Deeper Life Pastor Resigns Over Kumuyi’s Support of Tinubu Administration

A Deeper Life pastor, Ogueze Venitius Chinyerugo, who is the district pastor of Deeper Life Bible Church, 84, Nnobi Road, Nnewi, Anambra State, has resigned on account of the apparent support of the general superintendent and head of the church, William Kumuyi, for the administration of President Bola Tinubu,ANAMBRAPEOPLE reports

Pastor Chinyereugo in a letter stated that the recent comments of Pastor Kumuyi buttress his point that the general overseer is supporting the administration of President Tinubu.

Chinyerugo stated: “I write this note with great burden, bearing in mind its far-reaching spiritual implications. “I feel that our father in the Lord and our general superintendent, Dr WF Kumuyi, have made a costly mistake and there is no way for me to effectively convey my mind to him than resigning as the pastor of the above district, effective from today, the 23rd of August, 2023. My decision was taken after watching the video, which I forwarded to you, where he advised Nigerians to support the government and the ministers, because, according to him, they will perform, especially going by their antecedents.

“Honestly, I was devastated and felt terrible, humiliated and disappointed after watching the clip. For the records, I became born-again on April 10, 1984, as an undergraduate under the Christian Union, and later in that year I joined Deeper Life, after months of searching for a church that reflects the Bible.

“Why not? I could not have left the world only to fool myself and surrender myself again to be deceived. I have not been disappointed since I joined the church. “God has so graciously used the pastor to mould my Christian life and, of course, the life of many others. He has also, by words and conduct, taught us to mind the kingdom business and to refrain from dabbling into political matters. He had exemplified this teaching for several decades by steering clear of political controversies, until lately.

“Most debilitating was his visit in 2019 to the President of Nigeria then, Muhammadu Buhari, at a time when Nigerians, Christians, pagans, Muslims and atheists, were wishing and praying for him to exit. While Nigerians with their short memories are trying to forget that visit blunder to such an insensitive leader, a tribal and religious bigot, our pastor has committed another terrible blunder.

“He has recommended this present administration, in which every detail about the administration is antithetical to the pastors’s preaching. And this is while the presidency is still subject to national and international judicial contests. As a mathematician, I wonder what mathematical principle he used to arrive at that conclusion because my elementary arithmetic taught me that zero multiplied by one trillion amounts to zero. So, on what moral principle would this administration fight corruption? On the past performances and quality of the ministers, I wonder if our pastor knows about Isa Bagudu and many of the former governors.

“Sir, if I do not remove the speck in my very own eyes, then I will be one of the hordes of hypocrites marauding everywhere in Nigeria. I am one of those who vehemently criticise members of Catholic, Anglican and some other Pentecostal churches for not drawing the attention of their own leaders when they go wrong, hence my decision to resign. I am particularly let down by the demeaning comments in the social media space, and, unlike usual, I am silenced to defend him because the comments are correct! He has given the enemies of the Lord the opportunity they are looking for, to talk down on him and, by extension, the church " chinyereugo concluded.

Business / Anambra Billionaire Orders N60 Billion Luxury Jet by ernest2019: 12:51pm On Sep 17, 2023
Anambra Billionaire orders N60 billion luxury jet

Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi, the chairperson and CEO of Nestoil Group, a Nigerian oil conglomerate, is set to complete the purchase of a $76 million Gulfstream G-700 jet from the manufacturer in Georgia, United States,ANAMBRAPEOPLE reports.

In addition, Mr Azudialu-Obiejesi and his oil firm are now strategising to expand their dealings with American businesses in Georgia, Texas, Louisiana, California, and other states in the US.

Incorporated in 1991, Nestoil has grown to be one of Nigeria’s foremost indigenous engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) companies in the oil and gas sector.

Mr Azudialu-Obiejesi, 63, the founder and managing director of the company, has now set his eyes beyond the shores of Nigeria, looking to build a world-class energy conglomerate.

Aside from expanding Nestoil’s operation in America, the billionaire businessman’s other priorities include the purchase of a new Gulfstream G-700 aeroplane that sells for $76 million.

At the current official market rate of N780 per US dollars, the amount is equivalent to N59.3 billion.

The G-700 aircraft is an all-new jet that is currently in flight test and is anticipated to enter into service this year, according to Guardian Jet, an organisation providing aircraft owners and operators with market intelligence advice.

The aircraft, its manufacturers say, is an ultra-long-range bespoke private jet with two engines. It will offer the largest cabin in business aviation, carrying up to 19 passengers and having up to five living areas.

“The Gulfstream G700 unites a revolutionary cabin with all-new Roy Royce engines and the award-winning Symmetry Flight Deck,” the manufacturers said in a product brochure.

Gulfstream said the all-new aircraft will deliver better performance and greater cabin comfort. During certification flying, the aircraft demonstrated increases in range and speed as well as improvements in cabin altitude, Mark Burns, Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation President, said recently.

“We are undertaking one of the most extensive flight test programmes as the G700 is the first business aircraft to undergo Federal Aviation Administration certification following the passage of the 2020 Aircraft Certification, Safety, and Accountability Act.

“As a result, we will be delivering an extremely mature, rigorously tested aircraft that will outperform expectations in speed, range and cabin comfort. Our certification efforts continue to advance, and we look forward to delivering the G700 to customers around the world.”

If the purchase is completed, Mr Azudialu-Obiejesi and his Nestoil will be among the first set of buyers in the world to acquire the luxury jet.

Currently, Nestoil relies heavily on an older Gulfstream jet for which, in addition to its purchase price, the company has spent $31 million (N41 billion) on parts, maintenance, and management, company documents show.

The company also has a Bombardier jet, which is manufactured in Canada and was financed with a $25 million (N33.6 billion) loan from a leading Swiss bank.

However, Mr Azudialu-Obiejesi, the Nestoil CEO, said that he prefers U.S. jets, adding that he plans to continue purchasing and relying on them for the foreseeable future.

In November 2022, Nestoil’s aviation subsidiary signed a letter of intent for the purchase of the G-700 aircraft.

The deal is at an advanced stage, with Gulfstream and Mr Azudialu-Obiejesi’s Nestoil arranging schedules for the completion of the acquisition.
Mr Azudialu-Obiejesi is also planning a trip to Georgia soon to complete the transaction.
Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi and his Nestoil
Mr Azudialu-Obiejesi is known as an astute businessman with a bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from the University of Benin and an honorary doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Nigeria. He established Nestoil in 1991 as an offshoot of the Obijackson Group of Companies.

Nestoil entities within the oil and gas sector engage in oil drilling, oil and gas exploration and production, dredging, aviation, civil construction, ship drydocking, pressure vessel manufacturing, major steel fabrication, and marine shipping.

The company’s biggest project to date was its construction for the Royal Dutch Shell company of half of the $1.1 billion 60-mile Nembe Trunk Line in the Niger Delta.

In its 32 years of operations, the company has expanded to become a leading indigenous oil and gas company handling multi-million dollar contracts, with its clientele including the Nigerian government and international oil companies.

The company has further expanded its services through the establishment of affiliates to handle specific industry needs – B & Q Dredging Ltd [dredging and marine operations]; Gobowen E& P Ltd [upstream oil and gas activities]; Hammakkop Consortium Ltd [for civil engineering construction works]; Energy Works Technology Ltd [Offshore Fabrication and pressure vessel manufacturing]; Time Power Global Dynamics Ltd [power distribution]; and Century Power Generation Ltd [electricity generation].

Nestoil spearheaded the founding of the Neconde Consortium to gain a competitive advantage in winning bids for work. That paid off with the consortium acquiring oil block OML 42 from Shell.

In 2019, the London Stock Exchange designated the Nestoil conglomerate as one of the “Companies to Inspire Africa.”

In October 2022, former President Muhammadu Buhari awarded Mr Azudialu-Obiejesi a national honour — Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic.

More Commissioners To Resign Due to Soludo's High-Handedness- Source

Following Mr Ifeatu Onejeme's resignation as Anambra State commissioner of Finance, there are indications that other commissioners may follow suit due to the Governor's high- handedness.

A source close to the government who did not want his name on print said that more commissioners and aides of the governor may likely resign their appointments given the way and manner Soludo treats them.

According to sources, the governor treats the commissioners and his aides as students and never allows them to make input during meetings.

"If Soludo is holding meetings with his commissioners and aides he does not allow them to air their opinions. He is the headmaster while others are pupils. He does not believe in the cross-fertilisation of ideas. He believes that he knows everything. Some of the commissioners and the aides who are principled may likely leave the government to face their businesses" he said.

The source said that the commissioner for finance resigned from the government because a third party interfered in the affairs of his ministry and he decided to leave the government to maintain his integrity.

Our Correspondent gathered that Prof. Charles Soludo during the weekly Exco meeting lectures the executives for as long as the meeting lasts.

He does not allow the executive members to contribute.

Politics / Main Reason Anambra Finance Commissioner Ifeatu Onejeme Resigned by ernest2019: 7:26pm On Sep 15, 2023
Main Reason Anambra Finance Commissioner Ifeatu Onejeme resigned

According to a reliable source, Onejeme's resignation was only announced a few days after his fallout with Soludo which led to him quitting his position as finance commissioner due to allegations of third-party meddling in state government finances as well as multiple pseudo-appropriations.

Recall that a few months ago, it was the Chairman of the Anambra Internal Revenue Service (AiRS), Richard Madiebo, who, according to reports, walked out on the governor over issues of third-party interference in the revenue of the state with the express approval of the governor.

The source revealed that Onejeme was forced to quit his position over alleged padded projects and interferences by a third party related to the governor.

It's been alleged that allies and relatives of the Governor use proxies to scuttle state funds through multiple taxes, pseudo-road constructions, and other projects in the state just to enrich their pockets and those of their cronies.

Both Richard Madiebo and Ifeatu Onejeme were forced to quit their positions over their alleged refusal to be used by these third-party allies and relatives of the Governor.

Health / Dr Madueke Ugwunze: The Anambra Man Who Built The First Private Hospital In Kano by ernest2019: 5:34pm On Sep 04, 2023
Dr Madueke Ugwunze: The Anambra Man who Built the First Private Hospital in Kano

Back in the late 1950s, Kano faced a pressing issue—overcrowding at the General Hospital. To tackle this problem, several prominent companies and affluent individuals came together to establish the "Kano Voluntary Hospital Society." Their primary objective was to raise funds for the construction of a £25,000 hospital and clinic in Kano City. Led by Prince Alh Ado Sunusi, the Chairman, and Mr. Michael A. Agbamuche, the Barrister-at-Law Secretary, the society aimed to alleviate the suffering caused by the lack of medical facilities in the area.

The Kano Voluntary Hospital Society garnered significant attention and public support. However, to the astonishment of many, the organization failed to fulfill its ambitious goal. On November 3, 1962, the society announced its dissolution, citing insufficient financial response from the public. With that, their lofty plan fell into obscurity.

However, amidst this disappointment, a remarkable Anambra man from Oba in Idemili South, named Dr. Madueke Ugwunze emerged as a game-changer. He single-handedly transformed healthcare in Kano with his private hospital known as Sahara Hospital, situated in the Sabon Gari Area. The esteemed late Emir of Kano, Alh. Ado Bayero, inaugurated this groundbreaking establishment on November 30, 1963.

Before opening Sahara Hospital, Dr. Ugwunze had served as a medical officer at the Kano City General Hospital, Asibitin Murtala (formerly known as Asibitin Murtala), between 1962 and 1963. He had also worked as a medical officer in Yola in 1961 and Makurdi. Peter Obi Attends Cutix PLC 40th Anniversary,Reacts

On the 4th of August 2023, I expressed my sadness via a Tweet about the news of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) ending its operations in Nigeria after 51 years of operation, resulting in dire economic implications for the country. However, today brought a glimmer of hope as I attended one of the events commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Cutix PLC. The event was organized to honor the Co-Founder of Cutix PLC, Ambassador Okwudili Nwosu. Cutix PLC (@Cutixcables) is a Nigerian cable manufacturing company, renowned internationally for producing high-quality cables for the construction industry. Over the past four decades, the company has generated employment opportunities and contributed to the welfare of numerous Nigerians. I thank the management and staff of Cutix PLC who irrespective of the harsh economic environment in the country have continued to contribute to the productivity of the country and the overall economic progress of the nation. We need more manufacturing companies like Cutix PLC to thrive in Nigeria. This will aid our mission of moving Nigeria from consumption to production.

By creating an environment that supports local manufacturers with incentives and favourable conditions, we will build the productive nation that we all desire.

Part of the foundation for a great nation is an incentive to manufacturers and encouragement of a mentality of productivity.

A new more prosperous nation is POssible. -PO

6 Most Respected Politicians From Anambra State

These are just a few of the politicians from Anambra State who are highly respected. There may be others who are equally respected, but these individuals are widely recognized for their contributions and accomplishments in the state's political landscape. Although they may not currently hold any political positions, they command tremendous respect across the board. Their respect primarily stems from their integrity, intelligence, creativity, and experience. People look to them to understand their stance on issues, even though the majority of them are not in government. They do not need a political office to remain relevant, unlike some other desperate politicians who seek validation through the positions they hold.

Based on our findings, ANAMBRAPEOPLE has compiled a list of the most respected politicians from Anambra State.

Peter Obi: Peter Obi is a former Governor of Anambra State. He is widely respected for his frugality, transparency, and development achievements during his tenure. He was also a former vice presidential candidate of the PDP. His recent political activities, including running as the Presidential candidate for the Labour Party, have shaken the foundations of party politics in Nigeria. His issue-based campaign, supported by verifiable statistics, has endeared him to young people. He is arguaby the most respected politician in Igboland at present.

Valentine Ozigbo: Valentine Ozigbo is a business executive and politician. He is respected for his entrepreneurial skills, philanthropy, and commitment to youth empowerment in Anambra State. Val commands respect across the board due to his forthrightness and emotional intelligence. He demonstrated his respect during the 2021 Anambra Governorship elections and has remained relevant since then. He recently joined the Labour Party and served as a special adviser to Mr. Peter Obi on technology. He was able to form a great team that came up with creative solutions for running one of the most effective campaigns in Nigeria. At just over 50 years old, Valentine is youthful in his thinking and has proved to be a bridge between the younger and older generations of Anambrarians.

Senator Chris Ngige: Senator Chris Ngige is a former Governor of Anambra State and the immediate past Minister of Labour and Employment. He is recognized for his extensive political experience, achievements in infrastructure development, and advocacy for workers' rights. Ngige is an elder statesman and the only politician from Anambra State who has held three powerful political positions as governor, senator, and minister of the federal republic.

Osita Chidoka: Osita Chidoka is a politician and former Minister of Aviation. He is respected for his strong advocacy for good governance, transparency, and inclusive development in Anambra. He is one of the youngest politicians operating at the national level. He is not involved in transactional politics and is one of the most intelligent politicians from the state. His intelligent opinions on issues hold significant weight, and he has been able to distinguish himself as a different kind of politician. Despite his previous gubernatorial election under the UPP, he has remained with the PDP, even when his fellow Anambra natives rallied around Peter Obi as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

Senator Ben Obi: Senator Ben Obi is a seasoned politician and former Special Adviser to the President on Interparty Affairs. He is respected for his political astuteness, experience, and commitment to the development of Anambra State. He is seen as a father figure and is highly respected in the state.

Joy Emodi: Joy Emodi is a former senator and legal practitioner. She is respected for her longstanding advocacy for women's rights, education, and social justice in Anambra. Although she has left office, she remains highly respected. She is fully absorbed in her passion for education and devotes much of her time overseeing her school in Abuja. Her presence is electrifying wherever she goes. She is not like other less intelligent female politicians who are afraid to retire from politics and pursue their passions, leading them to create makeshift political offices for themselves to remain relevant in politics.
