APC’s plot to hoodwink voters, stir confusion over Obaseki’s party in hinterlands busted – Osagie …Gov’s aide urges Edo voters to vote for umbrella Special Adviser to Edo State Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has busted the new strategy being deployed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to hoodwink Edo people in the hinterlands and stir confusion over Governor Godwin Obaseki’s political party. Osagie, who spoke with journalists in Benin City, the Edo State capital on Monday, said: “We have been receiving calls from supporters of Governor Godwin Obaseki in the hinterlands who told us that some members of the APC have been trying to deceive them to vote for the APC in the forthcoming election, by lying to them that Governor Obaseki, who is very popular among them, is still in the APC. The governor’s aide added: “The candidate of the APC, Osagie Ize-Iyamu and his agents think they can manipulate Edo voters by peddling lies. The APC has since conceded to the overwhelming popularity of Governor Obaseki in the streets of Edo and has resorted to underhand tactics, such as they are doing in these communities. “We call on Edo people, especially those who may be confused about the governor’s political party to vote for the umbrella on election day because Governor Obaseki has since left the APC and he is now the flag-bearer of the PDP.” He explained that “There are thousands of families in the over 10 coastal communities along the Ovia River, between Edo and Ondo state, who couldn’t send their children to institutions of higher learning until Governor Obaseki intervened in the poor management of Edo State Polytechnic Usen. “Workers in the polytechnic were owed about sixteen months salary arrears by the former administration, and the institution was as good as dead because parents withdrew their children and wards from there. “Today, the Department of Mass Communication which was created less than two years ago and a few other departments have over three hundred students, most of them drawn from these communities.” Osagie noted: “So these parents and their children of voting age have vowed to sustain the ongoing reforms in Edo Polytechnic by voting for Obaseki. It will also interest Edo people to know that there is a staff primary school in the polytechnic for children in these communities, who never had access to schools in their coastal communities until now. “So members of the APC thought they could go to these communities, lie to them that their popular Governor is still in the APC. The strategy has since boomeranged on them because most of our people in these places, know better and the APC propagandists have fled the communities.” #obaseki4edo2020 #Obaseki2020 #MegaMovement #VotePDP #MakingEdoGreatAgain

*Edo 2020: Obaseki resolved to quash acts of violence – Wike* *_… says governor’s fight against godfatherism will earn him second term_* Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s National Council for Edo 2020 gubernatorial election and Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has said the party and its candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, will resist plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to unleash mayhem on voters in the state in order to rig the forthcoming poll. Wike, who spoke on _Channels Television’s_ Sunrise Daily programme, Tuesday, said the governor has resolved to quash acts of violence by the APC, its sacked National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu. The governor noted: “We have always preached peace, free and fair election ahead of the gubernatorial election and even Governor Obaseki during the flag-off of our campaigns urged our supporters not to retaliate despite attack on us, intimidation and harassment of our supporters, destruction of our billboards and threat by the APC to use violence to disrupt the forthcoming election in the state. “In a viral video, the candidate of the APC, Ize-Iyamu met, with thugs and cultists and one Kabaka introduced them to Ize-Iyamu as the ‘Lions and Tigers’ from all the local government areas of Edo State. In the same video, Ize-Iyamu charged them to move from units to units and subsequently move to other wards and local government areas to cause mayhem because they have what it takes to win the election by all means. But under the Electoral Act, you don’t move from one unit to the other unit. So, what does that tell you? Violence! “And I ask for example, if someone comes to cut my hand, so because I don't want violence I will allow the person to cut my hand? And when the person cuts my hand, I run away and allow the person go scot free?” Wike stated that the forthcoming election would be an easy one for the PDP to win because of the previous comments made by Oshiomhole about the APC candidate. He noted: “If there is one election I think that should be easy to win, I think it is the Edo election. It is very simple and why it is very simple is because the election is a test to show whether Nigerians love themselves or not; this will show whether Edo people love themselves or not. “Four years ago, the former national chairman of the APC said that Obaseki was his brain box and the person behind everything he achieved; it is clear, he said so. The same man said the PDP candidate in the 2016 election was not electable. Why was he not electable? Oshiomhole, Ize-Iyamu can’t be trusted with money. The same man who you could not give an appointment or entrust with money is the same man you are telling Edo people to now vote for. “You wake up in the morning and you tell Edo people something, and in the night you call the same Edo people and say, what I said in the morning, I didn’t mean it; how do we now know the one that you meant?” Wike queried. The governor restated that his Edo counterpart earned the confidence of the people by resisting godfatherism in the state and will be reelected. “The mere fact that Obaseki resisted godfatherism should be the one reason Edo people should vote for him. There are so many things about this election; it has nothing to do with Obaseki like I said. Edo people are ready to end godfatherism now?” he added.
