they dropped points. They created numerous chances against Chelsea and Brighton to go 2 and even 3 goals up yet they fumbled and their opponents capitalized. When you are not clinical your opponents still believe it can get something from the game and will continue to push to achieve it.
Are you aware we're the 3rd highest goal scorers in the league?

After getting seven players in 14 months? How many managers get that number of signings in one year?

I believe he was sacked because he wanted to determine who to sign. Reason for that coach vs manager statement.
Wait! He wasn't the one determining who to sign already?

How many of these players are supposed to be starters? Heaven, Leon, Dorgu are still supposed to be youngsters, learning from more experienced players. But go on

patrickmuf:
I agree with your points. I wanted him to speak out about the midfield, even at the risk of losing his job. He didn't realise it would be tough to get another opportunity at a top club if he failed here. He was confident in the team and must take responsibility for his poor judgment.

Last summer, the board surprisingly spent on Cunha, Sesko, Mbeumo, and Lammens, even though Doc was unsure if we had up to £150m to spend on transfers. We almost signed Baleba, but Brighton's pricing was too high, showing the board's willingness to spend.

Now, with only one game a week for five months, many players might not play. If we sign anyone in January, which is unlikely, they must be outgoing.

Hopefully, the interim manager guides us to the top 4 while the board plans for the summer. I hope we find a permanent manager and secure deals early in the transfer window.
It's reported that Amorim wasn't sacked for poor results but the fact that he demanded new signings? If this is true, what does that tell you?

We create enough chances to outscore our opponents. Barcelona conceded 2 today yet won. We need to be more clinical. Today game we should have been two nil up in the first 15mins of that game and Brighton spirit would have been broken.
Defending is also part of the game. We can't be letting in an average of 2 goals per game and expect the attackers to bail out the team everytime. They could be trying their best and boom the defense concedes a useless goal. That kills morale. Their work now becomes twice harder. While the attackers are doing trying to do their jobs, the defense should be doing same. We can't expect to score 3+ goals every game.

If there one aspect of the team that has improved from last season, it's the attack. Do you agree?

Our average possession is very good but take a look at our xG difference and big chances created. We are massively not taking our chances when dominating.
What about stats for goals conceded? Not important?

Are you implying that sacking Amorim was the wrong decision?
No. I already gave up on Amorim long ago.
His first sin was not demanding for a good CM. His thinking he could go into the season with the same midfield showed he is still a rookie. He probably thought he had a lot of time to take the team to that level most will be satisfied.

Secondly his substitutions were questionable. He struggled to rotate which shows his lack of trust in some players. That tells me he was already under a lot of pressure.

But one thing he did right was fight against those players that felt they were too big for the coach. He brought some level of discipline. If we had such discipline before, Greenwood would have been better managed. I just hope we don't relapse back because the next manager is soft.

However sacking Amorim is not everything that needs to happen in this transfer window.

Imagine mentioning Rashford winning a trophy when he didn't even play more than 5 minutes.

Garnacho should have gone to Italy, Spain or Germany. We would have been celebrating him too

Did they not sign 4-5 players last summer for Amorim? What about the transfer window before that? Abegi, we can use this squad to get European football. No let Amorim confuse una with the 15th position finish last season.

But that’s my point no, we don’t need to change players to qualify for European football. And we can build from there in the summer. This team needs ginger. If you like, sign 5 more players this month, they will come here and become ‘dross’.
Sign the 5 players first. Not every player signed by other teams end up meeting expectations. You bin them after a season or two if they don't meet expectations.

The day this starts happening consistently home or away is the day we become a consistent top 4 team again and not all that "we thank God we beat Liverpool games". To challenge for league from there will be a matter of 1 or 2 key signings.

But no matter who the manager is, that's never going to happen when we are still parading Dalot, Dorgu, Shaw, Ugarte and co
I align with you. No be all these oriyomi draws and wins against top teams that the fans will be masturbating about

That one na yes man now. That’s what he’s expected to say.

Meanwhile, transfer window will soon close and we won’t strengthen that midfield in any manner this January.
They should do and bring the next manager fast to start performing his magic

Jack Fletcher is there. He can partner Mainoo in the midfield. That's the dream United DNA
