Goskian:
How to know an immature, jobless kinder: frequent on nairaland, takes up dictionary in order to post a comment correctly, but commits blunders in little sentences such as 'He was the former GED of...', and still get admirers in fellow k******. SMH. Okbye.
http://www.use-in-a-sentence.com/english-words/academic-words-english/former.htm

http://forum.thefreedictionary.com/postst29484_She-is---was-a-former-teacher-.aspx

You put a quote on the supposed sentence but ended up not quoting it verbatim. In any case, this is the sentence: "In fact, the current DMD Bernard Otti, was a former GED of that directorate"

I know your puny brain will overheat trying to make something of the links I provided above so I will try to help (as onerous a task as can be). The phrase 'was a former' (as it pertains to humans) is employed in situations where the person in question is either dead or doing something else after retiring from a previous position as should be indicated in the sentence. So in the sentence above, I used the word 'Current' to indicate his present position and the phrase 'was a former' to indicate what he WAS before taking on the DMD role (his present position).

Feel free to accept or disregard this piece of advice:
1.Get a refund of your tuition from all your English teachers. They bilked you seriously.

2.Grow a pair and be ballsy enough to quote my posts instead of this wanton show of pusillanimity.

3. Don't be a bucolic simpleton. I am not the reason you didn't get a text from PCL. (Oops! I said it)

4. If you are as busy and employed as you claim, leave those of us that are not, to visit NL as often as possible.

Side note: I have learnt to take statements like "I am employed, I don't need this job" with a pinch of salt because most people who aver such, are usually insecure and delusional so they try to use their mouths to make up for what life hasn't given to them.

Personally, I wager you are underemployed but if it helps you sleep at night, then you are the MD of SPDC. grin

Pls am tired of nigeria, FAAN recruitment is politics, i scored 65% in the online aptitude test and I graduated with 2.1, yet I was not shortlisted for the interview.
3 of My friends had the following scores: 80, 85 and 88. They all had 2.1 from the UK and they have relevant Master's degree(s). They all made the list.

I think rashygenius has a point, I think they are doing wat I will call 'spread out'. It is possible some states might not have a single candidate scoring above 60% whereas another state might have 20 scoring even more than 70%. so in suchcases d best thing for merit's sake will be to overlook one state so as to take as many as merited in other states.
let's not 4get they have laid down rules &have repeatedly said it will be strictly on MERIT. Let's trust them as some of us here have confirmed their impartiality as I personally don't bliv we can deceive ourselves here in that wise.
You are preaching to the choir. Tell Rashygenius that ^^ because it ^^ has been my point all along.

oga...i knw some1 who scored 63percent 4 d postn of security officer II....mayb it depends on d scores u and oda candidates frm d same state vyin 4 d same postin...let assume 10candidate 4rm d ur state applied 4 d same positn and u were d least among dem even if u score 80percent and odas av 81percent and above, one mite nt b sent an invite 4 d next phase.my tot though
Some states were not represented on the list at all, while some had just one candidate. Some others like Ekiti and Edo for PDMO had more than 7 candidates each. I think Ekiti even had 11 candidates. What could be a logical explanation for such a conundrum?
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Faanrecruitment Online Aptitude Test. by Eruditor: 1:46pm On Mar 10, 2015
I am not in the process but I know a few people that are and whose names were on the list for PDMO and the likes. I know some of you that scored 50<X<70 are disheartened that you didn't make the cut. The reason is that the pass percentage was too high so FAAN raised the cut-off to 70%. Any candidate that didn't make up to that % in their first attempt wasn't shortlisted to the next stage (regardless of if they got an automated email response or not). There was no malfeasance or nepotism involved.

Calm down bro... Almost everyone who didn't get the text is about to enter Rage mode... no need to get into war of words... Its a waste of time ... We should be more focused on how to get the right info ...
Trust me I understand bro. If someone is expecting a miracle such that when invitations are sent for the interview, they'd still get it, I don't mind (and could even join them to pray for such). But when the argument is such that they believe they have incontrovertible evidence(s) that more texts will be sent, I find that not only troubling but also phantasmagorical grin

Maybe I don't have enough emotional intelligence as to know when to point people out to the difference between something that is magical and the other that is a miracle.

Eru wetin be your name sef? Abeg no make me laugh my tongue out. My arguments are issue based as you can see. Am not involved in unholy vendetta so I will not respond with derogatory statements. And that is what I call maturity, which is way beyond your reach bro. But honestly I expected you to tell me you work for NLGN and not you have their AC to WRITE after elections. That you work for a company with petroleum attached to its nomenclature, and not you were begged to attend its interview. You see, a man of substance does not wear a gold clothe but when you move close to him you will see that he is made up of gold. We have silent but great achievers in this forum who you would envy when you meet them in person. Some are here for job security, some to compare job prospects, and others for different reasons and not mouthing they are in different recruitment exercises.
To gullibly fell for and swallowed someone's nairaland's registered age, which the REAL will ever be a mystery to you, as REAL AGE is like deceiving yourself that you were christined Eruditor(a mere pseudo-name), huh? Now who is a fool? Logic didn't tell you that since Eruditor is NOT your real name, 31 years may not be my real age. I think you should know better. Appearance is not always the reality. Things are not always what they seem like so STOP over blowing your trumpet on a public forum so that your case will not like....? Concentrate on your interview while you expect the next SURPRISE(S) from PCL/NNPC, and remember the race is not to the swift but who God has favoured. I am sure you didnt expect that by now you would still be waiting for interview invite when you got the first sms, huh? That is the irony of life you failed to realise mybro. So STOP PRE-EMPTING & HOLDING BRIEF for them while we all wait patiently for the next big deal(+ve/-ve). I wish you and every other persons goodluck.
#AllowPCL/NNPCtoDecide
Take it or leave it, am done with you!
I would need a gibberish-interpreting software for this post, laden with blunders, illogic and cockamaime in truckloads.

When you re-read your posts don't you get a hint as to why you didn't get the Texts or will you rather continue to delude yourself with more hallucinations of your fool's paradise?

Let me help you out a little, If someone erroneously calls you desperate, you could decide to ignore him or you could give him a list of some of the things you are involved in that would show you are not in the slightest, desperate. Only a proponent of idiocy will see it as a trumpet-blowing exercise or similar.

Now on the otherhand, you are the one who is desperate and holding brief for everyone involved. You have told PCL to send more texts and in the same breath told NNPC to tell PCL to stop sending texts while complaining about disorganisation and nepotism. You are the same one asking for "kogites" and those who wrote in PHC yet assuring yourself and your ilk that more texts will be sent. When someone tries to curtail your infantile antics, you begin playing the victim card and quoting bible verses. That's desperation crystallized.

As per envying people, your age and the rest of the gobbledegook, let me tell you a little secret; I can't envy anyone who is in the same race with me(because he/she is in the SAME race), I won't lie and claim I am not in need of this job or that I have achieved all I want to, the way some 31 year olds have just disclaimed their real ages to save face. I am sure if they have their way, they would even claim they never applied for this job to begin with. After all "appearance is not always the reality".

LOL

1. Your 99.9% assurance of no more texts shows there is a chance of more texts coming, which means that you are not totally sure more tests won't still be sent. You still believe there is a possibility.
2. Of course you were RIGHT with your logic when you declared that people would get invites on 21 of last month when more texts were not sent before that date. And when it was shifted to 24 your so called logic didn't tell us why it was shifted. Also on 24 when everybody was in darkness why the invites didn't land, your logic didn't tell us why it didn't land because your logic was in DARKNESS too.
3. Your logic forgot to consider the fact that the adjoining messages could have been sent to those who received the first texts to inform them of their(PCL) inability to continue since they(those that have already received the sms) have been informed when to expect the interview invites before NNPC asked them to hault the sms. Did it?
And how is your myopic logic making you to work in NNPC now?
On a serious note, the 3 kobo is meant for you to buy a chill pill to help your desperation to get this job. This desperation is noticeable in the way you frequent this forum and your selfish attitude masquerading as your illogical logic.
Awwwww. Let me tell you how non-desperate I am: I already have my 2 Text messages seating executive in one of my phones. I can afford to stay ahome for 4.5 more years and I'd still not have exceeded NNPCs age limit. I have an AC with NLNG coming up sometime after the elections. On the 12th of February, my friends had to beg me to attend an interview with a company that attached 'Petroleum' to their nomenclature. So prattle on and humor yourself and a few other "false-hope seekers".

Can I indulge you on my definition of a desperado? Someone who is 31, throwing tantrums like he is 14, asking if Business Admin candidates have received Texts, When that fails (because many did receive) he changes his askometer to 'those from Kogi' and later to those who wrote in Port-Harcourt as he keeps running from Pillar to Post looking for a new criteria to keep his false dreams alive.

I wish I could console you but I can't. This is the real world. Alice in wonderland started in Walt Disney's mind and ended on TV. If you understood my last statement, you'd have received an sms on the 18th of February.

I believe is 50/50 chance. It could be either way. But your continuous insistence on 'no more sms' shows you are 100% sure but I tell you, you are as ignorant as every other persons here as far as this recruitment exercise is concerned. STOP HOLDING BRIEF for PCL and NNPC and lie low while you prepare for your interview. I pray your case will not be like 'someone' who gave us all the questions offhand and their answers but today peeps to see what is happening in the house. I too sabi no too good! My 3 kobo.
3 things:

1. I have never used 100% anywhere. But 99.9% sure? Count me in.
2. I am devoted to logic not emotions so chances are that I'd be more right than you.
3. Logic says for the 'more-texts' chants to have some credit, PCL should have sent the adjoining text messages to everyone since 'everyone' should have been waiting for the interview. But sadly for you and a few other emotional heads PCL sent the texts to those who ought to have received the first text.
How is your emotional outburst working out now?

On a lighter note, you can keep your 3kobo. We don't want to leave you broke. grin

I agree, but for NNPC to bring Nepotism into the fray, they don't need to tell PCL to stop sending messages. They can simply continue with the process and infuse names into the final list as they have always done in the past. Since you work for one of such JVs surely you should know that wink

BREAKING NEWS!
I called the Philips Recruitment to ask why I've not received my sms. The guy on the phone said they were instructed by nnpc to stop sending the sms till further notice. I guess till after the elections. So if u are yet to get ur sms, don't lose hope, u still have a chance when they resume sending of sms, if u did well in the exam, u'll get urs. The Philips guy also told me that unsuccessful ones will also receive an sms stating their failure status.
This is Philips Recruitment hot line: 01-270-3667
This is highly unlikely because Philips Consulting could not have sent the initial texts without the consent or instruction of their client- NNPC. Even in such an event, Philips consulting were never the one's to organise the interviews, so the only other texts or emails they would owe anyone is the schedule for the interviews. Period.

I am not a harbinger of bad news but we need to be able to spot the difference between a fact and a diplomatic response issued to assuage a hurting mind.

My 2 cents, but there's plenty where it came from. grin

Hi Guys!
I really do not want to be a bearer of bad news but from a very very reliable source( a friend currently working at PCL), people who received the messages are the successful ones.
There is nothing like sms been sent in batches and the ones yet to receive are most likely the unsuccessful ones.
Also, the highest level of nepotism was involved in the selection process according to him.

As a PCL customer care executive , Erin, said (I called ,'01-2703667' yesterday), dey will be sending invites in batches till March 12(lwtmb - d generic reponse to all intending applicants).

So guys, if you know anyone in nnpc, now is the time to re-awaken the nnpc networks as anythn is still possible between now and March 12, God willing.

*my humble contribution.......
(Still awaiting my sms with faith tho sad sad sad)
1. Point one, is a given. Those who received the texts did make it.

2. There is nothing like texts in batches, I agree. Logic says if they didn't send it, any time post-18th, they probably won't send it 9 or 11 days after.

3. The one's yet to receive are most likely unsuccessful. I agree too.

4. Highest level of Nepotism is subjective. I disbelieve it, Unless the number of successful candidates far out -numbers the purported 1500 or so, that we heard. Some even said 4000.

5. They will be sending invites in batches for the Interview. I also agree. The 2011 thread supports this.

PS: If you didn't receive the initial text but you did, for the second one, then you are in good standing because they only sent the second text to successful candidates, whom they believe should have been waiting for the interview invitation.
