Married with Children doesn't entirely define maturity.
Understand 2 things mate:

1. Humans love false hope. We always want to be told that there is a way out. That in itself is not even a problem. The problem is, if the emperor is naked, he is naked. We cannot keep telling him he is wearing a beautiful garment made with invisible thread.

2. The second issue is the "Robin-hood" mentality. Everyone (almost everyone) covertly houses that desire to be the beacon of hope. We like to pretend we care enough to ruffle feathers with others for a common good.

You seem like you have a good head on your shoulders so I will tell you free of charge: it is all make believe! And the worst aspect of it is that both the Robinhood's and the unfortunate band of naked-king cheerer's are usually in the same pot, fighting the same battles, for no apparent just cause. And I am just here entertaining myself grin

This information is misleading. If you cursorily glanced at the 2011 thread you'd have seen that the invites came in batches depending on dates and discipline. There are no new SMSs to be sent. I know you mean well but you are selling some people on false hope. Very correct. NNPC offered GTs 1.6 per annum as basic so that is what he probably saw and assumed that was all. There is a feeding allowance that is 55k per month...that is also factored into the per month and is different from the upfront which is given beginning of the year.
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Oando Graduate Trainee Recruitment 2014 by Eruditor:
^^^

Spoken as a Neophyte: A lot of hot air, conjectures and emotions. Let us put your (il)logic to the test.

1. How would you know if the process continued or not?
a) will Chevron send each unsuccessful candidate a mail?
b) will all successful candidates voice out that they were successful?

If a) was to be the case (which it isn't!) One could still argue that following the interviews, Chevron equally terminated the process.

If b) was to be the case, you'd have to prove beyond any reasonable doubt that for all recruitment processes on-going in Nigeria, there has always been at least one person who came to NL to broadcast his/her apparent success.

Neither is the case.

2. Your "source" told you the process was discontinued.

a) Is your source the repertoire of Chevron- recruitment knowledge?
b) if a) above is true, then he/she should have been powerful enough to get you in, the way the people I and Wonda26 know, got in or nah?

So your source too could equally be a fugazi, who passed generic and uncooked information to you, to placate your job-hunting miseries.

As per 4 slots or 2, I won't even condescend to engage you in another drivel on which information makes any iota of sense. Oh, you expected Chevron to select 2 candidates from say approximately 100 that wrote the skilltest? Even if they shortlisted only 10% of the above estimate for the interview, it still won't make any sense to spend that time and money for just 2 slots. I am sure you are catching my drift by now.

There is an open and shut way to solve this issue. I project there would be another recruitment for Chevron this year, and if your conjectures are worth their salt, Chevron will simply "continue with the suspended process" instead of re-introducing a new advert. I am not God, but I wager that that would not be the case.

NB: You kept making reference to 2012 recruitment as though that is what is being discussed and also talking about different ways to get into Chevron- nobody is arguing that. However there is ONLY ONE way to get into Chevron as a GT and I stand corrected. I will give unsolicited advice now by telling you to read between the lines and not between the spaces between the words.

Ironic, but sometimes the advice we so willingly want to give, is the one we are so direly in need of, however non-cognizant of it. You can make of that what you will.

My last post on this thread.
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Oando Graduate Trainee Recruitment 2014 by Eruditor: 1:45pm On Feb 19, 2015
I usually would steer clear off this but because of the brouhaha with respect to the Chevron 2013 recruitment process, I have decided to throw in a thing or 2.

First and Foremost, that process was NOT suspended. Chevron had already done a 2012 GT recruitment for Facilities, Earth Scientists, IT and Petroleum Engineering Positions to which all such vacancies were filled. For some strange reason they threw open another advert for Petroleum engineering and Earth Scientist positions again in 2013 which should usually not be the case. I don't know much about the latter but WRT the former I have solid information stating that they had only 4 slots for that position (maybe as a result of a few people who turned down the offer in late 2012 or due to a few retirements or movements within their corporate structure).

Be that as it may, they indeed went beyond the Dragnet stage and even the skilltest but they terminated the process at that point and did it in-house. This is just a euphemism for saying they "runzed it". I will not tell you how sure I am beyond saying just like Wonda26, I too know someone who got recruited via that process in 2013.

If your source didn't let you know that 4 people were employed in 2013 for that vacancy, then I make bold to say that your source is not high enough. And about the argument that people could get into Chevron via different means is moot as Chevron have only ONE way of recruiting GTs, which I believe is the subject of discussion. Also that email that was snapped and uploaded here was addressing the earth scientist position and is also a lie if you ask me. I mean, did you really think they were going to tell you they did it in-house?

As per Oando, you guys should be patient as they will not suspend the process indefinitely. I can see there are alot of application-neophytes on this thread and this can be corroborated by the "age-embargo" Oando placed. Recruitment processes don't happen as briskly as y'all would want it to be. Don't be misled by how quickly Dragnet and SHL responded. There would still be an Assessment centre before the Medicals and Offer letter issuance.

The vulture is a patient bird.

The more interesting stat is:
Ronaldo-17 games, 28 goals, 9 assist
Messi-19 games, 19 goals, 8 assist.
The selfish player with no skill and no playmaking ability leads both goals and assists.
The more interesting Stat is how many of CR7s goals were Penalties? How many did he score late on in the game? How many were tap ins? How many did he score playing from the wings? How many goals does he have in all competitions? How many assists?

When CR7 scores 50+ La Liga goals in any season then he would have something to be compared with Messi for. Save 2008, the next time (going by the 'rules') that CR7 deserved the Balon D'or was 2014. The previous one was fraudulently given to him because they didn't want Messi to have 5 to CR7s 1. But what does Leo care? He would still win it at least 2 more times before he turns 31. I wager that Ororo has already peaked. If you are ballsy enough, swear on your life that it is not the case.

I will only agree with your comment if it is correct...
Roma was a joke when Luis Enrique was coach..I can remember a team that still was relegated which masterfully whipped him 4-0.
He couldn't motivate his players to follow his ideas or rather, his ideas were so silly that following it made the players start to doubt themselves.....
Enrique focuses more being loved by every of his player, than he focuses on achieving desired results nor playing football as it should...
Secondly, you saying that Enrique set the part for how Roma is today is totally thoughtless of you and unfounded.. The nigga saw that he couldn't even direct nor lead nor motivate the players to give their best again, and he left.. He was not even sacked!!
So stop peddling your lies bro!
In addition, Roma had 2 more coaches after Enrique the failure. I don't see the logic behind attributing Garcias achievements to Enrique when he had 2 coaches following his own abysmal tenure at the helms. Let me not even talk about Celta for now.

What is happening is that the 'authorities' on this thread who so willy nillyingly supported the signing of this dud and his selling of Cesc and Alexis are beginning to eat their words with 2 plates of humble pie. That's why all this faux-laden achievements are being listed for Enrique- a man who was only employed because of his reputation as an ex-Barca player.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freon

smartgenius:
Freon is a Dupont brand name for its chlorofluorocarbons, but they have been phased out, and replaced with HFC's and hydrocarbons. Sulphurdioxide was an old refridgerant, but it's toxic and no longer used. The question is technical. Methane may be the correct option.
Unfortunately, Methane is NOT the correct option. The correct option was Freon. Freon is NOT the brand name for CFCs but the brand name for Halocarbons (Halogenated- Carbons or Carbon-Halogen compounds) which includes (but isn't limited) to CFCs.

This is important to note because there are other types of Freons that are totally non-toxic, non-flammable, very efficient as coolants and have been employed to correct the ills elicited by the CFCs. Also they are TYPICALLY used as refridgerants. This rules out Methane because it is plausible yet ATYPICAL to use just methane as a refridgerant.

It is frustrating when otherwise intelligent guys just freeze their brains and begin to employ sentiments in searching for jobs. Anyone can take a cursory look at the 2013 Shell thread and you could see how people progressed from the first stage to receiving the offers. For starters, some people didn't upload any transcripts and some others didn't have high CGPAs. To be honest of the 5 people I know that received the offer from Shell, only 2 of them had above 4pt in their CGPAs. Please you lot should calm down.

It is not about luck, documents uploaded or what not especially not at this stage. What matters to Shell right now is the VACANCY available and from what we can gather it is not only for a commercial role but more specifically for courses related to Economics or Financially-akin disciplines. This suggests that that is where the available vacancies lie. Depending on one's success in the online tests and then discipline one could be called soon or left hanging till a position matches your application.

I am saying this because I know some people applied for IT positions and they were grouped under commercial roles. Well, the commercial role they want to fill this time around requires people with an Economics or Finance background and not IT. All technical role applicants should wait and even those who applied to commercial roles unrelated to Finance should equally calm down.

Thank you.
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Shell Graduate Recruitment 2014 by Eruditor: 6:00pm On Nov 04, 2014
Instead of asking them when it changed, you are better of asking them what they applied for as it is a strong determinant. The SRDs would be conducted based on streams I.e whether Technical or Commercial. From what we can see thus far, commercial applicants are getting the status change and phone calls.
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Shell Graduate Recruitment 2014 by Eruditor: 4:30pm On Nov 04, 2014
On the other thread I informed the crew on there that Shell changes people's statuses based on available vacancies first and foremost before any other thing. If you had gone through that previous thread you would have seen a handle Samdson or so who was kept on 'application under review' from May to August or September, meanwhile some others had done their medicals in August and were billed to resume in October of the said year.

The young man Maobe, that was interviewed by Shell on the 31st October applied on the 20th of October yet he was quickly scheduled and it had nothing to do with his many qualifications. He applied for the commercial position and I believe that is where Shell currently has vacancies to fill.

Those whose statuses have changed to 'pending interview' should kindly tell the house the position they applied for. Freer1 can do well to begin the trend. You would see that most of the people who make discouraging posts are doing so because they themselves have been jujitsu-ed off the recruitment process. grin

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by Eruditor: 2:14pm On Oct 26, 2014
Criticising the coach will be overstating the facts for me. It is well known on this street the obvious dislike I have for Lucho but what's been done has been done so no need to cry over spilled milk.

I had no problem with playing Pique in centre half position but I maintain that we should have paired him with Mattieu while Alves and Alba maintained their regular positions. Macherano and NOT Busquets should have been the DM.

Most of us criticising Pique forget to realize that Madrid started out by trying to pull crosses through from Alves' wing for CR7 but it failed to yield on a couple of occasions courtesy Pique. It was after this that they preferred to play the crosses on the ground and one of such instances created the handball and thereby penalty.

Alves wasn't to blame in totality too. Suarez who played on that wing was supposed to help with the defensive duties but he rarely did and this left Alves exposed to mark Marcelo and atimes Isco or CR7 all through the game. Even When Hamez Rodriguez got the ball on left of our defence, he always switched it back to Alves' wing because that was the major leakage.

Mattieu didn't have a bad game defending against Caraval and James. Neymar on occasions too helped and we safely neutralized them and I think he should be commended for doing such.

Concerning Neymar and Mattieu up front there was nothing going and this is partly because Caraval was brilliant and also because Iniesta lacked ideas all game.Xavi too was slow and equally bereft especially since Madrid played 2 CMFs in front of their back 4.

I will never blame Suarez for his contributions. He did very well. If anything I will blame the midfielders for not reading his runs all the time. Suarez attempted to make good runs in behind the defence but the players were much more interested in tiki takaing their way into oblivion and even when Rakitic came on, he continued with the same folly. A few times he was through on goal to have a shot but he rather passed the ball to the side that is, to either Messi or Alves. It was so disappointing as Madrid would have conceded if we played any more direct than we did.

As per Messi, he did no wrong all game apart from lose steam as soon as Madrids 3rd goal came in. Not only him but the whole team and this is solely the managers fault. We had up to 25mins to muster a come back but somehow the body language of the players kept saying "we have lost and we know it". That's not the Barca attitude.

As for those criticising Messis indifference after losing the ball, you have to remember that he had a yellow card as early as the 8th min or so and he was forced to play on thin ice till game end. Same with Neymar and a host of others and they didn't want to get a Red card.

At the end of the day, we lost to 3 semi-unforced errors. The second goal was the worst of all. We still haven't learnt to defend against Cornerkicks. I don't understand how Sergio Ramos and Pepe (2 of the 3 best headers in RM) were left unattended to. That is criminal if not diabolical and we made same school boy errors against PSG this season.

Oh well, all hope isn't lost. We can be more pragmatic at times. Messi should be encouraged to drive into the box and get fouled for a penalty. Neymar can do so too. We can also employ counter attacks and direct passes to the forward players instead of passing the ball side to side (sometimes hopelessly). It took the players 30 odd mins to realize how high up Rayo Vallecano's defence was set up before we used direct long passes to expose them and score 2 goals. That's not good enough for a team of Barcas quality. And on Lucho we placed the responsibilities of such requisite intelligence but so far he has failed to deliver on the big occasions.

My hope is that he is learning. RM are still bread for us.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by Eruditor: 6:03pm On Oct 03, 2014
My problem was not the result even though I was pained by it. My problem was the tactics he employed (he meaning Lucho). Laurent Blanc came to do 3 things and all 3 worked to his advantage but what did Lucho do in response? He did the same darn thing we complained about last season- we passed and passed the ball aimlessly with no directness of play. It was disappointing.

Blanc came to counter-attack when we had possession. Use freekicks and corner kicks when avaliable and play the ball over the head of Alba to have run-ins with Moura. Didn't y'all notice that we had 5 corner kicks after the first half to PSGs 2 but they led 2-1? Did anyone notice how many times Moura took on Alba all day?

The sad thing is that when we face RM in October, Ancelloti would revert to the same counter-attacking football and we would look so frail and unprepared when it pertains to the corners. I know this because Lucho would do the same things he did against PSG.

I share sentiments with those who said Pique and Mathieu (both above 6'2) should have defended with Macherano as the holding Midfielder. For anything, we would have had good options defending the corners and also attacking ours when they were available. That's part of the pragmatism that I feared lucho lacked going by his Roma experience.

Let me also say that I am not condemning him based on one game but there's a problem with managers that like possession football: they don't seem to consider the situations where such will not work. We have already seen the snoozefest at Malaga and now this loss in Paris. What is to say we would fair any better against Sociedad and the Madrid teams this year?

I believe we can win the league this year too but I have removed my mind from the UCL. I implore you all to do same too. Cheers.

I don't see how the inept coach does not take the blame for yesterday's fiasco. Luis Enrique was tactically outclassed and he would suffer similar fate when he faces other equally tactically adept managers like Laurent Blanc. For example, if Cesc and Mourinho get this Barca in the KO stages they would have y'all for breakfast.

I can see the complaints again about Iniesta and how he would not score goals to save dear life. I can see how Dani Alves is being blamed for putting crosses in for 5'6 and 5'8 Messi and Neymar to head and score in the presence of 6'2 David Luiz and co. Very funny thing I tell you.

Tata Martino faired better. That's a rude reminder. I will come in every now and then to laugh at the Messiah Lucho. I remember being confronted by the powers that be on this thread when I expressed my dislike for this wannabe Pep.

I will still call him out for his mistakes including letting Cesc go because he didn't man a midfield well playing as a false 9 even as I must praise him for making the greatest player ever- Messi, to recover his enthusiasm for the game.

What Pastor Chris doing will clear the air regarding this 'Man of God' thing. Because in recent years, anyone carrying or preaching bible is called Man of God. That's foul. Look at the bible at those who we called Man of God. They didnt live ordinary lives. See a Man of God:
"And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. ( KJV)"
A man of God lives only for God. When he speaks, it is as though God has spoken. They do not and cannot live careless lives because the same power can kill quickly if misused. 2Kings 1:10.
I said this same thing on another thread. I said the anointing on this man can kill him if he even goes to India when God told him to go to Indonesia.

The man doesn't own himself. He has been sold to do ONLY what God has instructed him to do. Sooner people realise this the better.
