PoliticsRe: Why Jonathan Lost To Buhari – Sanusi by Eseries(m): 11:02am On Apr 06, 2015
I laugh so hard When people say if Buhari doesn't perform, we will vote him out. People keep saying Nigerians voted GEJ out; yes they did but the reason they did was because GEJ is just a simple man, a civilian, a democrat who got to power on a platter of Gold. He didn't struggle for the seat, providence brought it to him. So he could afford to take chances. The Man Buhari has tested this seat, he knows how it feels to be in power, that is why he struggled for more that a decade for this. He hAs finally gotten it; you think he will ever take chances with it? Not at all!

Moreover Nigerians voted and will continue to vote along ethnic lines. Let me see how you will cancel out 1.9 million votes or more Kano will give buhari in the next election because those guys will still vote for him regardless of performance. He has a cult-hero followship in the north; what APC banked on.

My point is: regardless of performance, Buhari will be president for the next 8 years. The northerners won't be perturbed,he is their brother. They only care when a southerner is ruling. We southerners, let's hope his administration be good because there is nothing you can do about that 8 years! He has got it!

There is this my guy( a yoruba) and this Igbo chick of his. The guy introduced her to us (myself and igbo brothers). Tried holding conversation with her in igbo, The chick come they form, she go dey speak the Igbo one kind, they form 2 us say she no sabi speak, say she dey learn. We were all in a birthday party and there was this side chick of that my guy also in attendance. my guy was sharing his attention with both but giving preference to the Igbo sister. as the party went on, my guy don shayo, His side chick was more lively, dancing, twerking and twisting. na so my Guy follow her up. after a while my Igbo sister became uncomfortable, she begin find someone to confide in. na so de girl call me 2 a corner and spoke to me in Igbo!
she was fluent! na so my eye open
she come dey ask me wetin connect my guy and him side chick!
I no speak igbo again give am o! i begin blow grammar! i let am say I know know
make she carry out her investigation, no use language involve me!
Imagine!
she come they tell me in igbo how the guy propose 2 her a day or 2 ago.......wetin concern me?
lost my respect 4 her!
how can one claiming she cant communicate in her native language make her more "sellable" is what I cant comprehend!
na the peak of Inferiority complex and a critical case of a lost personal identity!

I live in lagos, I so miss my language I dont hesitate to speak it whenever I can. Wherever I have been, it didn take people long to find out am Igbo and I am proud of who I am! on the other hand, if there is actually a special tribe in naija; is the Igbos! no be today na.... the wise men they always come from east!

LewsTherin:
I'm not wealthy. I'm well off, but not wealthy (not yet, at least grin) and I have learnt a number of things.

1. Money isn't everything. It's a lot no doubt, but not everything
2. Your money is what you are. Like in the op, a good guy with money is a better guy. A douchebag with money is a bigger heap of swine dung.
3. Money basically brings the means to be happier. How? I can get stuff I like more often than not. I take my Lady out someplace nice and she's happy which makes me happier. I get to help friends, family and total strangers which makes me feel good. But I am happier cos I was happy before all this. How do I know?
4. I was broke once. Married and broke. But I was happy even then. My Lady was great, I still helped friends, family and total strangers, I didn't get what I wanted, but I had what I needed.

So money isn't everything. Mobey is a lot, but most of it is you
love your story!
This looks like what i would have written if i was well off financial!
I dont have money but i love helping people out especially financially!
the look on peoples's face when as a stranger, you pop up to help out is immense!
some will just stare at you not knowing exactly what to do/say, will just leave them with a smile.
one of the best feelings in life!

This is the reason am not convinced with this whole"change" brouhaha!
You keep telling me a group of people have held us hostage for 16 years yet when one of them switches to your side he suddenly wears-off the whole thing about his old self and miraculously turn to a "liberator"
and this is not just a floor member but more or less the captain/architect for the whole "16 years"!
call me a pessimist! regardless of the outcome of this election; I don not see CHANGE coming soon.
Am a realist!
Why has fate treated us this bad!

APC have not been able to prove to me they are different; The people are more or less same! The methodology/mode of operation same!
CultureRe: Osu Caste System! Such A Terrible Practice!! by Eseries(m): 2:31pm On Feb 12, 2015
Radoillo:
You seem genuinely interested in understanding 'Osu'. I'll tell you what I know, based on what elderly folks told me. (Like I said the Osu system has completely disappeared from the area of Igboland I hail from).

First of all, this thing about Osu being used as blood sacrifice is pure nonsense. An Osu belonged to the gods and it was an abomination to shed Osu blood. In fact, in some places, Osu had the reputation of troublemakers, despoiling peoples' farm and such because they knew no one would dare touch them.

It is equally not true that 'discrimination' against osu began with Christianity. To understand the so-called discrimination, one has to understand how an Osu is made. An Osu was a slave owned by a god. As a property of the gods, Osu did hold a powerful place in religious and ritual matters. As a slave however, he couldn't have the same rights that freeborn had. He couldn't marry a freeborn, he couldn't participate in political life like the freeborn, and he couldn't take titles.

Think of Osu as a eunuch in an oriental royal household. He could become very powerful, but still had an inferior status as a slave and an emasculated man.
iji ya!
well explained!

Igbos killed twins? U dey craze abi?

And btw only criminal Obos could be soiled by their own kinsmen.

Also slavery in Afroca was different from slaves treatment in the Americas.
Bro e neva reach make we fight!
Igbos (or at least some parts of Igbos) killed twins at birth. They usually throw them away into "ajo afia" and the helpless babies will die through starvation, cold or even soldier ant attack.
have heard heart breaking stories of mothers or local midwives killing and hiding one of the twins to save the life of the other!
Heard Akanu Ibiam is originally from Edda but had a twin brother at birth, The mom eloped to neighboring Uwana where they settle and He was adopted as a native.
As for slavery! our fathers sold their brothers to slave merchants/whitemen.
I did not make up all these, they all stories told to me my the elderly ones most of them are now deceased.
abum ezigbo nwa afo toro na ime ezi!
we have to accept everything about our past then make amend where necessary! That is the way forward!

Hello everyone!
I want to state categorically clear that osu is hardly an issue in the contemporary Igbo society.
Just think about numerous famous Igbos bearing Nwaosu (decendant/children of Osu) as surname. They are all well received and celebrated in their various communities.
In today's world young ones marry whosoever they want be it oyibo, people from other tribes and nationalities, Osu is hardly one of the issues to be bothered about. There is this girl that bears Nwosu that graduated with first class in my department, You think peradventure it happened we chose to marry anyone can stop me because she is "osu"?
Believe me most people think like me except few old conservative people and their opinion hardly matter.

Just like killing of twins babies, selling people out to slavery and other nefarious practices found in our culture have been phased out.

If there there is a group that embraces change that comes along with civility, Igbo are the one!
no one gives a dammn about if you osu or not, become a success and people will celebrate and associate with you! who do hell even keep track of who is osu or who is their children or let alone children of their children? shocked shocked

Once upon a time, there was a warlord named odumegwu Ikemba Ojukwu. He wrongly fought for the disintegration of Nigeria by trying to carve out a biafran territory. This action led to a civil war and ojukwu's actions led to the death of millions igbos. Instead of standing by them to fight and defend them, he fled cowardly to ivory coast on exile. The actions of the civil war are still unforgiven by the igbos till today. They forgot the then head of state was under a mandate to protect the territorial integrity of Nigeria. Since the head of state was a northerner, igbos have Since hated the north and Yoruba's. They are the major followers of this administration even though its obvious that its not performing. They prefer to suffer and live in penury than vote for the right change. This is why they consider buhari as a wrong candidates whereas had APC presented a young hausa/yoruba in his 40's, they will still label him no good. This is just to educate the ignorant ones about the reason why the igbos decided to follow Jonathan like a fly following a corpse to the grave

PoliticsThe Choice Of Buhari by Eseries(op): 9:57am On Jan 16, 2015
Let me start by stating categorically clear that I am no Fan of GEJ. He is simply not built tough enough to lead a nation like ours.
That is my personal submission hence may not be correct.
He lacks the charisma a leader needs.

My question is not for all these political urchins professing CHANGE of course they are in business and have their personal/political interest to protect but YOU, a fellow citizen "way no get political leg/connection or affiliation"
DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE BUHARI WILL BRING CHANGE?

This is a Man that overthrown a CIVILIAN ADMINISTRATION, THE PEOPLE's ELECTED GOVERNMENT, THE CHOICE of NIGERIAN PEOPLE and IMPOSED himself on NIGERIANS. Himself and NZEOGWU are the only individuals to have ever done that, Our other heads of state simply did what they had to do on the military platform already provided to them (by these two) to get to power. This man is responsible for the emergence of IBB and ABACHA. NZEOGWU set us back in 1966 and by 1979 we got a chance to dust ourselves and began our journey then this PREDATOR struck!
Imagine where we would have been If we had continued in our democracy since then! We all are talking about our economy, infrastructure, standard of living whereas these indexes are simply a reflection of political growth. BUHARI SHOULD HAVE RESIGNED, ROMOVE HIS KHAKI, JOIN A POLITAL PARTY, WAIT TILL THE NEXT ELECTION, THEN CONTEST! That is the NOBLE, CIVIL, SAINTLY AND INCORRUPTIBLE way to have gone about it.
I wonder why he won't put on his khaki back then try to dispose our current government? Why the wait? Oh he fell in love with democracy he disposed at his youth in his old age? REALLYhuh?

I think our democracy is growing albeit at a very slow rate. It is a good development a relatively strong opposition party has emerged. Before now we effectively had one party system.

My only problem with the opposition party is why this MAN?
They should have created a platform for a younger, vibrant Nigerian to come steer this country away from this doom.

As for this OLD, POWER OBSESSED MAN, the CHANGES He has ever brought to us are all negatives ( his coup, series of violence each time he lost)

So Fellow Nigerians ( I don't mean paid E-political warriors) are you convinced this man will bring change?
Am I missing something?
Convince me how this old cloak will bring this change
All I see is a DESPERATE OLD MAN ready to make a deal even with the DEVIL, ready to compromise to any lenght to get to power.
I watch the rallies, He looks out of depth with today's reality in his personal disposition and speeches. He just opened a twitter account, learnt how to suit up and to take selfie.....excellent!

I will conclude with this prayer " GOD may I never be faced with life options that can be likened to BUHARI and GEJ! may my option always be better! " AMEN!

Jobs/VacanciesNgos,humanitarian/non-profit Organisations...here Is A Volunteer! by Eseries(op): 6:56pm On Dec 12, 2014
Brief Intro:
I am a young Nigerian, still in my early 20s, A graduate.
I am involved in running a small travelling agency at managerial level.

I want to take some time-off work, rejuvenate myself, restrategize on my tactics in order to realize my Dreams (boy wants to make megabucks)
I have always haboured this dream of being a big financial sponsor of humanitarian organisations championing the battle of making this world of unequal opportunities a little bit better than we met it.

Not long ago an idea struck me.........yeah! I may not be rich yet but there is still something I can offer for the humanitarian course! I am young, full of energy and am sure I haven't got the dumbest brain out there! It is definitely myopic if I think the only way I can have an input towards this is through finance. I am sure most people think this way and will probably wait for a life time with out contributing! I want to make most of my "off period" to this effect.

So I am stepping on this platform to make myself available for service to humanity! I do not want to be paid!
There are so many people in the world that defiled the human selfish nature, giving their all for nothing! I want to be in this circle, let me throw a fraction of my life to this.

NGOs, Humanitarian organizations where art thou?...........Because here I am! Send me!
