This one loud.

However, a quick search shows that the house was sold in 2013 for $480,000.

So that means the man bought it in 2013 for $480k and it’s currently worth $1,013, 000 in 2023.

Saharareporters should have given that details.

Let’s even say the wife has been in USA working in corporate America, a house of $480k in 2013 is still a big purchase I guess. But I think reporting the actual thing as it goes will give people more details on this.
Thank you for digging out this record. This is a country where transparency and record keeping works and that us why you have this info at your finger tip. Wish it is same for naija.

A U.S. F-16 fighter has crashed into waters in the Yellow Sea off the coast of South Korea, stoking safety concerns after eight U.S. airmen were killed last month in the crash of an Osprey aircraft near a Japanese island.

The F-16 crashed into the sea Monday after taking off at about 9 a.m. from the city of Gunsan, some 180 kilometers south of Seoul, Yonhap News Agency reported, citing sources it did not identify. The pilot ejected and was conscious after being rescued from the sea, it said.

U.S. Forces Korea did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The crash of the Osprey off the southwestern island of Yakushima last month ultimately prompted the U.S. military to ground its entire fleet of several hundred of the aircraft to check for a possible equipment problem that may have been the cause of the accident, according to military officials.

Before the decision to ground the fleet, the Japanese government had called for U.S. military forces in the country to suspend use of the Osprey, which was made by a unit of Boeing and the Bell Helicopter unit of Textron, so that checks could be conducted.

The crash in Japan returned scrutiny to the Osprey, a tilt-rotor aircraft that can take off and land like a helicopter and fly like an airplane. Early years of setbacks and accidents — especially in 2000, when two crashes killed 23 Marines — triggered a major Pentagon review and subsequent design changes for the aircraft that served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It is because of the continuous devaluation of the naira, the inability of them to repatriate their money, the cost of diesel, operating costs etc.
Eg if 8 years ago, dstv premium cost ₦9000, at ₦200 to $1. Ie dstv charged $45.
Diesel was about ₦100 per liter.
Today even with today's dstv increase which we are complaining about ie ₦29,500, dstv is getting $24. Way less than the $45 it earned from the premium bouquet 9 years ago despite buying eg diesel now at ₦1200 per liter.
For them to earn what they did 9 years ago, they will have to charge at least ₦54,000 for dstv premium.
How many Nigerians can afford that?
This is why you see multinational companies leaving. Nigerians, have lost their purchasing power.
I told someone from the look of things, telecoms and power providers will raise their rates next year to match the economic realities. Next year will be survival of the fittest.

Thr man will equally pay for the bad choices he made, that is for sure. The children if they choose wrongly too will pay for it someday and it won't matter why or who made them made their bad choices.
When it is said that an action is wrong, it is not the action that is wrong in itself but the bad end result that accompanies it akes it wrong.
Now I can agree with you.

If I didn't read the story, I wouldnt comment. About the urge to blame, I wouldn't understand what you meant. What I know is that in life our choices shape our future, and when we make bad choices, we should always be humble enough to take responsibility. There are millions, if not billions of men in this world, and a good proportion of those are responsible too. When people marry bad, they ought to reflect and take some responsibility, they need to take a chunk of the blame and use the lesson learnt to advice the young ones to be wise in making their own choices. In as much as the man is bad, the woman too equally made a bad choice and her choice left her children with trauma. The children rather than allow resentment consume them should learn from the bad choice their mother made, and use that as a yardstick to prevent themselves falling into the same trap. The truth is that there will always be bad people, intact there are plenty of them, ours is to be good and be circumspect in choosing who we roll with. If we choose badly, we and our children will leave with the consequences. Just like Nigerians are living with the consequences of the bad choice of 2016 which has spilled into 2023.
I fail to see how the woman is to be blamed.

Bad choices by marrying the man? The setting must have been in either the 70s or 80s when the economy was still good and as a federal civil servant, the man was well placed so what could have made him abandon his wife he paid a bride price for, children she borne for him and decide to marry another wife abandoning his first family.

Like you said, actions have consequences, he has made his bed, let him lie on it. David may find it hard to forgive especially when he literally abandoned him at markudi.

Let's even assume he found out the children were not his, what stopped him from calling a family meeting, revealing what he.knows so no one will blame him in the future. Why move on as though na block the wife born for am.

It is unfortunate that some bigoted cretins are always trying to make everything about ethnicity. Gumi is an unfortunate human being and it's a shame that he's even called a sheikh. Airforce mistakenly bombed IDP camp in Rann during the Buhari administration and nobody made it about ethnicity.

This country will not make progress if we don’t stop making every issue about ethnicity. We need to rein in bigots like Gumi and others and stop them from shaping narratives of division.
First time I'm agreeing with you.
Seems in Nigeria, everyone is a patriot when their favourites are no longer in power.

Listen attentively

Human beings live their lives at different levels of CONSCIOUSNESS and EXPERIENCE, and for most people Sense Happen to them at the evening of their lives unfortunately. Life is always in a constant state of change; when you were young you think your experience and positions at that time is the ultimate truth, but as you grow older you realize that you were actually foolish, like this, our conclusions and assumptions change over time.
I bet that the Man in that story had no intention of not taking care of his family, he only acted according to his level of consciousness and experience at that time.

For the wife and her children, let them do for the man what he could not do for them: forgive him, accept him and give him the chance to die a changed Man.
I agree with your last paragraph but let's stop playing the devil's advocate for he man. Didn't he have people that would have advised him about cause and effects or are there no wise person around him. This looks like a man who seemed soooooo sure of his future that he felt he was very safe never knowing that life is full of uncertainties.

This is not comparable to Joseph's story. This story is rather about a woman who made a bad choice that left her children abused and traumatised. People can always choose right. If you can't choose right, stay single; marriage is not compulsory.
Did you read the story or the urge to blame the woman was stronger?

I get your point but the had the evidences of hamas training and simulation but they ignored. You don't underestimate any enemy capability. See like we keep underestimating Iran, trust me what they had with hezbollah and what they got with houthis of Yemen and what they got in Syria will. overwhelmed Isreal if they don't learn not to underestimate any kind of foe. This is a big lesson because the precision of target executed in the northern boarder of Isreal are too precise and accurate. And to know Iran made those for militant and freedom fighters is scary. Isreal should learn fast.
NB
Am not a terrorist apologist. I'm a Muslim and a core shia till death. we don't support unprovoked violence. So I'm indifferent how anyone persive me or my love for hamas but I don't support this oct atta k because its against children n women but few soldiers. The killing of people that are cheated ,terrorised and have their land stolen is just a waste of time because you can not kill an ideology.
Emancipation of the people of Palestine including GAZA and Nazareth is a must and it will happen. Imagine , even if Jesus Christ is born in today's Nazareth, he would be born under an Israeli occupation and he would probably grow up fighting for freedom for Palestinians. So, Kill an Hamas leader today, and more than a thousand would carry on with the ideology.. therefore, their won't be peace for Israel without peace and freedom for Palestinians. Know this and know peace!
So Jesus is an arab and not a jew. Wonderful piece of information. Thanks for enlightening me.
